Chapter 272: Chapter 266: Divine Weapon

"Shenzhou people, I am a Shenzhou person, I am a Shenzhou person..."

Gao Yuan switched between several languages, repeatedly saying the term Shenzhou people in all the languages that Pakistani should understand.

This was a semi-permanent fortification, surrounded by sandbags with a top made of wooden planks and concrete blocks, so the bunker’s defensive capability was not that strong, and there were only three people inside.

After all, it wasn’t a major position, so both the defensive fortifications and manpower were somewhat weaker.

And Gao Yuan’s arrival had completely dumbfounded all three people in the bunker.

The person at the front didn’t hesitate to open fire, one manning a machine gun had no way to point it directly at Gao Yuan and stepped back, while another holding a rifle had Gao Yuan grab and raise both barrels upwards before the Pakistani manning the machine gun finally pointed at Gao Yuan and shouted out loud.

"Shenzhou person..."

Gao Yuan only understood the word Shenzhou person, so he pulled forcefully, taking both guns into his hands, and immediately placed them on the ground. Then he pointed at his chest and said loudly, "Yes, a Shenzhou person."

Gao Yuan pulled out a Velcro patch from his pocket, which was a Shenzhou National Flag patch. He took it out and waved it in front of the three men, shouting, "Shenzhou person, do you understand? Do you understand?"

The bearded man who fired first suddenly let out a loud cry and then he lunged at Gao Yuan, throwing his arms around him. While Gao Yuan hesitated whether to kick away the bearded man, he shouted out, "brothers..."

Gao Yuan understood the word brothers, so he let the bearded man embrace him.

The bearded man jumped and shouted while holding Gao Yuan. Gao Yuan broke free from his embrace and pointed urgently, exclaiming, "Your leader, goddamn, superior, how should I say this... sir, sir!"

Gao Yuan had passed the Level Four English test, but he had long since forgotten all the English he had learned, so now he could only bounce around the words while making gestures.

Fortunately, he knew what to do next. The bearded man turned his head and called out a few times, then he picked up his rifle from the ground and gestured to Gao Yuan to follow him.

So he followed them.

The bearded man took the lead and ran ahead, with Gao Yuan following behind, and as the bearded man ran, he kept shouting. As he shouted, many soldiers holding guns started to cheer.

There were shaking flashlights and lights suddenly turned on. Now, Gao Yuan could see he was walking across a line of forward positions, but just another hundred or so meters ahead lay a city.

The signs of artillery fire were everywhere because the Indian artillery brought in was not just for show; it would be strange if they hadn’t shelled Gilgit.

A cleanly shaven military officer came up to meet him. After listening to the excited bearded man’s gesticulations and explanations while pointing at Gao Yuan, the soldiers gathered around cheered first, and then the officer became even more excited and immediately started shouting into the walkie-talkie he held in his hand.

"Brothers!"

Many people were patting Gao Yuan, some giving him thumbs up, and many others were cheering hoarsely, so increasingly more people started peering out from their positions.

When support finally arrived after being besieged and trapped for so long, the Pakistani soldiers were already incredibly restrained.

The officer grabbed Gao Yuan’s hand, shouted a few words, and then started running with Gao Yuan in tow.

They finally formally entered the city of Gilgit. It was four in the morning, but nobody could sleep now; the continuous sounds of explosions and gunshots had everyone on edge.

Yet Gao Yuan’s arrival brought renewed enthusiasm to everyone. Many times, people shone their flashlights on Gao Yuan, even rudely on his face, but with each sighting of Gao Yuan’s face, the cheering spread further and further.

The cheers surrounding Gao Yuan even began to drown out the sound of gunfire; amidst the explosion noises, crisp or dull, the cheers rapidly spread in all directions.

The officer leading Gao Yuan kept shouting loudly as they ran.

A soldier suddenly appeared in front of Gao Yuan and stopped him, then grabbed him with the one hand he had left. His face was extremely haggard with many scars, and the lack of a nose made him look somewhat frightening.

The noseless, one-armed Pakistani grabbed Gao Yuan’s hand and began to cry.

The officer pushed the disabled soldier aside and continued to pull Gao Yuan forward, while the disabled soldier followed, crying as he ran.

Shouts were incessant, but sadly Gao Yuan couldn’t understand them; however, he knew his arrival had everyone extremely excited.

This was normal, as once again, Gao Yuan became the bearer of hope.

The sheer number of people in Gilgit had also surpassed Gao Yuan’s expectations. Each house, every residential building, and the makeshift positions on the rooftops were all filled with people standing out.

In the darkness of enforced blackout, it was difficult to say how many could see Gao Yuan, but he had night vision goggles and could clearly see every person.

When someone occasionally spoke English, Gao Yuan could get the gist of it.

"The Shenzhou people have come! Our brothers are supporting us!" an officer hysterically yelled, then perhaps overcome with excitement, he pointed his rifle towards the sky and squeezed the trigger.

