The Ultimate War Of The Apocalypse -
Chapter 305 - 298: Exchange
Chapter 305: Chapter 298: Exchange
Gao Yuan and his team actually had drones, ultra-small, battery-powered reconnaissance drones, and quite a few of them at that—six in total. These devices were easily folded and stored without taking up much space and could be particularly useful at times.
But no one was specialized in operating these drones. The use of these drones meant that there would definitely be radio signals, which, unless absolutely necessary, Gao Yuan and his team would not deploy for reconnaissance as it could certainly attract the attention of the Serpent People.
"Exchange? You want to trade?"
Harry once again grabbed Gao Yuan’s shoulder, then said seriously, "Listen to me, listen to me, brother, I operate large drones, I’m a drone pilot, but I don’t have a drone now. The radar station and flight control center were completely destroyed by the Electromagnetic Pulse. Some things can be fixed, but not these. Our large drones, even if they’re intact on the ground, can’t take off."
After finishing his rapid speech, Harry urgently said, "We only have two ultra-small drones that can be used by the American base’s defense forces here, the kind used by infantry and special forces, but they won’t give them to me or trade with me. But it’s different with you guys, you’re outsiders, you must have something urgent, and maybe I have what you need, right? So, we can trade, anything will do, you say."
Seeing Gao Yuan still hesitant, Harry yanked his rifle around and said to Gao Yuan, "Weapons, how about weapons?"
Gao Yuan looked at Harry, then at his rifle, and said, "Buddy, we’re not short on weapons."
Harry slung the gun back and his right hand rapidly tapped his mouth as he said, "What else, what else... um, what do you need?"
Gao Yuan’s gaze moved past Harry, looking toward the row of armored vehicles parked near the living area.
Harry turned his head, following Gao Yuan’s gaze to the armored vehicles, and then said with a gloomy face, "Oh, that won’t work, that needs... wait, those are ours! Those are our armored vehicles, maybe I can convince Cahill, yes, I can persuade him. So, one drone for one armored vehicle, how about that?"
Gao Yuan looked at Harry in surprise again, and Harry hurriedly said, "No good?"
Gao Yuan felt his facial expression twist into a grimace but still said softly, "I think, maybe your base commander would agree to give us a few armored vehicles, after all, our mission is about the fate of all humanity, so... brother, I think you’re not suited for business."
What Gao Yuan meant was that you’re not suited for business; I might as well just give you a drone.
Trading a drone for an armored vehicle seemed like a profitable deal, but if it actually happened, the nature of it would change, right? So, Gao Yuan would rather give Harry a drone and then perhaps swindle a few armored vehicles from Andrew.
But Harry seemed to have gone mad, he turned and ran, and as he ran, he said, "Wait for me, wait a moment!"
Gao Yuan stretched out his hand, shouting loudly, "Hey, hey, don’t go, what are you running for..."
Since they were all living in the residential area, it wouldn’t take long for Harry to call for someone; he just ran over and shouted twice, and Cahill came out.
Cahill looked at Gao Yuan, then whispered something to Harry, and the two of them came over together.
Gao Yuan walked toward Cahill, and Cahill walked toward Gao Yuan; they met in the middle soon after, and then Cahill got straight to the point, "You have drones?"
"Yes."
"Can you support us?"
Cahill was much craftier than Harry; he didn’t even think about trading but directly asked for them, and as the deputy commander of the base, his request was different from Harry’s personal behavior.
Gao Yuan pinched his chin, muttering softly, "Well, if you really need them, it’s not impossible, but do you really need the drones?"
Cahill nodded repeatedly, "Yes, we are being shelled every day, and it’s hard to retaliate because the enemy fires and then runs. But if we have drones to monitor the enemy’s locations, we can attack them before they complete their firing sequence, so we really need drones."
"Uh, don’t the Americans have them?"
Cahill shook his head and waved his hand, "No good, theirs are micro drones, used for special combat operations, too small, too short a flight time, and they can’t fly far enough. Our enemy’s artillery fires from at least three kilometers away, useless."
After speaking, Cahill said, "How many drones do you have? What model? What reconnaissance equipment do they carry? How long can they fly, and what’s the maximum control distance? Most importantly, how big are they, and can they take off without being destroyed by the aliens?"
Gao Yuan squeezed his hand, saying, "We have three drones, I’m not clear about the specific data, but they can fly for six hours, and the furthest control distance is probably five kilometers, I guess."
Cahill’s eyes lit up, "They’re engine-driven drones, not electrically powered, right?"
"No, no, just electric drones, not fuel-burning drones."
Cahill immediately frowned, "Oh, that’s not possible, you must be mistaken, no electric drone has ever flown for six hours."
Gao Yuan wasn’t sure if he remembered correctly, but he knew that when he set out, he brought the most advanced drones available.
After thinking carefully, Gao Yuan said, "No, it’s right, six hours for sure, I’m certain."
Cahill looked at Gao Yuan for a long time, then said, "We didn’t touch your truck or the things on it. Can I see your drone? Harry said you intended to trade the drone for an armored vehicle. If that’s the case, I don’t see a problem, as I’m the highest commander of England, I have the authority to dispose of England’s military assets."
Gao Yuan wasn’t ready to trade, nor was he willing to anymore, as it seemed the drone was quite valuable. So, he chuckled and said, "What are you talking about, trading for what, no, no, no, I never said trade, because the drones are also very important to us, uh, but if you need it, I could ask our equipment officer, yes, the person in charge of equipment, I might be able to give you one."
Cahill furrowed his brow, and Gao Yuan said with a smile, "Let’s have a proper talk, I’ll call our equipment officer."
Simply asking for things does not strengthen one’s stance, but a trade, that’s a different story, that’s when one can feel justifiably content. And frankly, Gao Yuan was very, very tempted by those wheeled armored vehicles, but whether they could trade them or not would have to be decided by Panxin and the others; because Gao Yuan really couldn’t determine the value of those drones. For all he knew, he might think he got a bargain from the trade but could actually be at a loss.
