The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 63: Do You Really Want to Become Mute?

Chapter 63: Chapter 63: Do You Really Want to Become Mute?

Cheng Zhiwei underwent another check-up pressed by Zhou Lin.

The results from Zhang Yuanheng were the same as Meng Qiancheng’s, both indicating her throat was getting better, speaking wasn’t a problem, to continue taking her medication, and she would recover soon.

Cheng Zhiwei felt thoroughly relieved, her eyes brightened, she asked almost impatiently, "Can I sing now?"

This was what she cared about the most. The rest of the team had basically finished their recordings; it was just left to her and Bai Zhuzhu. Considering Bai Zhuzhu’s current situation, He Ye intended to hand the ending theme to Cheng Zhiwei as well.

Moreover, He Ye had already rewritten the lyrics and composed the music.

"Cheng Zhiwei, do you want to become mute?" Without even thinking, Zhou Lin directly rejected Cheng Zhiwei’s dangerous thought, "I won’t allow it."

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t even look at him. Her issues didn’t need Zhou Lin’s unsolicited advice.

She looked hopefully at Zhang Yuanheng, "Is it possible?"

Zhang Yuanheng touched his nose; he was somewhat afraid of Zhou Lin and hesitated to speak.

"Why are you looking at him? This is my business." Cheng Zhiwei said irritably.

Zhang Yuanheng cautiously said, "It’s better not to."

Cheng Zhiwei then didn’t say anything more.

Zhou Lin grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s clothes, "Let’s go home."

Cheng Zhiwei swatted his hand away and furrowed her brows, pulling out her phone, "I’ve already arranged to go shopping with Xu Tian."

She wasn’t going back.

Although she didn’t understand why Zhou Lin was acting so crazily early in the morning, insisting on following her, Cheng Zhiwei knew that Zhou Lin wouldn’t accompany her shopping.

Sure enough, Zhou Lin frowned, "Call me when you’re done, and I’ll come pick you up to go home."

With every phrase mentioning going home, Cheng Zhiwei responded sarcastically and indifferently, "We’ll see."

Ten minutes later, Xu Tian arrived, and her first words upon seeing Zhou Lin were cutting, "Oh, look, Young President Zhou is also here."

After the last incident, her attitude towards Zhou Lin had worsened.

Zhou Lin gave her a cold glance and walked away.

Cheng Zhiwei asked Zhang Yuanheng, "What time do you get off work?"

"Five o’clock, I guess."

"Then I will try to come find you before five." Cheng Zhiwei left with Xu Tian.

"Huh?" Zhang Yuanheng touched his head, completely bewildered.

Cheng Zhiwei said five o’clock because she was now heading to He Ye’s studio to record a song, and she asked in case something happened to her throat.

At He Ye’s studio, He Ye checked on Cheng Zhiwei’s throat with concern and ensuring she could sing before taking her inside.

Cheng Zhiwei’s throat was fine for speaking, but singing was still a challenge, especially with the high notes in the song. After recording the first song, she started to feel discomfort in her throat.

After listening to the playback, He Ye modified a few parts and asked Cheng Zhiwei to sing again.

Once finished, her voice immediately became hoarse, which was evident when she spoke.

This was not a normal occurrence.

"Zhiwei, your throat..." Xu Tian got a shock and hurriedly handed her water, "Quick, hydrate."

"I’m fine, it’s just dry; drinking some water will help." Cheng Zhiwei lied, she didn’t want to wait any longer, she feared that Wen Ya might replace her if things were delayed.

He Ye looked at her and advised gently, "If you’re not comfortable, take a rest first."

"Thank you, senior, I am fine." Cheng Zhiwei picked up another notebook, this position was meant for Bai Zhuzhu. But since Bai Zhuzhu got taken away by the police a second time, Wen Ya directly terminated the contract with Zhuzhu’s side. She liked Cheng Zhiwei a lot, so she let Cheng Zhiwei continue singing in that position.

Originally, Cheng Zhiwei was also selected during the initial audition.

