The Tycoon's Mysterious Darling Wife
Chapter 245. Fu Hengyi, I am an Assassin

Chapter 245: 245. Fu Hengyi, I am an Assassin

The window opened, and the sounds from the room poured into Shen Qinglan’s ears without obstruction. Her blood seemed to freeze at that moment. Even without seeing it, Shen Qinglan knew exactly what Ya Xi was enduring at the time. Her eyes reddened instantly as she snatched the gun from the waist of the man controlling her and without hesitation pulled the trigger. Several bursts of gunfire echoed, and bodies fell before her. The Eastern man hadn’t even reacted before Shen Qinglan had crippled his hands.

Shen Qinglan didn’t bother with him and entered the room, firing without looking. Several men didn’t even have time to put on their pants before they were robbed of life.

Ya Xi, hearing the gunfire, let out a scream and cowered in the corner, trembling all over. She was unclothed, her body covered with wounds.

Shen Qinglan felt as if someone had viciously stabbed her heart with a knife. She took a couple of steps toward Ya Xi, but before she could get close, Ya Xi began to scream hysterically, "Ahhhhhhh!"

Shen Qinglan halted, gazing at Ya Xi who shook like a frightened bird. In her eyes, a cold murderous intent filled Shen Qinglan, reminiscent of the time when Qin Mu was stabbed in the chest right before her eyes.

She took off her already tattered coat and, despite Ya Xi’s screams, draped it over her. Then she turned and left the room.

The recent gunfire had already attracted others. As Shen Qinglan stepped out of the room, she fired without looking, seizing the opportunity to grab the Eastern man from the ground and use him as a human shield while she began another round of frenzied shooting.

Fu Hengyi had just climbed through a window into the villa when he heard the intense gunfire. His expression changed, and Andre’s voice came through his earpiece, "Something seems to have happened here. We need to hurry up and find Qinglan."

Fu Hengyi didn’t respond to Andre and passed through the villa’s living room. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw several figures. He dodged behind curtains, witnessing them hurry into a room. Following them, he discovered an underground passage.

The gunfire was coming from below, and the trembling of the second hand on his watch grew more intense. His expression shifted slightly, Qinglan was below.

A great number of people lay before Shen Qinglan, the Eastern man used as a shield now a sieve of bullet holes, utterly dead.

She too had been hit by a bullet, non-fatal but hindering her movement. Yet she seemed unfazed by the pain, her demeanor as cold and detached as ever.

After expending the last cartridge, she tossed aside her gun and drew a dagger from nowhere. With a swift turn, the dagger flew from her hand, embedding in the chest of a would-be attacker. She moved quickly, pulling out the dagger, blood splattering her face. She might as well have felt nothing, her expression detached as she slit another man’s throat.

What Fu Hengyi saw upon dealing with a few men was just such a Shen Qinglan, impassively reaping lives one after another.

"Qinglan..." Fu Hengyi called out, and Shen Qinglan’s eyes quivered. She looked up, locking eyes with Fu Hengyi, her gaze still cold and unfazed as she drew the dagger across another man’s throat, blood spraying her anew.

Fu Hengyi didn’t have time to say more and immediately joined the fight.

The sound of gunfire, while drawing the men in black, also attracted Andre and others who were searching for Shen Qinglan. With their arrival, the pressure on Shen Qinglan and Fu Hengyi was greatly reduced.

Just as it seemed this group of black-clad men were about to be dealt with, Shen Qinglan returned to the room where Ya Xi was still curled up in the corner, hugging her head and trembling. Sensing someone approaching, her shaking turned more violent.

"Ya Xi," Shen Qinglan said gently, reaching out her hands to touch Ya Xi. But before her hands could reach Ya Xi, Ya Xi screamed at the top of her lungs, "Go away, don’t touch me, ahhh, don’t touch me, go away, go away."

Shen Qinglan forcibly turned her around, "Ya Xi, it’s me, Shen Qinglan."

"Ahhhh!" Ya Xi yelled frantically, shaking her head, screaming.

