Chapter 244: Who is she?

At the Convel Territory

Nathan promptly resumed his duties the following day. He held a meeting with the Elders and Officers, and everyone rejoiced at the news of Decan’s daughter and Lucio’s son being safely back within their grasp.

"This is definitely a call for celebration. Though I must say that I still find these turns of events intriguing," Danos wondered out loud.

"Just yesterday, you were too adamant in refusing to let the Moon Clan Princess go knowing that she’s your mate. Not to mention the fact that you’ve already marked her. Surely, it’ll be hard on your part to let her go," he whimsically continued.

"As such, if our King could so much as enlighten us with what really happened? On how instead of infiltrating the Moon Clan Territory, you ended up proceeding with the exchange?" It was an irregularity. He felt that there was something off with the arrangements, but he couldn’t exactly point out what it truly was.

Hearing Danos’s protests, Nathan held a stoic expression as he replied, "Let’s just say that the Moon Clan Princess and I came up with an agreement that will benefit all parties involved, Elder Danos." The King then added, "I don’t think the finer details matter enough to be shared... Also, wasn’t getting two innocent children of our own back to their families safe and sound more than enough?"

Everyone in the group agreed as consenting nods spread all across the room. And with all the added whispers going around, Danos was left with no other choice than to shut his mouth and bide his time. No one was around backing him up, and he was heavily outnumbered.

"We should move on. What we should really be discussing right now is the inevitable war about to break out between our Society and the Moon Clan," Nathan declared.

"Marcus has awakened, and I’m sure that he’s planning yet another attack on our territory. But this time, he will surely arrange for a more powerful and solid one led by him personally. I want us to not wait for the inevitable to happen once again. Instead, I propose that we take him down now through any means necessary. For as long as he has breath left in him, he won’t stop till he eliminates every last one of our kind."

Everyone nodded in agreement. Back in Decan’s reign, they had tried talking it out with Marcus to peacefully resolve their differences. However, time proved that it didn’t end well. And now, he was back at it again to wreak havoc in their peaceful lives.

As the day went on, Nathan’s schedule slowly became packed as he got ever so busy. It was already late at noon when he finally returned to their secret room with Decan, Boris, and Aspen to discuss some more confidential details.

"Let’s wait for Mia to contact us. She promised that she’ll help us by giving us important details that we could use to our advantage," Nathan commented. He had a clear recollection of all the time he spent inside the Moon Clan Territory with others, all except for his time with Raine. It was somehow frustrating, but Nathan managed to get a hold of himself, latching on instead to the burning desire in his heart to bring down Marcus and finally end his life.

Sneakily taking glances at Nathan, Boris couldn’t help but talk telepathically with Aspen. [He probably hasn’t even read the letter yet,] he pointed out. [Look at how unaffected he is with his mate gone.]

"Why bother talking telepathically when I can still hear you, Boris? And to answer your question, I haven’t read the letter yet because I don’t see the need to. Especially now in our current situation," Nathan sighed as he explained his actions.

"I believe she chose to erase my memory thinking that it was for the best, so why bother reading it and get my heart broken in the first place? I marked her, right? So that letter might just trigger some remnants of emotions deep inside of me. And right now..." He trailed off before he continued, "Triggering my emotions is the last thing I want to do. I’d rather employ my heightened fury against Marcus. That way, I can be more efficient in my plans against him."

Nathan turned to the man, "So why don’t you do the same? You can finally be with Lyne once I besiege the Moon Clan Territory and get it back as its rightful ruler."

Boris sighed as he weakly murmured, "I understand, my King."

In truth, he had intentionally let their King hear his thoughts. He was dying of curiosity, and he had heard that the Mate Bond was so strong that only death could unbind it. As such, he wondered how Nathan could even maintain his coolness against such a force. Was that memory-loss powder really that powerful? At the thought, he suddenly got worried at the possibility of Lyne using the same thing on him. Was it feasible for her to use it just so she could get rid of him for good?

"Still nosy, I guess," Aspen teased with a smirk. "That didn’t turn out well, didn’t it?"

Boris groaned at the man’s words, but the pair quickly stopped bickering when Nathan’s eyes pointedly darted at them.

In the resulting silence, the King let out a sigh as he focused his mind on making a workable plan for their attack. All of the relevant information was on the big table in front of them, including the blueprints for the entirety of the Yue Mansion. However, just as he was about to start planning, a notification sound echoed from the laptop on the table. Aspen quickly checked the message, but it said that it must be decoded first for them to read the message.

"It’s probably from Mia," Nathan commented. "We need Davin here then..." His nephew was probably the only person who could do the job. He was superb when it came to computers, and he was arguably the best at it if he must say... That was until he stopped his independent undercover work and turned into a vampire.

Nodding, Aspen quickly called up Davin. Soon enough, the vampire arrived and casually did the deciphering work on the confidential message they got from Mia.

"It’s says here that she’s giving us access to the spy camera they placed on the person handling most of Marcus’s projects," Davin read out loud. "It also says that we can directly monitor it on our part since it’d be risky on her end to control and monitor the guy inside their own territory..."

With a final click on the laptop, a beautiful and alluring face of a woman suddenly appeared on the screen. She was flashing her sweetest smile as she seemingly talked to the man wearing the camera.

"There. It looks so good on you, Janus," the woman complimented. "You look more handsome now."

"It’s a live feed..." Davin observed while Boris, Aspen, and Decan all exchanged meaningful glances since they knew exactly who the woman on the screen was.

"Who is she?" Nathan murmured, almost letting out a gasp.

"She’s the Moon Clan Princess," Davin answered. "Raine Yue."
