Chapter 250: Chapter 245: One Sword Once Stood Against a Million Warriors

Gao Yuan got out of the vehicle, feeling somewhat lost because he didn’t know whether he should just grab Xinghe and run away without looking back.

There were many things that were easy to say, but very difficult to do in practice.

Yu Shunzhou jumped down from the truck with a gun in hand, and when he waved his hand and yelled, Gao Yuan went temporarily deaf for a brief moment.

The whole world went silent, no sounds, no images.

"Take it! Run!"

Li Yang put the Revelation in Gao Yuan’s hand, then he pushed Gao Yuan.

"Run!"

The still images started moving again, and his hearing returned, Yu Shunzhou was almost face-to-face with Gao Yuan as he pushed him again and yelled, "You idiot, run!"

In this world, Gao Yuan only allowed one person to call him an idiot.

Gao Yuan handed the Revelation to Xinghe, then he pulled out a knife from behind.

On this lengthy journey, danger was omnipresent, and to expect smooth sailing was nothing but a fool’s dream.

There were no zombies, no beetles, no aliens, but all of these would be arriving soon.

Spark Squad was too small, so small that it couldn’t withstand any major storm.

Could it be that this time, they were all going to be annihilated?

Actually, the surroundings were very quiet, no fighting, no gunshots, eerily silent.

Gao Yuan took Xinghe by the hand and finally started running.

Gao Yuan began to run when Zhao Qiang turned to Liu Deguang and asked, "Can you fix it?"

"I can! Everyone, get inside the car, the beetles can’t break the glass!"

Running away on foot was not a wise choice, for no one could outrun the beetles, but if Liu Deguang could fix the car in a short time, then Zhao Qiang and the others could continue to flee in the vehicle.

Yet, in the brief time it took to exchange these few sentences, the beetles had already arrived.

The beetles were not small, and could actually be seen from quite a distance when flying.

Apart from Gao Yuan, no one could outrun the flying speed of the beetles.

Zhao Qiang sighed, then he said loudly, "Let’s try this, Deguang, you fix the car, Chunxiao, you cover him, hold out as long as we can..."

If Gao Yuan were to run at full speed, he could make it out of Dushanbe, the city, even while carrying Xinghe, he still had enough speed to escape.

But after just a few steps, and without even picking up his speed, Gao Yuan slowed down and stopped, still holding onto Xinghe.

"They all don’t know my true strength, but you should be aware of it, right?"

When Gao Yuan spoke to Xinghe, his voice was gentle, because he had to protect the three absolutely essential things, Xinghe, the Revelation, and himself.

But Gao Yuan didn’t want to leave.

"I want to try," he said.

Xinghe smiled at Gao Yuan, then she said softly, "Go let them see what you can do."

Xinghe looked down at Gao Yuan, smiling as she let go of his hand.

Gao Yuan turned around, and then he ran towards Zhao Qiang and the others.

"What the hell are you doing!"

Zhao Qiang roared in anger and despair, willing to sacrifice himself and everyone else’s lives to protect Xinghe, but even sacrificing himself wouldn’t be enough.

When sacrifice became utterly meaningless, Zhao Qiang was filled with despair and powerlessness, but he knew that Gao Yuan could take Xinghe away, which at least gave him some comfort.

Yet Gao Yuan ran back, plunging Zhao Qiang, who was already feeling helpless, into genuine despair.

Just when Zhao Qiang yelled out, Liu Chunxiao stepped forward, and flames shot out of the Flamethrower he held.

A massive ball of fire, the scorching flames turned a swarm of beetles flying their way into ash in the air.

But the Flamethrower’s range was limited, and there were many beetles, most importantly the swarm was wide, Liu Chunxiao couldn’t burn all of the beetles to death at once.

Beetles that escaped the fire flew towards Liu Chunxiao, because he was at the forefront.

Obviously, if Liu Chunxiao couldn’t spew out another ball of fire to cover all the space around him, he would be bitten by the beetles.

Liu Chunxiao saw a beetle rapidly growing in front of him through the corner of his eye, then, a flash of white light and a chill on the forehead.

A strand of hair slowly fell in front of Liu Chunxiao’s eyes, while the beetle that was about to bite him disappeared without a trace.

Gao Yuan stood in front of Liu Chunxiao.

Twirling the long knife in his hand, Gao Yuan said calmly, "Chun Er, get ready to breathe fire, Liu Deguang, fix the vehicle, everyone else, get back in the car."

Zhao Qiang bellowed, "Get the hell out of the way! Why aren’t you leaving!"

Gao Yuan didn’t look back, because he needed to keep an eye on the flying insects in front of him.

"Boss Zhao, do you really know me?"

No sound, just the light of the blade. Gao Yuan’s speaking didn’t affect the flashing of his knife in the air at all.

Boss Zhao froze, because with each gleam of Gao Yuan’s knife, those beetles that had luckily survived outside the range of the flames dropped to the ground one by one.

Li Yang pushed Xinghe into the car, then followed and immediately closed the door behind him.

Gao Yuan didn’t look back. He suddenly leaped to the side, his long blade flicking, impaling a beetle that remained suspended on the tip.

"What truly surpasses human limits isn’t strength, but speed."

