The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 75 Could it be jealousy?

Chapter 75: Chapter 75 Could it be jealousy?

Zhou Lin’s agreement was obviously conditional.

Cheng Zhiwei asked, "What does he want?"

"He wants you to agree to let Bai Zhuzhu go," Lin Yu said.

Cheng Zhiwei sneered silently in her heart but maintained a calm facade, "I do not agree."

"I have already met with Seo Zhenzhen. She said she’s willing to stay abroad forever and never come back." Lin Yu tried to persuade Cheng Zhiwei, as she was reluctant to let go of Cheng Zhiwei as a daughter-in-law.

Moreover, she didn’t like Seo Zhenzhen. Although Seo Zhenzhen masked it well, she was still young and couldn’t completely hide her thoughts.

Lin Yu could confidently say that even without Cheng Zhiwei, she wouldn’t allow Zhou Lin to marry Seo Zhenzhen.

Cheng Zhiwei still shook her head. She knew very well that even though Seo Zhenzhen agreed to never return, as soon as Bai Zhuzhu was released, Seo would find a reason to stay. After all, her legs were broken; who could really force her to leave?

"I understand," Lin Yu nodded. "I’ll talk to Ah Lin again about the divorce."

"Thank you."

Zhou Lin was still in the hospital when Lin Yu brought up the divorce in person, "Last time I asked you about it, you said you wouldn’t divorce. Yet you keep hurting Zhiwei time and again for Seo Zhenzhen. When her mother brought this up, I was truly embarrassed. Pick a time in the next few days to get it done."

For the sake of Zhou Lin’s well-being, she couldn’t keep tormenting Cheng Zhiwei.

Zhou Lin looked out the window, his expression indifferent, exposing no emotion, "This is between her and me, please don’t get involved."

Lin Yu heard it; Zhou Lin had no plan to divorce.

She was becoming increasingly unable to fathom Zhou Lin’s thoughts. Initially, she mistook his refusal to divorce as having feelings for Cheng Zhiwei, but all the incidents proved that he didn’t care for Cheng Zhiwei.

If that was the case, why not divorce?

"I’ll talk to your father about it," Lin Yu could only think of this.

The marriage had been a result of pressure from Zhou Chenyuan. If Zhou Chenyuan relaxed his stance, perhaps Zhou Lin would agree to the divorce.

Zhou Lin, however, shifted away from this topic, asking, "Mom, do you know Meng Qiancheng?"

Lin Yu paused, her well-maintained face filled with confusion. "Meng Qiancheng, your Uncle Lin highly regards him, saying he is exceptionally gifted and a promising talent."

A corner of Zhou Lin’s lips curved into a cold smile. Such an exceptionally gifted, hospital dean-approved promising talent could not cure Cheng Zhiwei’s throat, hmm.

"Why are you asking about him?" Lin Yu became interested.

Nominally, Meng Qiancheng was Cheng Zhiwei’s ’brother’, the kind without blood ties.

Could it be jealousy?

There were some things Zhou Lin wouldn’t tell Lin Yu, just the usual admonishment, "Stay away from him."

Lin Yu scrutinized Zhou Lin’s expression, her mind working quickly, and deliberately praised, "What did Meng Qiancheng do to you? You’re telling me to stay away from him, but I think he’s a good person."

Zhou Lin’s face darkened a shade. How could his mother also think Meng Qiancheng was a good person?

"Are you very familiar with him that you think he’s a good person?" Zhou Lin’s tone was not very pleasant.

"You can’t just tell me to stay away from him without a reason. Besides, I’ve known Meng Qiancheng for several years. He even cured your second uncle’s illness when he was abroad."

Zhou Lin keenly caught the key in Lin Yu’s words, "Second uncle?"

Zhou Lin’s second uncle, Zhou Chenyan, had been receiving treatment abroad for health reasons. The recent trip abroad by Zhou Chenyuan and Lin Yu had been for this reason.

