The Tycoon's Mysterious Darling Wife -
Chapter 441 - 443. Save people
Chapter 441: 443. Save people
Shen Qian and Old Sir Shen had talked in the study for a long time, and no one knew what they had discussed. By the time Shen Qian came out of the study, two hours had passed. He was holding a document and hurried downstairs.
Chu Yunrong had just returned home with Anan and almost bumped into Shen Qian, but fortunately, Shen Qian reached out to steady her.
"Aqian, what are you rushing off to do?"
"There’s an emergency in the military, I must leave now. Anan is weaning these days, so her mood will definitely be unstable; try not to go out if it’s not necessary and spend more time at home with Anan."
Chu Yunrong hadn’t planned to go out anyway. Ever since she had mysteriously met that woman last time, she was reluctant to go out, especially knowing that the enemy in the shadows hadn’t been dealt with and could use her to threaten Shen Qinglan or Shen Qian at any time. She had even declined invitations from close friends.
Su Qing didn’t head directly to Beijing but first went to R country, where Yamamoto was waiting for her, "Mr. Yamamoto, what urgent matter made you summon me?"
Yamamoto’s face was serious, "I just received a message from Qin Yan saying that the daughter of the Shen Family in Beijing is the nemesis I’ve been searching for years, assassin Mei. What do you think about this?"
Su Qing was taken aback, but no trace of it showed on her face. It was as if she had heard the funniest joke, and she burst into hearty laughter, "Mr. Yamamoto, you tell me such a funny joke as soon as I arrive. Do you think my life is too miserable?"
Yamamoto remained grave, frowning, "I’m not joking with you; I’m serious. Do you think it’s true or not?"
"Hahaha, Mr. Yamamoto, I’m truly sorry, but this joke is just too funny." Su Qing laughed so hard she shook, and by the time she stopped, Yamamoto’s expression had darkened. Su Qing then composed herself.
"Mr. Yamamoto, since you asked me like this, it means you also have doubts about this matter."
"I indeed find it hard to believe. After hearing about this person from Qin Yan, I went to inquire further."
"And the result shocked you?"
"Indeed. I know Shen Qinglan too well; she’s the painter Leng Qingqiu, a young artist who has risen quickly on the international stage recently. Her maternal family is the Beijing Shen Family, and her husband is from the Beijing Fu Family. You must know what kind of families the Shen and Fu Families are. Do you think such a person could be Mei?"
Yamamoto knew about these circumstances, but...
"Qin Yan said that Shen Qinglan didn’t grow up in the Shen Family, she was missing for eleven years."
"So, Mr. Yamamoto, do you think a teenager could become the world’s number one assassin, Mei?" There was a hint of sarcasm in Su Qing’s tone.
Yamamoto was stunned. Yes, he had overlooked Shen Qinglan’s age. According to the emergence of assassin Mei, Shen Qinglan would have been only eleven or twelve years old. To believe that a child of that age was the world’s most feared assassin seemed ridiculous.
Yamamoto’s face darkened, "What is Qin Yan’s purpose in doing this? How could she be sure I would believe such a blatant lie?"
Su Qing took a sip of tea and spoke leisurely, "Mr. Yamamoto, sometimes it’s such lies that people tend to believe, catching them off guard. Didn’t you almost believe it at first?"
Yamamoto nodded; indeed, his initial reaction was disbelief. After calming down, he became suspicious. It wasn’t to say that just because Shen Qinglan was the daughter of the Shen Family, she couldn’t be an assassin, after all, no one had ever seen the real face of Mei.
Reminded by Su Qing, Yamamoto realized that at that time, Shen Qinglan was too young, not that there weren’t young assassins in the underworld, but reaching such heights at that age was highly unlikely.
Thinking it over, Yamamoto was sure that Qin Yan was deceiving him, "But why would she lie to me?"
"As far as I know, Qin Yan has a grudge against the Shen Family. I’m not sure about the specifics, but her intention to target the Shen Family is genuine," Su Qing said with a slight smile.
