Chapter 395: 397. Catching a soft-shelled turtle in a jar, handsome in action.

Pei Yinong quickly stood up, cradling the child in her arms. "Sweetheart, don’t cry, mommy is here." She handed the child to Shen Qinglan, "It seems like he’s wet."

Shen Qinglan checked, and indeed he was.

"I’ll do it," Pei Yinong said.

As she was changing Anan’s diaper, Pei Hao woke up, his gaze puzzled as he looked at Pei Yinong. "Mom, I think I just heard my little brother crying."

Once he clearly saw what Pei Yinong was doing, his eyes brightened, and he slid off the bed. "Mom, little brother is awake."

He waved his little hands, greeting Anan, "Hello little brother, I’m Pei Hao, your big brother."

Anan blew bubbles, ignoring the little guy.

The little guy looked at Shen Qinglan with a sad face, "Auntie, little brother isn’t paying attention to me."

Shen Qinglan reached out and ruffled his hair. "It’s okay, auntie is here for you."

The little guy’s mood quickly shifted, he focused on a certain happy baby lying there and said, "Auntie, can I hold my little brother’s hand?"

Shen Qinglan nodded, and the little guy carefully grasped little Anan’s small hand and smiled, "Auntie, little brother’s hand is so small."

Unconsciously, the baby grabbed the little guy’s hand and tried to put it in his mouth. The little guy quickly pulled his hand back, "Little brother, you can’t, hands are dirty, you can’t eat them."

Shen Qinglan smiled as she watched the interactions of the two little ones, certain thoughts in her mind growing firmer.

Pei Yinong stayed until Fu Hengyi came back before she left.

"How do you feel today?" asked Shen Qinglan.

"Not bad," replied Fu Hengyi, glancing at the sleeping baby and speaking with disgust, "How is he sleeping again? Surely someone hasn’t gone silly."

Shen Qinglan couldn’t hold back and rolled her eyes at Fu Hengyi, who innocently touched his nose.

"Fu Hengyi, have you thought about what I mentioned to you the other day?" Shen Qinglan suddenly took on a serious tone.

Fu Hengyi’s expression also grew solemn as he countered, "If I don’t agree, will you give up?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Qinglan fell silent, then shook her head. "I don’t want to give up."

Fu Hengyi gave a slight smile. "In that case, just do it, I will definitely protect you and our child."

Shen Qinglan reached out and took Fu Hengyi’s hand. If her body had been more cooperative, she would have really loved to kiss him. "Fu Hengyi, I knew you would support me."

Fu Hengyi gave a wry smile. He didn’t agree with Shen Qinglan’s plan to use herself as bait to lure Qin Yan into a trap. There were many ways to catch Qin Yan, and he didn’t want Shen Qinglan to take risks. However, Shen Qinglan was determined and not easily persuaded. Moreover, both Eden and Andre had discussed it with him, and ultimately Fu Hengyi had no choice but to agree to this operation.

Watching over her himself was better than letting her sneak into these dangerous situations without his knowledge.

From that day onward, Fu Hengyi began gradually refusing visits to see Shen Qinglan in the hospital, essentially barring anyone other than family. To lure Qin Yan into a trap, the hospital room couldn’t be too crowded, always leaving an opportunity for the enemy to strike.

Fu Hengyi’s life remained soaked in the hospital atmosphere, either accompanying his wife and son in the room or staying with Eden in the rehabilitation center. Other than fewer visits from Shen Qinglan’s friends, everything seemed normal.

This situation continued for three to four days, and Shen Qinglan was scheduled to be discharged in another two days. Since she had become physically weaker, she needed to undergo a "double confinement period," moving to a maternity center after leaving the hospital tomorrow.

The maternity center was personally chosen by Fu Hengyi. Although the elders preferred her to undergo confinement at home—considering it more comfortable and the service more attentive—it was Fu Hengyi who insisted on a professional center, and thus the others agreed.

In Country Y, Allen listened to Lanlan’s housekeeper’s report, his face pale with anger. "Qin Yan really is a curse. Where is she now?"

The housekeeper bowed his head. "It’s said she’s in Country R, someone saw Mrs. Jin there."

