Chapter 38: Feeling Sad
Chapter 38: Feeling Sad
"Nooooooooooooooo!!!" The scream tore through the air, raw and filled with fear. It came from a woman with fiery red hair, her presence radiating the aura of someone from the Mage class. Her trembling voice echoed around us, heightening the sense of urgency.
As I stared at her beautiful figure from behind, my gaze caught the unmistakable number #83,217 printed on the back of her robe. The realization hit me like a bolt of lightning—she must be the one. The one the alien prison guards were searching for.
This is unfortunate. I wished I could help her. I really did. But right now, I lack the power to do anything. Sadly, I knew this would be the last time I would ever see her. I don’t think she’s going to make it out alive.
Without mercy, the four alien prison guards dragged her out forcefully. She struggled with all her strength, but it was hopeless. In a last-ditch effort, she cast a powerful blast of fire magic at them, but their barrier shields absorbed it effortlessly, as if the fire attack were nothing more than a passing breeze.
What?! A-Are you kidding me?! What the hell is that barrier shield?! No way! It can even withstand magic attacks?! Fuck! I thought it could only defend against physical attacks, but to think that even magic damage has zero effect on it... this is beyond anything I imagined.
Man, this is getting too much. Those goddamn barrier shields are ridiculously too overpowered and totally unbalanced. Dammit, someone seriously needs to nerf that shit.
Unfortunately, at this moment, all I could do was stay back and watch in fear. Here I was, thinking I had gotten much stronger than before, but even an S-Rank Mage was no match for these aliens. Ugh, this almost made me want to give up hope... Sigh, I can now understand why these superhumans are so terrified to go against these aliens.
"Shut the fuck up!! And stop resisting, you fucking bitch!!" one of the alien guards sneered, smacking the female Mage’s leg with such force that it instantly snapped, breaking her leg in half.
CRACK!
"Aaaaaaaaaaaghhh!!! Noooooooo!! Someone, anyone!! Please help meeee!!!" she screamed, her cries filled with raw agony. Her gaze met ours, full of desperation, begging us to do something.
Fuck! This is pissing me off! I want to do something—anything—to help, but I can’t risk my life right now. Even though I know I can’t die and my regeneration will bring me back to life—but these aliens have technology that’s way beyond anything I’ve seen. They could probably find a way to suppress my regeneration, or worse, use it against me.
It’s truly unfortunate. As much as it hurts to just stand here and do nothing, I have to ignore the situation for now. My own safety comes first, and I need to stay alive long enough to figure out how to defeat these aliens.
I sighed, disappointed in myself for being so helpless, unable to do anything for the female mage in front of me. I should’ve done something, anything, but all I could do was watch as she was dragged away by the aliens, her cries echoing in my ears.
I felt paralyzed, frozen in place by fear. And it wasn’t just me—around me, the other superhumans were just as useless. None of them tried to fight back or save her. They stood still, like me, terrified and unable to make a move. We were all watching, helpless, knowing we should be doing something, but none of us had the courage to act. Regardless, it wasn’t anyone’s fault; we were just too weak to do anything about it.
BAAMM!!
After the aliens dragged her away, the cell door slammed shut, and just like that, the female magician was gone. I don’t know what will happen to her, nor do I want to know, but one thing is clear—whatever the reason is, it won’t be good.
After what happened, everyone fell silent for a while. Witnessing something so brutal had crushed their spirits. I could tell by their expressions—they had given up hope, accepting that escape was impossible and death was inevitable. It almost reminded me of farm animals waiting to be slaughtered.
A few days later...
Over the past few days, things had been quite peaceful, with nothing significant happening. The alien guards didn’t seem to bother us, though they kept an eye on us every now and then. Feeling bored, I occasionally chatted with the other superhumans. We introduced ourselves and talked about our worlds. In a way, it made me feel a little happy—knowing that I’m not alone and there was someone I could talk to.
Meanwhile, when I wasn’t chatting with them, I would spend my free time working on my daily quest exercises. Of course, a few days weren’t nearly enough to complete 10,000,000,000 reps per exercise. But no matter how small the progress is, I couldn’t afford to be lazy.
...
...
A few weeks later...
As time passed, one by one, the superhumans in my cell were dragged away, and eventually, only two of us were left—me and that muscular Warrior named "Gunnar Blue." After getting to know each other for quite some time now, we sort of became friends.
However, today marks Gunnar’s last day. Just a few days ago, the aliens had already given him their warning—he would be the next one to go. It wasn’t a surprise, really. The aliens had made it clear that one by one, we would all be taken away. Of course, after Gunnar, I’m next.
BAAMM!!!
Suddenly, the four alien prison guards barged into our cell, just like last time.
"Alright, Prisoner #17,322, time’s up! Get up and follow us now!" one of the alien guards commanded, his voice cold and filled with disdain.
Without saying anything or putting up a fight, Gunnar obediently got up and left with the aliens, leaving me all alone in this cell.
Watching Gunnar walk away, I knew it was only a matter of time before my time was up. I gritted my teeth, frustration eating at me. It pissed me off, but at the same time, I knew I wasn’t ready to fight the aliens yet. For now, I had to hold back, focus on getting stronger, and wait for the right moment.
Ugh, goddamn aliens! I’ll never forgive you all for putting me through hell! One day, I’ll definitely destroy every last one of you!
