Chapter 396: Chapter 397 Guardian

Chu You slightly turned the steering wheel, passing by the somewhat ’fiery’ regular car coming from the front. He took a few additional glances at the people in that car. His expression was indifferent.

After a while, the entrance to Youyou Orphanage came into his view. There were indeed guards at this place, but they were standing inside instead of outside, coldly observing the luxurious SUV.

If the visitor was a stranger, they would step out for an inquiry. If it was ’one of their own’ but someone they did not recognize, they did not need to open the gate since the visitor would have a special ’access card’ to open it by themselves.

As the head of the Tianchu Group, Chu You naturally owned this access card. The chip in his work ID contained a special privilege which could open the ’access control’ of all Tianchu Group premises. It was comparable to a golden key of Tianchu Group and there was only one such piece.

Watching the guard inside observing him with a vigilant look, Chu You did not honk the horn. Instead, he got out of the car and placed his work ID on the adjacent device. With a ’click’, the orphanage’s gate automatically opened.

Taking his work ID, he returned to the car. The expression of the guard inside finally eased. One of them flagged Chu You’s car to stop, "May I ask who you are and what brings you here?"

"Tell Director Liu that I’m Chu You and I’ve come to pick somebody up." After speaking, he handed his work ID to the guard.

Gazing at the exquisite and prestigious ID card, the guard dared not to touch it. His hands fluttered comically, uncertain whether to take it or not. After a quick glance, he immediately said respectfully, "Good day, sir. Please come in." He then cleared the way, and Chu You slowly drove in.

The guard went to the office to make a call to Director Liu: "Director, someone from the headquarters has arrived. I’m not sure who it is. He said his name is Chu You. He should be a senior executive. There are gold flower patterns on his card."

"What did you say? Repeat that? Chu You? How many people did he bring?" Director Liu was shocked. He had just dealt with a situation, and the Little Ancestor from Tianchu Group showed up?

Right, it must have been Bao’er who told Chu You about it. How else could it be possible!

After hanging up, he looked angrily at Teacher Cai and said, "Cai Qing, didn’t you promise me that Bao’er wouldn’t say anything? Now, the big boss is here... Sigh. Come with me." He was somewhat confused. If Chu You knew, why would he be alone?!

The teacher named Cai Qing was also shocked, even more so than Director Liu. She hastily walked out with Director Liu.

After Chu You parked the car and observed the surroundings, his heart skipped a beat. This time, was he going to take someone back with him??

Thinking of this, he took a deep breath and quickly walked in the familiar direction.

He arrived at the primary school building quite soon. His mind went blank as he climbed the stairs.

Finally, he arrived at the fourth floor, where Bao’er’s class was located. He could hear a teacher’s voice and the students’ voices.

His heart rate picked up. Chu You felt somewhat self-mocking about his sudden sense of nervousness.

Bao’er was listening to the class seriously. Just then, she noticed a figure outside the window from the corner of her eye. She initially thought it was another teacher passing by, but the figure remained there. An inexplicable shock hit her, the figure seemed familiar. Bao’er turned her big, dark, pearl-like eyes in that direction.

It felt like a bolt from the blue!

She opened her mouth slightly, her eyes filled with surprise and shock. Bao’er had never thought that the figure from her dreams would appear in reality, truly watching her.

Was her brother here already? Was she really leaving today? Leaving the park where she had lived for nearly seven years?!

Seeing Bao’er had noticed him, Chu You smiled slightly and waved at her. He then looked backward, gave one last glance, and disappeared from Bao’er’s sight.

"Sir, you should have informed us about your arrival." Old Liu said, sweating profusely with a pant. Teacher Cai behind him was smiling but she seemed nervous.

Chu You’s face was not as warm as before, he gave Old Liu a mocking smile in return, his expression quite cold.

"Old Liu, has Bao’er shown any abnormal behavior lately?" He asked, looking straight at Old Liu and ignoring his pleasantries.

"Uh..." Old Liu blinked. The words he had lined up to speak suddenly seemed stuck in his mouth. His hesitation was obvious.

Chu You eyes widened slightly, a flicker of surprise crossed him. Could there really be some ’inside information’? Considering Old Liu’s expression, he wondered.

His face fell instantly, "Old Liu, speak your mind."

He sighed inwardly, knowing his defensive wall had crumbled when he hesitated. Now he could only tell the truth because there was no room to maneuver. Too many people knew about it. Since the big boss had asked, Qin Fenghua, don’t blame Old Liu. You brought this upon yourself.

"Sigh!" He let out a heavy sigh, his face full of pain. This surprised Chu You. He immediately sensed that there must be a big problem and watched Old Liu keenly.