"Go, immediately send someone to Country R to bring her back to me and throw her into the Beast Cage, and wipe out her subordinates as well."

The housekeeper hesitated, "Young master, Honda in Country R is very close to Mrs. Jin, and with her being on his turf, bringing her back will likely come at a great cost."

"Whatever the cost, remember I want her alive. Just keep her breathing," said Allen, his eyes cold. He didn’t want Qin Yan to die that easily—such a death would be too merciful for her.

The housekeeper wanted to persuade him otherwise but knowing Allen’s personality, he knew it was useless and turned to leave.

Allen

Under Shen Qinglan’s deliberate arrangements, the news of her discharge tomorrow spread "like it had wings," and the entire hospital knew. This was exactly the effect Shen Qinglan wanted.

Qin Yan would undoubtedly be monitoring her movements closely, so there must be someone in the hospital passing information to her. Since tonight was the last chance, Shen Qinglan thought she would make her move tonight as well.

As Anan was due for a physical examination, he had been taken back to the nursery.

There were people secretly guarding the nursery, so there was no need to worry about the baby’s safety. Fu Hengyi was still sleeping in the hospital room tonight.

Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi were asleep when they suddenly heard footsteps in the middle of the night, both opening their eyes. They looked at each other and then closed their eyes again.

There was a faint moonlight coming through the window, and the room wasn’t pitch black, allowing a vague view of the room’s interior.

The door was quietly opened, the person clearly professional, making almost no sound. If not for Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi’s vigilance, most people wouldn’t have noticed someone had come in.

The intruder walked up to Shen Qinglan but didn’t act immediately. Instead, she stared directly at Shen Qinglan, hate evident in her eyes, and a Q slowly aimed at Shen Qinglan’s head appeared in her hand.

Shen Qinglan suddenly opened her eyes. The person startled and instinctively pulled the trigger. However, before she could act, pain shot through her arm, and she groaned. The Q fell to the floor, and as she turned to leave, someone kicked her in the abdomen, bending her over in pain.

The room’s light was turned on, and the light filled the room. Fu Hengyi gripped the intruder’s shoulder, pinning her firmly to the floor, while Shen Qinglan got up. "Xu Nuo, long time no see."

Even though the person arriving was dressed in a nurse’s uniform, wearing a mask, and wrapped up tightly, Shen Qinglan still recognized her at a glance.

She reached out and removed the mask from Xu Nuo’s face, frowned at her look, and found it too easy to handle Xu Nuo this time. She had fought Xu Nuo before and naturally understood Xu Nuo’s skills; her performance just now resembled more of an ordinary person who couldn’t even truss a chicken.

Xu Nuo coldly looked at Shen Qinglan, silent. She had come prepared not to return, but it was a pity that her useless body couldn’t cause Shen Qinglan even the slightest injury.

Xu Nuo had arrived in Beijing five days earlier when Shen Qinglan had already woken up. At that moment, she knew it was now difficult to target Shen Qinglan, but having come this far, she couldn’t bear not doing anything.

She had thought about harming Shen Qinglan’s child but found no opportunity, and with Shen Qinglan being discharged from the hospital the next day, the chances were even fewer; thus, she took the risk tonight, if only heaven had favored her.

Shen Qinglan had suspected that Qin Yan might send someone, but she never thought it would be Xu Nuo since Xu Nuo was Allen’s allegiance. She frowned and looked at Xu Nuo, "Where is Qin Yan?"

Xu Nuo kept her head down, silent from the start, not uttering a word. Jin Enxi entered the room, saw it was Xu Nuo, her eyes gleamed, and a cruel smile played at her lips, "Oh, Xu Nuo, finally we meet, you have no idea how much I’ve missed you."

Xu Nuo showed no reaction, continuing to keep her head down. Jin Enxi held a syringe, specially prepared for the guest, approached Xu Nuo, and directly jabbed it into Xu Nuo’s arm.

From beginning to end, Xu Nuo didn’t even struggle, the three exchanged glances, sensing something was amiss.

Jin Enxi abruptly lifted Xu Nuo’s clothes but didn’t see a bomb attached to her body, slightly relieved.

