Chapter 456: Chapter 457 Flying Weaponry

These three NPCs were all rather agreeable. After spending 80,000 Gold Coins to purchase two more blueprint upgrades, the last NPC asked for 50,000 Gold Coins.

Chu You replied with an indifferent smile, "Everyone else is charging 40,000 Gold Coins, but you’re asking for 50,000. You’ve got quite the nerve!"

The uncle-like NPC nervously laughed, "Not at all, hehe. Well...since you say so, Champion Marquis, let’s settle for 40,000 Gold Coins, hehe..."

"That’s more like it. The upgrade functionality on your blueprint isn’t all that impressive. Take it." Chu You uttered, placing a bag of 40,000 Gold Coins onto the table.

After the transaction, Chu You had gained four blueprint upgrades. He only needed ten more to upgrade the Night Fairy Airship from the T1-Level to the T2-Level.

Once everyone else had completed their transactions and left, Chu You was the only one remaining in the living room, seemingly finding the atmosphere there quite oppressive.

As Chu You prepared to take his leave, he heard voices outside the door: one was the Grand Marshal’s and the other belonged to a stranger with a deep, middle-aged voice, sounding like a male NPC.

Chu You flashed a look of intrigue, secretly waiting for their approach instead of getting up as he initially planned.

Shortly after, the Grand Marshal and a middle-aged man walked into the drawing room. "Champion Marquis, guess how many blueprints this man holds? I assure you, you’ll be thrilled. He owns 30 airship blueprint upgrades. Oh, and by the way, this is the Deputy Sect Master from the Cloud Sky Sect, Cao Lunzi."

Chu You offered a slight smile as he stood up and politely said, "Nice to meet you. I’ve heard an immense deal about the Cloud Sky Sect, a renown sect in Yan Kingdom." Though the Cloud Sky Sect was mildly influential in Yan Kingdom, it wasn’t a powerful entity.

"A pleasure to meet you, Champion Marquis. I hold the utmost honor for your achievements at such a young age. You certainly stand out from the crowd," Cao Lunzi, with a stubbly beard and katana at his side, said. The fact that he was allowed to bring a weapon into the Grand Marshal Mansion was a testament to his high status.

"Let’s not stand on ceremony. Please take a seat," the Grand Marshal interjected.

After seating, Cao Lunzi took the lead, "I heard that you are purchasing airship blueprint upgrades. Ancestors from my sect left us 30 of them. It is my honor, as empowered by the Sect Master, to negotiate this purchase with you."

Chu You nodded, smiling, "What is your asking price?"

With some surprise and admiration, Cao Lunzi looked at Chu You who got straight to the point with no preamble. He then proposed, "A total of 4 million Gold Coins."

Hearing this price, Chu You frowned. 30 blueprint upgrades would ordinarily cost 1.2 million Gold Coins at 40,000 per piece. The new asking price of 4 million represented a significant hike, which left Chu You slightly frustrated.

"4 million Gold Coins? I just purchased blueprint upgrades from others at a rate of 40,000 Gold Coins each. I can accept a cost of 50,000 Gold Coins per blueprint, but your sect is asking for 4 million Gold Coins in total. I can’t help but feel like this price is a bit unreasonable," Chu You casually retorted. Dashing Rich Man wasn’t typically prone to haggling, but with NPCs, it was an interesting diversion.

Cao Lunzi chuckled, "Ha, how could common folks understand the true value of these items? Given your status as Champion Marquis, you surely know about the divine power and potential of airships. I hope you can understand our position." Although he did not explicitly refuse to lower the price, the tenacity in his voice was perceptible. He respected Chu You’s position, but on the matter of the price, his stance was uncompromising.

Chu You laughed, "You’re making it sound as though you’re in a superior position. I’m asking you if you brought the blueprints."

"Of course I brought them. How could we conduct the transaction otherwise? So, does this mean Champion Marquis agrees to the transaction?," the man responded, a look of elation on his face.

Chu You shook his head, responding leisurely, "I cannot accept the price you’ve offered. 4 million Gold Coins is too steep. How does 1.5 million sound?"

Offering 1.5 million instead of the 4 million asking price was quite a bold move.

As expected, Cao Lunzi shook his head, waving off the proposal dismissively as though to express that the thought of such a price is absurd.

"This is out of the question, Champion Marquis. Even if you drop the price to 2.5 million Gold Coins, it won’t be acceptable."

You’re wrong. Even if I were to bid 2.5 million Gold Coins, it would feel like I was mocking your intelligence.

With these thoughts, Chu You stood up, leaving the Grand Marshal and Cao Lunzi baffled. "If that’s the case, so be it. Pardon me, Grand Marshal. I have other matters to attend to. I’ll pay a visit when I’m ready to meet the Yan Emperor. Goodbye!" Without waiting for a response, Chu You walked straight out the door, a plan already forming in his mind.

When there’s an imbalance in power and the weaker party tries to act dominant, the outcome is predictable. This is the typical attitude of players toward NPCs.

The Cloud Sky Sect is but a medium-sized organization that lies between levels 40-45, and their disciples aren’t formidable.

Leaving the Grand Marshal Mansion, Chu You found a secluded corner and disguised himself in the Mysterious Raincoat. He then patiently watched for any movements at the mansion’s entrance.

After a short while, the target emerged from the entrance of the Grand Marshal Mansion: Cao Lunzi, followed by eight disciples of the Cloud Sky Sect. Once they left, they headed for the streets, and Chu You followed them closely.

The streets were bustling with both players and NPCs. Along the way, Chu You noticed player after player shamelessly trying to strike up a conversation with Cao Lunzi and his crew, hoping to receive hidden missions from them. However, after saying just a few words, Cao Lunzi continued on his way without paying them any mind. As for the more persistent players, he deterred them with a show of brute force, clearly indicating that there were no hidden rewards to be claimed.

Chu You understood what was happening. How could a player in their 20s possibly accept a single-person mission meant for someone on level 40-45? Regimental or large-scale missions might be possible, but not under these circumstances.

Chu You continued to tail them until they arrived at the Northern City Gate. Upon leaving the city, each of the Cloud Sky Sect disciples summoned an exquisite sword with unique engravings.

Then, each disciple tossed their sword to the ground and stepped onto it. Without casting any spells, the swords lifted off the ground, carrying their owners into the sky, causing quite the spectacle for any passerby. These were the legendary Flying Swords!

Indeed, they were Flying Swords, though Chu You was aware of one thing: a weapon possessed by players can also produce the same Flying Sword effect but only when the weapon reaches level 60 or higher and is of black diamond grade or above. Using one’s weapon as a means of transportation was a rather grand and impressive feat.

Flying Swords or Flying Weaponry, in general, come with their pros and cons. An advantage is that they allow players to fly with no limit on duration, unlike wings which require time supplements for prolonged use. The biggest disadvantage is that if you are attacked while flying, you cannot cancel the Flight State. If you forcefully try to do so, your character will start free-falling and the weapon will only become available again once you land. Basically, if you’re attacked while airborne, by the time you manage to land, you’re likely already dead.

In short, both Flying Weaponry and wings have their distinct advantages and disadvantages.
