Chapter 99: Green Slime King & King Nebulon

"Indeed, I can speak," the Green Slime King responded with a hint of amusement. "It is not often that a challenger makes it this far. You must be exceptional."

What a cliché thing to say. Exactly what you’d expect from a boss monster in a video game would say.

Wait, no, hold on! Based on what he just said, is he implying that there were other adventurers who came to this Tower of Self before me? So I wasn’t the first one to step foot here?

Damn, the more I think about it, the more I realize just how mysterious this Tower of Self is. I couldn’t help but feel a bit shocked by that. Hmm, what’s going on here? What exactly is this Tower of Self? It seems like there’s so much more to it than I initially thought.

Welp, for now, let’s just focus on getting rid of this Green Slime King first. As for the mysteries of this Tower of Self, I’ll eventually find out later.

Without hesitation, I replied, "Alright, enough with the chit-chat. Let’s get started right away. I’ve still got four more floors to raid, so let’s make this quick," I said confidently.

The Green Slime King let out a rumbling chuckle. "Such confidence! But do not underestimate me, adventurer! I am the master of this Slime Castle, and you shall face my wrath!"

Immediately, I braced myself as the Green Slime King started to move. Despite its massive size, the Slime King was surprisingly agile, bouncing around the grand throne room with unexpected grace. Its jelly-like body quivered with each jump, the impacts creating a thunderous sound that echoed through the room.

BOING! BOING! BOING!

WHOOSH!

The battle immediately started as the Green Slime King charged toward me. Its body transformed mid-air, extending its body into a sharp, pointed shape, aiming to impale me with its powerful attack. I dodged to the side, effortlessly avoiding the creature’s assault.

Whoa, so it can change its shape into anything, huh? What a scary boss monster. But if that’s all he’s got, I don’t think he could ever beat me though.

"Well, this is rather disappointing. I mean, is that all you’ve got? Because if this is the best you can do, then I’m sorry to disappoint you—you’ll never beat me like this," I said in a mocking tone.

"Hahaha! Not bad! Well, that was just a warm-up. This time, I won’t go easy on you, adventurer!" the Green Slime King shouted, clearly angry at what I had just said. Maybe he thought I was looking down on him.

ROAAARRR!!!

The Green Slime King’s body suddenly started glowing with an eerie red light. I watched as its body began to change form again. This time, the creature elongated its body and split into multiple smaller Green Slimes. The smaller slimes quickly scattered across the grand throne room, moving in unpredictable patterns as they surrounded me.

Suddenly, a system message popped up:

Ding!

[The Green Slime King is enraged!]

Oh, I guess the Green Slime King is really pissed off now, huh? Ha, what a funny guy. Can’t believe he got triggered so easily by what I just said.

In the middle of nowhere in the vast universe, inside a colossal alien spaceship, within a massive chamber known as the "Grand Throne Room," a young, strikingly handsome human named "Nebulon" sat on his throne chair while gazing down at all the superhumans below him.

Thousands upon thousands of superhumans could be seen kneeling on one knee along the sprawling red carpet, their heads lowered in a show of deep respect and reverence toward Nebulon.

Nebulon, the supreme ruler of this colossal spaceship, held dominion not only over the immense vessel but also over the entire Blue Alien race. Even the blue alien soldiers, stationed within the vast throne room, were compelled to lower their heads and bow before their King, Nebulon, in absolute loyalty.

Nebulon was an SSSS-Rank superhuman Warrior, with a single goal: to ascend to the peak and become a Demigod. However, to achieve this, he needed to surpass the limits of mortal beings and break through to a rank beyond SSSSS-Rank. The next level after SSSSS-Rank is One-Star Rank. Once an individual reaches 1-Star Rank, they ascend and officially become a Demigod.

You might wonder: how could Nebulon surpass the limits of mortal beings? The answer is simple—by absorbing the life force of countless powerful superhumans. Why? Because Nebulon possessed a powerful skill or ability known as "Life Drain," which allowed him to absorb the life force of others, thereby making himself stronger.

To be efficient, Nebulon preferred to absorb the life force of powerful superhumans. The stronger the superhuman, the faster Nebulon could level up and reach the next rank. In other words, he avoided absorbing the life force of weaker superhumans and targeted only the strongest.

Why? Because while his Life Drain skill had infinite potential, it sadly came with a downside—a cooldown timer that allowed it to be used only once a month or about 30 days.

In short, due to the cooldown timer, Nebulon preferred not to absorb the life force of a weak superhuman. Instead, he reserved his ability for the strongest superhumans, as they were far more worthy to use it. Simply put, those superhumans were nothing more than livestock for Nebulon to harvest once they reached a certain level.

Unfortunately, none of the superhumans here were aware of Nebulon’s sinister plan. Every once a month, Nebulon would secretly kill and absorb the life force of one of the top 1,000 superhumans, ensuring no one discovered his dark secret.

When the powerful superhumans began disappearing every month, Nebulon would lie and claim that he had sent them back to their worlds. But in truth, they were killed, and their life force was absorbed instead.

To make matters even worse, Nebulon was also a cannibal who enjoyed eating human meat. After draining their life force, he would feast on their dead bodies, making sure nothing went to waste.

’Kekeke! What a bunch of idiots these superhumans are!’ Nebulon thought, barely able to contain his amusement. ’All I had to do was tell them I’d send them back to their worlds, and just like that, they were eager to work for me. How easily they fall for my lies.’ He smirked, enjoying the thought of how simple it was to manipulate them all.
