Chapter 285: 285. The Police Came to the Door (7 Updates)

Jin Enxi’s gaze turned sharp as she looked at Lin Hao, "What man, what’s his name?"

"I don’t know what he looks like, I only know his name is Shi Jiangtao, and it was he who took the initiative to contact me, offering to help me get my revenge."

"If you are all in this together, then how could you possibly not know what he looks like?" Jin Enxi spoke coldly, "I advise you to be honest right now."

"I really don’t know, we always kept in touch over the phone. I gave him money, and he did the work for me."

"Where is this person now?" Shen Qinglan asked.

Lin Hao shook his head, "I don’t know, I haven’t been able to contact him for the past few days. When I call his phone, it’s always switched off, and later it just turned into an invalid number. If it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have come here in person."

It was because he couldn’t reach Shi Jiangtao that Lin Hao thought of taking matters into his own hands, but who knew he would mess up. Shi Jiangtao had done it so many times without a hitch, even the police couldn’t trace anything back to him. But when Lin Hao tried, he was caught.

Shen Qinglan didn’t know what was going through Lin Hao’s mind, but if she had known, she would have definitely sneered at him. Others were professionals, but were you, Lin Hao?

"Give me his mobile number," Jin Enxi demanded.

"It’s in my phone, which is in my pants pocket," Lin Hao confessed.

Jin Enxi took out the phone, dialed the number Lin Hao provided, and sure enough, it was indeed an invalid number. She memorized the number silently, returned the phone to Lin Hao, and then, under Lin Hao’s fearful gaze, picked up the ashtray from the table and smashed it onto Lin Hao’s head.

Lin Hao’s head was seeing stars before darkness engulfed him, and he fainted.

Jin Enxi looked down at Lin Hao on the floor, "An, should we take him to the police station now?"

Shen Qinglan nodded her head, "He knows too little, let the police handle him."

"But what if he talks about us to the police?" According to her, such scum should be dealt with directly.

"It’s fine," Shen Qinglan said indifferently, even if Lin Hao did talk, someone would have to believe him.

That very night, a burlap sack was left at the entrance of the police station. A police officer noticed it, opened it up, and found a person inside, a wanted criminal at that. After reviewing the surveillance footage from the station’s entrance, they saw a man drop it off, but the man’s face was obscured by a large pair of sunglasses, making it impossible to identify him.

The next day was Saturday and Shen Junyu, fortunately not having to work, spent his time at the Fu Family home with Shen Qinglan.

Shen Qinglan looked disdainfully at the person sprawled on the couch, "Brother, why don’t you go over to Sister Xi Yao’s to pay your respects on the weekend? Why waste your time here?"

Although she spoke this way, there was a hint of pity deep in her eyes. Her brother had always been a gentleman, carrying the demeanor of a noble’s son wherever he went. It was rare to see him disregard his image and sprawl on the couch like this, which suggested he must be exhausted from recent events.

Shen Junyu glared back at her, his eyes clearly conveying, "You’ve hurt me." "I’m here to see my little nephew. How can that be called wasting time? Besides, Xiyao flew to F country last night; she’s not even in Beijing now."

"Your little nephew is currently just the size of a soybean embryo. What can you see?"

"Then, can’t I come see Grandpa Fu?" Shen Junyu said, turning to give a glance at Old Sir Fu, who was leisurely sipping tea. Upon hearing this, Old Sir Fu chuckled, "Welcome, welcome. I am happy whenever you visit."

Shen Qinglan handed a blanket to Shen Junyu, "I brewed this Calming Tea especially for you."

A look of joy crossed Shen Junyu’s face as he sat up and took a sip of the tea, "Grandpa Fu, I must say, Lanlan’s tea brewing skills have truly improved."

Old Sir Fu was quite proud, "Of course, haven’t you seen who taught her those skills?"

Both old gentlemen were tea enthusiasts, and Shen Qinglan’s tea ceremony skills had been personally taught by them.

They were chatting when the doorbell rang. Aunt Zhao went to answer it, and soon she reappeared in the living room with two police officers following her.

Thinking one of the officers took the lead, "Old Sir Fu, good day to you. Sorry for bothering you over the weekend, but we have some questions for Mrs. Shen... Mrs. Fu," he said, glancing at Shen Qinglan.

The smile on Old Sir Fu’s face vanished, and even Shen Junyu had reverted to his usual demeanor of courteous yet indifferent formality in the presence of strangers. Shen Qinglan remained composed, though she had already guessed the purpose of their visit, and cooperatively spoke up, "I don’t know what the officers would like to ask me, but please feel free to tell me how I can be of assistance."

