Chapter 228. The Fate of Li Xitong (First Update)
Chapter 228: 228. The Fate of Li Xitong (First Update)
Being seen through by Jin Enxi, Li Xitong neither felt like staying nor leaving. However, her mind hadn’t changed, she had suffered a great loss and definitely wouldn’t let this go so easily.
"If you don’t believe me, you can try it, I believe the results will certainly be satisfying beyond your expectations." Jin Enxi added, causing Li Xitong to shiver violently.
"Can I leave now?" Li Xitong said with a wooden expression.
Jin Enxi smiled sweetly, "Of course."
But as soon as Li Xitong reached the door, Jin Enxi struck her on the back of the neck with her palm, and she fainted. Jin Enxi dusted off her hands, "I still have to personally send you back, you really are lucky."
Sighing, Jin Enxi lifted Li Xitong from the ground, threw her into the trunk of a car that had been waiting outside, then got into the driver’s seat. The car roared away from the villa.
When Li Xitong woke up, she found herself lying by the roadside. She rose from the ground, looked around— the area was remote without any sign of human presence, she had no idea where she was.
She walked slowly, barefoot, her shoes long gone, her clothes changed, making her appearance slightly less disheveled.
She checked her pockets; there was only a packet of white powder, not even a single coin. She hugged herself, feeling severe pain coming from her right hand, her eyes cold.
Having barely spotted a car, Li Xitong braced herself, stood in the middle of the road, causing the car to screech to an emergency stop. Soon after, a man got out all flustered, "Are you trying to kill yourself? If you want to die, do it somewhere far from me, don’t involve me."
Li Xitong’s face shifted when she saw the driver, instantly turning pitiable, "Big Brother, I didn’t mean it, I’m lost. Could you please give me a lift, just drop me somewhere I can easily get a taxi, please."
In the middle of the night, a single, beautiful woman speaking like this, the driver’s anger cooled by half. This was the outskirts of Beijing, at least an hour’s drive from the downtown area. Relying on the streetlights, the driver sized up Li Xitong, noting her good looks and solitary presence, his eyes shifted, "I can take you, but do you have money? It’s a long way to the city, and I won’t do it without payment."
Li Xitong’s face stiffened, she didn’t have a single coin on her, "Big Brother, right now I don’t have any money, but if you take me home, I will give you the money immediately— is 500 yuan enough?"
The driver seemed to ponder over the feasibility, "A thousand, take me home and I’ll ensure my family gives you 1000 yuan, that should be enough."
"Alright, get in."
Li Xitong, relieved, opened the back seat to find another man already there. Seeing Li Xitong stand without moving, the driver snapped impatiently, "Are you getting in or not? We need to get home, we don’t have time to waste here in the middle of the night."
Li Xitong thought for a moment and got in the car, getting home was what mattered.
The driver and the man in the back seat exchanged knowing looks.
"Why would a girl be out here in the middle of the night?" Driving, the man glanced at Li Xitong and asked.
Li Xitong, her expression stiff, seemed embarrassed, "I was out with my boyfriend, we argued halfway and I got out of the car, then realized I had left my bag in his car." She made up an excuse on the spot.
The driver glanced at her, shaking his head, "That boyfriend of yours is no good, a man should be generous. How could he leave his girlfriend stranded after a fight, wasn’t he worried that you, a beautiful girl, might encounter dangers?"
Li Xitong gave a dry laugh, not responding. Seeing that she stayed silent, the driver ceased talking too. The car became quiet, Li Xitong watched the direction the driver took, noting that they were indeed heading to the city. Relieved, she closed her eyes to rest.
Suddenly, Li Xitong felt a hand groping her body and immediately opened her eyes, coming face to face with the man sitting beside her. The car had already stopped by the side of the road, unknown to her when, and the driver had opened the other side’s door and got in.
Even if Li Xitong was naive, she sensed something was off. She watched the two men defensively, "What do you want?"
The driver smirked unpleasantly, "Sister, let’s make a deal. We will take you home, won’t take your money, just play nicely with us, making us enjoy, how does that sound?"
Li Xitong’s face changed, her left hand gripping her clothes, trying to negotiate, "I can give you more money, if a thousand isn’t enough, I can give two thousand."
The man chuckled, "Sister, we don’t want your money, we want you." His eyes roamed shamelessly over Li Xitong’s body, pausing especially on her more appealing parts. The dress she wore, although recently changed, was similar in style to her previous one, following a sexy style, enticingly displaying her curves for the two men.
Feeling the man’s gaze, Li Xitong tightened her grip on her dress, "Five thousand, just to take me home."
The driver and the man exchanged looks, somewhat tempted. The man turned his eyes craftily, suddenly having an idea, shared a look with the driver who instantly understood— after all, they had done this kind of thing before.