Shen Qinglan’s eyes were red-rimmed. It felt like her heart had been stabbed repeatedly. She embraced Ya Xi, "Ya Xi, it’s over; it’s all right now. Don’t be afraid; I’ll take you home. We’re going home."

As Ya Xi struggled violently, scratching at Shen Qinglan’s back, her fingers scraped across Shen Qinglan’s already injured body, reopening the wound that had stopped bleeding, causing fresh blood to stream down.

Shen Qinglan just held Ya Xi tightly, not letting her break free. Cissily, who had apparently entered at some point, swiftly knocked Ya Xi out with a karate chop and draped a coat over her, "An, it’s too dangerous here; we need to leave immediately."

Shen Qinglan was well aware that they had to leave first and foremost, so when Eden stepped forward to pick up Ya Xi, Shen Qinglan let go.

Fu Hengyi came over, pulled Shen Qinglan up from the ground, and she glanced at their clasped hands. Fu Hengyi’s were clean, in stark contrast with her own, which were covered in blood. She pulled her hand away, looked deeply into Fu Hengyi’s eyes, a hint of sorrow flashing in the depths before she turned to leave.

"Qinglan," Fu Hengyi called out.

"Let’s talk after we get out," Shen Qinglan said indifferently.

Fu Hengyi’s eyes darkened, and they quickly exited the villa. Andre and his team led the way, dealing with any assailants dressed in black as they encountered them. Fu Hengyi brought up the rear.

Due to the commotion they’d caused that night, there was no way to leave silently anymore, so they had to fight their way out.

Just before leaving, Shen Qinglan turned to Cissily, "Do you have a hand grenade?"

Cissily nodded, took a grenade from her backpack, and handed it to Shen Qinglan. Shen Qinglan pulled the pin and threw it into the distance while they all hurried toward the estate’s exit.

They had just made it out when the villa erupted in a massive explosion behind them, immediately reduced to ruins.

"Quickly," Fu Hengyi said as he observed the wound on Shen Qinglan’s shoulder, leading her to a jeep. Meng Liang quickly slid into the driver’s seat, and the vehicles left the scene, leaving only trails of exhaust.

"Boss, it looks like we’re too late," a voice said from a helicopter hovering above the estate, as a man stood beside another with delicate features.

Allen’s expression was grim as he looked down at the villa now turned to ash, and spoke coldly, "Take care of everyone down there." King dared to mess with his people, and they would pay the price.

"Understood," the man replied.

**

Fu Hengyi and Shen Qinglan sat in the back seat, his hand gripping hers tightly ever since they got into the car, no matter how hard she struggled to get free.

Ryan’s people had come to their support, and they did not return to KA’s base; instead, they directly boarded a plane arranged by Ryan. The destination was country Y.

On the plane, Eden looked at Shen Qinglan’s wound, still bleeding profusely, "An, I will remove the bullet now, but I don’t have any anesthesia, so you’re going to have to endure it."

Shen Qinglan was expressionless. She had not spoken a word since they had left the estate.

She nodded, and just as Eden was about to operate to remove the bullet after a simple disinfection, Mu Liancheng couldn’t help but speak up, "Sister-in-law, maybe it’s best to wait until we land." Without anesthesia, it was like live extraction of the bullet from her flesh, which not even a tough man could bear.

Eden looked coldly at Mu Liancheng, "If we don’t remove the bullet promptly, she’ll lose her hand."

Shen Qinglan shook her head, "Eden, start."

Fu Hengyi held her in his arms, placing his hand by her mouth, "If you can’t bear it, bite my hand."

He watched Eden nod, and after exchanging a glance with him, he began to remove the ZD.

Shen Qinglan let out a muffled groan, and her face turned pale in an instant. Fu Hengyi held her tightly, his thin lips pressed firmly together.

Apart from that initial muffled groan, Shen Qinglan did not utter a sound again; even Mu Liancheng and the others found it unbearable to watch and turned their heads away. Fu Hengyi’s eyes were very dark and heavy, as if his heart had been sliced open repeatedly with a knife.

