Chapter 516: Chapter 517: Hospital!
The electronic gate of the villa slowly opened, and a red large SUV drove in. After parking in the yard, the car was turned off, but no one got out for a while.
At this moment, Bao’er was sitting in her own little nook, quietly doing her homework, focusing intently.
Just then, her stomach made a protest. Bao’er frowned, put her pen down, instinctively rubbed her belly, and checked the time. It was now half past five in the afternoon.
Why hasn’t Brother You returned yet? He didn’t even call, and when she called him, no one answered. What was he doing?
A sliver of worry began to rise within her. She continued working on her assignments albeit feeling hungry.
After all, Brother You had promised to take her out for dinner tonight, but...she was really starting to feel hungry. Should she grab something to eat first?
Thinking of this, she put her pen down again, got up, and walked over to the mini-fridge in the corner of her room. This little fridge was actually a small appliance that Chu You bought specifically for Bao’er to store snacks.
Opening the fridge, she found an array of snacks, including bread and yoghurt, many of which Baoer had never tasted before.
She picked out a cream bread and a bottle of yogurt, and then returned to her desk. She unwrapped the bread, inserted a straw into the yogurt and began to eat.
The food was a bit cold, but the room temperature was fine. It wouldn’t hurt to fill up her stomach.
After finishing the bread and yogurt, which made a hollow noise because it had been sucked dry, Bao’er threw the refuse into a cute trash can.
Just as she was about to continue with her homework, her mobile phone on the desk beeped. It was a message.
Her eyes lit up at the sight of the message because it was from Brother You.
Why did he send a message? Couldn’t he have called?
Still frowning, she unlocked her phone and read the message.
Chu You: Bao’er, I’m in the car in the yard. Come and get me.
Having read the message, Bao’er was a bit confused, but it didn’t matter. The worry in her heart disappeared instantly because Brother You was back.
She immediately stood up, opened the bedroom door, and walked out. At the same time, the surveillance camera installed in the villa quietly focused on Bao’er....
Bao’er was the only one in the villa. Zhou Zhijun wasn’t there, as she’d left to prepare for her departure the next day and to deal with some matters.
The main door of the villa opened. Bao’er immediately spotted the car parked in the yard. The front window was slightly lowered, revealing a familiar figure leaning back, unmoving.
What’s wrong with Brother You? Bao’er quickened her pace. On reaching the car, she opened the door. Then she saw her brother Chu You with his eyes closed, his face pale yet slightly flushed. Was Brother You asleep?
"Bro? Bro? Brother Chu?" Bao’er lightly shook Chu You, calling out to him.
However, there was no response from him. It seemed as though he was sleeping heavily.
This was very strange. He had just texted her a while ago, and in such a short time, her brother was sleeping so deeply!
What should she do? It was so cold outside. Sleeping like this was bound to make him ill!
Bao’er didn’t have Zhou Zhijun’s phone number. Maybe Brother You had it. With that in mind, Bao’er took out Chu You’s phone. There were many missed calls on it, but she didn’t know how to unlock the screen. Eventually, she put it back in Chu You’s pocket.
She continued shaking him, her face increasingly worried. Could a person sleep so heavily? Something must have happened! But why would Brother You send her a text?
She increased the force in her hands, shaking Chu You’s body vigorously, and shouted.
"Hmm..." Chu You let out a moan. There was a response, but he still didn’t wake up.
This went on for a while. Bao’er checked Chu You’s body, feeling his forehead to see if he had a fever, and inspected his body but saw no injuries, except for his pants, which were dirty.
Feeling helpless and panicked, Bao’er didn’t know whether she should call a doctor or ask passers-by for help.
No, this won’t do. She decided to take Brother You home where it was warm. It was too cold outside.
However, when she tried to move Chu You, she found that he was too heavy for her to handle.
A gust of cold wind blew, and Chu You’s phone rang again. Bao’er was delighted, thinking she had found a solution.
She took out the phone again, but on seeing the caller’s name, Bao’er’s elated mood was instantly extinguished, and a sense of unease and hesitation crept up on her.
The caller’s name was: Homer.
Homer, that should be Sister Luo. That’s Brother You’s legitimate girlfriend. Should she answer the call? Brother You has said that Sister Luo is out of town. Even if she tells her about this, Sister Luo wouldn’t be able to make it back in time, right?
Bao’er looked at the ringing phone. No one knew what she was thinking, but in the end, she put the phone back in Chu You’s pocket, letting it continue to ring.
She then took out her own phone. Without any hesitation this time, Bao’er dialed 120. Even though Brother You seemed to be asleep, he wasn’t sleeping normally. It was best to call a doctor. Everyone would feel more reassured that way.
"Hello, is this the hospital? Here is Hanhai villa complex, area code.... My brother seems to have fallen asleep, but I can’t wake him up no matter how hard I try... Okay, okay..."
Thus, standing outside in temperatures close to freezing, Bao’er, looking worried, stood for a while. Then she moved to the passenger seat in the car where it was warmer than outside, occasionally feeling Chu You’s face to monitor his temperature.
Soon, the ambulance arrived. When the medical staff saw Bao’er, they were all somewhat surprised.
"I am his sister. My brother seems to have fallen asleep after coming here and I can’t wake him up," Bao’er told the doctor.
A doctor and two nurses were conducting professional checks on Chu You, after which the doctor asked,
"Where are the adults in your family?"
"Adults? Well, they are not here at the moment. Doctor, how’s my brother?" Bao’er sidestepped the question. She was quite curious about Chu You’s family. He had never mentioned his relatives in this long time, nor had she seen any relatives visiting. Chu You’s family situation was strikingly similar to hers, almost exactly the same!
"I didn’t find any problem with your brother. He is indeed asleep, but it’s not normal. I suggest taking him for further testing at the hospital."
"Alright then, let’s go to the hospital. Don’t worry, money ... money’s not a problem!" Bao’er recalled a phrase that Chu You often said and repeated it.
The doctor believed Bao’er. Looking at the house and the car, who wouldn’t believe they were wealthy? Complete treatment on credit was entirely possible!
"Okay. You need to prepare anything? Your brother’s vital signs are very stable, and he should be fine. Gather anything you need to take with you quickly. We will wait here."
Then Bao’er ran back into the villa, packed her homework book into her school bag, stuffed a few bags of snack that could fill her stomach, and wrote a note on a piece of white paper. She left the note in the most conspicuous place in the living room. Zhou Zhijun should see it when she returns. If she doesn’t return tonight, then there would be nothing she could do.
After coming out and locking the door, Bao’er saw that Brother Chu You was already lying in the ambulance. So, she climbed into the ambulance too. Eventually, the ambulance drove away with the two siblings, heading to a standard hospital, but not a large one.
