Chapter 78 You see, Cheng Zhiwei, no matter how much you fuss, you still have to obediently listen.

Chapter 78: Chapter 78 You see, Cheng Zhiwei, no matter how much you fuss, you still have to obediently listen.

Cheng Zhiwei seemed not to hear her at all and just stared at the entrance of the police station. She was waiting for Meng Qiancheng, only when Meng Qiancheng appeared before her eyes would she feel at ease.

So eager and hopeful.

That look in her eyes was particularly glaring to Zhou Lin, even causing him an inexplicable surge of anger.

After all, she still bore the title of his wife, yet she was so eager to see another man, truly disregarding him.

His cold eyes narrowed, Zhou Lin stepped forward and grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s hand, "What are you still doing here? Do I really need to ask you to leave?"

She wanted to stay here waiting for Meng Qiancheng, but he was determined not to let her have her way.

Cheng Zhiwei said nothing, just looked up at him. Her gaze was too calm and tranquil, undisturbed, with only her moist lashes and reddened eyes revealing her emotions at this moment.

Zhou Lin curved his lips slightly, his voice low and cool. He slowly leaned toward Cheng Zhiwei, so close that his breath entangled with hers, Cheng Zhiwei could smell the clear tobacco scent on him, "You see, Cheng Zhiwei, no matter how much you make a fuss, in the end, you have to obediently listen."

His malicious whisper was like a blunted knife, grinding away at Cheng Zhiwei’s nerves, one cut at a time.

However, the anticipated anger did not come, and Cheng Zhiwei still looked at him without a ripple.

"You..." Zhou Lin hated that look in her eyes, as if she were regarding a stranger.

But their entanglement was so deep, how could they be strangers?

Just as he was about to speak again, his fingers suddenly felt wet.

At the same time, Seo Zhenzhen cried out in alarm, "You’re bleeding."

Zhou Lin flinched, then looked down, only to see blood dripping down drop by drop.

His hand was covered in red.

He unconsciously let go, his gaze shaken, and the next second, he grasped Cheng Zhiwei’s wrist again, forcefully flipping her palm over, and the bleeding wound unexpectedly crashed into his view.

Just now, when Zhou Lin had grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s hand, his fingers had pressed right onto her wound, which was barely crusted over and immediately began bleeding profusely.

So much blood, clearly indicating how much it must hurt.

Yet she did not struggle or speak, enduring it like a piece of wood that couldn’t feel pain, and Zhou Lin didn’t notice right away.

Or perhaps, his entire focus was on how to torment Cheng Zhiwei, so he had not noticed her abnormality.

Now that he noticed, it was as though a switch had been flipped.

With just a slight bow of his head, he saw a few smears of red soaking into Cheng Zhiwei’s pants. She wore light grey pants today, and the spreading bloodstains stood out starkly against the fabric.

In a daze, Zhou Lin realized Cheng Zhiwei’s face was as pale as paper, thoroughly disheveled.

His heart gave a heavy thud.

Even speaking suddenly became difficult.

"Zhiwei, what’s wrong with you?" Seo Zhenzhen’s exclamatory and worried voices were timely, breaking the increasingly silent atmosphere. She wheeled herself forward, "With such a serious injury, you still ran here. Doesn’t it hurt?"

"Of course, she doesn’t feel the pain. After all, Meng Qiancheng has been locked up; she has to hurry to save him," Bai Zhuzhu deliberately spoke loudly.

She and Seo Zhenzhen truly were sisters; no sooner had one spoken than the other knew what was meant.

Together, they depicted how much Cheng Zhiwei valued Meng Qiancheng, or rather, how much she liked Meng Qiancheng, so much so that she could not even attend to her injuries and rushed here to save him.

The guilt at the bottom of Zhou Lin’s eyes suddenly dissipated, and his piercing eyes turned icy and pitiless. He stared at the bloodstains on her pants, his mood plummeting to its lowest.

Injured like this, she still rushed to rescue Meng Qiancheng, and then waited eagerly here...