Eden’s hands were decisive and quick, swiftly removing the ZD and then bandaging the wound. "An, your other injuries..."

"Leave them for now," Shen Qinglan said faintly.

Eden had his own residence in Country Y. After the plane landed at the airport, he took everyone back to his home in Country Y.

"An, I’ll tend to your wounds first," Eden spoke.

Shen Qinglan shook her head, "Don’t worry about me, check on Ya Xi first."

The most serious injury on Shen Qinglan’s body was actually a Q injury on her arm. Although they had managed a temporary fix on the plane, the conditions were limited, and it could be quite troublesome if the wound got infected.

"Let me take care of her injuries; you look after Ya Xi," Fu Hengyi said.

Eden glanced at Shen Qinglan’s expression, knowing there might be more between them left unsaid. Without objections, he handed some gauze and other items to Fu Hengyi before leaving.

Now, only Fu Hengyi and Shen Qinglan were left in the room. Without looking at Fu Hengyi, Shen Qinglan stood up and said, "I’m going to take a shower."

Fu Hengyi pulled her back abruptly, "You can’t get your wound wet right now."

Shen Qinglan glanced at the dirt covering her body and smiled indifferently, "It doesn’t matter."

Fu Hengyi had not missed the sight of her clothes soaked in dried blood, stiffening the fabric.

In the end, Shen Qinglan went to shower. While she was in the bath, Fu Hengyi quickly took the opportunity to shower in the adjacent guestroom’s bathroom.

When Shen Qinglan came out after her shower, her complexion was even paler than before.

She sat down by the bed. Fu Hengyi laid out alcohol, iodine, and medications, "Take off your clothes."

Shen Qinglan faltered slightly. Wrapped in a bathrobe, she hesitated to move. Fu Hengyi reached out and pulled down her bathrobe. When he saw the crisscrossed scars on her body, a surge of anger rose within him.

He took a deep breath, composed his expression, and picked up the alcohol to disinfect her wounds.

As the alcohol touched the wounds, it brought waves of stinging pain. Shen Qinglan furrowed her brows, remained silent, and did not even let out a peep.

A trace of rage flickered through Fu Hengyi’s eyes, "Shen Qinglan, if you’re in pain, you can shout out, call out, or even cry out. You don’t have to endure it like this."

At his words, Shen Qinglan’s lips tightened, but she did not respond. Instead, she asked, "Fu Hengyi, don’t you have anything else you want to ask me? After seeing me kill people today, don’t you have anything you want to say?"

Fu Hengyi placed the alcohol swab on the tray and crouched down, looking steadily into Shen Qinglan’s eyes, "What do you want to say?"

"Fu Hengyi, I am an assassin!" Shen Qinglan said, gazing into Fu Hengyi’s eyes word by word, stretching her hand out in front of him, "These hands have killed many people. Just today, they heartlessly reaped many lives. They are stained with countless amounts of blood and can never be cleaned."

"Fu Hengyi, did you know that I once was a cold-blooded assassin?" Shen Qinglan said with an icy expression, her lips curling up in a mocking smile.

Fu Hengyi’s eyes softened as he gently took her hand, "Does it hurt a lot?"

Shen Qinglan was taken aback, meeting his tender gaze, a bit at a loss for words. She thought that after he discovered her past identity, he would despise her, since he was a soldier, wasn’t he?

"Qinglan, you’ve been hurt a lot in the past, haven’t you?" Fu Hengyi thought of how today she was full of injuries yet didn’t utter a word, appearing indifferent to the wounds on her body. It pained him deeply, this foolish girl.

"Fu Hengyi, is that all you have to say?"

Fu Hengyi reached out and touching her face, "Otherwise, what do you want me to say?"

"Fu Hengyi, I just told you, I am an assassin, and you are a soldier, a soldier who protects the home and the nation."

Fu Hengyi nodded and agreed, "Mhm, I know. You were once an assassin, but you also said that was in the past, didn’t you?"