An opportunity that had come her way, Cheng Zhiwei naturally would not easily give up.

"You want to sing today?" He Ye frowned, speaking gently, "How about waiting a few more days? Rest your throat; we’re not in a hurry."

"Do you hear my voice, how it’s all rough and hoarse," Xu Tian suggested actively. "Don’t you think such a voice singing this song will render the emotions even more fittingly?"

"But you..."

"I’m fine." Cheng Zhiwei emphasized again, her eyes shining brightly like stars.

She was filled with such anticipation.

He Ye found himself unconsciously moved by her emotions and nodded in agreement, "Okay."

The song was He Ye’s new piece and Cheng Zhiwei had just received it a few days ago. She wasn’t completely familiar with it and struggled at the beginning, but soon she found her groove.

As she mentioned, her raspy voice added more emotion, and even the staff had teary eyes, looking at Cheng Zhiwei with admiration.

He Ye was even more excited, "I knew I didn’t misjudge her."

Xu Tian couldn’t help but stand beside him, equally happy, "As long as Zhiwei is willing, she can always shine and radiate warmth."

However, Cheng Zhiwei’s condition deteriorated after she finished singing.

As soon as she left the recording studio, she couldn’t control herself any longer and began to cough violently, clutching her throat, her agonized appearance frightening everyone.

She tried to hold it in, but couldn’t help coughing up blood, tears streaming down her face from the discomfort.

"Zhiwei."

"My God."

"Go start the car."

In the midst of the chaos, strong arms pushed through the crowd around Cheng Zhiwei, scooping her up, but the face was as dark as the bottom of a pot, covered with frost.

It was Zhou Lin.

Xu Tian instinctively blocked him, "Zhou Lin, what are you doing? Can’t you see Zhiwei is not feeling well?"

"I’m taking her to the hospital, get out of the way." Zhou Lin’s gaze was icy cold.

"Let her go, I’ll take her to the hospital." Xu Tian refused to back down; in her mind, Zhou Lin was never good to Cheng Zhiwei, so why would he suddenly kindly take her to the hospital?

Zhou Lin kicked out and if it hadn’t been for He Ye’s quick reflexes to pull her away, Xu Tian would have been kicked squarely and surely injured.

Xu Tian was furious, ready to chase after him, but was held back by He Ye, "Don’t waste time, we’ll just follow his car."

Xu Tian had no choice but to agree.

It was four o’clock in the afternoon, Zhang Yuanheng hadn’t finished work yet. Seeing Cheng Zhiwei, he mumbled, "So this is what you meant by coming to see me before I get off work."

Zhou Lin shot him a deadly glare, "What did she tell you?"

Zhang Yuanheng immediately felt guilty but still told the truth, "Right after you two left, the Young Madam specifically asked me what time I get off work, saying she would try to come by before five."

Zhou Lin tightened his grip on Cheng Zhiwei in his arms, his expression turning ugly, his gaze even more piercing, "So you really want to become mute?"

Cheng Zhiwei tried to pry his hand away, wasn’t that what he hoped for, that she’d become mute? She was so angry, "It’s none of your business."

Zhang Yuanheng quickly intervened, "Young President Zhou, please let go, I need to prescribe medicine for the Young Madam, don’t delay the treatment."

Zhou Lin looked coldly at Cheng Zhiwei, "If she is willing to become mute herself, why should you treat her at all?"

But he eventually let go.

Zhang Yuanheng immediately examined Cheng Zhiwei.

At this time, Xu Tian and He Ye arrived together.

Xu Tian glared fiercely at Zhou Lin and rushed over to check on Cheng Zhiwei, "Zhiwei, how are you?"

Cheng Zhiwei pointed to her mouth indicating she couldn’t speak for the moment, but she patted Xu Tian reassuringly, asking her not to worry.

Xu Tian’s eyes reddened, and she asked accusingly, "You clearly knew your throat wasn’t healed, why did you lie to me?"

Cheng Zhiwei blinked apologetically.
