Chapter 123: Chapter 119_3

Bai Su immediately let go and lay flat, gazing at her earnestly.

Rong Zhi: "..."

She couldn’t undo Bai Su’s shirt no matter how hard she tried, lost her patience, and simply pulled it sideways with force, popping off two buttons. Then, she placed the thermometer under his armpit, "Hold it tight."

Bai Su obediently squeezed his arm and mumbled, "Little brother, no need to be so anxious, I’m willing."

Rong Zhi crossed her arms with a blank expression.

Who bought this thermometer? Couldn’t they get a digital one?

She pulled a chair next to the bed, propped a leg on the bedside, and took out her phone to start writing a prescription.

A few minutes later, she received the candy stick and thermometer from Bai Su, glanced at it, 38.9 degrees.

High fever.

He might be burnt silly, yet he still smiled at her like nothing was wrong.

Rong Zhi thought perhaps she should prefix the clingy guy with ’idiot.’

Looks like there’s no hope for rest tonight.

After putting the thermometer back into the tube and sealing it in the medicine box, she didn’t bother talking to the guy on the bed who still eagerly wanted to chat. She just handed over the prepared warm water, "Sit up and drink some."

Bai Su slowly sat up from under the covers, his messy hair brushed playfully aside, and as he drank water from her hand, a few strands touched Rong Zhi’s lips.

Annoyed, she brushed them away.

Bai Su quickly lifted his head.

The two were so close; this movement almost brushed against Rong Zhi’s face. It wasn’t until they both realized that they were less than a finger apart.

His handsome, charming features magnified right in front of her.

"..."

Rong Zhi abruptly withdrew her hand and pushed the chair back off the bed, calmly standing up, "Don’t sleep yet, eat something."

As she left, she could still hear Bai Su’s restrained laughter from behind.

...Hopefully, he isn’t really burnt silly.

-

Past eight in the evening, the pot of millet porridge was thick and sticky, Rong Zhi packed a portion and asked Rong Jiazze to take it to the hospital. She just received a message from He Songzhi that Rong Fengmian went to the hospital instead of coming home.

Thinking he might not have eaten, Rong Zhi added a bowl of noodles to the thermos.

For the rest, she brought it to Bai Su.

Jiang Gujun waved at her from the door, "I’d appreciate it if Mr. Rong could help take care of Mr. Su, I’ll bring Jiazze back later."

Rong Zhi nodded.

When she returned, carrying a few items, the sound of them being placed on the bedside table woke Bai Su. He opened his eyes, and only sat up propped against the bed when Rong Zhi called him.

"Drink some porridge."

A bowl of soft, sticky millet porridge was placed in front, the steam trailing towards him.

He looked at the porridge, then Rong Zhi, hesitatingly moved his hands under the blanket, pursed his lips, and murmured, "No strength."

Rong Zhi nearly shoved the bowl in his mouth.

Taking a deep breath to suppress the urge to hit him, she scooped a big spoonful and waited two or three seconds before feeding it to the man’s lips.

Bai Su lowered his gaze, opened his mouth to swallow, his beautiful almond-shaped eyes curved into a satisfied smile.

The bowl of porridge was quickly consumed, Bai Su contentedly licked the corners of his lips, his complexion slightly returned to a rosy hue.

Rong Zhi set the bowl aside and grabbed a cooling patch, tore it open, casually ruffled his hair, and placed it directly on his forehead.

"...Hiss."

Bai Su gasped from the cold.

"Is it cold?" Rong Zhi frowned, indeed, these cooling patches weren’t very effective; she’d make a new one later.

Bai Su shook his head.

Endured through the initial chill, now it felt rather comfortable.

Rong Zhi acknowledged, sat on the stool beside him, "Sleep."

Bai Su touched the cooling patch on his forehead, then suddenly reached out from under the blanket, grabbed the young man’s wrist, and pulled him onto the bed forcefully.

Rong Zhi was prepared, kneeling on the bed with one knee to steady herself, while the other foot stayed grounded, watching Bai Su slowly lift an eyebrow.

"...Ah," Bai Su drawled, "Failed in my attempt to sleep with little brother."

Even sick, he was restless.

Rong Zhi turned his mischievous hand around, warning, "If you don’t sleep, I’m leaving right now."

"Don’t."

Bai Su leaned closer to her shoulder nook, the scent of wood and incense exclusive to the youth filled his nostrils. He lightly nuzzled against it before contentedly closing his eyes and reclining back.

Rong Zhi sneered at him, while he obediently shut his eyes, preparing for sleep.

Exhausted, Bai Su soon fell into a deep slumber.

Rong Zhi sat by his side, checking his pulse once during this time, ensured there were no other issues temporarily, and left him be.

-

First People’s Hospital.

Rong Jiazze stared blankly at the scattered bowls and food on the ground, cluelessly pinched his fingers, and looked up at the guy in front of him, "Feng Mian, what are you doing..."

Rong Feng Mian focused on the porridge grain that fell on his shoe, pursed his lips, and remained silent.
