The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 409: Persuading Her to Divorce

Chapter 409: Chapter 409: Persuading Her to Divorce

Cheng Zhiwei was soon discharged from the hospital.

Wang Mei had already prepared a diet plan to ensure her good health. Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing would come to inquire about her health as the first thing after school every day.

At meal times, they gave her the rice and chopsticks first.

Thus, after another half month of care, Cheng Zhiwei could move around freely.

Zhou Lin’s visits home became less frequent, but the first thing he did upon returning was to take a bath, wash off all the scents on his body, and change into clean clothes.

Cheng Zhiwei received many photos. She responded to each of He Mingzhu’s provoking messages, but invariably mentioned, "Zhou Lin is my husband," which left He Mingzhu hopping mad.

However, the frequency of their public appearances together increased, and Zhou Lin spent more and more time in his study.

The first to approach Cheng Zhiwei was He Rongwei.

He sat at the table, looking serious and businesslike in his iron-grey suit, his attitude haughty and disdainful.

"Miss Cheng, your selfishness will ruin Zhou Lin," his tone was impatient, as if speaking another word to Cheng Zhiwei was a waste of energy.

He couldn’t wait to thrash out his conditions, handing over a card to Cheng Zhiwei, "As long as you agree to divorce, there are five million in this card, all yours."

Merely five million...

Cheng Zhiwei sarcastically retorted, "I remember the last time we talked about divorce, Zhou Lin offered 20 million plus a 20-million villa. President He, do you think you can match that with your five million?"

He Rongwei’s face darkened, "Cheng Zhiwei, don’t push your luck."

"President He, however you look at it, Zhou Lin is not worth just five million, is he?"

Leaning back in his chair, He Rongwei scornfully said, "It’s true Zhou Lin has a good price, but now that our families are cooperating, if this project fails, Zhou Group will go bankrupt directly. What, are you prepared to watch him go bankrupt?"

"Why not, after all, the grudge between him and me is also deep," Cheng Zhiwei casually drank a sip of coffee, "Besides, pressuring me like this to divorce, Miss He Mingzhu will become a homewrecker. Aren’t you afraid of it leaking out?"

"Sharp-tongued," He Rongwei scoffed, "But you’re not even considering yourself. You should think about your three children."

Her children, Cheng Zhiwei’s ultimate weakness.

"They are Zhou Lin’s children too, you can try," Cheng Zhiwei displayed the chat records with He Mingzhu before He Rongwei, "I wonder if Miss He’s reputation is still worth anything."

Posting this online wouldn’t destroy He Mingzhu, but it would be enough to negatively impact the He family.

He Rongwei’s eyes narrowed, his sharp gaze tinged with venom. On one hand, he thought his daughter was foolish; on the other hand, he thought Cheng Zhiwei was very cunning.

"Cheng Zhiwei, I really underestimated you, but do you think you can even release this information?" He Rongwei sneered. The company’s PR and legal departments were not for show.

"It doesn’t matter, but among the 365 days in a year, there will always be one day it could be released."

He Rongwei was so angry he almost couldn’t control his emotions. It had been a long time since he had encountered someone as impervious and impolite as Cheng Zhiwei.

He left the room slamming the table.

Cheng Zhiwei watched him go with a mocking curl of her lips, which eventually drooped down.

That partnership had indeed turned into chains that trapped Zhou Lin.

A strategic marriage was the only way out.

Just after two days, Wen Yongan came knocking.

On Saturday, Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing were at home, and Zhou Lin had gone to the company.

When Wen Yongan arrived, Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t just turn him away.

Seeing the two children, Wen Yongan’s expression softened immensely. He patted Cheng Yang on the head and then bent down to look at Cheng Xing.

Captivated by her tender appearance, he paused, then crouched down and unconsciously grabbed Cheng Xing’s shoulders.

"You are..."

"Let go of my sister." Cheng Yang came over and spoke bluntly.

Snapping back to reality, Wen Yongan quickly let go.

Cheng Xing pouted and retreated into Cheng Zhiwei’s arms, scared and calling out, "Mommy."

Cheng Zhiwei picked her up, soothed her gently, and then told Cheng Yang to take her somewhere else to play.

"Mr. Wen, please have a seat," Cheng Zhiwei said politely.

Wen Yongan’s gaze still lingered where Cheng Xing had left, muttering unconsciously, "She looks so much like her."

"Mr. Wen?" Cheng Zhiwei raised her voice.

Wen Yongan snapped back to reality, coughed, and asked Cheng Zhiwei, "That’s your daughter?"

"Yes," Cheng Zhiwei nodded, "You came here for something?"

She diverted the topic.

She did not like Wen Yongan staring at Cheng Xing that way.

Wen Yongan scrutinized Cheng Zhiwei carefully, but he couldn’t see any familiar traits in her face.

Cheng Zhiwei frowned, "Mr. Wen?"

Wen Yongan coughed awkwardly, his heart filled with astonishment.

Cheng Xing resembled that person so much, yet Cheng Zhiwei, her mother, bore little resemblance.

Perhaps it was just a coincidence.

Regaining his composure, he stated his purpose, "I’m here to persuade you to divorce Zhou Lin."

Cheng Zhiwei had guessed as much, but hearing him say it was still amusing, "It seems you all quite support the idea of a mistress ascending. Oh, she isn’t even a mistress yet, since Zhou Lin doesn’t like her."

Wen Yongan already didn’t like Cheng Zhiwei, and now he found her tone too harsh, his demeanor grew colder, "Cheng Zhiwei, this divorce is for your own good. Have you considered how much pressure he’s under?"

Of course, Cheng Zhiwei knew, but since Zhou Lin chose not to discuss it, and her questions yielded no answers, she let it go.

"That’s his business," Cheng Zhiwei coldly shrugged, "Our relationship isn’t great, so, naturally, I don’t meddle in his matters."

"Not a great relationship?" Wen Yongan frowned, "I don’t care whether your feelings are involved, I just want to tell you, if this project with the He family succeeds, his business domain will triple, but if it fails, he’ll go bankrupt."

"Oh," Cheng Zhiwei feigned disinterest.

Even the patient Wen Yongan got irritated, not to mention he disliked Cheng Zhiwei, and said sternly, "Cheng Zhiwei, don’t be too selfish."

Cheng Zhiwei remained silent.

Wen Yongan continued to lecture, "As far as I know, his parents have been very good to you. Would you have the heart to see all their efforts wiped out because of you?"

It always came back to moral coercion.

Cheng Zhiwei, annoyed, responded coldly, "What’s it to me."

Wen Yongan stood up abruptly, "How can you speak like this? How can it not concern you? You are currently Zhou Lin’s wife..."

"You all keep urging me to divorce. How am I his wife really, and besides, none of you have ever respected me," Cheng Zhiwei said coldly, "Don’t stand there pretending to be righteous."
