Chapter 353: 355. Shen Junze’s Regret (5 Updates)

"Qinglan," Lu Yaqin said awkwardly, "I came to see you today, I want to talk to you."

Shen Qinglan put down her chopsticks and went to the living room. On the dining table, only Fu Hengyi was left, and he too had lost the appetite to eat.

In the living room, Shen Qinglan looked at Lu Yaqin, who appeared uneasy, and spoke, "Aunt, you said you needed to see me? Go ahead."

Lu Yaqin hesitated and then said, "Qinglan, Jun Ze has gone missing, I was hoping you could help me find him."

Hearing this, Shen Qinglan slightly raised her eyebrows, "Aunt, Shen Junze is an adult, where he goes is his freedom, I have no right to interfere. Moreover, my relationship with him isn’t good. It doesn’t seem appropriate for you to ask me to find him."

Lu Yaqin looked distressed, "Aunt knows she is putting you in a difficult position, but really, I am out of options. I don’t know anyone in Beijing, and even if I wanted to find someone to help, I wouldn’t know where to start. Jun Ze has made mistakes before, and I was ashamed to even come to you, but..."

A hint of amusement flashed in Shen Qinglan’s eyes. She found her aunt quite interesting—always apologizing with her words, but when need be, she still came for help, always with the same reasons. Shen Qinglan was genuinely curious if it was purely because her aunt didn’t know anyone else in Beijing that she kept pestering her.

Fu Hengyi wheeled over, overhearing Lu Yaqin’s words, he spoke firmly, "Aunt, Qinglan is over five months pregnant now, and with the weather like this, and Beijing being so vast, where do you expect her to go looking for him? You are worried for your son, but I am worried for my wife."

Fu Hengyi’s words didn’t leave any face for Lu Yaqin, whose complexion turned from green to pale as she stutteringly replied, "Qinglan knows many people in Beijing, I thought..."

Fu Hengyi cut her off, "Even so, Qinglan is under no obligation to find someone for you. Shen Junze is an adult, doesn’t he know what he should or shouldn’t do?"

Fu Hengyi had always been dissatisfied with Shen Junze, who had nearly caused Shen Qinglan to miscarry last time, a memory he still held onto. At that time, he disagreed with Shen Junyu’s acquisition of the Shen Family business just to give Jun Ze a tougher lesson instead of babysitting him every time he needed help.

Although Shen Qinglan didn’t say anything, she tacitly agreed with Fu Hengyi, "Aunt, perhaps Jun Ze just went out to have some fun. He’ll probably be back in a couple of days."

The sorrow in Lu Yaqin’s heart had nowhere to go. She wanted to say this time was different, but facing Fu Hengyi’s cold expression, she ultimately didn’t voice her concerns. Standing up, she said, "Then I’ll leave now, sorry for disturbing you."

Her back slightly bent as if carrying a heavy burden, her entire demeanor exuded loneliness. Shen Qinglan watched quietly with a fleeting look in her eyes but remained silent until Lu Yaqin had left. Then, she turned to Fu Hengyi.

FU Hengyi looked at her with a resigned expression, "I know, I’ll find out what’s really going on."

Shen Qinglan smiled faintly, the person who understood her best was still Fu Hengyi, "As long as he’s not in any life-threatening danger, let it be."

Fu Hengyi nodded, "Yeah, I know."

Meanwhile, Shen Junze wasn’t actually far away; he’d just gone to a bar to drown his sorrows. Recently, the company had fallen into the hands of Lu Jincai, and Jun Ze had tried everything to salvage it, even traveling to M country to seek Lawyer Xiao’s help. However, Lawyer Xiao refused unless Shen Qinglan personally made the request to hand over the stock proxy agreement.

He had also approached the company’s shareholders one by one, but regrettably, Lu Jincai had already bought them over. They spoke nice words to his face but were unwilling to genuinely help him.

He had thought of asking his uncle for help one last time, considering his uncle had no children and had always treated him kindly, thinking he would need him in his old age. But to his shock, when the door opened, it was a woman, and there was Lu Jincai, sitting on the sofa playing with a child, whom the child called ’daddy.’

That’s when Shen Junze realized that Lu Jincai not only had children but two of them, and his scheming to take over his company was all to provide for his children.

Thinking back on the days after his return to the country, from his father’s death to being despised by the entire Shen Family was just a matter of months. He had gone from the heir of the Shen Family to someone with nothing, now even a dog on the street would disdain him.

He laughed bitterly, recalling how his father had tried everything to entrust him to Shen Qinglan on his deathbed. Shen Junze’s heart felt bitterer than swallowing bile, "Dad, did you already know about uncle... Lu Jincai’s true nature? Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"

He took a sip of alcohol but coughed violently due to drinking too quickly, his tears and snot running. After a long bout of coughing, he stopped and looked at the ceiling, muttering, "I’m sorry, I was wrong."

