Chapter 114: 114. That is Hell 2 (One more update)
Only seven days remained until the trial ended. If they could survive seven more days and defeat the others, they would temporarily be safe.
The place they found was a cave. The entrance was small, but the space inside was quite large and secure, unlikely to be discovered by anyone for now.
The two ate the rabbit in silence. "Sister Mumu, rest first. I’ll keep watch."
Qin Mu did not object, having expended too much energy today; she indeed needed to rest.
"Alright, call me after two hours. I’ll take over the watch."
Shen Qinglan nodded.
However, they were destined not to pass the night safely. At three in the morning, a rustling noise came from outside the cave. Qin Mu and Shen Qinglan both opened their eyes, exchanged a glance, said nothing, but tightened their grip on the daggers in their hands.
They nodded at each other and silently approached the cave entrance. Glancing outside, there were seven people, all companions from this trial.
Neither Qin Mu nor Shen Qinglan believed these people had come to form an alliance.
Out of the ninety participants, only three could survive—the competition was as fierce and brutal as one could imagine.
Without wasting words, they waited for the right moment and Qin Mu threw her dagger at one who looked the weakest.
She was injured and couldn’t ensure a successful strike against the strongest, so she targeted the weakest instead; eliminating even one was a victory.
The man fell at the sound, and the other six, startled, attacked them—it was a bloody confrontation.
What happened after that?
Shen Qinglan lay on the sports field, gasping for breath, her forehead covered in sweat, despite it being November.
She looked at her hands—clean, slender, hands that anyone would consider beautiful. Yet, who could imagine that these clean hands were covered in blood?
That night, Qin Mu and Shen Qinglan fought against six others in a grueling struggle. Qin Mu killed two. Just as she was about to strike a third, she caught sight in the corner of her eye someone behind Shen Qinglan, raising a dagger, poised to strike fiercely.
Qin Mu, startled and unable to deal with that person, could only shield Shen Qinglan with her body in desperation.
Shen Qinglan, sensing something wrong behind her, turned to see Qin Mu, a dagger protruding from her chest, the blade having entered from her back, piercing through to the front. From Shen Qinglan’s angle, the sharp point of the dagger was visible, dripping with bright red blood onto the brown soil.
In the clear depths of Shen Qinglan’s eyes was the reflection of Qin Mu’s smiling face as she silently mouthed something. Shen Qinglan made out the words: "Live."
Eyes blazing with fury, Shen Qinglan raised her dagger and plunged it fiercely into the nearest person’s heart. The strike was decisive, unhesitant, merciless. Who could believe it was her first time killing someone?
Her youthful hands were covered in blood—warm, yet chilling her heart.
Seeing this, the others attacked Shen Qinglan together.
Her movements were agile, and having been protected by Mumu earlier, she was uninjured. For a moment, the three men couldn’t subdue her.
Shen Qinglan, having lost her senses after Qin Mu’s death, did not care about her own body at all and killed those three people, trading life for life with her own hands.
Her clothes were soaked with blood, both hers and others’, with a heavy scent of blood that made her stomach churn.
She ignored the wounds on her body and instead cradled Qin Mu’s body in her arms, still feeling her lingering warmth. Shen Qinglan gently rested her head against her forehead, tears falling onto Qin Mu’s face, yet they felt ice cold.
"Sorry," she whispered softly, her words dissolving into the night wind.
Shen Qinglan buried Qin Mu’s body right there, not wanting to leave her exposed in the wild. With her small hands, she dug deep into the earth to prevent wild animals from finding the grave, then personally covered the body.
In that trial, Shen Qinglan survived. Despite being severely injured and barely clinging to life, she survived. Two others survived along with her, one of them being Jin Enxi.
In time, Shen Qinglan went through countless similar survival tests and became an elite assassin.
At the age of eleven, Shen Qinglan went on her first mission and successfully killed the target. Afterward, missions came continuously, and the name "Mei" resonated internationally. No one knew whether Mei was male or female, nor how old she was—they only knew she was petite, with puzzling skills and a changeable appearance. Every time she appeared, it was with a different identity, a different face. Those targeted by her were doomed.
Some who were targeted by Mei, out of fear, spent considerable amounts of money to hire protection or even to kill Mei, but none succeeded.
In the world of assassins, Mei was an undefeated myth.
However, four years later, Mei vanished from the international scene and was no longer heard from, alongside the disappearance of that fearsome organization. Some said Mei had been killed due to a failed mission, others believed she was destroyed along with her organization.

Shen Qinglan’s hand covered her eyes, shielding the crimson within. A mocking smile played on her lips, the daughter of a military and political family, was actually a cold-blooded assassin, and ironically, she was married to a soldier.
She didn’t know whether the Shen Family or Fu Hengyi would one day learn of her real identity, and she... she didn’t want to think about it.
As dawn broke, she rose from the ground, her hair slightly damp from the morning dew.
Looking up at the slowly rising sun in the sky, she suddenly very much wanted to hear Fu Hengyi’s voice, so early in the morning, just as Fu Hengyi returned from the cafeteria to his dorm, he received a call from Shen Qinglan.
"Fu Hengyi," Shen Qinglan spoke softly, no different from usual.
Yet, to Fu Hengyi’s ears, there was a pause, but he distinctly felt something different about Shen Qinglan at that moment, "Qinglan, I’m here."
Hearing the familiar voice, Shen Qinglan’s troubled heart suddenly calmed, looking at the red sun in the sky, a slight smile appeared on her lips.
"I just wanted to tell you, take good care of yourself in the army and not get hurt."
Fu Hengyi chuckled softly, "The last time was an accident, it won’t happen again." He wasn’t usually given to explanations, but he always had extra patience when it came to Shen Qinglan.
"An, what will you do if he finds out one day?" Jin Enxi’s words echoed in her ears, and Shen Qinglan’s eyes briefly flickered as she slowly began,
"Fu Hengyi, if one day, you discover I am not the person you thought you knew, what would you do?"