The driver returned to his seat, making Li Xitong think they had agreed to her offer. She breathed a sigh of relief, but before her heart could settle completely, she heard the sound of the doors locking. The man grabbed Li Xitong, "Pretty sister, just play with us for a bit."
"Get away from me." Li Xitong struggled, but she couldn’t move her right hand. With just one working left hand, she was no match for a man. The driver climbed over from the driver’s seat, and the small back seat suddenly became crowded with three adults.
Li Xitong was pinned down by the man, her upper garments already gone. "Sweetheart, just cooperate with us, and once we’ve had our fun, we’ll send you home," the man cooed to Li Xitong.
Li Xitong was still struggling fiercely when the driver, seeing this, took off his own belt and tied her hands above her head.
"You’re raping me. I will sue you, I’ll call the police!" Unable to free her hands, Li Xitong shouted at the two men.
The driver chuckled, "It’s consensual, how can it be coercion?"
"Exactly, we’re just having a bit of fun," the man excused, as the sounds of Li Xitong’s struggles, her screams, and the ripping of fabric filled the car.
When everything had quieted down, Li Xitong lay motionless on the back seat, her clothes thrown aside, expressionless.
The two men, satisfied, sat in the front. The driver glanced at Li Xitong, "Don’t say we bullied you, sister. You enjoyed it too." He then pulled out a phone, and immediately, ambiguous moans resonated from it.
Even without looking, Li Xitong knew it was her own voice.
She sat up, said nothing, and didn’t even glance at the men, enduring the pain in her body as she got dressed. "Can you take me home now?"
The men exchanged looks, finding this woman quite amusing. Holding back his renewed urges, the driver, possessing a shred of conscience, refrained from touching her again and started the car.
About ten minutes from the downtown area, the driver let Li Xitong off and drove away. Barefoot, she stared at the empty night streets and finally couldn’t hold back a scream, "Ah! Shen Qinglan, I will not let you go."
Li Xitong walked home, arriving just as dawn broke. Tian Cuifang was already up and was surprised to see Li Xitong, "Xitong, how did you come back?"
Just then, Li Yong came out of his room and saw the disheveled state of Li Xitong, "You didn’t get chased out by Lin Hao, did you? Li Xitong, I’m not trying to insult you, but you’re really useless, can’t even keep a man."
Ignoring Li Yong’s harsh words, Li Xitong went straight to her room. After getting together with Lin Hao, she rarely returned home, so her original room had been taken over by Li Yong and Xiao Li, and she had moved into the smaller room that Li Yong had previously occupied.
Opening the wardrobe, seeing her clothes all messed up, Li Xitong didn’t even frown. She just picked a piece of clothing, went to the bathroom, and after showering, she left for the hospital.
The doctor examined her right hand and took x-rays, concluding it was a comminuted fracture with no hope of recovery, just as she had anticipated. Her right hand was useless now.
Clutching the doctor’s prescriptions, she headed to the police station to report the crime.
"You said what? You want to report this?" the police officer looked skeptically at Li Xitong.
Li Xitong, expressionless, "Yes, I was kidnapped, imprisoned, and suffered immense physical and emotional harm. I want to report it." She did not mention the sexual assault, treating the previous night as though she had been bitten by a dog.
The officer glanced at Li Xitong’s bandaged right hand and the hospital report, "Who kidnapped you?"
"Shen Qinglan," Li Xitong spat out a name, "Shen family’s daughter, Shen Qinglan."
The officer’s expression remained indifferent as he set down the hospital report and looked intently at Li Xitong, speaking earnestly, "Miss Li, such jokes should not be made lightly. We are very busy with our daily work, and you are wasting police resources with this."
Li Xitong knew this would be the outcome. "I’m not joking. I was kidnapped and imprisoned for over a week." She provided details of the time and place of the kidnapping. "You can check the surveillance cameras on that road. You’ll see I’m not lying."
"We will investigate this carefully, but gathering evidence takes time. Miss Li, please go home, and we’ll notify you immediately when we have the results of the investigation."
Li Xitong, offering no objections, registered her information and left the police station.
Following the principle of duty, the police, although disbelieving Li Xitong’s claims, still filed her case and sent personnel to the location she had mentioned to check the surveillance footage.
The results were available that same day, but looking at them, the investigators were speechless, "Could this person be suffering from persecution delusion?" one officer remarked.
Another officer laughed, "Who knows? Wasn’t she kicked out by the Shen family? After all that online drama, she probably did something to warrant it. Now with her hand injured, she probably won’t be able to play the piano anymore. I’d bet nine out of ten she’s aiming to get money from the Shen family."
"Forget it. The conflicts of these wealthy families are not something we commoners can intervene in. It’s just a pity that Old General Shen’s lifetime reputation ends up fostering such a granddaughter."