"I also found out about it this morning. I have already reported to the headquarters and requested the dismissal of Qin Fenghua. He has left."

"What exactly happened?"

"Well, here is the thing..."

Listening to Old Liu reel off the shocking secret, Chu You’s eyes were somewhat blank. If Zhao Feiyan had been present, she would have known that the ’other’ personality of the Night Ghost was already emerging.

"Boss, it’s my mistake, my failure of judgement, I’m analyzing myself deeply, I... I’ve let you down, Old Liu. Punish me however you see fit. I truly hadn’t imagined that Qin Fenghua could be such a person, boss, all the evidence is in the surveillance." Old Liu, already in his fifties, was abjectly apologizing to a younger man, a scene that was quite unsettling. But such is reality.

Just then, the bell signaling the end of class rang.

Looking at the silent Chu You, Old Liu was somewhat trembling with fear for an inexplicable reason, because no one in the group had ever seen this Little Ancestor lose his temper, and nobody really knew his temperament. But now he knew that this man who controlled over one hundred thousand jobs would show his wrath for the first time to his internal employees.

"Bro... President." An innocent voice suddenly suppressed the fiesty thoughts that were running rampant in Chu You’s mind.

Ever since she came to know that Chu You was just outside, Bao’er couldn’t concentrate in class at all, occasionally looking out of the window. Her feelings were complicated at the same time. She wanted time to pass quickly, and also wished for time to slow down, feeling somewhat confused.

But the moment still arrived. When the bell rang suddenly, Bao’er’s heart pounded uncontrollably. To be honest, she didn’t even know how she left her seat, as if she were guided by some sort of entity.

As soon as she stepped out, she saw Chu You, who, to her, was a towering figure. She opened her mouth to call him "brother", but seeing the presence of the director and other teachers, she quickly corrected herself.

The place suddenly burst into chaotic noise as the students were let out of class, chasing each other and playing in the corridors.

Chu You turned around, with a look of heartache on his face as he looked at the tense and petite Bao’er.

Bao’er, oh Bao’er, why didn’t you tell me!

"Bao’er, come here." His face finally softened into a gentle smile, and he beckoned her over with a wave of his hand.

"Hello, director. Hello, Teacher Cai." As soon as Bao’er approached, she greeted the other two.

"Bao’er, tell me the truth, did Teacher Qin really do it?" There was nothing special detectable in his voice.

Upon hearing this, Bao’er immediately lowered her head, looking at her own toes, and finally nodded silently.

Seeing this, Chu You looked up at the sky, then turned to Old Liu, his icy expression left no room for doubt as he said, "Keep the evidence safe, let’s leave this matter aside for now. I came here this time to take Bao’er away and become her sole guardian. Have someone handle this for me immediately."

"Sure thing, boss. I understand. I will have someone take care of it right away. Bao’er and you just need to sign some paperwork. Ahh... I’m truly at fault..."

"No more words." He raised his hand to stop Old Liu, then turned to Bao’er and gently said, "Bao’er, shall we leave?"

Bao’er nervously clutched the corner of her clothes with both hands. As things have come to this point, she hesitated. She felt afraid, fearing the unknown and the prospect of a new environment.

But after mere three seconds, Bao’er made up her mind and nodded physically at Chu You, "Okay."

Chu You mimicked Bao’er and also nodded his head, extending one hand. Seeing this, Bao’er pursed her lips and reached out to hold Chu You’s hand.

"Then let’s go." He said and led Bao’er downstairs while Old Liu and Teacher Cai followed anxiously.

The journey was quiet. After leaving the teaching building, Bao’er whispered, "I have stuff in my room."

Chu You slightly smiled, wondering what could she have, books? Or clothes? "Is it your cell phone?"

However, Bao’er shook her head, took out her cell phone, and said, "I need to get my clothes."

As expected, Chu You immediately said, "Leave them behind, say goodbye to your past and let big brother take you shopping for new dresses."

Hearing this, Bao’er fell silent.

Finally, they all walked towards the area where the cars were parked. During this process, Old Liu continuously reflected on his errors, pledging to reassess the quality of the teaching staff and so on.

After he opened the front passenger door to let Bao’er get in and then closed it, Chu You turned to Old Liu, he lowered his voice and said, "I will definitely settle this matter. Investigate whether this Qin Fenghua guy has done anything similar before. He has been working here for so many years, enough is enough."

He gave Old Liu a last deep look, turned around and left. Getting into the car, he gave Bao’er a slight smile before driving out the gate.

Old Liu understood what was being conveyed through that last look from Chu You. He knew that no matter what nice things were said previously, if he couldn’t find what the boss wanted, it would be time to leave.