That made sense, and Yamamoto nodded in understanding, "Thanks to your reminder this time, or I might have been tricked."
Su Qing smiled, "Mr. Yamamoto, you think too highly of me. Even if I hadn’t reminded you, you wouldn’t have made such an impulsive decision." In fact, although Yamamoto was the leader of the Yamaguchi Group, he was quite impulsive in his actions. It was a miracle he had managed to maintain his position all these years.
Having dispelled Yamamoto’s doubts, Su Qing left, but not before casting a meaningful glance at the second-in-command standing beside Yamamoto.
Upon returning to Beijing, Su Qing didn’t seek out Chu Yunrong but checked into a hotel to sleep well before spending her days wandering around major tourist spots in Beijing. This behavior was more fitting for a tourist than someone on a mission.
Su Qing was boating on a lake when she received a call from Qin Yan, "Su Qing, how is the situation?"
Sitting on the gunwale, Su Qing looked up at the sky, her tone relaxed, "It’s ongoing; the other party hasn’t been going out, so I can’t make contact."
"Su Qing, don’t intentionally delay the time," Qin Yan said coldly.
"I’m not delaying; what I said is the reality. Since I promised, I will handle this matter for you, so why the rush?" Su Qing was in no hurry.
Qin Yan’s eyes narrowed, filled with murderous intent, "I’m giving you two more days. After two days, I want to see Chu Yunrong." With that, she hung up the call. As long as she had both Chu Yunrong and Ya Xi, Qin Yan didn’t believe that Shen Qinglan would dare to defy.
Su Qing looked at the disconnected phone and felt uneasy. What should she do now? She obviously couldn’t really bring Chu Yunrong over, or else Shen Qinglan would be controlled by others again. Though Ya Xi was already in Qin Yan’s hands, one was still better than two.
But if she didn’t bring Chu Yunrong back, it would be hard to explain to Qin Yan. And knowing Qin Yan’s temperament, without Chu Yunrong, she probably wouldn’t even show up.
For the moment, Su Qing couldn’t think of a better solution.
**
Shen Qinglan had been waiting for Qin Yan’s response. Others might not believe that Mei was back, but Qin Yan would surely believe it. Qin Yan must know that Shen Qinglan was challenging her, but she still hadn’t accepted the challenge, which was very unlike her. What exactly was she hesitating about, or rather, what was she brewing?
"Enxi, found it." Just as Shen Qinglan was pondering, Jin Enxi suddenly spoke.
Shen Qinglan focused and looked at her, "Did you pinpoint the location?"
Jin Enxi nodded, "Yes, it’s almost certain it’s there, but they have many people, and rescuing Ya Xi will be very challenging."
Hearing this, Shen Qinglan showed no surprise. Qin Yan was determined to have a life-or-death battle with her this time. After all, she was running out of time; she could no longer afford to take it slow. Thinking this, Shen Qinglan stood up and put some items on her body.
"Even if it’s a dragon’s den or a tiger’s lair, I must break through."
"An, no matter what, we’ll be with you," Jin Enxi said.
Shen Qinglan smiled slightly, "Yes, together."
Shen Qinglan called Andre over, and the group carefully studied the terrain of the area where Qin Yan was located.
This time, Qin Yan had chosen a seaside villa. Behind the villa was a cliff, and below the cliff was the sea.
The cliff was very high, and its surface was relatively smooth. It was almost impossible for them to enter the villa stealthily from below the cliff; that meant they had to enter from the front.
Apart from personal grievances, Shen Qinglan was actually quite pleased with the location Qin Yan had chosen. It was a great place that was easy to defend but hard to attack. However, now they were on opposing sides, and this type of location became a source of worry for Shen Qinglan and her group.
"An, it seems we can only enter from the front too," Andre said seriously.
Shen Qinglan looked at the map, pointing to the sea area behind the villa, "I want to try entering from here."
"An, it’s too difficult. The cliff is very smooth with no foothold. A slight misstep could lead you to fall dozens of meters into the sea, which is extremely dangerous."