"She isn’t blood-related; she’s adopted. The real granddaughter of Old General Shen is Shen Qinglan," another officer interjected and then lowered his voice, speaking mysteriously, "You might not know this, but Shen Qinglan was the first to discover that big child trafficking case that was solved recently. If it weren’t for her quick decision to follow the traffickers and discover their first hideout, capturing a group of suspects, we wouldn’t have solved the case so quickly."
The other officers suddenly became interested, one by one, curiously looking at him, "What exactly happened, tell us quickly."
The young officer became proud, this was an insider’s piece of information. If he didn’t have a relative who was a high-ranking officer in the police department who personally participated in that arrest, he probably wouldn’t have known. Miss Shen said, assisting the police in solving cases is a citizen’s duty, and her name should not be mentioned. Look how high her awareness is, she truly is Old General Shen’s granddaughter.
"Then I’ll tell you properly, but you can’t spread this around," the young officer tempted them.
"Come on, we promise not to spread it, just hurry up and tell us," the others urged.
"The thing is, the story goes like this..."
**
Li Xitong returned home to find the Li Family sitting in the living room, all with unpleasant expressions. She glanced at them and headed towards her room.
"Stop," Li Datou spoke up, "Where have you been these past few days?"
"That’s none of your business," Li Xitong coldly snorted, not planning to pay any attention to Li Datou.
Li Datou slammed his hand down on the table with a smack, startling Xiao Li. She patted her chest, "Dad, just talk, why smack the table? You scared your grandson."
As Li Datou was about to get angry, the mention of ’grandson’ made him calm down, waning like a flag in the wind; he waved his hand, "This has nothing to do with you, go inside."
Psh, Xiao Li rolled her eyes, she didn’t want to meddle in Li Family’s affairs anyway. This Li Family was full of liars, they hadn’t given her the house yet. If it wasn’t for Li Xitong being generous each month, she would have left this family long ago.
Li Yong, seeing his wife upset, hurriedly followed her inside. Only Li Xitong and the Li Family couple remained in the living room.
Li Datou glared at Li Xitong, "Tell me, what exactly have you done? Why is the Shen Family suing you?"
Li Xitong’s casual face stiffened upon hearing this, she looked at Li Datou, "What did you just say?"
"The Shen Family is suing you for intentional injury, the lawyer’s letter has been delivered to our house," Li Datou threw an envelope-like object at Li Xitong’s feet. Picking it up, Li Xitong couldn’t help but laugh. Shen Family, good old Shen Family, daring to turn the tables against her.
"Xitong, go and talk to the Shen Family, ask them to drop the lawsuit," Tian Cuifang said. The house they were living in still belonged to the Shen Family; could they still claim it as theirs if the Shen Family sued Li Xitong?
"Go now to the Shen Family and kneel down and apologize, keep at it until you have their forgiveness," Li Datou said. They had finally obtained their current lifestyle, how could they afford to lose it so easily. He had boasted to all his relatives and friends, he now lived in a big house, and his daughter was a grand pianist. The relatives had even said they would soon visit him in Beijing, if they were driven out now, where would he put his face?
Li Xitong sneered, "They injured me, and I haven’t even sued them yet. They think they can just turn the tables? Let them sue if they think only they can pull such a stunt!"
Saying this, she ignored the ugly faces of the Li couple, entered her room, and lay on her bed. Staring at her right hand, she finally couldn’t hold back her tears.
But after a while, her body started to feel cold, and her left hand trembled uncontrollably. She got up from the bed, took out a packet of white powder given to her by Jin Enxi, poured some out, and began to use it.
She took a deep breath, and her whole body relaxed. Her eyes became hazy as she looked at the air in front of her and softly called, "Hengyi..."
"Hengyi, I know you love me. If it weren’t for Shen Qinglan, you would definitely marry me, right? If Shen Qinglan died, you would marry me, wouldn’t you?"
The next day, when Li Xitong received a call from the police station and saw the investigation results at the police station, she was in disbelief, "This is impossible, this can’t be true, you must have been bribed by Shen Qinglan to bear false witness."
The officer, who had been speaking nicely to her, couldn’t help but frown severely, "Miss Li, please be mindful of your words. We conducted the investigation based on the information you provided. You claimed you were kidnapped around nine o’clock on the night of the twelfth, but our check of the nearby CCTV showed you leaving the bar at around midnight. How do you explain that?"
"It’s impossible, I was already kidnapped by twelve, how could I still be at the bar? You must have made that up," Li Xitong disbelieved.
The officer directly took out the CCTV footage from that night and played it for Li Xitong to see. Li Xitong saw on the footage that indeed, a woman dressed exactly like her walked out of the bar at midnight that night.