Just then, amidst the chaotic celebration, several dozen people came facing me, all wielding flashlights, their beams of light dancing towards Gao Yuan.

Both groups of people converged, and the one leading the newcomers, upon seeing Gao Yuan, immediately let out a loud shout, then quickly surrounded Gao Yuan and escorted him forward.

Gao Yuan was baffled, mainly because of the language barrier, but not long after running with them, he finally arrived in front of a building that had clearly been fortified.

Lifting a heavy curtain, inside was a faint light and steps leading downward. The person in front, elated, was saying something, but unfortunately, Gao Yuan couldn’t understand.

Gao Yuan quickly lifted his night-vision goggles since there was light.

There were two bends in the staircase going down, and after lifting another curtain, the bright light made Gao Yuan squint his eyes.

There were about a dozen people inside. The basement wasn’t big, and with a dozen people crammed inside, the twenty-square-meter space felt very crowded. Moreover, there were two tables pushed together with a map spread on top.

A middle-aged man with a suit, stubble on his face that hadn’t been cleanly shaved, approached Gao Yuan with an extended hand.

Their hands clasped, the middle-aged man jabbered a long string of words that Gao Yuan couldn’t understand a word of. But at that moment, a colonel stammered, "We, Prime Minister, welcome the arrival of our Shenzhou brothers."

The middle-aged man jabbered another string of words, and the officer opened his mouth, saying, "He asks how you got here? Where are the others?"

Just then, hurried footsteps sounded on the stairs, and the curtain was lifted again as two people dashed in. Gao Yuan turned his head and saw two familiar, warm Shenzhou faces.

Two middle-aged Shenzhou men, and when their six eyes met, both sides were stunned.

The leading Shenzhou man grabbed Gao Yuan’s hand, and before he could speak, tears fell as he trembled, "Real reinforcements have come! Really, people have arrived!"

Gao Yuan exhaled and asked urgently, "Who are you?"

"I’m the Ambassador to Pakistan! He’s our Military Officer. Who are you? Has our military really arrived?"

Gao Yuan first nodded, then shook his head, before saying urgently, "Quick! Tell them! We came from the east and completely disrupted the enemy’s defenses. Launch an attack now!"

The Ambassador hesitated, then said with extreme surprise, "Really... they’ve come! How many of us are there?"

Gao Yuan hesitated, then said in a low voice, "Three."

"Three corps? Impossible, that’s too many. Three divisions? Three brigades? Three... regiments?"

Gao Yuan shook his head continuously, with each shake the Ambassador lowered his expectations until finally, Gao Yuan whispered, "Three people."

"What?"

Gao Yuan said urgently, "Don’t worry about how many people came. We’ve completely broken the enemy, thrown them into disorder. We’ve taken out their command center and scattered their formation. The enemy may look fierce now because they’re in disarray. We mustn’t give them a chance to regroup. Launch a counterattack now!"

Behind the Ambassador, the Military Officer began speaking hurriedly to the Pakistanis, and then the Ambassador said to Gao Yuan urgently, "Are you sure?"

"I’m here, aren’t I? Hurry up! Just dispatch someone to accept their surrender. But if you wait for the enemy to regroup, to regain their composure, the cost will be much greater!"

The Military Officer spoke again urgently, and then a Pakistani general also spoke quickly before giving a forceful wave of his hand.

Gao Yuan said urgently, "Our people are still behind, don’t cause friendly fire. I’ll go with their vanguard."

The Ambassador nodded and said, "Good! We will follow you. The language barrier could cause friendly fire."

"You too?"

The Military Officer looked at Gao Yuan and said, "I will go. I’ll serve as your interpreter. Anything you need to convey, we’ll talk about it on the way. Let’s hurry. We must strike while the enemy is still disorganized."

Gao Yuan liked this kind of decisiveness and immediately said, "Then let’s hurry."

A general ran out quickly, with others urgently speaking to those around them. The Shenzhou Military Officer said to Gao Yuan quickly, "My name is Chen Wei, Military Officer stationed in Pakistan. Tell me whatever you need."

After thinking, Gao Yuan said, "Attack! Attack now! The enemy is completely in chaos, the attack must be resolute. Once we break their offensive, they’ll have no choice but to surrender!"

Chen Wei quickly translated Gao Yuan’s words, then spoke to Gao Yuan rapidly, "All our tanks on the eastern front will immediately countercharge, and all reserve forces will press forward!"

Gao Yuan nodded repeatedly, and then said urgently into the radio, "This is Nemesis, respond if you hear me."

There was no reply, and Gao Yuan turned and ran out of the command center, dashing back to the surface, where he said urgently into the radio, "This is Nemesis, respond if you hear me."

"Mr. Jian received, over."

Gao Yuan exhaled and said, "I’ve made contact with our allies, the counteroffensive is about to begin. Be careful to avoid friendly fire, over."
