Chapter 463: They Said They Would Bring Me to Find My Mother

Chapter 463: Chapter 463: They Said They Would Bring Me to Find My Mother

Cheng Zhiwei had been locked up by Zhou Chenyan for three days now, and Zhou Chenyan hadn’t tormented her, even assigning a nanny to take close care of her.

She had meals when it was time to eat, and even the dishes were quite rich, all to her taste.

On mornings with good weather, the nanny would even take her out to enjoy the sunshine.

Cheng Zhiwei, in such a state, could do nothing but hope that Zhou Lin would quickly realize that Zhou Chenyan was still alive.

"Cheng Zhiwei." He Mingzhu’s furious voice pierced through the air.

Cheng Zhiwei turned her head to look, meeting He Mingzhu’s fiery gaze. With one grab, He Mingzhu yanked Cheng Zhiwei’s hair, almost dragging her from the wheelchair, "It’s all you, you’re the one who made me end up like this."

He Mingzhu raised her hand to hit Cheng Zhiwei, but the nanny stopped her.

"It’s all you, you caused my father’s death." He Mingzhu’s cry broke down in tears, streaming down her face, filled with immense regret. She never should have left the He family in a huff, giving He Ye the chance to take advantage of the situation.

And He Ye did all that for Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei was the original sin.

He Mingzhu wanted Cheng Zhiwei’s life.

She struggled furiously, rage boiling over.

The nanny could barely hold her back.

Cheng Zhiwei slowly pushed herself to stand, a simple action that caused her to break into a sweat.

But still, she stood straight, calmly looking at He Mingzhu, "Your father is dead?"

"You killed him," He Mingzhu yelled.

Yet Cheng Zhiwei’s gaze stayed calm, "No, you did. If you hadn’t schemed against me, against He Ye, against Zhou Lin, you would still be the lofty Miss He, a pity you thought the whole world should revolve around you, ending up losing everything you had."

"It’s not your place to lecture me."

"He Mingzhu, you are just a loser," Cheng Zhiwei deliberately provoked her. "What’s the difference between you now and a homeless cur?"

He Mingzhu fell for the bait, rushing over and toppling Cheng Zhiwei to the ground, fiercely fighting her.

"Miss Cheng." The nanny couldn’t pull He Mingzhu away and could only call for help.

In the end, Cheng Zhiwei suffered serious injuries, and Zhou Chenyan personally dealt with the matter.

He Mingzhu was pressed by the bodyguard to kneel before Cheng Zhiwei, humiliation suffusing her face, "Cheng Zhiwei, I will kill you."

The response was a fierce lashing, drawing blood.

Cheng Zhiwei’s heart clenched, but she still restrained herself, watching expressionlessly.

Zhou Chenyan played with a string of prayer beads in his hand, his voice cold and merciless, "He Mingzhu, who allowed you to make a scene here?"

Head bowed, He Mingzhu’s forehead beaded with sweat from the intense pain, her voice trembling, "I’m sorry, Mr. Zhou, I just... she is the one who killed my father."

"Didn’t you say you had no relation to the He family anymore?" Zhou Chenyan asked indifferently.

He Mingzhu faltered, unable to speak.

"Zhiwei," Zhou Chenyan said in a detached tone, yet curiously intimate, "He Mingzhu has committed insubordination. She should be lashed fifty times, what do you think?"

He Mingzhu’s face turned pale, one lash was already so painful, fifty lashes would cost her life.

"Mr. Zhou, I realize my mistake," He Mingzhu quickly apologized, "I’ll never do it again."

Zhou Chenyan turned his head, "Your plea is not with me."

Cheng Zhiwei’s palms sweated, knowing what was coming.

Whether it was the fake Zhou Chenyan in the open or the real Zhou Chenyan in front of her, both enjoyed playing this sort of game.

He Mingzhu bit her lip tightly, looking at Cheng Zhiwei. After struggling to find words, she finally squeezed out a sentence through clenched teeth, "Cheng Zhiwei, please forgive me."

"Smack," another lash came down.

He Mingzhu was in such pain that she shrank back, but with the bodyguard pressing down on her arm, she was completely unable to move and could only endure it forcefully.

"Mr. Zhou," she asked, her voice trembling and confused.

"And you think you’re worthy of saying her name?" Zhou Chenyan said darkly.

He Mingzhu immediately realized her mistake and could only change her plea: "Miss Cheng, please forgive me."

Zhou Chenyan looked at Cheng Zhiwei indifferently, "Zhiwei, do you wish to forgive her?"

Cheng Zhiwei had intentionally taken the beating, hoping Zhou Chenyan would lay his hands on He Mingzhu, yet she had not expected him to be so heavy-handed.

If she did nothing, He Mingzhu might indeed end up taking fifty lashes and die here, but she couldn’t bring herself to accept He Mingzhu’s apology easily.

"Give her ten lashes," Cheng Zhiwei said indifferently. That was her biggest concession.

Zhou Chenyan hooked the corner of his mouth, staring at Cheng Zhiwei coldly, as if mocking her soft-heartedness.

In the end, He Mingzhu received ten lashes and fainted from the pain, dragged away by the bodyguards.

Zhou Chenyan, however, didn’t leave. He took the whip from the bodyguard, caressing it in his hand, "How have you considered?"

Cheng Zhiwei’s heart tightened. The inevitable question had finally come.

She knew that her good days were over.

Cheng Zhiwei glanced at the whip in Zhou Chenyan’s hand, feeling a chill down her back, yet she still said, "I have already said, it’s impossible."

Zhou Chenyan’s eyelids drooped, unsurprised by this response. The whip cracked in the air with an explosive sound, "Since Miss Cheng isn’t thinking clearly, let’s pour out the water in her brain."

The bodyguard responded with a low "Yes."

Cheng Zhiwei was carried back to her room. She had been given five lashes. The pain was scorching on her back, and her whole body was drenched in sweat, as if she had been pulled out of water.

The bodyguard coldly and brutally stuffed the hearing aid into Cheng Zhiwei’s ears, relaying Zhou Chenyan’s words: "This is just an appetizer. If Miss Cheng continues to be uncooperative, he doesn’t mind making you have another child."

The lash was a minor punishment.

If Cheng Zhiwei did not cooperate, they would have to find another way.

She had given birth to a child who looked very much like Yu Man. Naturally, she could have a second.

Or perhaps, until one is born.

Cheng Zhiwei lay on the bed, her fingers gripping the sheets tightly. Zhou Chenyan was already in a wheelchair himself, and who knew how long he could live, yet he wanted a child that resembled Yu Man.

Didn’t he find himself disgusting?

When would Zhou Lin finally find this place?

Ignoring the pain, she looked around, assessing if there were any handy tools. If Zhou Chenyan truly decided to proceed like this, she wouldn’t mind a fight to the death.

While she was in a pain-induced haze, she vaguely heard the door open, followed by a soft, tender voice.

"Mommy."

In an instant, all of Cheng Zhiwei’s pain seemed to fly away. She opened her eyes in disbelief, looking at the Cheng Xing before her, her voice incredibly hoarse.

"Xingxing... What are you doing here?"

Had Zhou Lin failed to protect Xingxing, and all three of them had been captured by Zhou Chenyan?

Cheng Zhiwei’s vision went dark.

What on earth was he doing?

"Mommy, does it hurt?" Cheng Xing started to cry, looking especially pitiful.

"It’s okay, Mommy doesn’t hurt," Cheng Zhiwei struggled to sit up, comforting Cheng Xing, "How did you get here?"

Cheng Xing wiped away her tears, crying and sobbing, "They said they’d bring me to Mommy, so I came."
