Chapter 469: Chapter 469: Completely Give Up Hope
"Terminated?"
Ding Kun had been at the company for a week, wasn’t it a day short of that? How could he have been fired already?
She rushed back expressly because of Ding Kun’s departure.
The girl hesitated, then whispered, "Haven’t you been away for several days? People have been saying you must be kept by some man. Ding Kun fought that guy and was fired, now he’s still in the police station."
Cheng Zhiwei: "...Police station?"
She had barely survived outside, and meanwhile, rumors were flying at the company.
And Ding Kun had even ended up in the police station...
How miserable.
"Who said such things?"
"It was... Wen Jie." The girl whispered, looking nervously around. "Wen Jie publicly maligned you, Ding Kun hit him, then he called the police claiming Ding Kun intentionally injured him, had the police take Ding Kun away, and even said he wanted Ding Kun to rot in jail."
"Just don’t say I told you."
She hurriedly left.
Cheng Zhiwei stood still for a while, finally realizing why she couldn’t get in touch with Ding Kun—so he was still at the police station.
Poor kid.
Cheng Zhiwei immediately decided to go find him.
"Wait." Bai Xue’s voice came through, her makeup impeccable as if she had just returned from outside.
Cheng Zhiwei didn’t particularly like her, so she said coldly, "What is it?"
"You’re going to see Ding Kun." Bai Xue said this with certainty, and in an even colder tone, said, "Tell him, if he’s willing to leave this industry, I’ll find a way to get Wen Jie to drop the charges."
Cheng Zhiwei raised an eyebrow mockingly at her, "Miss Bai, quite ruthless of you. He entered this business because of you, and now you want him to leave the industry for your sake?"
Bai Xue’s pretty face remained expressionless, "He has been in this circle for three years and has made no progress, still that dumb look, how can he survive? I’m doing this for his own good."
"Miss Bai is so noble." Cheng Zhiwei laughed sarcastically.
Bai Xue coldly snorted, "This industry is like this, survival of the fittest, the likes of him can only be eliminated. I’m doing this for his good, not to waste his time here."
Her tone sounded somewhat affectionate, almost as if she truly had Ding Kun’s best interests in heart.
Unfortunately, Cheng Zhiwei knew that Bai Xue’s words were only to keep Ding Kun from bothering her and Wen Jie, yet she made it sound so righteous.
"I’ll relay your message to him, but Miss Bai, I think, things might not go as you wish." Cheng Zhiwei walked a few steps then stopped, her back turned, she said coldly, "Those who trample on others’ sincerity will be struck by lightning."
Bai Xue’s expression darkened.
Cheng Zhiwei rushed to the police station, and after completing the procedures, went to see Ding Kun, a tall young man curled up in a corner, looking utterly despondent.
Overwhelmed with grief.
Cheng Zhiwei frowned and kicked his leg, "Stand up."
Ding Kun was startled, then suddenly looked up, disbelievingly staring at Cheng Zhiwei, his eyes reddening, his voice hoarse, "Sister, you’re back."
Cheng Zhiwei intended to scold him for being spineless, but seeing him so pitifully, swallowed her words back, disdainfully saying, "Come out."
Ding Kun followed with his head down, and on realizing Cheng Zhiwei had already bailed him out, burst into tears.
Cheng Zhiwei: "..."
After he finished crying, Cheng Zhiwei relayed Bai Xue’s words to him, finally asking, "She’s not wrong, if you stay naive, you can’t survive here."
Ding Kun looked down and didn’t speak.
He was clearly still unwilling.
Cheng Zhiwei rubbed his head, "But, who asked you to be my agent?"
Ding Kun forced a smile, "You’ve been missing for so many days, Bai Xue went alone to the He Family Company event, the company supporting her marketing. She’s now beyond our reach."
Wen Jie had been targeting him all along, deliberately speaking those words to provoke him into acting out, just to have a valid reason to fire him.
Ding Kun actually knew at that time, but he thought Cheng Zhiwei had truly gone, so in a fit of despair, he had walked right into the trap.
It ended up in an unmanageable mess.
Cheng Zhiwei glanced at him, "I thought you did it for Bai Xue?"
She deliberately teased him.
"To each their own." Ding Kun had given up on her long ago and asked Cheng Zhiwei, "Where have you been these days? I couldn’t contact you, I even went to your house but couldn’t find anyone."
"I was kidnapped." Cheng Zhiwei casually answered with four words.
"Kidnapped?" Ding Kun’s voice almost soared through the roof, "I thought you..."
He thought she had truly abandoned him and left.
"It wasn’t Bai Xue kidnapping you to attend that event at He Family Company, was it?" Ding Kun was indignant.
It would be just like Bai Xue to do such a thing.
"It wasn’t." Cheng Zhiwei was too lazy to explain. She took him to a nearby hotel to get cleaned up a bit, then took him to the company.
Ding Kun dejectedly said, "I’ve been fired, why come here?"
"To seek justice." Cheng Zhiwei scornfully glanced at him, "Or do you just want to let it go?"
Ding Kun hesitated, then gritted his teeth and followed her in.
They didn’t have to look for Wen Jie; he came over on his own.
"Who allowed you to come, security?" Wen Jie yelled, acting as though he owned the whole company.
Cheng Zhiwei raised the folder in her hand, then furiously slapped it against Wen Jie’s face, her voice cold, "I let him come."
"Cheng Zhiwei, you haven’t been working for so long, and now you hit people." Wen Jie twisted in anger, wanting to fire Cheng Zhiwei too.
Cheng Zhiwei coldly said, "What’s wrong, you also want to accuse me of intentional injury?"
"You..."
Cheng Zhiwei took out two contracts, "These are my contracts with Director Wen Ya, don’t know if that’s enough to shut you up."
Hearing Wen Ya’s name, Wen Jie’s face changed, there was no need to look at the contracts, in the company’s segment with so many artists, only a few caught Wen Ya’s eye.
Even as a part of the same company, Wen Ya never did favors, and cared even less for those she disliked.
Bai Xue also looked bad, how could it be, how could Cheng Zhiwei be collaborating with Wen Ya?
She had also wanted to work with Wen Ya but had never had the chance.
While Cheng Zhiwei had already seized the opportunity.
"My condition is, Ding Kun comes back to continue being my agent, or I’ll take this contract and leave."
"Who do you think you are?" Bai Xue gritted her teeth, jealousy distorting her face.
Before Wen Jie could respond, the chubby director came out, "You all come in."
Cheng Zhiwei and Wen Jie went to the office.
Bai Xue walked up to Ding Kun, mockingly said, "Does mooching off someone taste good?"
Jealousy made her speak recklessly, targeting her ex-boyfriend.
Ding Kun didn’t care at all, even looked at her with disdain, "None of your business."
He was completely over her, not hiding his disgust at all.
