Chapter 72: Chapter 72 Taking Advantage of Cheng Zhiwei to Fish Properly
"Even if you and Seo Zhenzhen tumbled in bed together, I wouldn’t be jealous." She glared at him venomously, her tone very heavy, "Zhou Lin, let me make this clearer, I won’t be jealous over you, because I don’t like you anymore, understand?"
The air became oppressively quiet. In that moment, it seemed like all other sounds had faded away, leaving only Cheng Zhiwei’s breathing, heavy with anger.
Zhou Lin’s gaze was dark and frightening.
Cheng Zhiwei turned coldly and walked away. She truly didn’t want to spend another moment with this self-righteous jerk.
However, she had only taken one step when her wrist was grabbed, and suddenly her entire body was pinned against the wall.
Zhou Lin’s face loomed large before her, followed by a painful kiss, fierce as if forced, her wrist restrained, even her body trapped between the wall and Zhou Lin’s chest, unable to move an inch.
Cheng Zhiwei struggled fiercely, but all it brought was Zhou Lin biting her harder, until the taste of iron filled her mouth.
Breath heavy and entangled.
A feeling of humiliation surged straight to her heart, making Cheng Zhiwei feel like her chest was about to explode. Powerless to break free, her eyes welled up with tears in desperation.
Zhou Lin tasted the saltiness of her tears.
His movements paused, his eyes flashing with surprise, and he released Cheng Zhiwei.
What had he just done...
It was Cheng Zhiwei’s words that triggered his emotional loss of control, and then he kissed her...
"Slap."
Cheng Zhiwei slapped him across the face, blood still at the corner of her mouth, eyes red, hair in disarray, "Zhou Lin, if you want to do it, go find Seo Zhenzhen. If she’s not up for it, there’s always Bai Zhuzhu, who I’m sure would be more than willing."
The name Seo Zhenzhen was like cold water, extinguishing Zhou Lin’s raging desire instantly.
His face turned extremely ugly, staring dead at Cheng Zhiwei.
As if it was Cheng Zhiwei who had seduced him into losing control just now.
His gaze paused slightly, and through the crack of the stairwell door, a shadowy figure flitted by.
Zhou Lin raised his hand to wipe his lips, a rogue-like smirk appearing, "Cheng Zhiwei, I’ve told you, unless you return Zhenzhen to me unharmed, divorce is impossible."
Cheng Zhiwei exploded with even more anger, her chest heaving violently, fists clenched tight, "Zhou Lin."
Zhou Lin gave her a cold glance and strode away, leaving Cheng Zhiwei alone, in tears.
Half an hour later, Secretary Zhang hurried into the car and turned to look at the expressionless Zhou Lin in the back seat, "Our people saw Meng Qiancheng enter the stairwell, and not long after that, he was helping the Young Madam out."
Zhou Lin scoffed coldly, his voice dripping with disdain, "He truly knows how to sneak in everywhere."
"Should we remind the Young Madam?"
"Remind her for what." Zhou Lin thought and felt a liverache from anger. For Meng Qiancheng’s sake, she saw him as a flood beast; why should he even bother with her, especially when he had warned her multiple times to stay away from Meng Qiancheng, and she just wouldn’t listen.
"But..."
Zhou Lin snorted coldly, the car filled with a bloodthirsty aura, "Since he wants to make use of Cheng Zhiwei, I shall use Cheng Zhiwei to properly bait this fish."
He wanted to see what Meng Qiancheng was truly up to.
Secretary Zhang’s shoulders shuddered, and after thinking it over, he still felt sorry and cautiously tried to advise, "The person who jumped off the building was captured on monitoring two streets away, and it caught Meng Qiancheng. If we tell the Young Madam, I think she will understand."
Zhou Lin sneered. Considering Cheng Zhiwei’s boundless trust in Meng Qiancheng, if he told her, she would likely go straight back and recount everything to Meng Qiancheng as it was.
Moreover, it happened two streets away; Cheng Zhiwei would only think he was framing Meng Qiancheng.
"If she wants a divorce, then wait until this matter is over to divorce, and give her one more compensation," Zhou Lin said nonchalantly, settling the matter.
Secretary Zhang wanted to advise further but, seeing Zhou Lin’s face, ultimately chose to remain silent.
Cheng Zhiwei returned to the hospital ward with a very bad complexion, and Guo Cuihua gave Meng Qiancheng a questioning look. Meng Qiancheng shook his head and said nothing.
"Zhiwei, what’s wrong?" Guo Cuihua asked with concern.
Coming back to reality, Cheng Zhiwei realized that her trance might have caused her complexion to worsen, which worried Guo Cuihua. She hurriedly composed herself, "I’m fine, I was just thinking about a TV show I watched earlier."
Guo Cuihua knew she wasn’t telling the truth, but it wasn’t good to press further, so she urged her to go back to the hotel to rest.
Cheng Zhiwei wasn’t in a good mood. Staying in the hospital would only cause concern, and since Cheng Shang had also arrived, she left.
As she left the hospital, Meng Qiancheng caught up to her, "Weiwei."
Cheng Zhiwei turned to look at him.
The rising morning sun cast a soft light on them. Up close, he could see that her lips were still slightly swollen, even cracked at the corners—clear signs that she had been bullied.
A feeling called jealousy instantly clawed at his heart.
Meng Qiancheng took an involuntary step towards her, reaching out to touch her lips, "Weiwei, you..."
Cheng Zhiwei turned her face away, her resistance clear.
Meng Qiancheng’s face changed, and he looked at her with added heartache, "I’m sorry, I’m late."
"I’m going to rest now, Brother Qiancheng. You go ahead with your work," Cheng Zhiwei said softly, not wanting to bring up the matter again as she quickly disappeared into the crowd.
Meng Qiancheng watched her retreating figure, feeling a growing aggression within him.
Zhou Lin, you truly deserve to die.
After taking a shower, Cheng Zhiwei lay in bed, but sleep eluded her.
Each time she closed her eyes, she heard Zhou Lin’s words, "Unless you return Zhenzhen to me unharmed, there’s no way we’ll get a divorce."
Such cold-hearted indifference.
Seo Zhenzhen’s car accident was an accident; was that so hard to believe?
It was all Zhou Lin’s paranoia.
As her thoughts multiplied, Cheng Zhiwei felt as though her head was about to explode. She told herself not to think about it, but the more she did, the more she thought.
Those words entangled her like a curse.
She didn’t know how she eventually fell asleep, and it wasn’t a peaceful sleep—her consciousness kept jumping back and forth between dreams and reality.
In the crisp autumn season, even in the mountains, Cheng Zhiwei somehow managed to wake up drenched in sweat.
Her headache was unbearable.
The knocking on the door went on for a long time before Cheng Zhiwei sluggishly moved to open it.
Meng Qiancheng’s warm palm rested on her forehead as he asked with concern, "Weiwei, are you alright? You’re so pale."
Cheng Zhiwei shook her groggy head before saying, "I’m fine, what’s up?"
"I was going to ask if you wanted to accompany me to a wedding to clear your mind," Meng Qiancheng sighed tenderly, "but seeing you unwell, let’s forget it."
He guided Cheng Zhiwei toward the room, "I won’t go either; I’ll stay with you."
Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t help but laugh and cry, "You’re here just to attend a wedding, it wouldn’t be right if you don’t go. I’ll stay, I need to go to the hospital."
"Your uncle is there, and you look so pale. Auntie would be worried," he replied.
"Brother Qiancheng, I’m fine," Cheng Zhiwei insisted with a forced smile, "Since my dad is there, I might as well sleep a little longer."
"But..."