Shen Qinglan was well aware of this, but entering from the front meant facing Qin Yan’s maximum firepower. It was very likely that they would be annihilated before even rescuing Ya Xi. Rather than that, taking a risk might be better.
The other two fell silent upon hearing Shen Qinglan’s words. After a while, Andre spoke up, "An, you and Enxi cover me, and I’ll enter from below."
"No, Andre, when it comes to freehand climbing, I’m more skilled than you," Shen Qinglan said.
Andre stiffened; indeed, his expertise was in long-range attacks; sniping was his strength. When it came to such wilderness survival skills, Shen Qinglan was the best.
"An, should we seek help from Allen?" Jin Enxi suddenly suggested. They were only three people, which seemed insufficient. Once Qin Yan became aware of them, it was hard to ensure their safety, especially since they also had to protect Ya Xi.
"We’re here to rescue Ya Xi first. The more people, the more dangerous it is," Shen Qinglan said.
Shen Qinglan was stating the facts. With the three of them acting together, they may still be able to rescue Ya Xi silently. If they added more people, it would only lead to a direct confrontation. However, the other party had Ya Xi as a hostage, while they had nothing.
The decision was made. Shen Qinglan would enter from the sea area behind while Andre provided cover. If they were detected, Jin Enxi would draw the firepower from the side.
That night, the three of them changed their clothes, prepared the necessary items, and set off.
Jin Enxi and Andre set off first, while Shen Qinglan entered the water from the other side of the sea. She rented a small boat and slowly made her way to the bottom of the cliff. She looked up at the towering cliff, which was fifty to sixty meters high, estimating which side might be easier to climb.
The cliff was as smooth as they had anticipated, but through the night vision goggles, it was apparent that only the lower half was smooth. Once she climbed over that part, it would become easier. However, even just that half was still twenty to thirty meters.
Shen Qinglan furrowed her brows, found a relatively good foothold, and began to climb up.
She climbed slowly. The cliff face was often eroded by seawater, its sharp edges long smoothed away, making distances between secure footholds quite far apart. Shen Qinglan’s expression was stoic, the smell of seawater lingering in her nostrils, yet in her heart, she thought of Fu Hengyi and Anan, her husband and son who were waiting for her return. She couldn’t afford to have an accident; she wouldn’t let herself have one.
Andre and Jin Enxi lay in ambush in the trees around the villa, motionless, constantly observing every move inside the villa where lights were shining and armed men occasionally patrolled, leaving no gaps to exploit.
Jin Enxi’s youthful face looked somewhat solemn, unsure how Shen Qinglan was faring and whether her progress was smooth.
On the other side, when Allen received the news, Shen Qinglan and her team had already embarked. Allen’s face turned pale, "Quick, gather everyone and come with me," he instructed Peter, hurrying along.
They had been in a state of readiness for combat these days, so assembling was not troublesome.
Peter quickly gathered the needed personnel.
On the way, Allen contacted Fu Hengyi. It didn’t make sense for Shen Qinglan to be taking risks while her husband, Fu Hengyi, was kept in the dark.
Hearing from Allen that Shen Qinglan had gone to rescue someone on her own, Fu Hengyi’s face turned grim, but deeply hidden in his eyes were intense worry and fear. Qinglan, you must wait for me, you must.
The weather that night was less than favorable, with strong winds over the sea and waves occasionally hitting the cliff. Shen Qinglan’s clothes were already drenched. She did not look back down, but instead focused above. Halfway up, the sky suddenly poured heavy rain, the large raindrops causing a stinging sensation on her face. Shen Qinglan blinked and continued to climb.
"It’s raining, Andre," Jin Enxi fretted. The cliff was already difficult to climb, and now with the heavy rain, it was even more challenging. A slight mistake and Shen Qinglan might fall.
"We have to trust An," Andre kept his voice low as he spoke softly, knowing that all they could do now was wait calmly and not make any rash moves that might disrupt Shen Qinglan’s plan.