"Heh," Xu Nuo sneered coldly, "Didn’t expect you guys to be afraid of death too."

Jin Enxi looked annoyed but made no move, as this place was a hospital, a public setting.

Xu Nuo gradually felt the weakness in her body and knew it must be because of the medicine she just received, too lazy to struggle and quietly waiting for the drug to take effect.

Soon, Xu Nuo fell asleep, and Fu Hengyi finally let her go, but no one saw the quick vanishing smile at the corner of Xu Nuo’s mouth.

Jin Enxi greeted Shen Qinglan and took the person away, not planning to hand Xu Nuo over to the police. Xu Nuo knew too much, and who knew what she would say to the police. Fu Hengyi understood this too, so from the beginning, he never asked them about Xu Nuo’s whereabouts.

Andre and his men had support outside and quickly left the hospital.

Shen Qinglan was still frowning when Fu Hengyi washed his hands and came out, seeing her in this state, he couldn’t help but ask, "What are you thinking?"

"Catching Xu Nuo seemed too easy this time," Shen Qinglan said.

"Her limbs were disabled by someone," Fu Hengyi said.

"What?"

"Her limbs seem to have been broken by someone, she had no strength at all," Fu Hengyi explained, capturing Xu Nuo had taken no effort at all.

Shen Qinglan understood; no wonder it was so easy to subdue her this time, "Is Qin Yan trying to get Xu Nuo killed?" Otherwise, why send a useless person? But soon, Shen Qinglan realized that Qin Yan hadn’t sent a useless person but a madwoman.

"Ah, there’s a bomb!" A scream pierced through the night, slicing through the silence, reaching Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi’s ears.

Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi were just about to go to sleep when they heard the sound. They exchanged glances, sensing something was amiss, and immediately rolled out of bed and hurried toward the source of the noise.

The sound was coming from the restroom on their floor. When Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi arrived, they saw a nurse standing at the entrance to the women’s restroom, her expression fraught with terror. Shen Qinglan’s eyes darkened slightly, and she was about to enter, but the nurse grabbed her, "Don’t go in, there’s a bomb inside." Her voice trembled, and even her hands were shaking.

"It’s okay," Shen Qinglan said with a slight smile.

The nurse clung to her, "I’ve already called the police. Don’t go in, it’s dangerous."

Meanwhile, the entire building had already erupted into chaos. That initial scream had awakened not only Shen Qinglan and her companions but many others as well. Hearing there was a bomb, everyone decided to run first and ask questions later.

While the nurse was still holding onto Shen Qinglan, Fu Hengyi had already entered. He quickly identified the location of the bomb, which was behind the water tank of a toilet.

It was a mini timed bomb, displaying twenty minutes left. If the nurse hadn’t gone to the restroom in the middle of the night and heard its ticking due to the silent surroundings, many lives could have been lost that night.

Fu Hengyi came out and whispered a few words into Shen Qinglan’s ear. Her eyes darkened as he spoke of the state-of-the-art mini bomb with massive destructive power, which could potentially require the sacrifice of everyone in the building if luck were bad. The tricky part was that once such a bomb was activated, it could only be disarmed or left to explode; it could not be moved carelessly because any movement could trigger an immediate explosion.

It was obvious who had planted the bomb; Xu Nuo was simply a madman. Now, the most pressing issue was figuring out how many bombs Xu Nuo had planted. If there was only this one, it was manageable. But if there were more, and if even one remained undetected, the consequences would be unimaginable.

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Fu Hengyi turned to Shen Qinglan, "Take the child and leave first."

"And you?" Shen Qinglan asked. She knew without asking what he planned to do.

Fu Hengyi patted her hand and gave her a reassuring look, "Take the child and leave first; trust me."

Shen Qinglan gazed at him steadily, "Fu Hengyi, the child and I are waiting for you."

Fu Hengyi smiled faintly, "Alright."

Shen Qinglan turned and left. Just as she reached the nursery, she encountered Cissily, who was holding none other than little Anan, "An."

"Xu Nuo has planted bombs in this building, take the child and leave first." Shen Qinglan instructed.

