The Unkillable Godlike Cosmic Player -
Chapter 46: Strategy
Chapter 46: Strategy
As we descended toward the floating city, I couldn’t help but think it resembled something out of the anime Attack on Titan. Well, not exactly the same, of course—maybe 60% similar, with the remaining 40% having its own unique features. That said, this city was also much smaller in scale.
"Whoa! Look at that floating city! It’s so beautiful!" John exclaimed.
"Last time it was a floating colosseum, and now it’s a floating city, huh?" Thorin said with a hint of amusement.
"Impressive. It’s not just the city that’s picturesque—it’s also surrounded by rich nature, like a mix of forest and grassland outside the towering walls," Sasha said, clearly impressed.
...
...
Everyone kept chatting while falling, the sound of their voices and excitement blending with the rush of wind as we were slowly reaching our destination. And eventually:
BAAMM!!!
We slammed onto the floating city’s ground. While everyone else managed to land without a scratch, I found myself a little worse for wear, nursing a few bruises from the fall. Not that I was surprised—I’m, without a doubt, the weakest superhuman here, so the outcome was expected.
HEALING!
Right away, without missing a beat, Sasha stepped forward, taking the initiative to heal me. Her kindness, as always, was beyond words. I couldn’t help but think—this girl is far too kind for this world or this universe. With a pure heart like hers, she truly belongs to be in heaven, not here with the rest of us.
I was feeling a mix of frustration and sadness, especially after being forcefully abducted by the aliens. The feeling of being far away from Earth, a place I still missed deeply, weighed heavily on me.
However, knowing that there are still good people out there, willing to help and support me, gave me some sense of relief. It definitely helped clear some of the negativity in my mind and gave me a more positive outlook on life.
Ah, I wonder how my aunt and uncle are doing. They’re probably worried that I suddenly disappeared without a word... Well, as long as they’re safe and I’m still alive, that’s good enough for now. Wait for me, I’ll definitely return to Earth one day!
...
...
As soon as we landed in this fantasy-like floating city, we immediately set off to explore. Each of us went our separate ways, eager to check out this new place. I wasn’t sure why the third trial hadn’t started yet, despite what the aliens had said earlier. Maybe they were just giving us some time to get familiar with the city first before starting the main event? Well, who knows?
After about thirty minutes, we had finished exploring this entire city. It wasn’t surprising, though. This floating city wasn’t that big to begin with—it was more like just a small town. Nevertheless, considering there were only seven of us here, it still somehow felt surprisingly big.
So far, we hadn’t ventured outside the city yet to explore the mixed lush forest and grasslands that lay beyond the towering walls. Those open lands were still uncharted territory for us. Despite the city’s limited size, we’d already made plans to meet up at the Blue Crystal Altar once we were done exploring. It was where we agreed to gather before heading out to explore the far more dangerous areas outside the city.
Upon arriving at the Blue Crystal Altar, located at the very center of this city, we were struck silent by its sheer size. The altar was massive—easily towering at least 25 feet tall—and impressively thick as well. To make it even more remarkable, it seemed to float effortlessly in midair and glowed intensely.
There was something mysterious about it; the altar appeared to emit a faint magical energy. I couldn’t sense it myself since I’m not from the world of magic, but Thorin and the others seemed to pick up on it—at least, that’s what I heard when they were talking about it.
Out of nowhere, a massive holographic board appeared above the Blue Crystal Altar, displaying the following message for everyone to see:
[The 3rd Trial will begin in 15 minutes.]
[Trial Three: Protect the Blue Crystal Altar until sunset.]
"Protect the Blue Crystal Altar until the sunset?"
"Protect it from what? Hmm, don’t tell me we have to fight monsters again?"
"No idea. Well, I guess we’ll find out in about 15 minutes."
...
...
As they kept chatting, it was clear they weren’t familiar with tower defense games. Lucky for me, I played a lot of video games when I was younger, so I had some knowledge about it. Anyway, since we still have some time left before the third trial starts, I might as well explain to them what a tower defense challenge is. Though, honestly, there’s not much to explain anyway—after all, it’s mostly just killing monsters and defending the Crystal Altar.
Without wasting any time, I began explaining everything I knew to them. I also suggested a straightforward strategy to deal with the monsters. My plan was simple: close the south, west, and east gates, and leave the north gate wide open. With the north gate exposed, the monsters would likely use it as their point of entry.
In other words, all we had to do was focus on defending the north gate. For a moment, everyone seemed impressed by how clever I was. But honestly, I’m not a genius at all—I simply just had a lot of experience from playing a ton of strategy games, that’s all.
Nevertheless, Thorin, the party leader, was pleased and decided to go along with the plan I suggested.
"Alright, we’ll go with your plan," Thorin said to me.
SMACK!
Out of nowhere, John smacked my back hard and laughed, "Hahaha! Nice one, smart guy! I thought you were completely useless, but it turns out you’re pretty useful after all!"
And just like that, we began closing the south, east, and west gates, while leaving the north gate wide open as we waited for the monsters to spawn.