Jin Enxi nodded, his face still etched with worry.
Meanwhile, in the villa, Qin Yan called Su Qing again, urging her to act. She couldn’t wait any longer; she wanted to kill Shen Qinglan and destroy the Shen Family now.
But Su Qing was still indifferent, which infuriated Qin Yan to the point of smashing her phone.
"Madam, don’t get angry over someone who won’t obey," the housekeeper consoled her.
The veins on Qin Yan’s neck bulged visibly, clearly infuriated, "This damned thing, really thinks she’s invincible, huh? Thinks she can fly just because her wings are a bit strong. She still has to see if I agree."
"Madam, when she returns, we mustn’t let her leave easily. No matter the cost, I will keep her here. It’s getting late; you should rest now." At this moment, the housekeeper and Qin Yan couldn’t possibly imagine that the people they thought were still in Beijing had already reached an airport in Country Y and were on their way here.
Qin Yan steadied her breathing, listening to the heavy rain outside the window and nodded in agreement. Her body needed more rest now.
The housekeeper pushed Qin Yan into the room, and a maid naturally stepped forward to lift her onto the bed.
"Housekeeper, has Yan Anbang arrived?" Qin Yan called to the housekeeper who was about to leave the room.
The housekeeper stopped, "He should have already arrived."
"Send this address to his phone. He must be missing Ya Xi dearly by now."
"Yes, madam."
Qin Yan curled her lips into a smile. The maid by her side, who had accidentally witnessed the scene, shuddered unconsciously, which was caught by Qin Yan, her eyes turning cold. "Housekeeper."
The housekeeper immediately understood Qin Yan’s intentions. Before the maid could react, a bullet had penetrated her chest. The maid stared at Qin Yan in disbelief, and even as she fell to the ground, her eyes remained open.
The housekeeper called for two people, had the maid’s body carried away, and thoroughly cleaned the room before leaving.
The rain grew heavier. Shen Qinglan was hindered by the rain, barely able to keep her eyes open. She closed and reopened her eyes, the rainwater stinging as it flowed into them, causing discomfort, but she seemed unaffected, her expression numb. She estimated her distance from the cliff’s summit, and judging by her current pace, it would take about another half hour.
Lightning occasionally streaked across the sky, illuminating the pitch-black night for a moment. If anyone could see the person on the cliff right now, they would be incredibly surprised.
Shen Qinglan was using this brief lightning to see the path as she climbed upward, with the sound of the waves hitting the cliffs and the thunder, almost deaf right next to her ear.
Spotting the next foothold, she had just lifted her foot when the rock her right hand was grasped on suddenly loosened. Her body plunged downward instantly. Startled, she quickly pulled out a military knife and fiercely jabbed it into the cliff, her other hand tightly grasping a sharp, protruding rock, which stabilized her form. From her previous position, she had dropped about five meters. Here, already about thirty meters above sea level, a fall would be disastrous—likely meeting with the King of Hell.
Shen Qinglan steadied herself, wiped the rain from her face, and looked up towards the cliff’s summit, about twenty meters away. She continued to climb upwards.
**
A day earlier, Nancheng.
Yan Anbang received a package, sent from Country Y. Knowing Ya Xi had been traveling lately, he thought it was from her and felt delighted, eagerly tearing open the parcel.
Inside was a USB drive, puzzling Yan Anbang—why would Ya Xi send him a USB out of the blue? He plugged the drive into his computer, and as soon as he opened the file, his expression darkened. The video showed Ya Xi in a frenzy, just like he had seen before.
"Qin Yan." The two words carried a bleeding sadness.
Following the return address on the package, Yan Anbang immediately bought a plane ticket to Country Y.
Yan Anbang arrived at the place Qin Yan had previously been, but naturally didn’t find anyone. Just as he was worrying, his phone rang with an address, and without a second thought, Anbang hurried to the specified location.
