Chapter 353: Chapter 346: The Sea Route

Israel offered excellent conditions with an abundance of food, but Gao Yuan dared not eat too much.

Because if someone could eat enough for a hundred people, no matter how well he hid it, his non-human nature would inevitably be exposed.

Therefore, Spark Squad asked Israel for a bit more supplies and had Cao Zhenjiang cook separately so that everyone else ate less, allowing Gao Yuan to accumulate as much energy as possible.

Gao Yuan and his companions were left hanging for two days; during these days, Avi did not appear, and it was as if Israel had forgotten they existed.

The four Russians were neglected as well.

Huddling together for warmth, or perhaps out of a natural affinity, Spark Squad formed a rather close bond with the four Russians – not like brothers, but the relationship was still pretty good.

"Hey, Yuri."

Gao Yuan greeted Yuri in Russian and then smiled at the muscular man with the green hat, "Hello, Green Hat."

Green Hat, of course, had a name; his name was Endelostrovinich Kovosnov.

This name was manageable in Russian, but in Chinese, it was a disaster, so without any hesitation, Gao Yuan chose to call him Green Hat.

Yuri and Green Hat slowly walked over. Yuri lit up a cigarette, then casually offered one to Cao Zhenjiang, saying, "It’s okay if we come to eat with you guys tonight, right?"

Offering cigarettes to others was a common practice among Shenzhou People but rare among foreigners, who usually smoked their own and seldom offered a cigarette to someone else.

But Yuri was different; whenever he smoked, if he knew someone else smoked too, he would habitually offer one.

Gao Yuan quite liked this about Yuri.

Cao Zhenjiang took the cigarette, lit it with Yuri’s lighter, and said, "Sure, just tell them to bring your supplies directly here. Oh, and ask for more, just say you guys are still hungry."

Renato hung out with Gao Yuan and his group as well. Though he obviously should have been closer to Andrew and his crew, he chose not to; he preferred to stay with Gao Yuan, Yuri, and the others.

"Captain, is there any news today?"

Yuri seemed anxious as he spoke softly, "The people of Israel are not saying anything, nor do they let us leave. Could it be they want to keep us under soft imprisonment?"

Renato waved his hand dismissively, "That’s impossible, absolutely not. However, the people of Israel indeed haven’t shared any news today."

Those brought by Andrew felt like they had arrived in paradise upon reaching Israel, with food and drink aplenty and no safety worries. Those willing to stay in Israel were swiftly relocated elsewhere, and the pregnant women were especially well taken care of.

Andrew was probably feeling dejected by now, rapidly stripped of his influence, but what could he do? It’s very likely that Andrew might end up staying in Israel and possibly joining the military.

Yet, this stable life was meaningless for Gao Yuan and his companions, and also for Yuri. It only made them restless.

After all, Gao Yuan and his group had a mission, and the Russians still wanted to do something. Without a specific task, they were willing to help out Spark Squad with their work—anything to avoid idleness.

Gao Yuan was also anxious, but what good was that? Avi hadn’t shown up since he left, and Gao Yuan couldn’t find him either.

But sometimes things just work out; just as Gao Yuan was worrying, Avi and a man in military uniform came straight to them.

"Captain Gao, we need to talk."

Avi nodded politely to Yuri and his group, then went straight to the point, refusing to discuss with anyone except Gao Yuan.

"Fine, fine," Gao Yuan responded.

Inviting with a gesture, Avi led Gao Yuan and Li Yang back to the same room they had met in previously.

Cutting straight to the chase and wasting no time, Avi sat down on the chair and said directly, "After careful consideration, my country has decided to offer you the necessary assistance. But now, you need to make a choice regarding the specific route."

Avi gestured toward the person sitting beside him and said, "This is Major Seville from the navy, Major, the map."

The major spread out the map he had been holding, which showed several penciled routes.

Avi took the map and, pointing to it, said, "To reach Africa, you have three routes to choose from. The first is overland, through the Sinai Peninsula, via the Suez Canal, but this route is too risky and should be discounted.

Second, head east into Jordan, then turn south into Shah, where you can choose to board a ship in Tuvu City within Shah to cross the Red Sea to Egypt, or if on land, travel even further from Yemen across the Red Sea to Djibouti, or at a nearby coast to land. This route is mainly land-based but requires a long detour and the timing is uncertain.

The third route is to set sail directly from Travi. We can use a large, unpowered sailing vessel to travel through the Mediterranean Sea, round the Sinai Peninsula and the Nile Delta, landing at your chosen location. This route is the safest and our preferred option."

With the navy sending someone, what else is there to say? Israel had surely already settled on this route.

After exchanging glances, Gao Yuan took a breath and asked, "Taking the searoute, you say?"

Avi said gravely, "This is the only choice. But no matter which route you take, you’ll need to cross the sea, so vehicles will have to be abandoned."

Gao Yuan hesitated briefly and then inquired, "Will there be danger on the sea route? Could the aliens launch an attack?"

Avi nodded and replied, "The aliens attack all large ships, and our naval power is completely paralyzed. However, we have discovered that unpowered vessels are safe, as are smaller boats. To ensure your safety to the greatest extent possible, we’ve chosen to use an unpowered sailing ship, which should prevent alien attacks."

"Unpowered sailing ships, how many people can they carry?" Gao Yuan asked.

After pondering, Avi answered, "Our largest unpowered sailing vessel has a displacement of three hundred and thirty tons and a length of 46 meters. It’s a yacht, but we can use it to take you to Africa."

With the route selected, the vessel arranged, and the personnel apparently chosen—if he guessed correctly, Major Seville was the navy officer assigned to transport them—what more was there to discuss?

"All right, we can go by sea," Gao Yuan decided.

Avi nodded, then asked in a deep voice, "To where are you headed?"

"Uh, if we sail along the coast, can we head directly near Biliyasulte?" Gao Yuan asked.

Since they had to take a ship, and safety was assured, of course, the aim was to go directly to the destination.

Near Biliyasulte, there was an important hub or base that Gao Yuan and his team needed to reach, where they could find all the resources they required. Naturally, these resources were originally intended for the Expeditionary Army, but even with the Expeditionary Army gone, leaving only Spark Squad, they could still make use of them.

Avi nodded and said, "That can be arranged. Once you’ve chosen your landing spot, get ready. We’ll depart tonight."
