Chapter 338: Chapter 331 Upgraded Version

Two Foxhounds, separated by over a hundred meters, quickly headed towards the direction where the Persians had just been spotted.

In the lead vehicle were Gao Yuan, Li Yang, and Renato, while all the other people were in the vehicle behind. This arrangement was made because if the Persians truly bore hostile intentions, it would be up to the armored vehicle behind to suppress them, and then Gao Yuan and the others would look for an opportunity to escape.

A Shenzhou National Flag fluttered noisily on the lead armored vehicle, and it was this flag that gave Gao Yuan the confidence to drive directly towards them.

Gao Yuan and Renato stared each other down in the crew cabin.

"What do you want to say?"

"What do you want to say."

Renato pointed a finger at Gao Yuan and shook it twice, then said with a serious face, "Buddy, are you a negotiation expert?"

"No."

"Then are you good at persuading people?"

Gao Yuan thought for a moment and said, "There are many ways to persuade people. Which one are you referring to?"

Renato looked helpless, spread his hands, and said, "My boss is good at using guns to persuade people. I hope the kind you’re good at is not this one."

"Hmm, indeed not, I prefer hand grenades. And you, how do you persuade others?"

Renato exhaled and said, "First off, I’m a... businessman, let’s just put it that way, and my success lies in being able to empty the last penny from your pocket."

"Businessman?"

"Differently from what you think, buddy, I don’t mean to boast about anything, I just really want to make it home safely. So, I don’t hope you botch something that could be settled by talking. Do you understand what I mean? The boss of the Solar System Company paid a hefty price to borrow me from the Cicero Family to help him do business because of my abilities."

After thinking it over, Gao Yuan said, "You make sense, so I’ll trust you. You do the talking, and I’ll cooperate. How about that?"

"I need to leverage your identity, the identity of the Shenzhou People, but whatever I say, don’t expose me, just cooperate."

"Alright, what do you plan to say?"

"How could I possibly know now? I need to observe their clothing, check their physical condition, I need to first judge their living environment, understand what they want. Buddy, negotiation isn’t that simple, but the most basic principle is observation. Let me observe first, okay?"

"Alright."

Gao Yuan agreed, then he stopped talking.

Renato looked at Gao Yuan for a long while, then shook his head.

"Why are you shaking your head at me?"

"Uh, just don’t understand why you’re the team leader? To me, Mr. A seems like the real team leader. If this were a group on a military mission, or perhaps Mr. Li should be the leader if it’s a composite task force, but you..."

Renato spread his hands and said, "Unless you’re hiding some secret, of course, don’t think about hiding from me, because I wasn’t planning to probe."

The armored vehicle suddenly slowed down, and then Li Yang spoke through the intercom: "I see some figures now, let’s stop the car here."

"Okay."

After replying, Gao Yuan said to Renato, "It’s your turn to perform. I hope you’re not just bragging."

Renato shrugged his shoulders, then said calmly, "You get out first. Greet the people you see in a friendly manner, leave the rest to me."

The vehicle stopped, Gao Yuan pulled open the door, then he jumped out of the vehicle.

Looking out across the fields overgrown with wild grass, Gao Yuan took a deep breath and called out loudly, "Hello, could you come out and talk? We are from Shenzhou and mean no harm."

No sooner had Gao Yuan finished shouting than a person stood up from the grass about seventy to eighty meters away, holding a rifle but not pointing it at Gao Yuan—a good sign, a very good sign.

The person standing shouted out, and Renato whispered, "He’s asking who you people are."

Gao Yuan exclaimed, "You understand Persian too?"

"Of course, it’s quite obvious."

After speaking, Renato raised both hands and shouted something.

Gao Yuan didn’t understand a word of what Renato was shouting, but Renato looked effortlessly skilled with his hands raised, and most crucially, although he had raised both his hands, it didn’t look like he was about to surrender at all.

Li Yang came up beside Gao Yuan and whispered, "Why let him talk?"

"Well, he seems more suited for negotiating. Let’s just back him up."

The two quickly exchanged words, and then Panxin said through the intercom, "Cover group is in position, if we need to open fire first, signal with hand gestures or verbal commands, over."

"Received."

Li Yang and Gao Yuan started to move forward, while Renato positioned himself to the left of Gao Yuan, not leading nor falling behind.

The three men approached the person who had stood up, and as they got to almost face-to-face distance, four or five more people stood up from the side with a rustling sound.

All of them carried AK rifles, but their clothes were camouflage and they had epaulettes and cap badges, likely a regular army.

"Hello, we are a task force specially assembled under the framework of the Blue Star Alliance, resisting the invasion of Aliens. I am the liaison officer for the Alliance peacekeeping force."

Renato began with an introduction, then pointed at Gao Yuan and Li Yang, speaking with grave seriousness, "These two gentlemen are commanders of the Shenzhou Forces of the Blue Star Alliance Combined Forces. Based on the 4486th resolution of Blue Star Alliance, which your country also ratified, we can pass through your country unharmed. Additionally, we request that your country, as per the agreement, dispatch troops to join the Combined Forces."

As Renato spoke, Li Yang translated, and once Renato finished, so did Li Yang. Then Li Yang murmured, "Why does this spiel sound so familiar?"

"Nonsense, we’re the ones who always say that. He’s just upgraded it," Gao Yuan replied quietly and then, with a sense of longing, whispered, "We only asked for safe passage, but he’s outright requesting people to join."

The person communicating with Renato, a lieutenant, was clearly befuddled by Renato’s speech.

"What are you talking about? Where are you coming from?"

Renato stated with righteous indignation, "We’ve come from Shenzhou, passing through Afghan, where we received all of the American personnel in Afghan into the Combined Forces. Now that we are in Persia, we hope that you will join us as well since the Aliens have virtually occupied the whole world. You’ve seen how bad the situation is. Gentlemen, humanity is doomed, but we hope to make a human statement."

Renato raised his arm, spoke with fervor, a face full of tragic determination, "Whether we succeed or fail, we must fight the Aliens to the end. Gentlemen, we are prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice, but do you have the courage?"