Beijing’s police colleagues had a very favorable impression of Shen Qinglan. Not to mention the incident from the previous year where she apprehended a criminal in a shopping mall, just this year alone, she cooperated with the police to crack a major child trafficking case. Although this matter wasn’t publicly disclosed, the police department was more or less aware of it.

"Please have a seat, officers. Aunt Zhao, serve tea to our guests," Old Sir Fu said cordially.

The cordial attitude of the Fu Family put the initially anxious police officers somewhat at ease. "Thank you, Old Sir Fu. We just have a few questions for Mrs. Fu, and it won’t take too much of your time," they said.

Old Sir Fu smiled, "Then please sit down and talk. It’s tiring to stand, and you’re still working on such a big weekend. It’s hard. Have a cup of tea first."

The two officers were deeply touched. Old Sir Fu was a renowned founding general with countless military achievements to his name, and now he was speaking to them with such kindness—it was a pleasant surprise.

"I’m not sure what you would like to know, but I will certainly cooperate," Shen Qinglan said calmly.

The senior officer began, "Mrs. Fu, you are aware of Lin Hao, the heir to the Lin Group, aren’t you?"

Shen Qinglan nodded, "I know him. I’ve even had a bit of a dispute with him before, but it’s been a long time since I last saw him. What’s happened to him?" she asked, feigning ignorance.

The senior officer explained, "Recently, Lin Hao committed a crime and fled. We’ve been issuing a warrant for his arrest. Last night, someone dumped him in front of the police station. When he woke up, he said it was Mrs. Fu who had ordered people to capture him and that he had been imprisoned and tortured."

"Officers, I think there might be a mistake. My sister has been staying at home recently for her pregnancy care. How could she possibly have ordered such a thing?" Shen Junyu said, his tone slightly dissatisfied.

The younger officer replied, "We also don’t believe such a claim. After all, we are aware of Mrs. Fu’s character. This is just a procedural matter, so Mr. Shen need not be too anxious."

Hearing this, Shen Junyu gave an apologetic smile, "I apologize, I was just a little too nervous. Lin Hao had a bit of a grudge against my sister Lanlan before, and like a battlefield, the mall is contested territory. No doubt Lin Hao must blame our family for the fortunes of the Lin Group. It’s understandable that he harbors deep misunderstandings against my sister and may have made baseless statements."

"Of course, so we’re just here to verify with Mrs. Fu, nothing more," the senior officer said cordially.

"Since that’s the case, Qinglan, why don’t you talk with the officers? After all, it’s part of their job," Old Sir Fu said warmly, without any intention of leaving the room.

The officers didn’t mind and asked Shen Qinglan about her activities over the past few days, to which she carefully responded.

Having asked all they needed, the officers took their leave. "Thank you very much for your cooperation, Mrs. Fu. We’re truly sorry for disturbing your rest on such a big weekend," they said.

Shen Qinglan gave a slight curve of her lips, "This is what we should do as good citizens. No need for such courtesy, officers."

"If only there were more people like Mrs. Fu, our job would be much easier. Congratulations, Mrs. Fu, on your upcoming motherhood," the younger officer said, recalling what Shen Junyu mentioned about her pregnancy.

There was a genuine smile in Shen Qinglan’s eyes, "Thank you, officers. Should you need any further cooperation from us in the future, please feel free to ask."

The officers expressed their thanks once again before leaving the courtyard.

Shen Junyu’s gaze darkened slightly, "Lin Hao is like a mad dog, just indiscriminately biting people."

Shen Qinglan laughed softly, "You already called him a mad dog; should we really take offense at a mad dog’s actions?"

This comment made Shen Junyu laugh.

Old Sir Fu, knowing the circumstances, wasn’t particularly concerned, but he was somewhat displeased with the police showing up on the weekend. "Qinglan, you just focus on your pregnancy care from now on. If they come again, leave it to Grandpa," he said.

"Grandpa, it was just a few questions, it’s nothing," Shen Qinglan said nonchalantly, yawning, "Grandpa, brother, I’m getting sleepy. I’m going to rest for a bit."

Old Sir Fu waved her off with a smile, "Go ahead, go ahead."

Ever since she became pregnant, Shen Qinglan needed to sleep for two hours every afternoon. If it weren’t for the police visit, she would have gone to rest earlier, which was another reason for Old Sir Fu’s displeasure.

"Jun Yu, it’s been a long time since you’ve played chess with Grandpa Fu. How about a game today?"

Shen Junyu smiled warmly, "Sure, but I am no match for you, so please show some mercy," he said.