"Yes, your second uncle was doing much better under Meng Qiancheng’s treatment, but since Meng Qiancheng returned to the country, he relapsed. I’ve already talked to Meng Qiancheng and arranged for him to see your second uncle once every three months." Lin Yu thought there was no need to hide these things from Zhou Lin, so he told him everything.

Zhou Lin’s hands were stuffed into his pockets, and his expression grew even colder. It seemed that Meng Qiancheng’s range of services was indeed wide.

Zhou Chenyan had a mental illness, which was not easy to treat.

"Cheng Zhiwei had throat problems before, and Meng Qiancheng treated him. It kept recurring and didn’t heal because, according to Zhang Yuanheng, the wrong medication was used," Zhou Lin said, trying to make Lin Yu aware.

Yet Lin Yu responded, "I know about that, he told me it was the nurse’s carelessness, getting the medication wrong."

Zhou Lin narrowed his eyes and said nothing more.

He didn’t know what Meng Qiancheng was up to, but if he planned to harm the Zhou family, Zhou Lin would crush him first.

"I’ll have the driver take you back." He said no more.

Lin Yu nodded, "When you go back, remember to take Zhiwei with you. She has been working hard these past few days. I have already arranged for a nurse to come, so let her go back and rest."

"Understood."

Zhou Lin did as promised. Once the nurse arrived, he practically carried Cheng Zhiwei out of the ward.

Cheng Zhiwei’s mood soured upon seeing him, and her face fell, "What are you doing?"

Zhou Lin took her straight downstairs and pushed her into the car, "Going home."

Cheng Zhiwei almost wished she could bite him. In the past, when she liked him, he was cold-faced every day. Now that she had decided to divorce, he kept popping up every now and then.

It was annoying.

"I know you’re being nice to me only because of mom’s instructions, Zhou Lin, and you really don’t have to." Cheng Zhiwei looked aside at Zhou Lin, her gaze direct, "Don’t worry, I won’t gossip."

He didn’t need to stick by her side all the time.

Zhou Lin glanced at her without expression, "The nurse has been arranged well and can take good care of mom. Do you have to parade around with dark circles under your eyes, trying to touch yourself?"

His words were becoming increasingly venomous.

Undaunted, Cheng Zhiwei glared at him fiercely, "Mind your own business."

Zhou Lin looked ahead at the road, laughing sardonically, "You still bear the title of Young Madam Zhou, do you want to be the laughingstock?"

"Not for long," Cheng Zhiwei replied coldly. With Lin Yu and Guo Cuihua in the picture, she didn’t believe she couldn’t get out of this marriage.

Thinking it over, she felt an uncomfortable sense of suffocation in her heart, "Young Madam Zhou? Who knows that I’m Young Madam Zhou?"

Zhou Lin glanced at her then drove straight back to Sparkling Sky City.

After dinner, Cheng Zhiwei went upstairs to sleep. With matters weighing on her mind, she couldn’t sleep for long and woke up around eight in the evening. She casually draped a shawl over her nightgown before going downstairs, intending to have a drink of water and find something to eat.

As soon as she descended, she saw Zhou Lin. He was sitting on the sofa, looking at his phone.

Quite a surprise, he was actually at home and even in the living room.

Cheng Zhiwei withdrew her gaze and entered the kitchen. Wang Mei knew Cheng Zhiwei’s habits, so there was still chicken soup warming in the kitchen. Lifting the lid, a rich aroma wafted through the air.

Cheng Zhiwei served herself a bowl and leaned against the counter, sipping slowly. The chicken soup was truly delicious; after several days in An City eating food that didn’t agree with her, tasting Wang Mei’s cooking now felt so comforting that it seemed to open up every pore in her body, eliciting a long, contented sigh.

After the divorce, she wouldn’t be able to live here anymore and would never taste Wang Mei’s cooking again. Thinking about it made her feel a tinge of melancholy.

Once she finished the soup, she decided to go upstairs.
