Chapter 476: Chapter 469: Don’t Recognize

The purpose of the control tower is to manage the airport’s traffic flow, which is why its formal name should be "control tower," but it’s called a control tower because such buildings generally look like towers.

Control towers are usually the tallest buildings at an airport, and their top floors have excellent visibility, making it convenient to monitor the entire airport, so they are generally built very tall. However, Malakal Airport’s control tower is different. Because the airport is too small, and the airplanes too small, the control tower is just about twenty meters high and quite small.

Being small has its advantages for the enemy, making it easier to defend, but Malakal Airport’s simple control tower is not for a single purpose, which is somewhat luxurious for an airport in an extremely backward region. Therefore, the tower also serves several other purposes, and the top floor doesn’t have a 360-degree view, just a lot of windows. The floors below are just regular floors.

The windows of the control tower’s top floor were open, so those defending inside the tower could conveniently throw hand grenades down.

No sooner had Li Jinfang and his team gone out did they have to immediately retreat back, and then Li Jinfang bellowed, "Hand grenades!"

Gao Yang had already suppressed the enemy. The doors between the two buildings faced each other, and the distance between the two buildings was only about thirty meters. With just a few shots, he could eliminate all the enemies that had been blockading them.

However, firing from the holes in the wall, the field of fire was inevitably limited. Gao Yang couldn’t target the higher-placed enemies, so for the time being, he couldn’t deal with the enemies throwing hand grenades down from the top floor.

While Satan’s assault was fierce and strong, they were not foolish. They liked to confront the enemy head-on but would never face off against the enemy’s hand grenades recklessly.

Anxious, Gao Yuan watched as Satan’s attack hit a snag, but he was capable of resolving this dilemma.

"Let me do it! I can take them out directly if I go out!"

Gao Yuan volunteered, but Gao Yang didn’t even look at him.

Pulling his gun out from the hole, Gao Yang immediately went behind the door at the end of the hallway. A hand grenade had just exploded outside, and its fragments had created several small bullet holes in the wooden door.

"Give me your gun."

Gao Yang stretched out his hand to Fly, letting go of his own shotgun to let it hang at his right side, and then he took the MP7 submachine gun Fly handed to him.

"Full magazine."

Gao Yang took a breath and then whispered softly, "Countdown, 3, 2, 1, go!"

This time Li Jinfang didn’t kick the door; he gently pushed the door open, and Gao Yang dashed out in a flash.

If after exiting he had to face the upward fire from the tower, Gao Yang was helpless; he couldn’t neutralize enemies in every direction at once. But now, with only the remaining enemies on the top floor of the tower still able to threaten him, he could be the spearhead of the assault.

Once outside, Gao Yang immediately raised his hands. The distance between the two doors was thirty meters, and the enemy was on the top floor, at a height of about twenty meters. If the enemy throwing the hand grenade didn’t look outside at all, he wouldn’t have much chance to shoot the enemy. But if the enemy needed to observe the conditions below before throwing a hand grenade, then he wouldn’t have the chance to throw it.

Indeed, as Gao Yang appeared, an enemy behind a top floor window was about to throw a hand grenade he was already holding, but Gao Yang’s gun fired first.

With just one shot, the enemy, who had only shown half of his head in Gao Yang’s line of sight, was immediately blown open at the top of the head. The hand grenade did not make it out the window but dropped to the floor at the very moment before it could be thrown.

"Up!"

Gao Yang held his gun and spoke, Li Jinfang immediately charged out, followed by Fly, Ailin, and several members of the assault team sprinted towards the tower gate.

Gao Yang still held his gun without moving; the grenade exploded on the top floor of the tower, which made the assault much easier.

The first group had already stormed into the tower, Li Jinfang said urgently over the radio, "First floor controlled, safe."

Gao Yang commanded again, "Go up!"

Skunk and Turtle, who were behind Gao Yang, immediately rushed towards the tower, while Gao Yang moved with small steps, his submachine gun always aimed at the top floor of the tower, until he completely lost his line of fire and then suddenly accelerated into the tower.

Gao Yang fired just one shot, only a single shot, and he had resolved the crisis, taking control of the situation.

"Second floor controlled, safe!"

"Third floor controlled, safe!"

After entering the tower, it had only been a short twenty seconds when Satan’s call came consecutively through the radio. Then, about two minutes later, Gao Yang finally spoke gravely into the radio, "Tower controlled, we’ve found some things here, tech team move in, support team converge on us, establish a defensive position, over."

Gao Yuan picked up the hydrogen cylinders; he was the first to enter the tower.

Two men were left on the first floor of the tower, Turtle and Skunk, both holding guns, one on the left and one on the right, guarding behind the door. After everyone entered, Turtle nodded his head and whispered, "The item is on the third floor, go on up."

Gao Yuan shouldered the hydrogen cylinders and scurried up the stairs; the floor was not short, but the space was small, just one room, roughly a hundred square meters in size.

The ladder inside the building was somewhat steep. Clambering up the metal ladder to the second floor, Gao Yuan saw two bodies lying on the floor at the bottom. When he reached the third floor, he saw Gao Yang standing in the room, with a row of unlit but softly humming machines behind him.

A thick electrical cable was on the third floor, and it had been pulled in from a window on the other side. The hundred square meter space was half occupied by several large iron cabinets, which gave the impression of a computer room.

Xinghe and Wang Buliuxing followed up. Upon seeing Xinghe, Gao Yang immediately asked, "Is it these?"

After a glance, Xinghe promptly replied, "It’s here, but I don’t know specifically which equipment it is."

Gao Yang looked at Wang Buliuxing, who was panting, licking his lips. He pulled a pair of pliers from his tool bag, panting, "Let me look, let me look... I need to open the cabinets."

The cabinets were closed but not locked. Wang Buliuxing opened the first one, saying, "This is power, a transformer, a big transformer. What needs so much electricity?"

The thick cable connected several boxes, with Gao Yang and his team not waiting for Wang Buliuxing to start; they quickly went ahead and opened all the cabinets.

Wang Buliuxing swiftly moved past a row of cabinets and then stopped, pointing to a piece of equipment inside a metal cabinet and yelled, "This one! It’s definitely this one!"

Gao Yang asked urgently, "Are you sure? How did you know?"

Wang Buliuxing said gravely, "It’s the only thing I don’t recognize. I know what all the other items are, and what they’re used for, but this is the only thing I completely don’t recognize, so it must be this."