Cissily’s face changed, "And you, An?"

"Fu Hengyi is here, and I need to help him," Shen Qinglan responded. She glanced at the child sleeping in Cissily’s arms and smiled, "Cissily, hurry and go. Don’t worry, I won’t let myself get hurt."

Cissily looked deeply at Shen Qinglan, "An, take care of yourself."

Shen Qinglan nodded, watching them leave before quickly turning back to the hospital. Fu Hengyi was organizing an evacuation. Seeing her return, his expression changed, "Why are you back? Where’s the child?"

"The child is with Cissily. I came back to help you," Shen Qinglan said calmly.

"You don’t need to be here; you should leave now," Fu Hengyi said sternly.

"Fu Hengyi, right now, the most important thing is to find the position and number of bombs. We don’t have much time," Shen Qinglan argued.

Fu Hengyi knew this wasn’t the time for discussions. Acknowledging Shen Qinglan could indeed be of help, he nodded, "Alright, we’ll split up, but you have to promise me, if things go wrong, you must leave first, regardless of my situation."

Shen Qinglan knew that if she didn’t agree, he would never feel at ease. "Okay, you also pay attention to safety." She turned to leave, but Fu Hengyi grabbed her, taking off his coat and draping it over her shoulders. "Don’t catch cold."

Shen Qinglan’s heart warmed slightly, and she tightened her clothes around her before truly leaving. The sound of sirens came from downstairs; the police must have arrived.

Shen Qinglan quickly identified the direction and started walking toward the stairs, while calling Jin Enxi on the phone. When Jin Enxi heard about the bomb in the hospital, her hands shook while driving.

"An, are you alright?"

"I’m fine. Let’s not talk about this now. You need to wake Xu Nuo up and ask about the number and location of the bombs," Shen Qinglan said. Although she knew that since Xu Nuo had done this, she most likely wouldn’t tell, Shen Qinglan still wanted to try.

Jin Enxi hung up the phone, found a quiet and inconspicuous corner to park, and poured a bottle of water on Xu Nuo’s head. Xu Nuo didn’t wake up, which didn’t surprise Jin Enxi. She looked at Eden, "Eden, wake her up."

Eden opened the medical kit he carried with him, took out a reagent, and injected it into Xu Nuo’s body. After a while, Xu Nuo opened her eyes.

Jin Enxi grabbed her shirt and said coldly, "Talk. The number and location of the bombs."

Xu Nuo’s mind was still foggy, and she didn’t understand Jin Enxi’s words at first. However, once she understood, she burst into laughter, "Hahahaha, hahaha, good, really good."

Jin Enxi, annoyed, slapped her across the face, "Talk! Where are the bombs?"

Blood trickled from the corner of Xu Nuo’s mouth, but she smiled even more joyously, "Isn’t Shen Qinglan very capable? Then let her find it herself. If it can’t be found, hehe, the entire building will explode and turn into ruins, causing all those innocent people to die a tragic death. What do you think their families would feel if they knew their loved ones died because of Shen Qinglan?"

Xu Nuo’s smile grew crazier, "Haha, just thinking about it excites me. It’s just a pity that I can’t see it now." Her tone was full of regret.

Jin Enxi’s hands itched with the desire to act, but she forcefully suppressed her rage. "Speak. What demand do you have before you’ll reveal the location and number of the bombs?" If it wasn’t for the lack of time and the difficulty in searching, she really didn’t want to compromise with Xu Nuo.

"Hmm, very simple," Xu Nuo smiled, "As long as Shen Qinglan is willing to take her bastard child and die, I will tell her."

Upon hearing this, a murderous glint passed through Jin Enxi’s eyes, and her fist heavily landed on Xu Nuo’s abdomen. The blow was solid, contorting Xu Nuo’s face in pain, "If you have the guts, kill me."

"Xu Nuo, don’t be shameless."

Unfazed, Xu Nuo looked at Jin Enxi expressionlessly, "You can kill me."

"You think I won’t?" Jin Enxi narrowed her eyes.

