Chapter 399: Chapter 400: Night Ghost, the Governor Comes Online
A night without incident....
When Chu You woke up the next morning, he was stunned to find himself holding Bao’er in his sleep, his strong arm was wrapped around her soft shoulders.
Bao’er was like a little jade rabbit, quietly sleeping in his arms, her face was thoroughly peaceful.
When Chu You got up, Bao’er quickly woke up and greeted him with a smile as soon as she opened her eyes.
"Brother is awake."
"Yeah, you get up too, and then let’s go have breakfast together."
"Okay." Bao’er obediently got out of bed.
When Bao’er got up, Chu You saw that her undershirt was in disarray, exposing her young and chubby belly button. Chu You glanced quickly towards the door...
He then quietly walked towards the bathroom, and when he came out, he noticed that Bao’er had straightened the bedsheets neatly.
After Bao’er had also cleaned up, they went out together for breakfast. While eating, Chu You received a phone call from Old Liu.
"Boss, whenever you’re available today, I can arrange for the signing."
"How about now? Have them come to my house," Chu You replied.
"Okay, boss, please wait a moment, they’ll come over immediately."
He then looked at Bao’er, who had just put down her bowl and chopsticks: "Are you full?"
Bao’er nodded: "Full."
Chu You then rose to pay the bill, and when he turned around, Bao’er handed him a cup of warm boiled water. She was also holding a disposable cup.
"Thank you."
They returned to the villa and waited for the visitors. Bao’er knew that as soon as they settled this matter, she would have to accompany her brother to the distance capital, marking her first far-away trip. As for when they could return, it was an unknown.
"Click.." Chu You lit a cigarette and looked at a gaming forum on his phone, and Bao’er too pulled out her phone, started reading attentively, occasionally operating something with her hand.
As they both immersed themselves in their own world, a knock interrupted them. They both almost simultaneously put down their phones, and as Chu You rose to answer the door, Bao’er beat him to it. He returned to his seat with a smile on his face, letting her open the door.
The door opened to reveal several uniformed workers. After exchanging greetings, they began to discuss work matters. Once Chu You and Bao’er had signed all the papers, the orphaned, soon-to-be eleven-year-old Bao’er, whose parents had both died and had no relatives willing to raise her, had a guardian—Chu You.
After the government workers left, Chu You called Fang Yuanyuan, only to find out that she was still unable to return to the distance capital due to other commitments.
During the call, Chu You could feel Fang Yuanyuan’s strong desire to accompany him, but alas, he had to leave today.
After hanging up the phone, he looked around his old home, then hand-in-hand with Bao’er, they left, officially setting off to the distance capital.
On the way, Bao’er chatted with him about what it would be like in the distance capital, ranging from many topics such as if there were other people in their new home, if she would be a boarder or a day student, and when her brother, who did not go to school, would come home, etc.
For these questions, Chu You gave affirming answers.
As they chatted and drove, the silhouette of the distance capital suddenly appeared before their eyes.
"Brother, it feels like the distance capital is so close to Changling." Bao’er seemed to prefer calling him ’brother’ during the day, the address of ’father’ had completely vanished.
"That’s because we are on a superhighway. Without this, it would take us at least 9 hours to get there, and that’s still by highway. Of course, with today’s technology, the world is a village." Here he laughed, "Let Bao’er experience it in the future. You’ll study in the classroom in the morning, watch the sea in Tianya at noon, dine in Rome, Europe in the evening, feed the pigeons at the Vatican at dusk, and return to our true home at night."
Hearing this, Bao’er laughed.
After a while, they finally entered the Hanhai Villa District.
"Is this where brother lives?"
"Yes, it’s one of the places. From now on, you’ll live here." An idea flashed in his mind as he spoke: he needed to negotiate with the landlord when he had the chance, to see if he could buy the house.
Soon, Chu You drove to his villa, and Bao’er kept examining the surroundings. Seeing that they had finally reached their destination, she surveyed the area even more meticulously.
The villa door automatically opened, Chu You pressed the button on the key, and then parked the car in the courtyard.
At that moment, the door to the villa opened, and Zhou Zhijun, dressed in homely attire, appeared. Her warm cotton pants made her thighs look round, especially the protruding parts, they looked very elastic, she was exceptionally seductive.
However, when Zhou Zhijun saw a little girl coming out of the car, she was considerably surprised.
"Master Chu, you’re back, the lunch is almost ready. Wow, whose child is this? She’s so beautiful, come and let auntie touch you." First, Zhou Zhijun spoke to Chu You, then she sincerely praised Bao’er, it was clear that Zhou Zhijun was very fond of Bao’er.
Bao’er already knew about the housemaid hired specifically for cooking and smiled at Zhou Zhijun: "Hello, Auntie Zhou, I’m Dugu Bao’er." She was, however, slightly taken aback by the hand extended her way.