Shen Qinglan looked bewildered, "Fu Hengyi, doesn’t that bother you?"

"Fool, I’ve told you, no matter what happens in the future, I will always be by your side and will never leave you."

"Fu Hengyi, you’re a soldier and I..." Shen Qinglan’s gaze trembled violently.

Fu Hengyi pulled her into his embrace, holding her gently as he spoke in a calming voice, "Qinglan, I believe that becoming an assassin wasn’t your choice, and you are not one now, nor will you be in the future." Ever since they met in the rainforest, Fu Hengyi had suspected Shen Qinglan’s past identity. The good, the bad—he had asked himself, if Shen Qinglan really were as he had guessed, standing on a side opposed to his own, what choice would he make? Would he let go of her hand?

He had asked himself many times, and the answer was always the same: since she chose to be Shen Qinglan, to be his wife, he would never let go of her hand for the rest of his life.

"Qinglan, don’t be afraid of me, don’t worry about me leaving you, and don’t distance yourself from me."

Shen Qinglan wrapped her arms around Fu Hengyi’s waist and sniffed, "Fu Hengyi, if one day others realize my identity..."

"Then I will accompany you to Hell. Wherever you go, I will follow," Fu Hengyi chuckled, saying without hesitation. He thought he was after all just a mortal. If he were the emperor of ancient times, faced with a choice between a beauty and his kingdom, he would not hesitate to choose the beauty and forsake the kingdom.

Shen Qinglan sniffed again, her heart aching at the realization of what Fu Hengyi was willing to give up for her, "Fu Hengyi, thank you."

Fu Hengyi chuckled, "Silly, we are husband and wife. I’ve said that you never need to thank me or apologize to me. Besides, this time, it’s ultimately because of me that you ended up in such a situation."

Shen Qinglan shook her head, "This has nothing to do with you, and you needn’t blame yourself."

Fu Hengyi pulled back slightly, "Let’s take care of your wounds first."

As Fu Hengyi looked at the crisscrossing wounds, a fierce glint flashed through his eyes. Last time, BK had tried to retaliate against him by using the lives of civilians as leverage and had even killed two of his brothers. This time, they kidnapped Shen Qinglan. Old grievances and new hatred combined, it was a matter of life and death.

After bandaging Shen Qinglan’s wounds, Fu Hengyi and Shen Qinglan lay down, but neither of them felt the slightest bit sleepy.

"Are you willing to tell me about your past life?" Fu Hengyi asked softly in the darkness.

Shen Qinglan was startled, "Do you want to know?"

"Mm, if you’re willing to talk about it."

Shen Qinglan thought for a moment, then spoke softly, "After I was abducted by human traffickers, I was sold into the Devil Training Base. Most of the people there were orphans adopted from orphanages, and the rest were like me, trafficked. They were all young, none older than ten. We had to undergo a series of training, learn a lot of things, and if you weren’t skilled enough, you might die in one of the trials..."

Although Shen Qinglan’s descriptions were vague, Fu Hengyi found them extremely distressing. He couldn’t describe how he was feeling at the moment—if possible, he wished he could be the one she spoke of, to take on everything for her.

"Qinglan, have you ever hated? You could have had a much better life."

In the dark, Shen Qinglan shook her head gently, "Maybe at first, but as time passed, such hatred was replaced by the thought of wanting to survive."

"Fu Hengyi, I am very lucky. When I first arrived at that organization, I met someone who was determined to protect me. No matter how difficult the situation was, she wouldn’t tell me to give up. I had to live on, even to the point that, in order to protect me, she was killed by someone during a trial, slain by a companion’s knife. The one who should have died was me.

We were often thrown into tropical rainforests, at first for a week and gradually extending to a month, without water or food, only a dagger on us. Besides having to beware of wild animals, we also had to watch out for our companions, in case they stabbed us in the back at any moment..."

