Chapter 95: Big Trouble
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaggghhhh!!!" I screamed as I ran away.
I don’t know for sure if she would torture me like John did, but based on her tone, I could already tell she sounded like a psycho. So yeah, hell no! I’m not dealing with this shit again!
My mind couldn’t think straight. I knew running away was futile, yet I couldn’t stop myself. The intense fear clouded my thoughts, and out of pure instinct, I just ran. It was like seeing a tiger in the wild—you know it’s pointless to run because you can’t outrun a tiger, but your body just moves on its own. That’s how I’m feeling right now.
I shot down the hallway, my heart racing. I had no clue where I was going, but I knew one thing: I needed to get away as far away from Sona. Every step felt like it was the last one before I lost my mind.
The sound of my feet hitting the marble ground and carpet echoed, and I could almost hear her footsteps chasing me from behind, even though I wasn’t looking back.
Ah, I could sense the way she was toying with me, as if this entire situation was nothing more than a game to her. Despite the clear difference in our levels, I knew full well that someone of her caliber could close the distance between us in an instant, effortlessly ending my life if she chose to.
Out of nowhere, she laughed, her voice echoing with a chilling intensity. "Bahaha! Idiot, you think you can run away from me?!"
Panicked, I turned my head back to steal a quick glance, but there was no sign of Sona. She had vanished. Nowhere to be seen.
Relieved for a split second, I turned to face forward again—only to freeze in terror.
She had reappeared, standing right in front of me, her face twisted into a wicked grin. "Surprise, motherfucker! Hahaha!" she laughed evilly.
"Noooooo!!!" I screamed in terror, my voice trembling with fear, but before I could react—
SMACK!
Her hand came down hard on my head, and everything went dark. In that instant, I blacked out, the world fading as if someone had flipped the switch off in my head.
...
...
Uncertain of how much time had passed, I slowly regained consciousness, my eyes fluttering open. At first, everything was blurry, but as my vision cleared, I realized I was lying on a massive bed, its soft sheets enveloping me. Confusion swept over me as I scanned my surroundings.
"Huh...? Where the hell am I...?" I muttered to myself, my mind racing.
The room I was in was lavish, decorated with rich, elegant furniture and tapestries that spoke of nobility. The high ceilings and ornate details gave it an air of grandeur, and it quickly became clear that I was in some kind of noble bedroom, far removed from where I had last been.
On my right side, I noticed a massive window, the kind that stretched from the floor to the ceiling. The sunlight was flooding the room, its warmth and brightness spilling into every corner. It was so intense that I assumed it must still be daytime, though I couldn’t be so sure.
After all, Sona had mentioned that this was her private world or something. But what did that even mean? I had no idea how a private world worked, or what rules it followed. Everything seemed off, and I couldn’t quite put my finger on why.
Anyway, goddammit! Who the hell opened the curtains so wide... The sunlight is literally blasting into my eyes, and it’s seriously so uncomfortable.
It was then at this moment, I tried to push myself up, wanting to move, but my body somehow refused to cooperate. It was as though I were frozen in place.
At first, I thought Sona must have tied me to the bed or done something to restrain me, but when I looked around, everything seemed perfectly normal. No ropes, no signs of anything unusual. The room was quiet, aside from the sound of my own breath, which was growing more labored by the second.
Huh? What the hell was going on?
Hmm, something is not right here... For some reason, my body is acting strange. I would say I can still move, but the amount of effort I have to put in is crazy intense. Anyway, I lifted my right hand into the air in front of me, and what I saw left me utterly shocked.
Holy shit! I screamed internally, my mind racing with disbelief. What the fuck is this?!
I couldn’t believe my eyes. My body looked almost like a skeleton—so frail and skinny that it was barely recognizable. My skin clung tightly to my bones, and I felt weaker than ever before. It was as if everything that made me whole had been stripped away, leaving nothing but a hollow shell.
Oh, no! I immediately knew it must be Sona—she must have been the one who sucked all my blood while I was unconscious. That would explain why I’m so thin and weak right now.
I couldn’t help but let out a loud sigh, frustration building up inside me. I was furious, but more than that, I felt completely betrayed. I had willingly offered to help her, thinking she might treat me better, but instead, this is what I get.
And now, here I was, paying the price for my own kindness. Goddammit! This fucking ungrateful bitch! I can’t believe this is what I get for wanting to help her! Ugh, this is pissing me off!
Looking up at the intricate, beautiful ceiling, I couldn’t help but feel a sinking sensation in my chest. It hit me hard—I might have just made one of the biggest mistakes of my life by accepting this Hidden Quest. I had no idea it would lead to something like this. If I had known, there’s no way I would have agreed to it. I would’ve declined it without a second thought, no hesitation.
But now, here I am, stuck with the consequences. What good is regret now? It’s too late to back out. The decision has been made, and I’m left to face the mess I’ve gotten myself into.
Fuck! Why, of all people, did it have to be a goddamn Vampire Demigod?! Is the system out of its mind?! It expects me to take on a Demigod when I’m just a mere mortal?! This is fucking insane!
Suddenly:
BAAAMMM!!!
The door to the room blasted open, and there she was: Sona, stepping in like she owned this place.