Fu Hengyi made a call to a friend, and the next day, the friend finally gave Fu Hengyi a response. Shen Qinglan raised an eyebrow, "Getting drunk at the bar?"

Fu Hengyi nodded, "Apparently, he does it every night, completely wasted."

Shen Qinglan scoffed, "That’s all the worth he has."

Seeing that Shen Qinglan had no intention of intervening, Fu Hengyi spoke up, "I’ve already had someone send the address to your second aunt; the rest is out of our hands."

"Right, I know. I wasn’t planning on cleaning up his mess anyway."

Lu Yaqin, knowing her son was at the bar, rushed over immediately. However, the bar hadn’t opened for business yet, so she could only stand at the entrance and wait.

As night fell, Shen Junze’s figure appeared at the entrance of the bar on time. Lu Yaqin immediately ran up to him and embraced him, "Jun Ze, come home with Mom."

Shen Junze hadn’t eaten properly for days, only drinking, and his body was weak. When Lu Yaqin embraced him, he staggered backward several steps before he managed to steady himself. He pushed Lu Yaqin away, his expression irritable, "Mom, what are you doing!"

Lu Yaqin was stunned by her son’s shouting, "Jun Ze, it’s Mom!"

"I know you’re my mom. What do you want from me?"

Shen Junze reeked of alcohol and his clothes, not changed for days, were all wrinkled. With a stubbly chin and dark circles under his eyes, he looked utterly haggard—not at all like a nineteen-year-old, but rather like an old man at the end of his days.

Lu Yaqin, seeing her son like this, couldn’t express how heartbroken she felt, "Jun Ze, come home with me. You can’t go on like this."

Shen Junze gave a hollow laugh, "Go on like what? Mom, go home to do what? What can I do?"

"You go home and sleep well, then go to school. Don’t think about the company anymore, just act as if you never owned it. Once you graduate from university, find a stable job. As long as you behave, your uncle surely won’t ignore us."

Shen Junze looked at his mother, who seemed even more naïve than him, and suddenly burst out laughing crazily, frightening Lu Yaqin so much—she only had this one son. If Shen Junze went mad, she wouldn’t be able to carry on living.

"Jun Ze, what’s the matter with you? Don’t scare Mom, Jun Ze!"

Having laughed enough, Shen Junze stopped and stared steadily at Lu Yaqin who felt even more frightened, "Jun Ze, what’s wrong with you?"

Shen Junze spoke, "Mom, did Dad regret marrying you before he died?"

Lu Yaqin was startled, not understanding why Shen Junze would say such a thing. Shen Junze smiled, "If I were Dad, I would definitely regret marrying you, having such a son. I now understand why Grandpa didn’t like me—it’s not because I was born to you but because there isn’t a trace of the Shen Family in me. I’m just an idiot, a fool. I can’t distinguish good from bad. I deserve to end up like this."

Shen Junze, saying this, suddenly slapped his own face hard, not holding back at all. The slapping sounds were so painful for Lu Yaqin, it was as if someone was gouging her heart out with a knife!

"Jun Ze, stop hitting yourself, can’t we just talk nicely?" Lu Yaqin tried to stop Shen Junze from hurting himself, but she couldn’t match his strength.

"Mom, I really want to die now. Can you just leave me alone? Let me be destroyed, ok?" Shen Junze’s expression was ferocious, his emotions extremely agitated.

Lu Yaqin held her son tightly, not daring to let go, "Jun Ze, don’t talk nonsense. If you die, how do you expect Mom to live? Dad has already left, and Mom has only you now."

Shen Junze let Lu Yaqin hold him without struggling. His hands hung limply, his head bowed, his voice very low, "Mom, I regret it."

Lu Yaqin’s body shuddered, releasing Shen Junze, and stared at him dazedly, "Jun Ze."

"Mom, I regret not trusting Dad. In this world, only Dad truly loved me. But I always misunderstood him, making him die uneasy. Mom, Dad got such a son in his life, it’s truly his bad luck." His voice was somber and despondent.

Lu Yaqin’s heart ached sharply, "Jun Ze, saying that is like gouging Mom’s heart!"

Shen Junze suddenly burst into tears, "Mom, I regret it. I know I was wrong, I really do. But it’s too late now!"

Lu Yaqin cried too, holding him, "Jun Ze, it’s Mom’s fault, Mom is bad, Mom didn’t raise you well, it’s all Mom’s fault. Please don’t torture Mom like this, Mom can’t take it, really."

Shen Junze sobbed like a child.
