Chapter 417: But for his sake, you’re willing to take my life

Chapter 417: Chapter 417: But for his sake, you’re willing to take my life

Lin Yu’s tears fell like rain.

Zhou Chenyan seemed to feel such heartache that he hurriedly consoled her, "Ah Yu, it’s my fault, all my fault. I’m sorry. Please don’t cry."

He pleaded aggrievedly like a child, "It hurts my heart."

"Let Zhiwei leave." Lin Yu said again, helping Cheng Zhiwei to stand up slowly, "Zhou Chenyan, make her leave."

Zhou Chenyan’s expression darkened again. He slowly raised his hand to touch Lin Yu’s cheek, and scoffed with contempt, "Ah Yu, you’re really too disobedient."

Just then, the room door was suddenly slammed open from the outside.

Zhou Lin stood coldly at the door and sneered sarcastically, "Uncle, have you walked into the wrong room?"

Zhou Chenyan leisurely withdrew his hand and turned to look towards the door, "Ah Lin is here."

Zhou Lin entered, stood in front of the two women with his back straight, speaking unhurriedly, "Uncle, I may call you ’uncle,’ but this house has no room for you. So you shouldn’t come to the second floor, and it’s best you stay away from places you shouldn’t be."

Zhou Chenyan innocently explained, "Qiancheng just wanted to see his mother."

Meng Qiancheng leaned against the door frame, smirking dismissively as he provocatively watched Zhou Lin, "Is there a law that says you can’t even see your own mother?"

The atmosphere turned tense as swords drawn.

Zhou Lin supported Lin Yu, helping her walk out, "Now that you’ve seen her, can you leave?"

"Zhou Lin, what a tone you have," Meng Qiancheng stood up straight, his face stern, "Are you trying to start a fight at Uncle’s funeral?"

"What’s going on here?" a commanding voice intoned.

He Rongwei appeared with He Mingzhu, and He Ye followed behind them, casting an ambiguously concerned glance at Cheng Zhiwei.

He Mingzhu went to Zhou Lin’s side, her eyes reddening slightly, "Ah Lin, accept my condolences."

He Rongwei patted Zhou Lin on the shoulder in encouragement before turning with a frown, "I don’t care what’s going on between you all, but right now it’s Chenyuan’s funeral. Anyone who causes trouble will have to answer to me, He Rongwei."

He was serious, lending support to Zhou Lin’s side.

He Mingzhu whispered, "Ah Lin, it’s okay, dad will help us."

After that, she glanced sardonically at Cheng Zhiwei, mocking her helplessness.

Cheng Zhiwei remained expressionless.

Zhou Lin looked down, expressing his gratitude, "Thank you."

He Mingzhu pursed her lips and nodded with propriety.

With the arrival of He Rongwei, Zhou Chenyan and Meng Qiancheng left.

The tension eased.

He Mingzhu took the initiative to help Lin Yu over to a nearby sofa to sit down, her demeanor respectful, "Auntie, it’s okay, I’ll stay with you."

He Rongwei pulled Zhou Lin aside to speak privately.

Cheng Zhiwei stood alone, as if deliberately ignored.

She stood indifferent for a while, then called out to Zhou Lin, "Zhou Lin, take me back."

The room suddenly quieted down.

Everyone’s gaze fell on her. Zhou Lin frowned, and He Rongwei had already said, "Don’t you see I’m discussing matters with him? Choose a better place for your tantrum."

He scolded her without courtesy.

Cheng Zhiwei clenched her fists, only looking at Zhou Lin, "Zhou Lin, are you taking me back or not?"

"I’ll have my driver take you," Zhou Lin called Secretary Zhang.

Cheng Zhiwei scoffed, "So He Mingzhu arrives, and you’re suddenly unable to walk?"

"Cheng Zhiwei, what nonsense are you spouting at Uncle’s funeral?" He Mingzhu stood up, infuriated, "We can talk about whatever it is in private."

"I have nothing to say to you." Cheng Zhiwei smoothed her disheveled hair, her demeanor scornful, "Zhou Lin, I just want to know – is it me or He Mingzhu that you choose?"

"Cheng Zhiwei, have you had enough?" Zhou Lin’s face turned completely cold.

"No." Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes reddened as she accused Zhou Lin like a woman wronged, "Do you even realize what I’ve just been through? You came in and didn’t console me, instead, you couldn’t wait to be with the He family."

"He Mingzhu is so venomous, bullying Qiqi like that, yet you still collaborate with her. Do you only care about money?"

Cheng Zhiwei demanded loudly, "What am I to you?"

"Get out!" Zhou Lin shouted, unable to restrain himself anymore.

Cheng Zhiwei stumbled back as if Zhou Lin’s shout had frightened her.

She looked at him deeply, then ran out.

He Mingzhu pretended to be concerned, "Ah Lin, go after her quickly, don’t let her get the wrong idea."

Zhou Lin averted his gaze indifferently, "Don’t bother with her."

Cheng Zhiwei returned to Sparkling Sky City and stood in the empty living room for a while before going upstairs, pulling out the luggage she had packed earlier and placing the signed divorce agreement on the table.

At the airport, the two children were already waiting.

"Mom," Cheng Yang whispered hesitantly, "Are we really leaving?"

"Yes," Cheng Zhiwei held onto her child’s hand tightly, "Don’t worry, mom has arranged everything."

"And Uncle Zhou?" Cheng Xing asked softly.

"Uncle Zhou... he has his own business to attend to."

"Okay."

After some time together, Zhou Lin treated them with gentle care, and they had gradually accepted him.

Three hours later, the plane landed in Sea City.

This was the final place Cheng Zhiwei had decided to settle down.

She had bought a house and arranged everything for the children’s kindergarten.

The children adapted quickly.

They were obedient, hardly causing Cheng Zhiwei any trouble; they also settled well into the new kindergarten.

When Cheng Zhiwei checked the news from Yucheng a week later, she learned that Zhou Lin and He Mingzhu’s engagement ceremony was quite grand.

Of course, more noteworthy was that Zhou Chenyan had become an advisor to Zhou Group.

And Meng Qiancheng...

Cheng Zhiwei eyed the man across from her, her expression faint, "What brings you here?"

"Weiwei, I’m now another president at Zhou Group, on an equal footing with Zhou Lin," Meng Qiancheng leaned back in his chair, his smile bright.

Zhou Chenyan had to return to Zhou’s in the limited capacity of an advisor, because Zhou Lin’s grandfather had explicitly forbidden him from meddling in the company’s business.

But Meng Qiancheng was different; he was a grandson and the son of Lin Yu and Zhou Chenyan, making him a useful weapon.

"Congratulations," Cheng Zhiwei responded flatly, evident in her nonchalance.

Meng Qiancheng wasn’t offended, toying with his coffee cup, "I heard that Zhou Lin abandoned you for a cooperation project, are you okay?"

His tone was gentle, like a caring older brother.

"I told you before, Zhou Lin isn’t worthy of a lifetime commitment," Meng Qiancheng sighed, "but for him, you wanted my life."

"So what, you’re here for revenge?" Cheng Zhiwei asked sharply.

Meng Qiancheng was taken aback, then burst into laughter, "Weiwei, don’t joke like that. You know I’ve never wanted to hurt you."

"Let’s join forces and crush him underfoot."