"Qinglan, don’t talk anymore, it’s all in the past." Fu Hengyi held her tight, filled with indescribable heartache. He couldn’t imagine how a five-year-old Shen Qinglan managed to survive such cruel training. He now somewhat regretted asking her—if he had known of her difficult past, he wouldn’t have asked.

Shen Qinglan did not stop, but smiled faintly, her expression calm as she continued, "Fu Hengyi, do you know? My first mission was to kill a gang leader, and I completed the mission beautifully. I was eleven that year, and when I was thirteen, I graduated from that organization."

"I have carried out many missions, every target died by my hand, I even lost track of how many lives I have taken."

Shen Qinglan’s eyes grew profound, "I used to despise soldiers because when I was most helpless, my father did not come to save me, because one of my companions died at the hands of soldiers. On a mission to Country R, we had a traitor within us. When we were retreating, the traitor informed the R country’s military of our route, and my companion died protecting me."

"What happened after that?" Fu Hengyi asked softly.

"I grew tired of walking forever in the dark, tired of endless missions, tired of the smell of blood like rust. So I led Andre and the others in destroying the organization, along with our instructor Allen, but what I didn’t expect was that Allen is still alive. Fu Hengyi, if you stay with me, you might face endless troubles."

Fu Hengyi held her, kissing her forehead, "Shen Qinglan, I, Fu Hengyi, have never been afraid of trouble. I can’t be part of your past, but I’ll protect your future. In this life, I’ll guard you until death do us part."

With a gentle voice, he spoke the most resounding words conceivable, Shen Qinglan’s throat felt itchy, and the tip of her nose tingled. She said nothing, just held Fu Hengyi tightly.

Fu Hengyi, meeting you in this life is my greatest fortune.

**

The next day, the first thing Shen Qinglan did upon waking up was to check on Ya Xi, who lay in bed, sleeping peacefully like a child.

Eden walked in and saw Shen Qinglan sitting by Ya Xi’s bed, "An, how are your injuries?"

"I’m fine, Eden, Ya Xi she..."

"She’s suffered a great shock mentally. She woke up for a moment last night, was very unstable, and didn’t allow anyone to get close, so I gave her a sedative."

"How long will her condition last?" Shen Qinglan’s eyes were very dark, she still remembered Ya Xi’s crazed appearance from last night.

"It’s difficult to say, she might get better in a few days, or she might never recover, An, this is post-traumatic sequelae, to put it simply, she has gone mad."

Hearing this, Shen Qinglan’s gaze trembled, she composed herself, and gently held Ya Xi’s hand, whose back was covered with many scars, seemingly from cuts, and all her fingernails were broken, "Isn’t there any other way?"

"An, I’m not an expert in this field, I can’t give you a definite answer, but I have already contacted a friend of mine in the medical field, he is a very outstanding psychological expert, maybe he has some way to help."

"Eden, please look after Ya Xi."

"An, you don’t need to be so polite with me, I will definitely find a way to cure Ya Xi. Let me change the dressing on your arm first."

Shen Qinglan shook her head, just then, Fu Hengyi walked in and heard this, frowning, "Qinglan, your wound must be treated."

Once Fu Hengyi had spoken, Shen Qinglan naturally did not insist further, but she did not leave, instead, she let Eden treat her wound right there. Eden went out to get the medicine kit.

Unwrapping the gauze, Eden carefully examined Shen Qinglan’s wound and, finding no infection, was relieved, "An, don’t get your wound wet for the next few days."

The sting from the disinfecting alcohol made Shen Qinglan frown slightly. Fu Hengyi walked over to her side and glared at Eden, "Be gentle."

Eden glanced at Fu Hengyi without a word, his touch became lighter. Shen Qinglan’s gaze never left Ya Xi.

"I’ll change the dressings on your other wounds too." After having taken care of the wound on the arm, Eden spoke.

"No need, I will take care of the other wounds on her body. Just give me the medicine," Fu Hengyi said coldly, making it clear that he didn’t miss the man’s feelings towards Shen Qinglan.