When Shen Qinglan reached the top of the cliff, it was already three or four in the morning, the time when people are most exhausted. As she expected, there was no guard on this cliff. Probably even Qin Yan wouldn’t believe that someone could climb such a high cliff bare-handed.
There were traces of blood on Qinglan’s hands, which were quickly washed away by the rain. The wound was caused by sharp rocks when she slipped, but she ignored it. Stretching her body, she tapped her earring twice. Jin Enxi and Andre immediately knew that Shen Qinglan had reached her destination successfully, both heaved a sigh of relief that no mishaps had occurred.
Qinglan was now in the villa’s back garden, which was said to be a garden, but not a very large one—just planted with a few flowers and plants. After observing her surroundings, she located a room with an open window and climbed up again.
Her movements were agile this time; it took just a few seconds to reach the window. She perched on the windowsill, peered inside, and saw no one. It seemed to be an empty room.
With her hands supporting on the windowsill, Qinglan deftly flipped into the room and quickly ducked behind the curtains to hide.
She listened quietly for a while. Despite the loud thunder, she could tell that the room was indeed empty. Qinglan let out a soft breath of relief. Climbing the cliff had drained much of her strength, and she needed to rest.
After sending a signal to Enxi and the others, Qinglan sat down casually on the floor. She didn’t have a map of the villa and wasn’t sure where Ya Xi was being held. She would need to search each room—if she had bad luck and was discovered before finding Ya Xi, she could only blame her misfortune.
After sitting for about ten minutes, Qinglan’s strength had recovered to about sixty or seventy percent. She stood up and moved silently, barely audible. During her rest, she had wrung the water from her clothes. Although still soaking wet, at least she wasn’t dripping water anymore.
She left the room and, using the flashes of lightning coming through the window, sized up her surroundings and located another room next door. This was the second floor, and Qinglan quietly and soundlessly walked down the stairs.
Fortunately, the heavy rain perfectly masked all sounds of the night. Probably no one in the villa expected an operation in such weather, so those who should be resting were resting.
Qinglan easily reached the first floor, casually opened a room—it was an empty guestroom without any occupants. She thought for a moment, closed the door, and walked in another direction.
This time, the room she entered had someone in it, snoring loudly and obviously in deep sleep. Qinglan gently closed the door, careful not to disturb the person inside.
Qinglan opened three more rooms consecutively—two were occupied, and the other was also empty, but none had Ya Xi inside.
Qinglan’s gaze then moved to the last room on the first floor. It was located in the corner, resembling a storage room. She walked over and saw a lock on the door, which was currently locked.
She didn’t have the right tools to pick the lock, but after recalling the layout she had passed, which wasn’t far from the kitchen, she felt around in the kitchen and found a thin metal wire.
Returning to the storage room, Qinglan picked the lock in no time and gently opened the door, but didn’t enter because she heard a faint sobbing sound; under the backdrop of the rain outside, it was very weak, but she was certain she hadn’t misheard.
Her intuition told her that Ya Xi was inside.
Instead of rushing in, she slowly opened the door a bit more and peeked inside. It was indeed a storage room filled with various items. In the corner, there was a huddled figure. A flash of lightning passed through the sky, and Qinglan clearly saw the figure—it was unquestionably Ya Xi.
In that moment, she saw Ya Xi curled up into a ball, shivering in the corner. The faint sobs she heard earlier were indeed coming from Ya Xi.
A pang struck Qinglan’s heart as she briskly approached Ya Xi. Sensing someone approaching, Ya Xi screamed. Fortunately, a clap of thunder boomed at that instant, perfectly masking her scream and preventing it from alerting anyone else. Otherwise, the noise would have definitely disturbed most people in the villa.
Shen Qinglan’s expression changed instantly, and she covered Ya Xi’s mouth with her hand as Ya Xi began to struggle violently, Shen Qinglan held her tightly, whispering in her ear, "Ya Xi, it’s me, I am Shen Qinglan."
