Chapter 122: Chapter 119_2
After speaking, she walked towards the bathroom.
In the bathroom, the man was vomiting so violently that it seemed like he wanted to throw out his intestines.
Rong Zhi knocked on the door and asked, "Are you okay?"
Bai Su hadn’t eaten much in the morning, and he had just vomited up all the medicine he had taken. Now his stomach was empty, cramped in pain, feeling terrible, and he couldn’t immediately respond to her query.
Seeing him squatting on the ground without moving, Rong Zhi’s furrowed brow grew deeper, and she repeated the question.
"Hey, buddy."
After a while, Bai Su reached out his hand, turned around and smiled at her, "Could you give me a hand?"
Rong Zhi’s gaze swept over his pale lips and face. Without a word, she walked in to help him up.
But the next second, she regretted it.
The man almost placed all his weight on her, his chin rested and gently rubbed against her shoulder, and his hands unceremoniously wrapped around her waist, loosely hugging her.
From behind, it looked as if Bai Su was affectionately holding a young boy, the pose quite intimate.
Rong Zhi moved her hand, almost dropping him.
"Don’t rub against me like that."
The slightly warm breath fell next to her neck, making Rong Zhi a bit uncomfortable.
Bai Su emitted a sound from his throat, responding.
He didn’t move again, and Rong Zhi bit her lip and helped him to her room.
There wasn’t an empty room; the only available one was Fu Yaoyao’s, and Rong Zhi surely couldn’t let Bai Su, a grown man, sleep in her junior sister’s room, so she had to be the one to compromise.
Rong Zhi laid him down and turned to leave, but a cold hand quickly grabbed her wrist.
She turned her head, "What’s wrong?"
Bai Su looked up, his refined face slightly pale. He frowned, speaking uncomfortably, "Buddy, I’m really hurting."
He pointed at his stomach, then at his head, speaking slowly, "It hurts here, and here, both hurt."
Rong Zhi met his gaze, her eyes pausing. Her thin lips parted lightly, "I understand, let go first."
Bai Su was quite stubborn, "I won’t."
Rong Zhi: "..."
Arguing about this was meaningless, especially considering he was ill; resisting might make him struggle even more. Rong Zhi sighed softly, "How can I help you if you don’t let go?"
Bai Su blinked, "You really won’t leave?"
"I won’t."
Only then did Bai Su release his grip.
He gave a slight smile, his peach blossom eyes curving, the brilliance of his gaze startling.
Rong Zhi looked away, leaving the room.
Behind her.
Bai Su furrowed his brows, took off his coat, lay down on the bed, tucked himself in, pressed his stomach a couple of times, and immediately pained him to the point where cold sweat broke out on his forehead, his throat itching again, causing him to curl up and cough repeatedly.
-
Jiang Gujun and Rong Jiazze had already brought out the prepared dishes; the pot of porridge had just finished cooking, simmered with some medicinal herbs for dispelling cold, smelling quite fragrant.
But recalling the man’s earlier reaction.
Rong Zhi waved her hand, "You guys eat this pot; Jiazze, please cook another pot of porridge for me."
Rong Jiazze first served Jiang Gujun a bowl of noodles. Upon hearing, he nodded and then asked in confusion, "Is brother not eating?"
"Later."
She needed to tend to the patient in the room first.
Neither Western nor Chinese medicine was agreeable; since the medicine was fine, it had to be a psychological issue. Rong Zhi felt a bit troubled; she hadn’t studied psychology, unsure how to guide him through such situations.
But upon second thought, Bai Su didn’t seem to hate herbal candy.
She returned to the room intending to find candy; just as she pushed the door open, she saw a mound on the bed; Bai Su was huddled entirely under the covers, only revealing the nape of his neck, not moving at all.
"Bai Su?"
Rong Zhi frowned, went over, and lifted the blanket.
The man seemed a bit dazed and looked up.
That uncomfortable?
Also, wasn’t his face a bit too red?
Rong Zhi reached out and touched his forehead, feeling how extremely hot it was.
"You have a fever."
Bai Su’s face showed signs of bewilderment.
"Don’t move around." She tucked the blanket back over him, leaving his head exposed, and casually got a stick of candy from the bedside table. She peeled it open and handed it to his lips, "Suck on this."
After speaking, she pushed the candy forward, pressed it against his lips. Bai Su gazed at her dazedly then obediently opened his lips to bite the candy.
The orange flavor exploded in the mouth, its tangy sweetness quite refreshing.
Bai Su closed his eyes, his tongue slowly licking the candy.
Rong Zhi went to the living room to find a thermometer. Jiang Gujun and Jiazze were in the kitchen; she glanced over seeing no issue and returned to the room.
Feeling someone tugging at his collar in a daze, Bai Su opened his eyes to see Rong Zhi and quickly grabbed her hand, "What are you doing, kid?"
Opening his mouth filled only with breathy sounds, soft but weak.
"Checking your temperature," Rong Zhi handed him the thermometer, "Now that you’re awake, do it yourself."