A nameless anger rampaged through his body, scorching Zhou Lin’s reason.

"Ah Lin, we should hurry and take Zhiwei to the hospital. Delaying any longer, we don’t know what effects there might be, and besides, it’s always bad for a girl to have scars." Seo Zhenzhen’s soft voice was full of concern, her face even looked so sincere.

Zhou Lin frowned irritably, wanting to say she deserved it, but when the words reached his lips and his eyes met her distinct black and white pupils, he couldn’t say a word.

He gritted his teeth and rebuked the driver beside him, "Are you not going to get the car over here?"

The driver ran to fetch the car in a panic.

As the car approached, Zhou Lin grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s wrist, "Get in the car."

His action was fierce, yet he carefully avoided the wound on her palm.

Cheng Zhiwei had a dull expression, silently getting into the car.

Zhou Lin turned to look at Seo Zhenzhen.

Seo Zhenzhen spoke before him, "Don’t worry about me, Ah Lin. Hurry and take Zhiwei to the hospital, don’t delay. The wound is what’s important."

Gentle and generous, understanding.

Zhou Lin nodded and instructed, "Secretary Zhang will take you home. Send me a message when you get there."

"I know. Go on," Seo Zhenzhen urged with a smile.

The car left.

Bai Zhuzhu glared at Seo Zhenzhen resentfully, "Are you stupid? Letting Brother Lin take that bitch Cheng Zhiwei to the hospital. This is the time you should be trying to make Brother Lin hate Cheng Zhiwei. It would be best if they got a divorce."

She had little regard for Seo Zhenzhen’s cautious nature.

The smile on Seo Zhenzhen’s face gradually faded, "Bai Zhuzhu, if you don’t listen and keep causing me trouble, I won’t mind sending you back to your hometown."

Bai Zhuzhu bit her lip in anger, "You wouldn’t dare."

Seo Zhenzhen’s sharp gaze fell on her face as she sneered coldly, "If it hadn’t been for your presumption in bragging in front of Cheng Zhiwei, even if she suspected the anonymous report was related to us, Ah Lin wouldn’t care. He would only think Cheng Zhiwei was deliberately framing me, and would dislike Cheng Zhiwei even more. But now, Ah Lin feels guilty towards Cheng Zhiwei. It’s all your fault, you fool. You’ve ruined my perfect plan."

Bai Zhuzhu was unconvinced, "With your relationship with Brother Lin, if you just ask, he will definitely divorce Cheng Zhiwei. I don’t understand why you bother with these schemes. They’re useless and waste time."

Seo Zhenzhen’s hands clenched into fists, resting on her knees, her expression ice cold. Why all the scheming? Of course, it was because of the excruciating treatments over the past three years, all thanks to Cheng Zhiwei.

Why should Cheng Zhiwei be able to just get a divorce and not have to touch any suffering?

"That bitch Cheng Zhiwei, she even resorted to using a self-harming strategy," Bai Zhuzhu complained indignantly, then she looked down at Seo Zhenzhen’s legs and sneered contemptuously. When it came to using self-harming strategies, a hundred Cheng Zhiweis couldn’t compare to one Seo Zhenzhen, but Seo Zhenzhen was useless and just watched as Zhou Lin took Cheng Zhiwei away.

Cheng Zhiwei curled up in the seat, her forehead resting against the window, eyes closed as if asleep.

Zhou Lin knew she wasn’t asleep; she probably couldn’t accept her own failure and thus didn’t want to open her eyes.

He sat upright on the other side, in good shape, a stark contrast to the disheveled and lifeless Cheng Zhiwei.

The car arrived at the hospital.

Zhou Lin got out of the car and waited a while with no movement, then he looked back inside. Cheng Zhiwei was still in the same position, unmoved.

"Cheng Zhiwei, get out of the car," Zhou Lin urged impatiently.

Cheng Zhiwei shifted slightly, her eyes slowly opening with confusion, as if she had suddenly struggled out of a nightmare, and got out of the car sluggishly.
