The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 333 - 326: Revenge
Chapter 333: Chapter 326: Revenge
Before the apocalypse, the Kandahar Air Base could also be subjected to shelling, but no one ever dared to approach the Kandahar Air Base brazenly, leisurely firing off several or even a dozen rockets before retreating composedly.
When the Kandahar Air Base was fully operational, helicopters could take off at any moment, and surveillance equipment would monitor every move within five kilometers around the clock. If someone dared attack the Kandahar Air Base, they had to be prepared for a one-way trip.
But now, things were definitely different. Even if you blocked the gates of the Kandahar Air Base and launched rockets, no one inside would dare to come out.
Even if they did come out, no one would dare to pursue.
Even if they were bold enough to pursue, they couldn’t catch up.
However, now the Kandahar Air Base had regained the power of air reconnaissance, and the armed organizations in Afghan had gradually let their guard down. Although they changed their positions every day, they no longer prepared to flee at any moment, as before.
So, Andrew saw his chance.
Whenever there’s a war, if the enemy catches onto anyone’s patterns, it’s an extremely dangerous situation.
The trap was set, just waiting for the enemy to walk into it.
Andrew appeared confident, as everything was under control.
"Sir, the enemy is coming!"
Harry Kane shouted, then he said to Andrew, "Two vehicles, about fourteen people."
Two rickety pickups, each with a Type 63 107mm rocket launcher installed in the back, and four or five people standing in the bed of each pickup.
These civilian vehicles were not equipped to withstand an Electromagnetic Pulse, but after a long time, these vehicles had gradually been repaired and were directly used in combat.
Attacking two vehicles was hardly a challenge, but for many people at the Kandahar Air Base, this bitterness still had to be resolved.
"Keep observing them, see where they stop."
After Andrew finished speaking, he waved his hand fiercely and said, "Teach them what real combat is."
Gao Yuan was sitting behind Andrew. They didn’t need to participate in the battle; they just needed to observe.
There was no interpreter by Andrew’s side, so Gao Yuan spoke without any reservations, "Do you think they can catch the enemy in one fell swoop?"
Li Yang said in a low voice, "They should be able to, the ambush is well planned."
During the conversation, the two pickups had come to a stop. People started getting off the vehicles, and someone adjusted the direction of the rocket launcher in the back of the pickups to prevent the rocket exhaust from burning the vehicle.
Andrew yelled into the radio, "Go, go, go! Take them out!"
Armored vehicles were already lying in ambush in the hollows. Upon receiving Andrew’s order, four Infantry Fighting Vehicles drove out from their hiding spots. They didn’t need to get close to the enemy; they just had to open fire from a kilometer away.
Four M2 Bradley Fighting Vehicles emerged, and the enemy didn’t even notice. When the 25mm autocannon on the first armored vehicle fired, the tracer incendiary rounds accurately struck one of the pickups.
Using America’s best Infantry Fighting Vehicles to attack an unguarded pickup was not at all challenging. The fire control system on the armored vehicles could precisely control the shells to hit a basketball a kilometer away. If they missed hitting a stationary pickup, it would have been utter incompetence.
Just a few rounds of gunfire and the first pickup started to burn, quickly engulfing in flames.
Furthermore, both pickup trucks were hit almost simultaneously, no more than a second apart, and both began to burn fiercely, with people nearby starting to scatter in all directions.
Andrew slammed his hand down fiercely and roared, "Yes! That’s it! Take them down!"
The armored vehicles began to close in on the fleeing enemy. After getting a bit closer, the armored vehicles stopped, and then the machine guns started firing at the scattering people in succession.
It was too easy. On flat terrain, firing at fleeing people, it didn’t take long before there wasn’t a single person standing around the pickups.
The fight wasn’t over yet because some had hit the deck, not using their rifles to shoot, but from their movements, it was clear that the initial barrage hadn’t taken out all the enemies.
"One, two, three... there are seven people left! Sir!"
Andrew picked up the walkie-talkie and said calmly, "This is like hunting turkeys. Go on, crush them!"
The four armored vehicles started moving towards the enemies lying on the ground, too afraid to move.
No one could escape. This was going to be a slaughter, not a fight, for these enemies didn’t even have an RPG. Without the ability to retaliate against the armored vehicles, their fate was sealed.
Gao Yuan looked over at Ashraf, curious to see his reaction as he watched people from his own country being killed.
Ashraf was still smiling, sitting in a chair, cradling his rifle like a country elder amazed by the images transmitted back by a drone.
Both from the same country, but not from the same camp, Ashraf certainly felt no sentimentality for the scene before him.
Gao Yuan turned away, and by that time, the battle had ended.
The entire operation took less than three minutes, a dozen men in two vehicles had been wiped out. Andrew stood up, took a deep breath, and said, "This was perfect vengeance."
Having said that, Andrew couldn’t help but glance at Ashraf.
In fact, Andrew was quite displeased with Gao Yuan for inviting Ashraf to join, not extremely, but certainly very uncomfortable, as at least ten of the forty-plus people killed at Kandahar Air Base had been at the hands of Ashraf, who looked like an old farmer.
But knowing was one thing; revenge was another, entirely out of the question.
Being flexible has always been an American virtue. They are not the type to be stubbornly headstrong. In fact, Americans are quite adaptable.
Knowing when to stop was also a good habit for Andrew.
"We’re done here. Let’s begin the withdrawal and let their people take over."
After speaking with a tone that seemed calm but rather reluctant, Andrew waved his hand and said, "Move out!"
The wheeled armored vehicles began to leave through the base’s gates, and Li Yang said to Ashraf, "Your people can come in now. To avoid any misunderstandings, better let them all withdraw before you enter. We’ll cover the rear."
Ashraf nodded and replied, "Alright."
With the wheeled armored vehicles leading, followed by civilian vehicles—pickups, SUVs, and military trucks—the convoy, loaded with supplies and fuel, moved out. Finally, a dozen more wheeled armored vehicles brought up the rear.
Andrew left with the convoy, unwilling to see the jubilant reaction of Atiq’s men entering the base, but Gao Yuan and the others had to stay until the end.
