Chapter 352: 354. Qin Yan’s Purpose (4 more Chapters)
Zhao Jiaqing arrived at the designated coffee shop when Qin Yan was already there, dressed in a cheongsam. From her appearance, she didn’t look like a woman over fifty at all. On the other hand, Zhao Jiaqing, due to Ya Xi’s affair, was physically and mentally exhausted. Although she was actually a few years younger than Qin Yan, she looked much older.
She sat down opposite Qin Yan, "I’m here, what do you want to talk about?" Zhao Jiaqing got straight to the point.
Qin Yan smiled, "I’ve ordered you a cup of coffee, let’s talk slowly."
"Qin Yan, if you have something to say just say it, we’re not close enough to sit down and have coffee together."
Qin Yan took a sip of her coffee and slowly set it down, "Don’t rush, I will definitely tell you what I need to, we’ve known each other for over twenty years now, haven’t we? The first time I saw you was at your wedding with Anbang. At that time, you were the daughter of the Zhao Family, and Anbang was the eldest grandson of the Yan Family. Everyone said you two were a match made in heaven, but I could only stand in the corner and watch you quietly accept everyone’s blessings. Do you know how I felt then?"
Zhao Jiaqing looked at her, her expression impatient. Qin Yan continued with a smile, "I know you hate me, just as I hate you. You hated me for taking Anbang’s heart, I hated you for stealing the man and the Young Mistress title of the Yan Family. For over twenty years, we’ve both been revolving around a man, and now the situation seems like a repeat of what happened more than twenty years ago, only this time, the title of Mrs. Yan belongs to me."
Zhao Jiaqing’s expression turned unpleasant, "Now that Yan Anbang already belongs to you, why are you bringing this up again? If you called me here today to reminisce, then I’m very busy." Zhao Jiaqing stood up to leave.
Qin Yan suddenly spoke, her face full of pleading, "I’m here to ask you to drop the lawsuit. Anbang was wrong to get violent that day, but there is an old saying, ’A single night as husband and wife gives rise to a hundred days of grace,’ not to mention that you were a couple for over twenty years with two children. For Ya Xi and Sheng Yu’s sake, you can’t personally send Anbang to prison."
This abrupt change of tone caught Zhao Jiaqing off guard. She said coldly, "Qin Yan, what exactly do you want to do?"
"Zhao Jiaqing, I know you hate me in your heart. You must think I destroyed your relationship with Anbang. But I swear on my life, Anbang and I only got together after your divorce, and I had no improper relationship with him before then. I beg you, for the sake of the past and the children, please let Anbang go. If you sue him, his career is truly over." Qin Yan pleaded bitterly.
Zhao Jiaqing’s face turned dark as she looked coldly at Qin Yan, "Since Yan Anbang dared to lay hands on me, he should have been prepared for the consequences. Whatever you say won’t change the matter."
Qin Yan’s gaze dropped behind Zhao Jiaqing, and a glimmer of dark light flickered rapidly in her eyes. She suddenly grabbed Zhao Jiaqing’s arm and knelt down, "Zhao Jiaqing, I beg you, please spare Anbang. As long as you are willing to let him go, I’m willing to do anything, even if it means leaving him and never seeing him again for the rest of my life."
Zhao Jiaqing tried to pull her hand away from Qin Yan without success, "Qin Yan, let me go. What are you doing?"
Qin Yan persisted, pleading sorrowfully, "Zhao Jiaqing, I beg you, I’ll return Anbang to you right away, please drop the lawsuit, will you?"
But before Zhao Jiaqing could react, Yan Anbang appeared and pulled Qin Yan up from the ground, "Yanyan, what are you doing? If she wants to sue, let her sue. At worst, I’ll go to jail. I’m not afraid."
Qin Yan’s face was full of bitterness, "No, Anbang, you can’t go to jail. You’ve worked so hard for so many years to get to where you are today. How could you give up so easily? I won’t let you ruin your future over this."
Qin Yan attempted to plead with Zhao Jiaqing again, but Yan Anbang held her down tight, glaring at Zhao Jiaqing, "Go ahead and sue if you want, I’ll wait for you. I don’t regret what happened in the past, not for a second!"
Zhao Jiaqing’s eyes widened, staring at Yan Anbang, "Ya Xi is your own daughter, and yet you say you have no regrets. Yan Anbang, you’re something. I’ll see you in court."
Zhao Jiaqing grabbed her bag and left. Yan Anbang turned to Qin Yan with a displeased look, "I’ve told you before, this has nothing to do with you, leave it to me to handle. What are you doing seeking her out now?"
Qin Yan’s voice was full of grievance, "I just wanted her to withdraw the lawsuit. You’ve worked so hard to achieve what you have today, and I can’t bear to see Zhao Jiaqing destroy it. Moreover, if we get down to it, it all started because of me. If I hadn’t returned, none of this would have happened. You and her would still be husband and wife with a happy family. I destroyed it all, Anbang, I’m sorry."
