Chapter 30: 30. A Solo Journey (Second Update)

Chen Qingtian introduced Wu Qian to a completely different world, one she had never dared to imagine before. Spending over a thousand on a single meal was common; buying clothes meant never looking at the price, only at preferences, and she could buy luxury brand cosmetics she had never even heard of before...

Often, the cost of a single piece of clothing required her to work for an entire month, and even that might not be enough.

Although Chen Qingtian was a second-generation wealthy youth with considerable family assets, in a place like Beijing, filled with people of status and power, it was far from enough. Yet, being an only child with doting parents, he was used to spending money extravagantly, and to him, spending a little money to please a woman he was currently interested in was a worthwhile deal.

Chen Qingtian, with Wu Qian’s blushing face in his embrace, headed toward his sports car.

That night, Wu Qian didn’t return to the dormitory.

The next day, Old Sir Fu indeed called Shen Qinglan, asking when she would come home for a meal. Shen Qinglan, thinking she had no classes in the afternoon, decided to head back to the compound at noon.

Since she was going back, it was impossible not to return home. So Shen Qinglan first returned to the Shen Family. Besides Old Sir Shen, no one else was home, which suited Shen Qinglan just fine.

"Grandpa, I’m back," Shen Qinglan greeted Old Sir Shen.

"Why did you come back at noon today? No classes in the afternoon?" Old Sir Shen smiled at his granddaughter. Since his wife passed away, he had spent more time tending to his flowers and plants.

"Grandpa Fu asked me to come home for a meal," Shen Qinglan answered honestly.

Old Sir Shen gave his granddaughter a look that left Shen Qinglan puzzled.

"Why are you still calling him Grandpa Fu?"

Shen Qinglan realized, "It’s just because I’m in front of you. Grandpa, the day after tomorrow I plan to go on a trip, and I might be away for quite a while."

Shen Qinglan hadn’t forgotten the main reason she returned.

"Going on a trip is good. Do you have enough money? I’ll give you a card later," Old Sir Shen didn’t ask where his granddaughter was going.

"No need, I have money. Fu Hengyi gave me a card before he left, and my parents usually give me some as well." Shen Qinglan wasn’t someone who talked much, but with close ones, she always showed more patience.

Hearing this, Old Sir Shen said nothing more, checking the time and urging his granddaughter to go to the Fu Family. After all, she was married now. Although there had been no wedding, the certificate had been obtained, and she was now part of their Fu Family.

*Sigh!*

Old Sir Shen sighed. His well-raised granddaughter had been swept away by Fu Hengyi.

"Qinglan dear, come in quickly, it’s hot outside." Just as she reached the Fu Family’s door, she saw Old Sir Fu standing there.

Shen Qinglan quickened her pace, "Grandpa... why are you not waiting inside?"

"I just came out and happened to meet you. I’ve asked Xiao Zhao to make the dishes you like; they’re just ready."

Old Sir Fu’s face broke into a wide smile like a blooming chrysanthemum. Old Sir Shen’s stubborn old head had initially disagreed, but now Qinglan was part of their Fu Family.

Old Sir Fu deeply felt that Fu Hengyi had finally done something right.

Aunt Zhao was placing the last dish on the table, "Qinglan’s back, just in time for the meal. Today there’s the crab-stuffed orange you like. Mr. Fu especially ordered it from Yangcheng Lake, and it’s very plump."

Shen Qinglan slightly curved her lips, "Thank you, Aunt Zhao, thank you, Grandpa."

Shen Qinglan used to be a frequent visitor to the Fu Family and often had meals there. Her tastes were well known to the Fu Family.

Old Sir Fu’s eyes widened, "What are you thanking for? No need to stand on ceremony with family."

Shen Qinglan smiled slightly, momentarily forgetting that she had married Fu Hengyi.

Though only two people were dining, it was still warm and joyful. Shen Qinglan didn’t talk much, mostly listening to Old Sir Fu. Occasionally, she would say a few words, and the two chatted pleasantly.

After the meal, Shen Qinglan told Old Sir Fu about her plan to travel for a while. Old Sir Fu didn’t object; for young people, traveling more was a good thing.

Thus, after the meal, Shen Qinglan returned first to the apartment she shared with Fu Hengyi at Jiangxin Garden to pack a couple of clothes, then headed back to her own apartment at Shangya Garden.

The apartment remained as it was before she left. Shi Feng likely had it cleaned before leaving, leaving no trace. However, since it hadn’t been lived in for a while, a thin layer of dust covered the table. She called a cleaning service to tidy up.

On the dining table, there was a note with a string of numbers; it was obvious whose number it was.

Shen Qinglan glanced at it casually and then threw the paper into the trash.

She went to the room Shi Feng thought was a study. It was actually an art studio, with several completed sketches randomly placed on the walls and the floor.

In the center of the room was an easel, surrounded by various tools and paints.

Shen Qinglan walked to a corner, picked up a sketchbook and a portable easel, and fetched a backpack, into which she packed the necessary items one by one.

She didn’t wait for the cleaning staff to arrive but handed the key to the security guard and left with a large backpack on her back.
