The Tycoon’s Enchanted Mermaid -
Chapter 186: Packing Up and Setting Off
Chapter 186: Chapter 186: Packing Up and Setting Off
Qin Yu returned to Wuqiong Water Pavilion, where Song Ma greeted him at the door, and while entering the house, she filled him in on Ah Da’s condition.
"She is currently on an IV drip, and her fever has subsided, but she hasn’t woken up yet."
Qin Yu’s brows were tightly furrowed, dressed in a black suit, his handsome face still bore the cold and imposing demeanor from work, causing the servants to shiver cautiously around him.
Inside the room, Zhu Yu, wearing a white lab coat, was organizing the medical box. Seeing Qin Yu come in, he stood up straight and greeted, "Mr. Qin."
Qin Yu walked over to the bedside, looked at the quietly lying little girl, and bent down to touch her forehead, feeling the cool temperature that calmed the anxiety he had felt all the way there.
"How is she?" Qin Yu’s gaze remained unwavering.
Zhu Yu said, "There’s nothing wrong with her, as long as the fever is gone, there shouldn’t be any major issues. According to Song Ma, our initial guess is that the fever was caused by staying in the water for an extended period."
Qin Yu felt that the matter was not simple; Ah Da was not an ordinary person. Just as she often emphasized, her constitution, her true merfolk identity, meant that water should pose no issue to her.
Perhaps his suspicion the previous night was correct; it was indeed bizarre that a single cup of fruit wine knocked her down unless she was already afflicted with something, and the alcohol merely acted as a catalyst.
After Qin Yu gave a nod, Zhu Yu removed his gloves, closed the medical box, and left the room with his team.
Song Ma followed to see them off, leaving Qin Yu alone in the room with the sound of the transparent medicinal fluid dripping and flowing into the frail body through a clear tube.
The girl lying on the bed had black, soft hair spread over the pillow, delicate and beautiful features on her palm-sized face, and skin as white as jade. Her long, curling lashes cast crescent moon-shaped shadows below her eyes, and her tiny nose appeared tender and dainty, showing no sign of sickness.
Qin Yu sat beside the bed, gently took her hand, and felt the lower temperature where the needle was inserted, possibly due to the flow of the medicinal fluid.
"Always claiming to be strong, yet even soaking in water can cause a fever; it’s truly worrisome."
Watching her sleep peacefully, Qin Yu spoke softly, leaning down to lightly kiss near the needle site, his cold eyes tinged with an affectionate softness.
She wasn’t awake yet, but it was reassuring that she was fine.
Qin Yu watched her for a while before standing and going downstairs to use his mobile phone to call Lingcheng Mountain regarding Ah Da’s recent issues. Master Ting Chan should have a clear understanding.
The call was answered by Yao Qingzhi, who, upon hearing Qin Yu’s questions, solemnly replied, "Before my master left Lingcheng Mountain, he indeed instructed me to relay a message if Mr. Qin called: It’s useless to involve him concerning Miss Su’s matter. The best approach is for you to handle it yourself."
Qin Yu stood by the window, looking at the garden outside and the distant azure lake, "What do you mean? Explain clearly."
Yao Qingzhi said, "The last time the bronze lamp complemented a part of Miss Su’s soul, despite still having gaps, this did not prevent her from gradually recovering some merfolk traits."
"For instance, some physical changes; of course, as Miss Su’s Spiritual Power reaches a peak, she would be able to control it, but currently, she is still in a transitional period."
"What I mean is, merfolk are, to some extent, akin to beasts, and like animals, they had specific periods for concentrated reproduction..."
"According to your description, Mr. Qin, Miss Su’s current abnormal state is probably due to this reason."
Hearing this, Qin Yu paused.
Yao Qingzhi seemed to find it difficult to speak further, clearing his throat with a couple of coughs, "My master means he can’t do much either; merfolk only exist in mythological tales, and one could say Miss Su is unique; ancient texts do not record how long their breeding period lasts, which poses a problem."
Qin Yu frowned, "If we don’t intervene in this situation, or if we suppress it forcefully, could it harm her body?"
"Logically speaking, it shouldn’t happen. After all, most demons who cultivate into human form can suppress their original instincts to reach a state similar to humans. Miss Su’s condition that you mentioned, I guess, is still probably due to the incompleteness of her soul, coupled with the fact that Miss Su herself has been in the incense burner for a long time, unlike demons who go through the harsh training and transformation of nature. All in all, it requires time to slowly adapt."
Qin Yu fell silent for a while and didn’t speak.
After Yao Qingzhi babbled a lot, she left him with, "Temporarily, there are no other ways, Mr. Qin, if you’re unwilling... you could take her to a place with water or somewhere cold, and try to see if external elements can alleviate the situation a bit."
After hanging up the phone, Qin Yu recalled Ah Da’s series of abnormal behaviors recently, such as soaking in the swimming pool after waking up, and often having intimations of sticking close to him.
He couldn’t deny the joy in his heart, but now knowing she was not in control, he suddenly felt somewhat upset.
Getting drunk on a cup of fruit wine, soaking in the bathtub till she fevered—things didn’t happen without reason. It was evident she had been like this since the day she woke up.
No wonder she had always been complaining of feeling hot.
This fool, completely unaware of her own condition, no wonder she cried so badly in the car last night.
Qin Yu sighed, turned his head towards the staircase, and picked up his phone to make another call.
When Ah Da woke up again, she found Qin Yu sitting beside the bed with a book, startling her.
"Sleep silly?" Qin Yu reached out and pinched her cheek.
Ah Da was a bit bewildered, clutching the blanket covering her and glanced at the light outside the window, blinking her large eyes, "Don’t you... don’t you have to go to work?"
Qin Yu stared at her, threw the magazine onto the bedside table, "Do you know how long you’ve been unconscious?"
Unconscious? Had she been unconscious? Ah Da’s pupils dilated as suddenly, vague memories surfaced in her mind.
The night they came back from the yacht, she soaked in the bathtub until late into the night before the fiery restlessness inside her subsided. After briefly cleaning up, she went back to bed.
What happened next?
Then, the restlessness swept over her too quickly, giving her no time to rest. It wasn’t even dawn yet, and she tossed and turned, kicking all the bedding off the bed but still couldn’t ease it.
Finally, she dove back into the bathtub, clinging to her last bit of sanity with her head out of the water, worried about Song Ma or someone coming to look for her, discovering her submerged wouldn’t be easy to explain.
Bronze Sword said not to expose their identity, and she kept it in mind, only she hadn’t expected to lose consciousness as soon as she closed her eyes.
Ah Da weakly looked at Qin Yu and asked softly, "How long have I been unconscious?"
"One day and one night." Qin Yu stood up and helped her sit up, "You had a fever yesterday, how do you feel now?"
Ah Da felt utterly weak. Hearing Qin Yu’s words, she was somewhat incredulous, her eyes wide and round, her voice tired, "I... am sick?"
Why would she get sick? That shouldn’t be right.
"Mhm." Qin Yu caressed her soft hair, "It’s okay now, get up and wash, Song Ma has already packed your things, we’re leaving in the afternoon."
"Packed my things?" Ah Da felt completely bewildered, "Where are we going?"
Qin Yu said, "To see the ocean."