Xu Nuo closed her eyes, a look of resigned acceptance on her face. Jin Enxi watched her, that died-pig-not-afraid-of-boiling-water attitude fueling the fury in her heart like a volcano ready to erupt.

Eden held her hand and shook his head. People like Xu Nuo, if they truly didn’t want to talk, it would be hard to get anything from them in a short time, and what they lacked most right now was time.

Eden called Shen Qinglan. Upon hearing him, she said nothing and just hung up. Since there was no breakthrough with Xu Nuo, she had to rely on herself. She forced herself to calm down, blocking out all surrounding sounds, and imagined the hospital’s floor plan in her mind. If she were Xu Nuo, where would she place the bombs?

After figuring it out, Shen Qinglan turned and headed in one direction. She went to a corner with dense vegetation at the northeast corner of the building. She stared at the corner, thought for a moment, then walked in; indeed, there was also a timer bomb there showing twelve minutes left.

Nearby, the sounds of the police organizing the evacuation of the crowd could be heard. But this was the maternity ward, and in the quiet early morning, everyone was sound asleep. Even if they were awake, the evacuation wouldn’t be quick. Perhaps by the time the bomb exploded, there would still be people in the building.

Shen Qinglan told Fu Hengyi her current location, and soon the police hurried over. Shen Qinglan pointed at the bomb and said, "The bomb is there."

A police officer wearing a bulletproof vest stepped forward, heading straight for the location of the bomb. He was holding tools, clearly an expert in defusing bombs.

Shen Qinglan didn’t stay to watch — instead, she hurried to another possible location.

The next location was in the northwest corner. Shen Qinglan searched several corners but couldn’t find anything. She frowned, thinking it didn’t make sense. If a bomb had been placed in the northeast corner, then placing another one in the northwest corner would be the quickest way to destroy the entire building, so why couldn’t she find it?

Shen Qinglan furrowed her brow, her eyes filled with doubt. Then she suddenly paused and looked at a flowerpot placed in the corner. Slowly, she walked over and shone a flashlight from her phone on it. Indeed, she found another bomb hidden behind the flowerpot.

She informed the police of this location, and they quickly arrived. However, the expression on the police officer’s face soon changed. The bomb-disposal expert said, "This bomb is different from the last one — it’s more difficult, and I’m not sure I can handle it."

Shen Qinglan’s footsteps paused, as she was about to leave, and she looked at the bomb-disposal officer, "How sure are you?"

The bomb-disposal officer looked troubled. "Less than thirty percent." He had only heard about such bombs — this was his first actual encounter with one.

Shen Qinglan approached, but a policeman stopped her. "It’s too dangerous; you can’t go there."

Shen Qinglan blinked and spoke, "I can defuse bombs." Although she hadn’t touched these things for many years, she had been around them since childhood, and the familiar feeling imprinted in her bones instinctively told her what to do.

The policeman looked at her skeptically. They knew Mrs. Fu came from a military family and might be more familiar with these things than most, but still... "Mrs. Fu, this is not a joke, nor is it a time for you to practice. Please leave this area immediately. We have already contacted a better expert who will be here soon."

Shen Qinglan’s eyes flashed. It was unexpected to be rejected like this. She thought for a moment and ignored the police officer’s objections, walking directly to the bomb. She grabbed the tools from a policeman’s hand and crouched down, speaking lightly, "Shine the light here."

Her face was indifferent, and even her tone lax, as if she wasn’t facing a bomb but something utterly mundane. Yet, in that moment, she exuded an aura of authority that made people instinctively want to submit to her.

A policeman complied and shone the light on the spot, allowing Shen Qinglan to see clearly.

When she actually began to defuse the bomb, Shen Qinglan’s casual demeanor gradually shifted to a serious expression. She skillfully removed the bomb’s casing, exposing the multicolored wires inside — all within thirty seconds — leaving the watching police officers stunned.

Shen Qinglan carefully inspected the various wires, picked up scissors, and reached toward one of the wires.

"Mrs. Fu," a policeman called out to her, swallowing hard, "our expert will be here any minute, maybe you should wait."