Ya Xi ignored Shen Qinglan’s words and struggled fiercely. Watching her go frantic, Shen Qinglan felt her heart sinking to the bottom. Suddenly, Ya Xi bit down hard on Shen Qinglan’s hand. Shen Qinglan winced in pain but did not push Ya Xi away; instead, she held her even tighter, continuously calling out her name in her ear, "Ya Xi, Xiao Xi, it’s me, I am Shen Qinglan, I’ve come to rescue you."
Shen Qinglan could feel the blood flowing from her hand, perhaps the smell of blood further agitated Ya Xi, who released Shen Qinglan’s hand and tried to scream out loud. Shen Qinglan quickly covered her mouth again, "Ya Xi, don’t shout, your sister is taking you home, can you be good?"
Ya Xi continued to struggle; she had no sense of reason, nothing but struggling. As time slowly passed by, any noise here could accidentally draw people to this place, and out of desperation, Shen Qinglan had no choice but to knock Ya Xi out with a chop of her hand.
Ya Xi collapsed into Shen Qinglan’s arms, and by the light of lightning, Shen Qinglan hastily examined Ya Xi’s body, which, apart from wrinkled clothes, seemed unharmed. It was uncertain what Qin Yan had done to her, causing her to recall past memories and relapse into hysteria.
"Ya Xi, I’m sorry." The air carried Shen Qinglan’s slightly choked voice.
Ya Xi’s head was resting on Shen Qinglan’s shoulder, resembling someone asleep.
Shen Qinglan carried Ya Xi on her back, securing her with a rope, which she had specifically brought for this purpose, never expecting it to be necessary so soon.
The storeroom had no windows, and the only exit was that door. As soon as she stepped out, she ran into a maid who had just woken up to get water from the kitchen. The maid, seeing the sudden figure in the living room, was stunned at first, exchanging gazes with Shen Qinglan and then finally reacting by opening her mouth to scream loudly.
Shen Qinglan’s eyes turned cold, and her gleaming military knife flew out ahead of her, hitting the maid directly in the throat, tearing her scream into a fragmented sound that mixed with the rain and disappeared into the night.
The maid’s body fell to the ground, blood spreading across the floor. Shen Qinglan expressionlessly pulled the knife out and headed towards the kitchen. She had noticed the kitchen faced the cliff when searching there earlier.
She climbed out of the kitchen window. With Ya Xi on her back, her movements lacked the agility of her previous climb, and inadvertently, she knocked off the dishes placed on the glass platform; they fell to the ground and shattered, finally waking some of the not-so-deeply asleep people.
Shen Qinglan’s gaze shifted slightly, quickening her pace, and soon reached the cliff’s edge. It was not easy to climb up, and it was even harder to descend safely, especially while carrying someone.
"There’s been an intruder." Inside the villa, someone got up to check the noise and saw the maid’s body in the living room, immediately shouting loudly. This shout woke everyone up, and the housekeeper quickly jumped out of bed and ran out of the room.
Lights immediately turned on inside the villa, and the guards at the main entrance rushed in, "Housekeeper, we didn’t see anyone breaking in."
The housekeeper’s gaze turned towards the kitchen, "The cliff at the back."
Seeing the villa light up instantly, Andre and Jin Enxi realized that Shen Qinglan had been discovered. Without hesitation, Andre pulled the trigger, killing the two men at the door. Gunfire in the dark night was strikingly obvious; upon hearing it, everyone rushed towards the main entrance.
Andre fired two shots, then paused, his goal being to draw people’s attention and gunfire, to buy time for Shen Qinglan’s retreat.
Shen Qinglan also heard the gunfire and knew that Andre had begun his action. She looked around; it was just past five in the morning, nearly six. Despite the heavy rain, the sky was beginning to lighten, improving visibility; this made it easier for Shen Qinglan to see her surroundings. The cliff she had just climbed was smooth, but about fifty meters away in another direction, vines were growing on the cliff.
A hint of surprise flashed in Shen Qinglan’s eyes as she ran in that direction. Suddenly, a bullet hit the ground at her feet. Shen Qinglan quickly turned back to see the housekeeper leading people in her direction, firing their guns.
