The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 347 - 340
Chapter 347: 340
Renato had a short chat with General Yaral Bennett, who had hurried over, but they didn’t talk for long. After a few minutes, Yaral walked towards Gao Yuan and his group, prompting Gao Yuan to step away from the armored vehicle he had been leaning against to meet him.
Meeting a general, it was certainly correct to don a military uniform and initiate a salute.
Gao Yuan saluted, and Yaral returned the gesture. They shook hands, and then Yaral promptly said, "Hello, I am Yaral Bennett, Major General of the Israel Defense Forces Army. You are from Shenzhou, right? You must be exhausted."
Gao Yuan couldn’t understand him, but after waiting for Li Yang to translate, he smiled and said, "My name is Gao Yuan, captain of the Spark Squad of Shenzhou. I’m pleased to meet you, General."
Yaral didn’t shake hands with Panxin and the others one by one. Instead, he looked at Yuri, who had also stepped forward, saluted, and casually said, "Yuri Zayakov, Russia Signal Flag, Major, pleased to meet you."
Yaral nodded in acknowledgment, and then looking at Yuri, he said, "From Israel."
"Yes, we were trapped in Israel. I wonder if we’re welcome here, General."
Yaral shrugged and responded, "As long as you’re fighting the aliens, you’re welcome here. Hello, Major."
Yaral saluted back and then reached out to shake hands with Yuri too.
After meeting with the two commanders, Yaral glanced at his watch, then looking at Renato who was coming up from behind, he said, "How much longer will they need?"
Renato waved his hand and called out loudly, "Call the colonel, ask them how far out they are."
An American who had stayed inside the armored vehicle contacted Andrew via radio, then he shouted out, "Ten-plus kilometers, about half an hour to arrival."
Hearing the answer, Yaral scratched his head and then said in a deep voice, "There’s still some time then. We’ll wait here."
After speaking, Yaral said to Gao Yuan in a gentle manner, "How’s the situation in Shenzhou?"
"Shenzhou... it’s not good. We are a primary target of the aliens, and there’s an alien mothership hovering over our country."
Before Gao Yuan could finish, Yaral spoke gravely, "I’m aware of that. Currently, there are two alien motherships, one over America and one over Shenzhou, and they have never moved. We’ve known this for a while. What I want to know is the casualty rate, whether you can still control the military, whether you have organized military forces remaining? And the people, are they able to carry on with production activities?"
Gao Yuan thought briefly and said, "Our casualty rate is around sixty percent. The cities had high casualty rates, so only about twenty percent of the urban population survived, but we have many shelters, and there are abundant food and various supplies ready. The rural population has a much higher survival rate."
Yaral seemed amazed and asked, "Such a high survival rate? Is it really that high?"
Without waiting for Li Yang to finish translating, Yaral continued, "Hmm, these numbers are believable. I trust that Shenzhou is the country that has preserved its strength the best. Your governmental structure and the quality of your people give you an advantage in dealing with this kind of crisis better than any other country. So, what about the military?"
Gao Yuan calmly said, "We have dispatched an Expeditionary Army of about ten thousand people."
Yaral’s expression changed at once, and Gao Yuan spread his hands, saying, "But we realized that if we had too many personnel, we would attract significant attention from the aliens. So we had no choice but to abandon the idea of sending large troops and instead formed this small squad."
Yaral exhaled a sigh and said, "With the current conditions, being able to send an expeditionary force of thousands is remarkable."
"We have three mega-sized underground bases with factories, research institutions and staff, and of course, soldiers. Each mega-sized underground base has a population of several million. Our underground factories have already resumed production."
Some things must never be revealed, while others must be spoken. It’s not about bragging for the sake of feeling good; it’s about bringing hope to those who are desperate. In this way, many things become easier to handle.
Yaral was silent for a long time, then nodded finally and said, "Shenzhou is going to become the strongest country in the world eventually, we all know that. But the alien invasion has accelerated this process. All right, I must admit, the hope of humanity is now in Shenzhou."
After finishing, Yaral sighed regretfully and said, "You have done your best, which is admirable, but unfortunately, the enemy is extraterrestrial. So, under the focused attacks from the aliens, how long can you hold out? Have you made any predictions?"
Gao Yuan fell into thought, and Yaral whispered, "I regret asking this, but I must ask. Because once Shenzhou and America completely fall, it will be our turn next. I want to know, I really want to know, how much time have the aliens left us? If you have calculated this, will you tell me?"
Gao Yuan had never discussed these issues with anyone before, but now that Yaral had asked, he decided to speak earnestly about them.
"We will achieve victory."
As Gao Yuan spoke these words calmly, and Li Yang translated with a face full of conviction, Renato wore an expression of helplessness, shrugged his shoulders, and Yuri made a face. As for Yaral, he nodded slightly, then let out a soft sigh.
Gao Yuan raised his voice slightly and said, "We will surely achieve victory because we have found a way to counter the aliens. Do you think we have been sent merely for a last-ditch struggle? No, that’s not the case. We are here because we see hope."
Finally, Yaral’s expression changed. After looking at Gao Yuan twice, he suddenly said, "You don’t look like a soldier, I mean, you’re different from the soldiers I am accustomed to."
Gao Yuan wanted to say how you could tell, but Yaral continued, "You’re the captain, so I believe you must possess some quality or skill that others don’t have. Are you a scientist then?"
"I am not."
"Then what is your role as the captain of Spark Squad?"
Looking at Yaral’s puzzled face, Gao Yuan thought for a moment and decided to say, "Actually, I... it’s classified. Besides, I am indeed a soldier; I’m a new recruit, but a soldier nonetheless."
Yaral smiled and said, "Oh? I apologize."
Just then, Yuri suddenly interjected, "May I ask if any of you know how Russia is doing? Do you have any information?"
Yaral looked at Gao Yuan, who shook his head. Only after Gao Yuan had shaken his head did Yaral say, with a serious face, "Russia... it’s not in good shape. We have detected at least twenty-six large-scale surface thermonuclear reactions. I suppose it’s not good; otherwise, you wouldn’t be detonating mushroom bombs on your own territory."