Gao Yuan turned around in one step, a small arc with his long blade sliced two insects in half with precise accuracy as they fell backward.

"Especially reaction speed."

There was too much ground to cover, so Gao Yuan had to increase his moving speed, covering more distance.

"If I want, I can make all living creatures play back in slow motion."

Liu Chunxiao let out a burst of flame, turning a swarm of beetles mostly to ash, leaving only scattered ones for Gao Yuan to deal with easily, very easily.

"So why don’t you all get into the car..."

Gao Yuan continued to zip and slash, cleaving each insect with precision, then he shouted loudly, "to save me a bit of effort?"

Zhao Qiang was completely dumbfounded; he didn’t understand what was happening. The others weren’t much better because, in a crisis that seemed life-threatening, when everyone thought they were on the verge of death, someone stepped out casually, claiming it wasn’t a problem at all, their brains needed a moment to comprehend what was going on.

Lizhizi pointed at Gao Yuan, stuttering, "This is... this is..."

Gao Yuan wasn’t simply relying on speed and reflexes to kill airborne insects; he was using a technique. Sword techniques have a system that allows him to maximize his physical ability and speed.

No, the technique Gao Yuan used could push him beyond the limits of his own physical ability and speed.

Gao Yuan turned around; his long blade circled overhead, then sliced down at an angle.

Coming out of his brief daze, Zhao Qiang finally yelled loudly, "Get in the car!"

Lizhizi didn’t move. He kept pointing at Gao Yuan, shouting, "This is... this is..."

"It’s your sister!"

Cao Zhenjiang smacked Lizhizi’s outstretched arm down and grabbed him by the neck, hustling him toward the truck.

"Can’t you stop causing trouble and get on?"

Lizhizi ignored Cao Zhenjiang, then suddenly shouted loudly, "This is Tai Chi Sword!"

Cao Zhenjiang barked, "On the car!"

Everyone was hastily jumping onto the car. Lizhizi suddenly took a light hop and neatly jumped onto the truck. Then, pointing at Gao Yuan, he bellowed, "That’s the authentic Tai Chi Sword Technique!"

"Shut your mouth!"

Cao Zhenjiang let down the truck’s canvas cover, then bellowed, "Tape! Quick, tape it without leaving any gaps!"

Now that nothing could be seen, Lizhizi spoke despondently, "Like Hou Yi shooting down the nine suns, majestic as imperial dragons soaring high. With the rage of thunder and lightning contained, calm as the ocean and sky’s clear light... "

This time, Cao Zhenjiang didn’t scold Lizhizi, as he seemed somewhat out of his mind.

"What are you mumbling about? Can’t you speak like a normal person?"

Lizhizi looked like a madman, and Cao Zhenjiang didn’t dare rebuke him. Instead, he turned to Yu Shunzhou and the others, speaking in a low voice, "What is he saying?"

"Ah!"

Lizhizi suddenly shouted loudly, causing Cao Zhenjiang to jump, then he angrily said, "What are you crazy about now? Shut the hell up..."

Cao Zhenjiang went to cover Lizhizi’s mouth, but Lizhizi’s right hand shot out like lightning and grabbed Cao Zhenjiang’s wrist.

"In battle, I traverse three thousand miles, with one sword once commanded a million troops..."

Tears streaming down his face, Lizhizi, holding Cao Zhenjiang’s wrist, sobbed, "It’s all real, it’s all true!"

"What are you crying for, let go of my hand, holy shit you’re strong, let go of me, have you gone mad?"

Lizhizi released Cao Zhenjiang’s hand, then turned to face the lowered curtain, sniffled, and said with longing, "This is swordsmanship, you don’t understand, you know nothing at all!"

Lizhizi reached for the curtain that had been let down, but Yu Shunzhou, who was taping up the seams, quickly said, "What are you doing? Taoist Priest, don’t be impulsive."

With a trembling voice, Lizhizi said, "I’m telling you, if you don’t watch this now, you might never get another chance. This is swordsmanship, this is how swordsmanship should be. If you don’t watch, you might really miss out."

Yu Shunzhou sure didn’t want to risk watching some sword display and letting beetles get in.

Wiping away tears, Lizhizi continued in a shaky voice, "With him here, the beetles can’t get through. If he can’t stop them, we’re dead anyway, so don’t you want to see it? Witness this once-in-a-millennium peerless sword dance, don’t you?"

Yu Shunzhou whispered, "But he’s clearly using a blade..."

Yu Shunzhou lifted the curtain.

Gao Yuan was still there, guarding in front of Liu Chunxiao and Liu Deguang.

The beetles always attacked in swarms, targeting people they saw or otherwise detected, so no matter the size of the swarm, they would ultimately fly towards the three men left outside the car.

Yu Shunzhou whispered, "Holy shit..."

Cao Zhenjiang looked outside and whispered, "Holy shit!"

Nie Erlong sighed, "Ah, holy shit!"

Lizhizi let out a long sigh and said quietly, "Graceful as a dragon, swift as a startled swan. When the sword dances, it affects all around, leaving onlookers as somber as a mountain... This is the sword! Watch closely now, this is swordsmanship!"

Cao Zhenjiang, still unconvinced, said, "But he’s clearly using a blade! A blade!"