Shen Qinglan turned around, and two handguns appeared in her hands, firing several shots in the direction of the housekeeper.
Hearing the gunshots from this direction, Jin Enxi, who had already attracted some firepower, quickly moved towards this area. Shen Qinglan didn’t have many bullets left; she needed to protect her.
Andre’s marksmanship was precise, one shot per target, each shot hitting its mark. Since it was long-range shooting, it was difficult for the opponents to pinpoint his location. For the time being, they had no way to handle him.
Moreover, Andre’s position was not fixed, giving the impression that there was more than one sniper hidden in the dark. The leader in this direction was not the housekeeper, and seeing this, he dared not act rashly.
Shen Qinglan, having been discovered, no longer hid. The gunfire exchange between the two sides was fierce. Seeing this, the housekeeper raised his hand and fired a shot at Shen Qinglan’s back, aiming directly at Ya Xi.
Shen Qinglan sensed the breaking sound behind her and instinctively turned around and ducked. The bullet grazed past her shoulder, bringing a burning sensation to the skin on her arm—it was a graze wound.
Shen Qinglan didn’t bother to check the wound and turned to run into the woods. On one side of the villa were mountains and on the other, a beach, an excellent environment if one was on vacation.
Having been discovered, the danger of jumping off the cliff greatly increased. If the housekeeper and his men cut the rope while they were in mid-air, both Shen Qinglan and Ya Xi would end up buried at sea. Escaping into the mountains, however, might just offer a glimmer of hope.
Bullets fell at her feet, rain struck her face, and she was carrying a person on her back. The situation was utterly dire. Whilst running, Shen Qinglan contacted Jin Enxi and others to change the combat plan on the fly, and retreated into the woods. As for how to escape from here, that was a concern for later.
**
Fu Hengyi and Allen were rushing to the seaside villa, "Hurry up," Fu Hengyi urged.
The driver, one of Allen’s subordinates, glanced at Fu Hengyi through the rearview mirror and ignored his words. Fu Hengyi’s face darkened, but before he could speak, Peter, sitting beside the driver, slapped the driver on the head, "Are you crawling like a snail? Hurry up."
The driver might ignore Fu Hengyi, but he couldn’t ignore Peter. After being hit by Peter, he dared not complain and stepped on the accelerator, though he didn’t dare to floor it. With a troubled expression, he said, "Mr. Peter, it’s raining heavily, and the roads here twist and turn, making it difficult to drive. One carelessness and it’s easy to crash off the cliff."
Peter, of course, knew the roads here were tough to navigate. Although close to the sea, it was also by the mountains. The road to the seaside villa required driving on a winding road. The developer of the road perhaps didn’t think clearly when designing such a hard-to-navigate road. Even on a sunny day with good visibility, accidents happened occasionally.
Thus, despite heavy promotion after its completion, the seaside resort didn’t attract many buyers. Combined with the inconvenient living facilities, where even basic commodities required an hour’s drive to the nearest small town, the area eventually became desolate. This was one of the reasons Qin Yan dared to choose this location.
"Just try to drive as fast as you can." Peter said, this one was oblivious didn’t he see Allen’s face had already darkened, the man now was a ticking time bomb, one wrong move and he might explode.
"It looks like your subordinates aren’t up to much either," Fu Hengyi said coldly. Hearing this, Allen stared at the back of the driver’s head, his gaze icy cold.
Feeling the chill from Allen’s gaze, the driver stepped on the accelerator again. However, he lost control of the vehicle, and it was about to rush towards the cliff. Peter, alarmed, lunged over to wrest the steering wheel, and the driver quickly hit the brakes. The car finally came to a stop.
As soon as the car stabilized, Fu Hengyi opened the door, got out, pulled the driver out, and took the driver’s seat himself.
"Strap in," Fu Hengyi said flatly. As soon as his words ended, the car shot out like an arrow released from its bow.
