The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife -
Chapter 470: That is Your Choice
Chapter 470: Chapter 470: That is Your Choice
Bai Xue was dazed by the scorn in Ding Kun’s demeanor.
He had always been gentle with her, always prioritizing her needs, and he had never spoken to her with such coldness.
Now, he was speaking harshly to her because of Cheng Zhiwei.
Bai Xue felt a surreal feeling in her heart, an anger as if something of hers had been stolen.
"Ding Kun," she took a deep breath to prevent herself from losing composure in public and whispered, "Do you know she’s been divorced and has two children, and even her ex-husband is wealthy and powerful?"
She had investigated Cheng Zhiwei.
Ding Kun looked at the woman he had once loved, her beautiful face now filled with repellent loathing.
Any trace of tenderness in his heart had completely vanished.
He coldly said, "Bai Xue, mind your own business."
Bai Xue clenched her fists, her anger causing her teeth to clench, "Ding Kun, I am doing this for your own good."
She paused, then continued, "If you really want to continue working here, I can go to Wen Jie and have you transferred to another position."
Ding Kun laughed derisively; how could she have the audacity to say that?
His current predicament was all her doing, wasn’t it?
"No need," he said sarcastically, "I dare not accept help from Miss Bai."
"Ding Kun," Bai Xue angrily called his name, "don’t bite the hand that feeds you."
At that moment, Cheng Zhiwei and Wen Jie came out.
Wen Jie’s expression was unpleasant; it seemed Cheng Zhiwei had won this round of confrontation.
Seeing Bai Xue standing next to Ding Kun, Wen Jie’s face soured, and Bai Xue, somewhat flustered, bit her lip and walked over.
"Cheng Zhiwei, I didn’t realize you were so capable," Wen Jie said darkly, glancing at Ding Kun, "Watch yourself."
Cheng Zhiwei ignored him, returned Ding Kun’s work badge, and patted his shoulder, "Agent, you need to try harder."
Ding Kun nodded, his eyes red.
In the following days, Ding Kun worked tirelessly like a spinning top. This event finally spurred his growth. During meetings, he was no longer the invisible man in the corner, but boldly clashed with veteran agents for resources, exuding a decisive air.
Cheng Zhiwei was satisfied and began to accept Ding Kun’s arrangements, pointing out flaws, which Ding Kun immediately corrected with better proposals.
In a blink of an eye, half a month had passed.
On a rare day off, as Cheng Zhiwei was leaving work, a white car pulled up.
The window rolled down halfway, revealing a man’s stern face.
Zhou Lin had come to pick up Cheng Zhiwei from work.
He had been discharged from the hospital a couple of days earlier and had not taken charge in Yucheng but had followed Cheng Zhiwei to Sea City.
As for the company in Yucheng, Zhou Jinzhong was currently managing it.
Several executives had approached Zhou Lin, hoping he would return, but Zhou Lin had refused.
Of course, he hadn’t really abandoned it; after all, it was his grandfather’s and father’s legacy, but he had no immediate plans to get involved.
He was curious to see what Zhou Jinzhong could stir up.
Zhou Lin opened the car door for Cheng Zhiwei.
After closing the door, he was just about to walk around to the driver’s side.
Suddenly, someone behind him said, "You must be Cheng Zhiwei’s boyfriend, right? Do you know she’s very close to her agent at the company?"
Zhou Lin turned and looked at the woman who had approached, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh?" His tone was ambiguous.
Ding Kun immediately said, "Bai Xue, don’t talk nonsense."
"Whether I’m talking nonsense, you know very well," Bai Xue said scornfully, wearing sunglasses, a sneer on her lips, "Ding Kun, if it’s not that kind of relationship, why would she help you?"
"You..."
"I know more about her matters than you do," Zhou Lin interrupted them, speaking slowly and with poise.
"Of course, if you don’t mind being cuckolded, suit yourself; I’m just kindly warning you," Bai Xue said maliciously.
Zhou Lin looked at Cheng Zhiwei strangely, "Is she jealous of you?"
Cheng Zhiwei watched the drama unfold lazily nodding, "Seems like it."
"Who’s jealous of you?" Bai Xue stamped her foot.
"I am her husband, and I know more about her and Ding Kun’s situation than you do," Zhou Lin said, not wanting to waste more words, and drove off.
"Cheng Zhiwei was married?" onlookers whispered.
Their gazes towards Bai Xue were full of contempt.
"That was Zhou Lin," someone recognized Zhou Lin, "the one from Yucheng, the one involved in the scandal a few days ago, don’t you know?"
"Weren’t they divorced?"
"Does this look like they were divorced?" someone loudly said, "Some people really have bad intentions, but unfortunately, this time they’ve hit a snag."
Bai Xue turned pale.
As they sat in the car, Cheng Zhiwei said somewhat helplessly, "Why didn’t you rest at home instead of coming here?"
Now everyone probably knew he was around.
Zhou Lin casually said, "I’ve set up a studio for you, take a look when you’re free."
Cheng Zhiwei was momentarily stunned, a studio?
Zhou Lin touched her cheek, "Struggling for resources with those people is a waste of time; you might as well focus on your music."
His words made a lot of sense, and Cheng Zhiwei was deeply moved.
This way, she would have more time to spend with her children.
She half-jokingly asked, "Why are you suddenly being so nice to me?"
Zhou Lin’s stern expression softened with a smile, "It’s compensation for my guilt."
Her dreams, he was determined to support.
Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes moistened, she turned to look out the window.
Belatedly received, it was heartbreaking, but she accepted it nonetheless.
"I want Ding Kun to continue being my agent," Cheng Zhiwei said indifferently.
Zhou Lin agreed.
He wasn’t as jealous as before.
With the matter settled, Cheng Zhiwei resigned.
Ding Kun quickly packed his things and left the company. As he entered the elevator, he ran into Bai Xue.
She was frantically trying to put on sunglasses, but Ding Kun still saw the bruise around her eye.
He asked instinctively, "Who bullied you?"
Bai Xue looked haggard, her voice hoarse and shrill, "You must be very pleased now, Ding Kun, because of Cheng Zhiwei, I now have nothing."
The scene where she had instigated trouble at the company’s entrance had been uploaded online, causing her to lose numerous followers, and several projects had been reclaimed by the company. Even Wen Jie had found another woman and physically abused her.
The injury around her eye came from that.
Unlike her disheveled state, Ding Kun was thriving, reportedly about to independently manage a studio.
Under Bai Xue’s bitter questioning, Ding Kun’s expression remained unchanged, merely saying indifferently, "That was your choice."
Bai Xue simply removed her sunglasses, revealing the injuries on her face, her tone filled with misery and weakness, she clutched his sleeve forcefully, "Ding Kun, can you take me away from here?"
"Ding."
The elevator reached the ground floor.
The door opened.
