Chapter 304: Chapter 297 Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

At the airport, all one could see were the hangars and the planes parked by the runway.

Wrecked at the very end of the airport road, near the end closest to Gao Yuan and his group, was a C130 transport plane—unique because only the intact rear half remained.

As though sliced by a cutting machine, the front half of the plane had completely disappeared, yet the rear half lay eerily intact at the end of the runway.

Gao Yuan, pulling Xinghe along, stood there watching for a while, then turned to her and said, "This was the Serpent People’s doing."

"Yes."

Xinghe looked calm, her eyes brimming with wisdom.

Gao Yuan looked up into Xinghe’s eyes and suddenly said, "You never told me that you know many languages."

Xinghe smiled faintly and replied, "You never asked me. Actually, learning a language is really simple for us because computers assist us with memory. Once I master one language, learning similar languages becomes very easy. As for vocabulary, I told you, it’s assisted memory stored in my brain."

Gao Yuan let out a sigh and said, "So... can you help me learn too?"

Gao Yuan then put his palms together in front of Xinghe, his face full of pleading, "Please, help me out. English is so difficult to learn, let alone the many other languages. It would be so great if I could speak anything like you. You must have a way, right?"

Xinghe seemed a bit disappointed and frowned, "You pulled me aside just to talk about this?"

"Yeah, I was worried you had some little secret and it wouldn’t be convenient, that’s why I spoke to you alone. If you have a way, it would be even better if you could turn us all into language geniuses, right?"

Xinghe suddenly seemed somewhat angry and said, "No way!"

"Really?"

"Even if there was a way, I wouldn’t tell you!"

"So do you have a way or not?"

"No way."

It seemed Xinghe was truly a bit angry, and it was at this moment that a person wearing a pink T-shirt with a very long face shouted while waving, "Hey, hello there."

Gao Yuan glanced over and recognized Harry Kane instantly because of that unmistakable Manchester City shorts; he identified him at first sight.

"Hello, Harry."

Gao Yuan stuttered in English, and then an excited Harry Kane ran over. He waved to Xinghe and said, "Hello."

Xinghe stared at Harry, his gaze fixed and unyielding. At first, Harry was excited, but he quickly shrank back under Xinghe’s deadly stare.

Taking a step back, Harry looked down at himself from head to toe, and then he took another step back and stammered to Xinghe, "Is there something wrong with me? Is it my clothes? Or what?"

Xinghe continued to stare at Harry and said in very fluent English, "I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you’re saying."

This was somewhat awkward. Harry glanced at Xinghe and then, suddenly bypassing him, slapped Gao Yuan on the arm and excitedly said, "Hey, man, can I ask you something?"

Unfortunately, Gao Yuan didn’t understand, so he looked towards Xinghe, who turned his head to the side and said, "He wants to ask you something."

Gao Yuan nodded at Harry, who cautiously said, "Now, can any airplanes take off elsewhere? Can your Shenzhou planes take off?"

Xinghe translated, and then Gao Yuan shook his head and said, "No."

Harry let out a sigh of relief, and then he clasped his hands together, whispering, "Then, is there anything that can fly?"

Gao Yuan nodded and said, "Drones, small unmanned drones. We’ve used drones to survey over the city, but larger aircraft are absolutely impossible to take off. As soon as they do, they’ll be destroyed by the aliens."

Harry got excited, grabbed Gao Yuan’s arm, and asked with a trembling voice, "Drones can fly? Drones can fly! So, how large, what’s the limit?"

Gao Yuan looked up, no terrifying large spaceship or small ones flying around in the sky, and then continued, "But we have a super massive alien mothership over there, but not here. So planes here can’t take off either?"

"Not at all, absolutely not. Once a plane takes off, a spaceship will soon come flying. Our radar shows that the alien ships can fire a microwave from a distance of six thousand meters that pulverizes everything, so no plane here can take off."

Harry rattled this off in a hurry and then, tilting his head in thought, said, "Small unmanned drones, I know where some are, but how small do they need to be... "

Just then, a thunderous explosion startled Gao Yuan; after instinctively ducking, he grabbed Xinghe, ready to run.

Xinghe, whose hand was gripped by Gao Yuan, finally looked a bit better, while Harry said, "Don’t be scared, that’s Blackbeard’s mortar fire. They missed, it’s far from here, at least fifteen hundred meters away. They’re going to fire six to eight rounds, but they’re just shooting blindly, no need to worry unless you’re particularly unlucky."

Xinghe translated Harry’s words cheerfully, and after waiting for the translation to finish, Harry continued, "If it’s rockets fired by Whitebeard, then you should be worried because they often manage to hit this area. So, in the afternoon, if you hear explosions, you’d better head to the nearest shelter, but it’s still morning now, so no need to worry."

Gao Yuan became interested and laughed, "You seem to know the people outside well."

Harry smiled and pointed at himself, saying, "What kind of soldier do you think I am? Let me tell you, I’m a drone pilot, a reconnaissance drone pilot. I’m very familiar with the terrain around here; I even know each gang of terrorists by their characteristics, having observed them up close with my drone."

"I thought you were a machine gunner. Uh, Harry, if you know who the enemies outside are and where they are, then why haven’t they been wiped out by now?"

Harry pouted, shrugged his shoulders with a look of helplessness, and said, "You know, the people outside, you don’t know who’s a terrorist. Actually, in my opinion, they all are, but you can’t just bomb them willy-nilly before they shoot at you, so it’s complicated. But I know Whitebeard and his crew are troublemakers. We lost sixteen men last time because of Whitebeard’s actions. Although Blackbeard has more men, his threat isn’t as big. But Whitebeard is different; he’s tough. Out of the forty-five of us who died in combat, forty-two were his doing."

After saying this, Harry once again laughed and patted Gao Yuan on the shoulder, "Believe me, no one in this base knows them better than I do. Besides, do you have drones? Those small ones, the kind that can take off without being destroyed, do you have any? We can trade, really, we can!"
