Chapter 418: Chapter 418 Zhou Lin Can’t Win
He never intended to harm her, yet everything he did was hurting her.
Compared to Zhou Lin, Meng Qiancheng was even more sinister and ruthless.
Cheng Zhiwei remained silent, and Meng Qiancheng softened his tone, affectionately saying, "Weiwei, as long as you turn back, I’ll let bygones be bygones. I am willing to spend the rest of my life with you."
As he spoke with emotion, he grabbed Cheng Zhiwei’s hand that was on the table.
The next second, Cheng Zhiwei had broken free.
Meng Qiancheng’s gaze darkened.
"I have already left Yucheng, whatever happens between you two is no concern of mine." Cheng Zhiwei stood up, looking at Meng Qiancheng with disgust, "Whether it’s you or Zhou Lin, stop coming after me."
"What about Auntie Lin, don’t you care about her either?" Meng Qiancheng asked maliciously.
Cheng Zhiwei paused, her back to him, "She is your mother, it’s not my place to interfere with whatever you do to her."
She quickly walked away.
The expression on Meng Qiancheng’s face faded, his demeanor growing grim.
Cheng Zhiwei thought she had made herself clear. With the Zhou Family embroiled in a fierce power struggle, Meng Qiancheng should have left immediately.
But he didn’t.
Instead, he went to Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing’s kindergarten.
Just as Cheng Zhiwei was picking up the children, she saw Meng Qiancheng standing at the gate, wearing sunglasses and next to a luxury car, conspicuously eye-catching.
Cheng Zhiwei’s heart skipped a beat, intending to avoid him, but Meng Qiancheng had already approached her.
He took off his sunglasses, smiling gently, "Weiwei."
Saying that, he bent down to greet Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing, "Hello, darlings. I’m a friend of your mom’s; you can call me Uncle Meng."
He reached out to touch Cheng Yang’s hair.
Cheng Zhiwei tightened her grip, and Cheng Yang immediately retreated behind her, watching him warily.
Meng Qiancheng was somewhat surprised, "They say you’re quite lively. Why so timid all of a sudden?"
Cheng Zhiwei knew that Meng Qiancheng had investigated everything about her.
She said indifferently, "Children are always like this with strangers."
"It’s alright; they’ll gradually get used to me after spending more time together." Meng Qiancheng was nonchalant, opening the car door, "Let’s go. I’ll take you out to eat."
Cheng Zhiwei naturally wouldn’t go, but before she could refuse, Meng Qiancheng said, "You may not be hungry, but the children must be starving after a day at school. How about I take them alone?"
He moved swiftly, scooping Cheng Yang into his arms.
Cheng Zhiwei’s heart lurched to her throat, her voice sharp, "Meng Qiancheng, what are you trying to do?"
In such a public place, he didn’t seem to perceive the horror of his actions.
Meng Qiancheng appeared innocent, "I simply want to take you and the kids out to eat, Weiwei. Don’t be so tense."
"I won’t go," Cheng Yang struggled, but he was too weak to break free.
Meng Qiancheng’s hand stroked his neck softly, his creepy smile deepening, "Be good."
Such blatant threat.
Cheng Zhiwei had no choice but to agree.
She closed her eyes, only able to say, "Alright, I..."
"Miss Cheng." A clear female voice came, interrupting the suffocating scene.
Cheng Zhiwei immediately looked up, surprised, "Director Wen."
Wen Ya, a director with a good box office record, approached with a commanding presence. She glanced at Meng Qiancheng and asked Cheng Zhiwei, "Do you need my help?"
Cheng Zhiwei nodded without hesitation, "Yes."
Wen Ya then turned to Meng Qiancheng, "Sir, please hand the child over to her, otherwise, I’ll call the police."
Meng Qiancheng narrowed his eyes, his laughter filled with ambiguous scorn, "Wen Ya?"
Wen Ya raised an eyebrow, "You know me, that’s good. At least you know I’m not joking."
Meng Qiancheng stroked Cheng Yang’s hair then handed him over to Cheng Zhiwei, his smile profound, "Then, some other time, I will invite you out to eat again."
He drove away.
Cheng Zhiwei’s tense body finally relaxed, her legs felt weak, thankful that Wen Ya arrived in time.
"Thank you," Cheng Zhiwei expressed her gratitude.
Wen Ya looked at her and the two children, "They go to school here... do you live here?"
"Yes, I haven’t been here long."
Wen Ya obviously knew about Zhou Lin’s engagement and hence said nothing, "Sea City is a nice place; you will like it here."
"Yes."
"Mommy." A three- or four-year-old boy ran out and hugged Wen Ya’s leg, "Mommy, why did you come so late?"
Wen Ya touched his hair, introducing him to Cheng Zhiwei, "This is my son, Wen Jun."
Her son?
Cheng Zhiwei looked at the young boy in surprise; Wen Ya was already married with a child.
Wen Jun, holding Wen Ya’s hand, immediately protested loudly, "He’s not my real mommy, auntie. If you know any suitable men, please introduce them to my mom."
Cheng Zhiwei was taken aback, then laughed, "Sure."
Wen Ya shook her head helplessly, "Don’t listen to his nonsense. He just likes to stir up trouble."
Wen Jun snorted, "Grandpa said, from now on, I should call you aunt, not mommy, otherwise no man will want you."
"Aunt."
Wen Ya was both amused and exasperated, "Alright, let’s go."
The first thing Cheng Zhiwei did when she got home was to secure the doors and windows. With Zhou Chenyan’s precedent, she couldn’t be too careful.
But while she guarded against Meng Qiancheng as if he were a thief, Meng Qiancheng brazenly showed up at her door.
Seeing the person outside, Cheng Zhiwei felt a headache coming on.
She didn’t want to open the door, but Meng Qiancheng kept knocking steadily and unhurriedly.
After a continuous five minutes, the neighbors complained in the residents’ group chat about the disturbance, and Cheng Zhiwei reluctantly opened the door, her voice edged, "What do you want?"
Meng Qiancheng set down the snacks and toys he was carrying, "I came to see the kids."
"Those are Zhou Lin’s children," Cheng Zhiwei said coldly.
"Then I came to see you," Meng Qiancheng effortlessly retorted.
Cheng Zhiwei, arms crossed, blocked the doorway, "Meng Qiancheng, I know you’re very influential now, but that has nothing to do with me. Could you be normal and stop bothering me?"
She couldn’t stand the entanglement of such a hypocritical person.
"Weiwei, you can accept Zhou Lin, so why can’t you accept me?" Meng Qiancheng grew angry as well.
"What’s the difference between you and Zhou Lin?" Cheng Zhiwei countered.
She struggled to keep her emotions in check, "I have called the police, Meng Qiancheng. Let me tell you, if you harass me again, I’ll call the police every single time."
Her expression didn’t seem like a joke.
"Cheng Zhiwei, you have such a cruel heart," Meng Qiancheng snapped angrily, his glance sweeping across the two children in the house, a trace of malice flickering.
How could Cheng Zhiwei not understand, but she could only manage to keep from showing weakness in front of him.
"Meng Qiancheng, leave them alone."
He appeared unconcerned, "Depends on my mood."
"You..."
"Weiwei, Zhou Lin won’t win, even if he discards you and allies with the He family, he will not win," Meng Qiancheng declared confidently.
