After everything that had happened, Nathan went straight back to Raine’s room. Upon entering, he was surprised to see that she was sleeping on the bed again.

’She’s probably too exhausted to stay awake,’ he thought to himself as he carefully walked towards her, sitting beside her on the side of the bed. ’What an angel...’

Nathan couldn’t help but smile. He wondered if Raine herself knew that she had the blood of an angel running through her veins. It was no wonder that she healed way too fast then, not to mention her then-unexplained supernatural gifts. He’d bet that if Raine knew her true origins, she’d have a lot more power in her now than what she had already shown so far.

’I should tease her to try flying with me by tugging at her...’ he silently scoffed, before shaking off his amusement with a small frown. He hated killing the lively feeling that he was having at the moment, but he needed to snap himself back to reality and think about the pressing problems he had at the moment. In truth, Nathan honestly didn’t know how to handle the current situation. Although, he still knew that it was simply logical to just hand Raine over back to Marcus at the rate that they were moving.

Removing the crown on his head and placing it on the bedside table, he then closed his eyes as he filled his lungs to capacity before exhaling as if releasing the tension stuck in his body. He knew that he was in a tight spot. The weight of the crown in his head felt all the more heavier, yet his heart clearly only had one goal and desire, and that was to keep Raine by his side no matter what.

"Should we just run away, my sweet vixen?" he softly whispered, actually considering what Davin had suggested earlier to mock him... To be selfish and run away with Raine... Just the thought of her being away from him was already killing him from the inside.

The troubled king sighed as he stared at his mate’s lovely face. Leaning closer, he kissed Raine’s lips. Not even a second later, his kiss deepened, his tears unconsciously rolling down his cheeks as the thought of her leaving pained him. He truly didn’t want to let her go no matter what.

From his actions, Raine hummed awake as she sluggishly opened her eyes. "What a way to wake me up, huh?" she mumblingly teased as she comfortably wrapped her arms around Nathan’s neck. However, the smile on her face faded as soon as she noticed the tears trickling down towards her cheeks. "You’re crying?" she whispered as she gently caressed his cheeks, wiping away the tears.

At the sweet gesture, Nathan smiled, "Yeah. These are just tears of joy at seeing you here with me. I’m really just so happy that I’ll do anything to keep you with me no matter what..."

Raine smiled, gently pressing her lips on his eyes as she gently kissed his eyelids. Then, she moved on to his cheeks before finally settling her lips on his lips and kissing him passionately. She would’ve loved to experience it often, waking up like this and seeing nothing but Nathan’s handsome face. She just loved him so much that she was starting to get greedy and selfish, which was way out of her character if she ever thought about it.

As the kiss deepened, Nathan’s hunger for Raine slowly consumed him. He was ravishing her lips, his hands becoming aggressive as it started trailing down the sides of her curves. His palms went down to her shapely hips, his one hand then sliding up inside the long shirt that she was wearing.

"Ahh..."

Raine gasped, her breath ragged as she felt Nathan’s hand crawling up her abdomen. Subtly caressing every inch of her skin, she let out a moan as his warm palm gently cupped one of her breasts, his fingers playfully flicking and teasing her now throbbing nipple.

Hearing her desperate plea, Nathan immediately moved and undressed in one quick motion. Raine quickly raised her body to reciprocate the action, but Nathan suddenly rammed his lips with hers as he gently pinned her back to the bed. She moaned as she felt his hand tracing around her inner thighs, separating her legs as he prepared her for what was to come.

Raine shook her head and whispered, "It’s tolerable. It just stings from time to time. And it glows?"