Shen Qinglan glanced at the officer, her hand movements unwavering as sounds of sharp intakes of breath echoed around. While the policeman was still processing, Shen Qinglan had already cut two wires. Only three were left — cutting one more would suffice.

But of the remaining three, cutting the wrong one would cause the bomb to instantly explode — it was very dangerous, and sweat began to bead on several policemen’s foreheads.

"Mrs. Fu, let our expert handle the remaining wire," the policeman spoke again. "The first two cuts might have been lucky, but Mrs. Fu, you are an amateur. If you make a mistake, we are all in danger."

Shen Qinglan glanced at the policeman, her gaze icy. She looked down at the three remaining wires, her eyes flickering with conflict. She was not very sure about the last wire either. After mulling it over, Shen Qinglan extended her scissors towards the black wire.

Several policemen were so nervous they almost forgot to breathe. "Snip." The faint sound clearly reached their ears, and one policeman even closed his eyes.

Despite the noisy surroundings, in that moment, the area fell into an eerie silence. Shen Qinglan looked at the still ticking digits, a slight smile curving on her lips. She stood up, tossed the scissors to one of the policemen who quickly caught them.

As the policemen watched Shen Qinglan’s retreating figure, her slight frame seemed inexplicably imposing in that moment.

Holding the scissors, the police officer glanced at the paused timer—6 minutes and 57 seconds. He remembered the starting number was 7 minutes and 37 seconds, meaning Shen Qinglan had taken less than a minute from start to finish.

He looked at his colleague and asked blankly, "Could you do it?"

The person asked shook his head. Given half an hour, he might be able to figure out the structure of the bomb and defuse it, but in a matter of seconds, he couldn’t accomplish that.

"This Mrs. Fu is really impressive," one police officer softly said, a sentiment that was agreed upon by several others. They silently glanced in the direction Shen Qinglan had left, but she was no longer in sight.

Shen Qinglan tightened the coat around her, making sure she wouldn’t be chilled by the cold night breeze, then went back to find Fu Hengyi.

She didn’t continue searching for the bomb because, just moments ago, Jin Enxi had messaged her saying that Xu Nuo had revealed there were only two bombs. She immediately understood that these three bombs were all there were.

Xu Nuo had said two to mislead them. Knowing there were only two, people would relax their vigilance after finding them and wouldn’t consider a third bomb at the scene, inevitably leading to a major accident tonight. Xu Nuo’s plan was ingenious, but he hadn’t expected Shen Qinglan to find all three bombs ahead of time.

When Shen Qinglan returned to the tenth floor of the hospital ward, Fu Hengyi was discussing the removal of the last wire with a bomb disposal expert. The three bombs installed by Xu Nuo were each more difficult to defuse and more powerful than the last, especially the one on the tenth floor, which could blow the entire building into two sections if detonated.

Fu Hengyi’s expression was solemn. Seeing Shen Qinglan return, he glanced at her. Shen Qinglan spoke up, "This is the last one."

Fu Hengyi immediately understood, nodded, and continued focusing on the bomb, which now displayed only three minutes remaining on its timer.

Dean Chen happened to be in another building performing a complex surgery today and hadn’t left the operating room until after midnight. Just as he was about to rest in his office, he heard the outside commotion. Wondering what had happened, he then heard the sound of sirens.

His complexion changed, and he hurried outside, only to hear that the corridors were crowded with people panicking and scrambling. Dean Chen grabbed a doctor, "What happened?"

The doctor, initially irate from being grabbed, recognized his superior and quickly said, "Dean, bombs were found in the maternity building."

"Bombs!" Dean Chen stood shocked, his face incredulous. The doctor pulled at him, "Dean, we need to leave. It’s dangerous here."

Dean Chen was pulled along, still unable to react, until they ran out of the building. That’s when he snapped out of his shock, turned, and ran towards the maternity building.

Their location was a maternity hospital, and the maternity ward building had the most people. Moreover, he hadn’t forgotten that Shen Qinglan was still staying there.

The elevators were already full, so Dean Chen took the stairs, which were filled with people frantically trying to escape. It was with great difficulty that he reached the tenth floor, breathless and gasping for air. He didn’t have time to rest and ran towards Shen Qinglan’s ward, but on his way, he saw several police officers gathered around the bathroom.