Qin Yan was in tears. The bit of dissatisfaction Yan Anbang had felt due to her acting on her own dissipated completely, and he comforted her softly, "I know you did it for me, but don’t ever talk about leaving me again. I don’t want to hear it, nor am I willing to hear it. We’ve finally come together after so much difficulty; I don’t want to be apart from you again. I’m getting old and can’t afford the turmoil."
"Anbang, I don’t want to either, but what should we do? Zhao Jiaqing is determined to sue you, I..."
"Alright, let’s not talk about this anymore," said Yan Anbang, yet he didn’t notice the high, malicious smile forming on Qin Yan’s lips as she buried her face in his chest.
Zhao Jiaqing knew she had been played by Qin Yan. The blame was on her for caring too much about Ya Xi; she couldn’t stand idly by when it came to Ya Xi. But what was Qin Yan’s purpose in doing this? Was it to deepen Anbang’s misunderstanding toward her, to prevent any chance of reconciling with him?
Zhao Jiaqing couldn’t figure it out, but soon she understood Qin Yan’s intentions. That evening, a post suddenly went viral online casting Zhao Jiaqing in a negative light, directly and indirectly accusing her of being unforgiving and heartless towards her ex-husband, making his current wife kneel and apologize, insulting her dignity.
The accompanying photo was of the scene at the cafe earlier that day.
Seeing this post, Zhao Jiaqing understood Qin Yan’s scheme. So, she had been waiting for her there.
She looked at the comments uniformly favoring Qin Yan, and if anyone said there wasn’t a troll army hired by Qin Yan, she wouldn’t believe it if they killed her.
At the Yan Family, Qin Yan handed her tablet over to Yan Anbang, "Anbang, look, public opinion is gradually shifting in your favor."
Yan Anbang glanced at the news, "Did you have someone write this?"
Qin Yan’s expression stiffened, "It was me, but Anbang, I did it totally for your sake, if you are angry I can have them pull it immediately."
Yan Anbang waved his hand, "Forget it, just leave it be." Deep down, he also didn’t want his career impacted by Zhao Jiaqing. Although he didn’t approve of what Qin Yan did, he could still turn a blind eye.
Zhao Jiaqing tossed her phone aside with a cold laugh, thinking they shouldn’t assume she would be scared off like that.
The next morning, Zhao Jiaqing’s lawyer filed a lawsuit against Yan Anbang.

Shen Qinglan looked at the news from Nancheng, and her heart was somewhat worried for Ya Xi, so much so that she didn’t even notice the paint from her brush dripping onto the canvas. Fu Hengyi wheeled over,
"Still worried about Ya Xi?" Fu Hengyi asked.
Shen Qinglan nodded, "I don’t know how she’s doing?"
"Why not give her a call if you’re so worried?"
Shen Qinglan picked up the paintbrush again, frowning at the ruined painting, "I’m not fit to be too involved in her life, Fu Hengyi, I would be scared."
Fu Hengyi chuckled, "Qinglan, this isn’t like the you I know at all."
Shen Qinglan sighed softly, looking at her pregnant belly, "I guess it’s because there seems to be a ball tucked away in there."
Fu Hengyi also looked at her belly, thoughtful, "Then it seems you’re truly carrying a daughter; only ladies are so sentimental."
Shen Qinglan: ... Glancing at Mr. Fu, who had become obsessively fixated on the thought of a daughter, Shen Qinglan silently set down the brush, "I’m tired; I’ll take a nap."
Fu Hengyi smiled gently, "Yeah, go ahead." Sleeping was good; one wouldn’t have so many wild thoughts while asleep.
Shen Qinglan slept a long sleep, from the late afternoon until the sun set. If it hadn’t been for Fu Hengyi’s worry that sleeping too much might affect her night rest, Shen Qinglan might have continued sleeping.
"What time is it?" Shen Qinglan asked.
Fu Hengyi reported a number, and Shen Qinglan stretched, her whole body like a lazy cat.
Fu Hengyi watched her with a full smile in his eyes, "Get up; it’s just in time for dinner."
Shen Qinglan nodded and briskly climbed out of bed.
While they were having dinner, the doorbell rang at home. Aunt Zhao went to open the door, and her face didn’t look good as she saw who was coming in.
Old Sir Fu put down his chopsticks and said indifferently, "Qinglan, Grandpa is full; you and Hengyi take your time eating."
The smile on Shen Qinglan’s face also faded, looking at the visitor, she spoke faintly, "Second Aunt."
Lu Yaqin’s expression was awkward; she knew that the Fu Family liked her even less, and if possible, she wouldn’t have wanted to come to the Fu Family’s house and be a nuisance, but there was no help for it, she had an unavoidable reason for coming today.