"Fine, come with me to get the medicine," Eden readily agreed. This man was Shen Qinglan’s husband, and from the way he had acted these past days, Eden knew this man cared about Shen Qinglan no less than he did, and that was enough.

**

A day earlier, MD.

The negotiation between King and Ryan was far from pleasant.

"Ryan, I’m sincerely willing to make a deal with you, but your price shows no sincerity at all," King said with narrowed eyes and a measured tone.

Ryan grinned, "King, my price is absolutely fair. If you think it’s too high, you’re totally free to buy from someone else."

King stared at the smiling fox across from him with a stern face. If it weren’t for the fact that only Ryan could access the goods, he really wanted to eliminate the man in front of him.

Ryan didn’t take King’s glare seriously at all, even though BK’s reputation on the street was disreputable, one had to abide by the rules of the underworld. Moreover, he held the biggest trump card, which was that currently, only he had the goods.

He sat there at ease, holding a cup of coffee in his hands, sipping leisurely, occasionally glancing at King’s ever-changing expressions from the corner of his eye, feeling extremely pleased.

The longer King hesitated, the happier he became. After all, he hadn’t really come out to do business with King; stalling for time was his main objective.

The first time negotiating a partnership, it was normal not to trust each other, but King actually took most of his trusted aides out of their base, which was a bit beyond Ryan’s expectations. However, this played right into his hands.

"Ryan, I simply can’t accept this quote from you. I can give you a price that’s ten percent higher than the market rate, and that’s the limit I can accept."

Ryan shook his head, "I’ve already agreed to give a part to someone else. There’s not much left anyway. If you only wanted the remaining part, we might still have something to discuss, but you’re asking for all the stock I have on hand. If I gave it all to you, I wouldn’t be able to explain myself to the others. Going back on my word would ruin my own reputation. Who would dare do business with me, Ryan, after that? You’ll have to compensate me for a part of this loss."

King’s expression fluctuated. The quality of these things was really excellent. He had once gotten his hands on a hand grenade through others, and its performance was unmatched by others of its type on the market.

If he could swallow all the goods Ryan currently had on hand, then his BK power would surely climb to the next level. But Ryan’s quote was a full thirty percent higher than the market price, which was basically daylight robbery.

"Ryan, I’ll add another five percent," King said after pondering for a long time. "That’s the highest price I can afford. If you accept, we’ll work together. If you don’t, then, I’m afraid, we won’t have the chance to cooperate in the future."

Was that a threat? Ryan raised an eyebrow. He couldn’t claim many things, but when it came to weapons and gear, he wasn’t bragging to say that sixty percent of them were circulated through his hands. King’s threat held no sway over him.

Ryan stood up, "Then it seems we can’t work with BK this time." With that, he turned and walked away.

King wanted to say something, but saw a subordinate walk in and whisper a few words to King’s ear. King’s face changed dramatically.

"Ryan, I’m sorry, something came up and I have to leave now." With that, he hurriedly left the place.

Ryan watched his retreating figure, then sat down again, cheerfully raised his cup of coffee to take a sip. Although it was only a half-hour distance to the Southern District, by the time King raced back, everything would be over.

After a while, he phoned Eden. They were already on their way to the airport. Ryan felt relieved, gulped down the coffee in the cup, and happily went home.

When King rushed back, all he saw was a scene of devastation, bodies everywhere, not a single survivor. King furiously grabbed the clothing of a person next to him and roared, "What the hell happened here? I was only gone for an hour. Why has it become like this?"

The man he yelled at trembled, managing to stammer out, "Not long after we left, several people broke in and took away the two women we had captured. After they left, another group came, killing anyone they saw, and then, and then it turned into this."

With a fierce look, King pushed the man away, "Find out for me. I want to know who did this."

"Yes," a man behind him responded and turned to leave. King took one last look at the place and departed. Tonight’s incident was definitely not a coincidence; they had shown up right after he left, knowing his whereabouts as if they had it in the palm of their hand. If there wasn’t a traitor among them, then it meant they had been living under someone else’s watch all along. The latter possibility was too low, so...