"This isn’t me; someone must be impersonating me," Li Xitong exclaimed loudly.
"We have already questioned the bar staff, and they confirmed you left at that exact time that night. Miss Li, we could overlook your false alarm, but we have another matter that requires your cooperation. Mr. Shen Junyu has already filed a report, claiming you attempted to murder Mr. Shen Yuanyi."
Li Xitong had not expected such a turn of events. In the blink of an eye, she had gone from being a victim to a criminal suspect.
Sitting in the interrogation room, Li Xitong remained silent no matter what the police officer asked—she just wouldn’t speak.
"Li Xitong, I hope you can cooperate a little," the officer knocked on the table, her tone impatient. She had been questioning Li Xitong for several hours, but Li Xitong was not cooperating at all. It was as if Li Xitong didn’t hear the officer’s words. Her body trembled slightly, yawning one after another, tears welling up in the corners of her eyes. The officer noticed something was off about her condition—it looked very much like...
Standing up and walking out, soon two more police officers entered, glanced at Li Xitong, "It’s indeed a drug withdrawal."
The officer in charge shook her head, never expecting that the promising pianist, Li Xitong, was actually an addict.
"What should we do now?"
"Contact the Detoxification Center immediately."
That night, the news of Li Xitong’s arrest for drug use spread rapidly, and less than five minutes later, an anonymous post appeared on a forum detailing the events of Li Xitong attempting to harm Old Sir Shen. The content was detailed and specific, as if witnessed firsthand.
As soon as the post was made, it caused an uproar, with a flood of derogatory comments online, condemning Li Xitong as a poisonous, ungrateful woman.
But by then, Li Xitong had already been sent to the Detoxification Center for mandatory detoxification, completely unaware of the outside world.
"Okay, I understand, thank you," Shen Junyu hung up the phone, a cold smile on his lips.
This time he would not let Li Xitong off no matter what.
Chu Yunrong had just returned from abroad when she learned that the Old Sir had been hospitalized, even nearly killed by Li Xitong, and she fainted on the spot from the shock.
Li Xitong was sued by Shen Junyu for attempted murder, and ultimately sentenced to ten years imprisonment for attempted homicide.
"After dealing with Li Xitong, have the Li Family thrown out of Beijing, then sell that apartment," Shen Junyu made a call, feeling sickened whenever he saw the Li Family.
"Please, don’t drive us away, the one who did wrong is Li Xitong, not us, we have nothing to do with this," Tian Cuifang pleaded desperately to not leave the apartment.
But the people Shen Junyu hired were definitely not benevolent; being well paid, they naturally intended to do the job cleanly.
They dragged Tian Cuifang out, eventually forcibly removing all members of the Li family, searching their bodies for the keys, and, worried they might cause trouble at the Shen Estate, took the extra step of escorting them to the train station and putting them on the first train out.
"I kindly advise you now, if you leave quietly, Li Xitong’s issue will stay unrelated to you. But if you make trouble, it won’t be just Li Xitong who ends up behind bars," they warned. Frightened, the Li family left Beijing crestfallen.
After leaving Beijing, the Li family moved to another city. To support themselves, Li Datou and Tian Cuifang reluctantly continued to work. Having lived comfortably with Li Xitong for the past few months, they struggled to adjust, with Li Datou often lashing out at Tian Cuifang, making their home miserable.
Xiao Li couldn’t stand living like this. When her child was six months old, she underwent an abortion and then ran away with all of the Li family’s money.
Of course, all these events came later.
**
At an estate abroad, Allen listened to Xu Nuo’s report and chuckled, "Truly worthy of the best disciple I’ve taught, well played. Xiaoqi, thankfully the dull life hasn’t dulled your fighting spirit, or I might be tempted to punish you."
Allen mused to himself, with Xu Nuo standing silently nearby, her eyes cast down in loss, as her master never lingered his gaze on her.
"What are you still doing here?" Allen snapped back to reality, catching sight of Xu Nuo, his tone cold.
"I’ll leave right now," Xu Nuo responded quietly, turning to go.
"Wait," Allen called her back, "Give that woman a warning. Tell her not to act rashly and not to try to harm Shen Qinglan, or else she’ll understand the consequences of provoking me."
Xu Nuo acknowledged, exited Allen’s room, and met Peter coming to give Allen his treatment. Peter glanced at Xu Nuo and then averted his eyes.
"Allen, how are you feeling today..." Xu Nuo listened to the conversation inside the room and went downstairs.
Since her last failure, she had never left this place, spending her days keeping track of Shen Qinglan’s news and reporting promptly to Allen. She didn’t know what Allen’s plan was, but seeing him endure immense pain every day just to stand again, Xu Nuo admitted her heart ached, and her hatred for Shen Qinglan, who monopolized all Allen’s attention, grew even deeper.