Dean Chen approached but was stopped by the police, "This area is dangerous, please go down immediately," the officer scolded.

"I am the dean of this hospital, let me through, I have a duty to tend to my hospital and patients."

"Even if you’re the dean, you must go down," the police officer insisted, dismissing him during this critical time.

Hearing the commotion outside, Shen Qinglan came out and saw Dean Chen. She said, "Dean Chen, there’s a bomb here, it’s very dangerous. You should go down and organize the evacuation."

Dean Chen had come specifically for her. Hearing her words, he immediately said, "Mrs. Fu, please leave with me." The difficulty surrounding Shen Qinglan’s delivery had already been tough enough to explain to the Shen Family. Just when this important person was about to be discharged tomorrow, another unexpected event had occurred. Dean Chen felt like crying tears of frustration, thinking his time as dean was truly over.

Fu Hengyi was here, so naturally, Shen Qinglan wouldn’t leave. "Dean Chen, I’ll stay here, you need to leave this place immediately."

"Mrs. Fu, this place is too dangerous. Please leave with me immediately," Dean Chen said, feeling a surge of resentment towards Shen Qinglan. Did this young miss even realize what time it was? To still be lingering around amidst chaos, was this a scene she should be in?

Shen Qinglan glanced at the police, who immediately understood and forcibly took Dean Chen away. Shen Qinglan then turned and went inside.

"Commander Fu, I think we should cut the red wire," the bomb disposal expert said. The bomb appeared to be the latest international model on the outside, but upon opening it, they discovered it had been tampered with. If it hadn’t been meddled with, he would have known what to do. Now, he wasn’t sure.

In just a few minutes, fine sweat beaded on the bomb disposal expert’s forehead, especially when he saw the timer drop from one minute to fifty-nine seconds, his hand tightening around the scissors.

Fu Hengyi also wore a grave expression. He looked at Shen Qinglan, "Qinglan, what do you think?"

Shen Qinglan’s gaze fixed tightly on the three wires. After a few seconds, she spoke, "Cut both the red and black wires simultaneously."

"You should only need to cut one, cutting two will cause an explosion," the expert instinctively said, but saw Fu Hengyi’s lips curl up, "All right, I’ll listen to you."

The expert’s cold sweat ran freely, disbelievingly looking at Fu Hengyi, "Commander Fu!"

"I trust her," Fu Hengyi said, then picked up the scissors and cut without hesitation.

"Beep—" After the sound, it suddenly stopped, and the display froze at 10 seconds.

The expert stared blankly at the red digits, not moving until Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi had already left. He then wiped the sweat from his forehead; a gust of cold wind made his back chill, and reaching back, he discovered his shirt was drenched with sweat.

"Weren’t you afraid I would misjudge?" Shen Qinglan asked Fu Hengyi.

Fu Hengyi smiled, "I trust you, and my judgment was the same as yours at the time."

Shen Qinglan pursed her lips, "What if it hadn’t been?"

"I would have listened to you," Fu Hengyi said without hesitation.

"You really aren’t afraid of me making a mistake," Shen Qinglan remarked.

Fu Hengyi gripped her hand tightly, "It’s your instinct. I trust it."

Shen Qinglan smiled, "Hmm, Fu Hengyi, you’re really lucky. Of all the skills I excelled in, bomb disposal happened to be one of them."

Hearing this, Fu Hengyi felt a surge of pain, just thinking about Shen Qinglan’s past made his heart ache, perhaps her casual tone made it hurt even more.

"Let’s go, we need to pick up our son," Shen Qinglan noticed Fu Hengyi was emotionally upset and quickly changed the topic.

When they reached outside the hospital, the space was already crowded with people including police, patients, doctors, and nurses, even reporters were there.

Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi made their way through the crowd to the outside, where Cissily was waiting in the car. As they approached, Shen Qinglan heard the loud cries of a baby, heart-wrenching and intense.

She quickened her steps and hurried over, opening the back door to see Cissily holding the child, sweating from anxiety, while little Anan was bawling, his cheeks bright red.