From start to finish, King never considered the possibility that Ryan’s talk of collaboration was a ruse to draw him away from his stronghold. After all, he had no idea about the relationship between Eden and Ryan, or between Eden and Shen Qinglan.

And because of this oversight, BK’s ranks underwent a major purge. King took care of several new high-level members who had recently joined, leaving BK in a state of turbulence for a very long time.

When Allen heard the news, he sneered in disdain. King was still as selfish and arrogant as ever.

**

"Ah! Ahhhh!" Fu Hengyi was applying medicine to Shen Qinglan when he suddenly heard a scream from outside, it was Ya Xi’s voice. Shen Qinglan’s face changed and she pushed Fu Hengyi away, rushing out in a hurry.

Fu Hengyi quickly followed.

In the room, Ya Xi had woken up. She was hiding under a table, covering her ears and screaming, "Get away, don’t touch me, ah, get away."

Jin Enxi stood by, watching Shen Qinglan come in, her face a picture of helplessness, "An, I just wanted to cover her with a blanket, and then she woke up."

Shen Qinglan didn’t pay attention to her; she squatted in front of the table and gently spoke to the inside, "Ya Xi, don’t be afraid. There are no bad people here, no one will bully you, the bad guys are all dead, you are safe."

Ya Xi’s body trembled slightly, completely unable to hear Shen Qinglan’s words, her face full of fear, she kept saying, "Don’t touch me, don’t touch me, big sister, where are you? I’m so scared, please come save me."

Shen Qinglan’s eyes reddened, her lips quivering as she looked at Ya Xi in such a state, overcome with unbearable pain, "Ya Xi, big sister is here, I am your big sister, lift your head and look at me."

Ya Xi seemed to take in her words, slowly lifting her head, "Ah, you’re a demon, you’re not big sister, you’re a demon!"

Ya Xi screamed while shrinking back further into herself, curling up into a ball.

Shen Qinglan was taken aback; Ya Xi used to cling to her, but now she was afraid of her, "Ya Xi, I am your big sister, don’t you remember me?"

Ya Xi shook her head desperately, "No, you’re not big sister, blood, there’s so much blood on you, you’re a demon, you’re not big sister, you’re not."

"Ya Xi." Shen Qinglan’s voice choked with emotion.

"An, let me try." Jin Enxi spoke up.

Fu Hengyi walked up to Shen Qinglan, pulling her up; her eyes filled with agony.

Jin Enxi squatted down, "Ya Xi, look at me, who am I?"

Ya Xi held her head, her eyes on the ground, not even glancing at Jin Enxi.

Jin Enxi, with patience, gently said, "Ya Xi, lift your head and look, this is a new place, it’s a safe place, we will protect you, and no one can bully you anymore."

Ya Xi didn’t look up, muttering under her breath, still calling for Shen Qinglan to save her, frightened.

Jin Enxi reached out to pull Ya Xi out, but before her hand touched Ya Xi, she began to scream, "Ah, don’t touch me, don’t touch me, go away."

"Enxi, stop." Shen Qinglan spoke up, glancing at Ya Xi, "Never mind, let her stay inside for now."

Jin Enxi withdrew her hand and stood up, "I’ll go get Eden."

Shen Qinglan leaned weakly into Fu Hengyi’s embrace, "Fu Hengyi, how am I supposed to explain to her family? I didn’t protect her, Fu Hengyi, seeing her like this, I would rather it be me enduring all of this."

"Qinglan, this isn’t your fault, it’s these beasts that are too inhuman, sparing not even a child."

"No, it is my fault. If it weren’t for me, Sister Mumu wouldn’t have died; now, because of me, Ya Xi suffered such an ordeal. If Sister Mumu knew I didn’t protect her sister, she would definitely blame me."

Last night, Fu Hengyi had learned that Qin Mu was the one who died protecting Shen Qinglan, and Ya Xi was Qin Mu’s half-sister.

"Qinglan, don’t take all the blame on yourself," Fu Hengyi felt his words were so pale at that moment.