I’m not such a small child that my cheek need to be stroked...
Chu You intervened to soothe the atmosphere, "Sister Zijun, can you help out a bit? Let’s put Bao’er’s things in Lin Luor’s room." Upon hearing this, Bao’er’s eyes flickered with a hint of surprise.
Not only Zhou Zhijun came over to help, Bao’er started moving her stuff as well. Together, the three of them arranged everything efficiently.
Entering the villa, Bao’er looked around with curiosity while walking.
The three of them quickly entered the second-floor room where Lin Luor stayed and put Bao’er’s things there.
"Where is Luor?" Zhou Zhijun asked at this point.
"She won’t be back for a while, she’s tied up with family matters," said Chu You as he tidied some items, deftly going about his tasks.
Once everything inside was settled, the three of them moved to the dining room. Chu You formally introduced the two women to each other. While introducing Bao’er, he says, "Sister Zijun, from today on, there would be an extra mouth to feed in this house. You may have to put in a little extra effort. Take note of what Bao’er needs for her growth and make sure that the food is both delicious and nourishing. As for the money, don’t worry, I won’t disappoint you."
"Young Master Chu, there’s no need for such formalities. I already consider myself a part of this family. Don’t worry, I will take good care of Bao’er’s health," Zhou Zhijun reassured him.
"Haha, you were always a part of this family. Thanks alot."
"Thank you, Auntie Zhou." Bao’er suddenly spoke.
"Is Bao’er going to school here?" Zhou Zhijun asked.
Chu You nodded, "Yes, I’ve already arranged for a school. After eating, I plan to take her there to have a look. She’ll start school officially tomorrow." The school Bao’er was to attend was an unboarding private school for the nobles. Chu You was confident about the transportation arrangements as the school provided a bus service.
After the three of them had their meal, Chu You left with Bao’er to visit the school. Chu You trusted this particular school as it had a reputable name and there were ongoing transactions with some of his corporations.
During this time, Bao’er voiced a wish, "Brother, can I... Can I not stay in sister Luo’s room?"
"Hehe, don’t worry. You’ll have your own room. I’ll have it decorated. However... it won’t have a personal bathroom." Bao’er seemed relieved at Chu You’s answer and didn’t seem to mind not having a personal bathroom.
The villa where Chu You lived had only three bedrooms with attached bathrooms, respectively occupied by Chu You, Lin Luor, and Zhou Zhijun. Other rooms didn’t have this facility. Bao’er would have to use the common bathroom if she wished to sleep in a different room. However, this wasn’t really an issue as the current occupants didn’t use it much.
The common bathroom had its perks. It was spacious, well-lit, and equipped with a large bathtub and shower facilities. In a way, it was more fully equipped compared to the private ones.
After coming back from the school and some shopping for some of Bao’er’s daily necessities, it was already 6 pm when they returned home.
Chu You brought Bao’er into his bedroom and pointed at the game pod. "This is where I work."
"This is the ’Celestial World,’ isn’t it?" Bao’er recognized it.
Chu You nodded, "Correct. So, I am often at home. If there are any emergencies, press this red button, and I will forcefully exit. Do you understand?"
Bao’er nodded in understanding.
"Generally, try not to press that button. My work is important. If you need something, just call me. I will receive your message in there. When you used to call me before, I was actually in here. Once I saw your call, I would call you back."
"Oh, so that’s why." Bao’er finally understood why Chu You often didn’t pick up her calls and instead, he would call her back later.
After explaining his side of things, he took Bao’er to the living room for dinner. Then they moved to Lin Luor’s room, presently Bao’er’s temporary room.
He taught Bao’er how to use a computer. She had already learned the basics at the orphanage, and she quickly grasped the instructions.
"Bao’er, the online world is very complex. Don’t engage with inappropriate content or strangers. You’re still very young and might easily lose your way. Don’t be curious about everything. The computer is a tool for you to study and answer your questions, not for anything else. In your free time, you can watch cartoons or something else but promise me, you won’t misuse it!" Chu You was serious as he gave the advice.
Bao’er nodded solemnly and whispered, "Don’t worry, Father. I’ll listen to you. I won’t be curious about anything."
Looking at the time, Chu You suppressed the urge to log in the game. He spent some more time with Bao’er before saying, "I think it’s time for me to retire to my room. Remember, you should go to sleep at 8:30. The school bus will come for you tomorrow, don’t give your teachers and classmates a bad first impression by being late."
"Sure, Father. I’m going to sleep now."
"Hehe, Bao’er is such a good girl."
...
When Chu You entered his bedroom, he budged up on his personal hygiene, smoked a cigarette, then stepped into his game pod. The dim and unlit room made the soft blue light from the game pod look mysteriously beautiful.
Taking a deep breath, Chu You finally lied into the game pod.
