The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse
Chapter 577 - 570 This is a True Expert

Chapter 577: Chapter 570 This is a True Expert

Three closely formed helicopters suddenly changed their formation pattern, separating from a dense formation, with the helicopters quickly dispersing.

They were not only launching an assault, but also surrounding the enemy.

This was merely what the drone had observed, yet according to the usual, pre-apocalyptic situation, transport helicopters wouldn’t possibly be without armed helicopter protection.

If there was protection, it would certainly be used, and with the Solar System Company deploying transport helicopters, would they lack attack helicopters?

Watching the changes on the screen, Larry’s expression grew uglier, and then he said in a low voice, "The enemy’s communication has been restored, they should be urgently landing now. If Ram can seize the only chance and loophole to use the helicopters, then he should be aware of this, but they’re not doing so, they’re continuing to fly, which means they’re not worried about being shot down... "

After speaking, Larry fell silent. He shook his head, his face a mix of disappointment and pain, and ordered, "Retreat! Retreat quickly!"

Thompson pondered for a moment, then said, "Our allies need time, those helicopters will be shot down!"

Thompson appeared extremely confident, but Larry did not see it that way, and he roared with immense anger and determination, "The Aliens are not our allies, for we are not qualified to be allies of the Aliens, you damn, all you damn schemers, when will you understand that strength, only strength can determine your status! Now, leave this place with me at once! I brought you here so I must take you away! Go!"

Thompson shook his head and then said calmly, "We can retreat, but we can’t just retreat like this, that would be the end of everything, and I don’t want..."

Larry raised a finger, pointing it at Thompson, and said softly, "Murphy was right, you are a prideful idiot. How could the Elder Council ever trust you ambitious lot?"

This was a falling out, but before Thompson could retort or fight back, Larry turned on his heel, and as he stomped away, he bellowed, "Follow me!"

Larry was deserting in the face of the enemy, and no matter his justifications, fleeing was still fleeing.

The drone force’s commander was stunned for a moment. He didn’t know what to do, whom to listen to, or whether to flee with Larry or stay and follow Thompson’s orders.

Though only one drone remained, the drone control center had taken on more significance as it had become both a communications and command center, so it could not be abandoned nor could its personnel be allowed to leave.

Thompson roared immediately, "Nobody is allowed to leave! Keep an eye on them!"

Thompson had brought his trusted people with him. Two bodyguards cum guards immediately drew their pistols, and then, Thompson loudly ordered, "Bring Murphy to me, and if that coward Larry wants to run, don’t stop him, but don’t let him take Murphy with him!"

Someone immediately ran off, so inside the drone control vehicle, only one armed guard was left. To pacify the drone operators, Thompson had to do something.

"You don’t need to be nervous, trust me, don’t be too tense. Let me give you an analysis. First, our location is confidential, right? The enemy won’t easily find our position, and then, even if we assume Murphy truly is a Solar System Company mole and he has leaked the secrets here, it’s alright because we have a strong force guarding this place, don’t we?"

At this point, the drone commander didn’t dare say anything, but one of his subordinates mustered the courage to say, "Sir, Mr. Murphy couldn’t possibly be a mole for the Solar System Company. Also... this place is the headquarters, our radio communication is extremely busy every day. We know where the enemy’s headquarters are, and they know where our headquarters are, this is simply accomplished through basic positioning technology and there’s no need to frequently relocate because we both know that the other side can’t attack us without breaking through several layers of defense first."

Thompson looked at the private and then the private took another deep breath and said, "I know I shouldn’t say this, but I think, since the enemy has helicopters, they could bypass our ground defenses and directly attack our headquarters, and this has nothing to do with Mr. Murphy. Also, my advice is that you better evacuate here quickly because this place has become very dangerous."

The smile on Thompson’s face began to fade, and then he said to the private, "Do you think I’m an idiot? Do I need you to explain these basic principles to me? Do you know how many guards there are here? If the enemy dares to come, then they must all die here!"

The so-called ’scolding with one’s mouth but approving in heart’ was exactly what Thompson was doing.

Just after scolding the private, Thompson, as he turned around, made a meaningful gesture to his confidant, also his guard.

If the situation really was that dangerous, not evacuating would indeed make him a real idiot.

"Go inform the guards here to strengthen the defense, have them deploy more people around us, if the enemy dares to come, they must be annihilated here, go quickly!"

Ordering his subordinates to notify the guards was simply a ruse, because anything that needed to be said could have already been communicated over the radio long ago.

What Thompson meant by gesturing was that they should evacuate as soon as possible; he believed his subordinate would understand his signal, and then whether Thompson was going to find a car or prepare to escape on foot, his subordinate would soon find out upon leaving.

Larry had already fled from the battlefield; after returning, he would face much criticism, but that was okay as long as he was alive to face it.

Thompson was the craftiest of the crafty; he might not be skilled in fighting, but in verbal sparring, no one was his match.

Thompson was anxious inside, but his face remained calm; performing actions like Larry, who retreated in name but in reality deserted everyone on the battlefield, had already doomed his political career. Thompson, however, was different; even if he had to flee, no, withdraw, he would do it in an unimpeachable way.

"Mr. Thompson, you better come here, there’s a problem."

Less than twenty seconds had passed when Thompson’s second bodyguard appeared at the door of the control vehicle and said with a serious face, "Sir, Mr. Larry has messed things up, and now you need to stabilize the situation."

"What? That damn..."

Thompson immediately turned and left the control vehicle, his bodyguard whispered in his ear, "Get in the car! We’re leaving in the vehicle, not too far, just to assess the situation..."

Thompson said loudly, "Understood! I’ll stop him!"

"If the situation is good, we’ll come back; if not, we’ll wait. What we need to guard against is being hit by the Solar System in an airstrike, as missiles and autocannons are still very dangerous. We’ll return to take control of the situation once our people have nearly taken out the enemy."

The bodyguard was an expert, and Thompson was very satisfied. As he briskly walked toward a car, he saw Murphy being escorted by three men.

This Murphy could not be allowed to live; he must be a mole. Thompson pointed at Murphy and shouted, "Bring him here, I want to interrogate him!"
