Chapter 399: Chapter 399 She Was Finally Completely Abandoned by the Cheng Family

Guo Cuihua gave a bitter smile, "It’s not about forgiveness, but Zhenzhen is my daughter, and she is also his daughter. We’re already this old, what’s the point of making a fuss?"

It was nothing more than living a life of mutual repentance.

"I’ll take you home," Cheng Zhiwei offered proactively.

"No need, Zhiyin will take me," Guo Cuihua said, gently touching Cheng Zhiwei’s hair as she always had, "Zhiwei, from now on, let’s not see each other again."

"You don’t want me anymore?"

"You’re a good child, but seeing you reminds me of Zhenzhen. I can’t treat you as my own daughter anymore, and that would be unfair to her."

Cheng Zhiwei’s fingers turned white from clutching so tightly, but she could only nod in pain, "Alright."

She had finally been completely abandoned by the Cheng family.

Guo Cuihua couldn’t help but hug her, sobbing inaudibly.

Cheng Zhiyin, who had been standing outside, came in and comforted them both until their emotions had slowly calmed down.

Cheng Zhiyin said, "Zhou Lin is here; he’s outside."

Cheng Zhiwei’s expression immediately turned cold.

"Let him come in," Guo Cuihua said.

Cheng Zhiyin went out and brought Zhou Lin in.

Zhou Lin’s gaze briefly lingered on Cheng Zhiwei’s swollen eyes before he respectfully called out, "Mom."

Guo Cuihua nodded and instructed, "I suppose you’ve realized just how outrageous the mistake you made was."

"Yes."

"I originally did not wish for you two to be together, but now that you’ve remarried, you must take good care of her."

Zhou Lin obediently listened to the reprimand, "Don’t worry, I’ll take good care of her and the children."

"That’s good," Guo Cuihua was reassured and then told him, "Go now."

Cheng Zhiwei cried silently, as Zhou Lin embraced her and they left.

In the elevator, Zhou Lin held her against his chest and whispered comforting words, "We can still come to visit her in the future."

Cheng Zhiwei just wept silently.

Once in the car, Zhou Ruoki was already seated in the child’s car seat in the back.

Their eyes met, and Cheng Zhiwei turned to sit in the passenger seat.

Zhou Ruoki pursed her lips, subconsciously tangling her fingers together.

Zhou Lin got into the car and sat next to Zhou Ruoki.

Secretary Zhang didn’t dare make a sound, quietly returning to Sparkling Sky City.

Cheng Zhiwei went straight to her room, packing the essentials before intending to go downstairs to find Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing.

Zhou Lin stopped her directly.

"Just calm down," he urged helplessly.

Cheng Zhiwei stepped back, looking at him coldly, "I need to calm down, so please get out of the way and let me be calm."

After all, had she not been hot-headed, she would not have agreed to such nonsense as a three-month agreement.

It would probably be better if Zhou Lin married He Mingzhu.

"I will sort out the issue with He Mingzhu, and the He family will not trouble you. As for what you mentioned, I will investigate it. Give me time," Zhou Lin was trying his best to soothe Cheng Zhiwei.

"No need, Zhou Lin, I’ve figured it out. Everyone has their own fate. If Zhou Ruoki doesn’t want to acknowledge me, then it’s my destiny; why should I insist?"

Cheng Zhiwei had initially agreed to the three months without much hesitation because of Zhou Lin’s assertiveness and for the sake of Zhou Ruoki.

Now, she saw things clearly.

Zhou Ruoki would rather trust He Mingzhu, whom she had only known for a short while, than her own mother. There was nothing more to say.

She wanted to leave, but Zhou Lin still wouldn’t let her.

Cheng Zhiwei nearly screamed, "What exactly do you want? Are you only going to be satisfied if I apologize to He Mingzhu?"

Zhou Lin also lost his temper, "I said give me time, I will investigate, I will find a way."

"If you had a way, you would have discovered the traces of contact between Zhou Ruoki and He Mingzhu in the phone watch. If you had a way, you should have asked Zhou Ruoki why she lied."

Cheng Zhiwei was on the verge of a breakdown. She had already been infuriated by He Mingzhu and Zhou Ruoki in the hospital; then Guo Cuihua came to talk to her, implying the end of their mother-daughter relationship.

One thing after another was coming at her.

It left her breathless, on the verge of passing out.

Zhou Lin pulled her into his embrace, holding her tightly, his voice harsh, "You agreed to a three-month period; leaving now is out of the question."

Cheng Zhiwei closed her eyes, exhausted.

At dinner time, Cheng Zhiwei didn’t eat.

So Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing also refused to eat and stood in front of the master bedroom door, holding hands, waiting.

Downstairs, Zhou Ruoki sat by the dining table, a little uneasy, occasionally glancing upstairs.

Zhou Lin sat next to him, silently serving him food.

After a while, Zhou Ruoki couldn’t sit still any longer and asked softly, "Aren’t Xingxing and the others eating?"

Zhou Lin replied indifferently, "Their mom is sad and can’t eat, so they want to stay with her."

Zhou Ruoki looked down; he understood why Cheng Zhiwei was sad.

A three-year-old child is still small, but not completely unaware.

"Dad, I’m sorry," he apologized.

"You’re not wrong," Zhou Lin said sternly, looking into his eyes. "If you’re not wrong, then no apologies are needed."

Zhou Ruoki should have been happy, but for some reason, he felt even worse.

Dad said he wasn’t wrong, yet it seemed like he was accusing him of being wrong.

Restlessly pushing his food around the bowl, he still glanced toward the second floor now and then.

Zhou Lin finished and went straight to the study, leaving Zhou Ruoki alone, absentmindedly nibbling at his food.

Zhang Xiaoman felt sympathy for him and whispered soothingly, "Qiqi, what’s wrong? Isn’t it tasty?"

Tears were already forming in Zhou Ruoki’s eyes. He sniffled and said softly, "Did I do something wrong?"

Zhang Xiaoman quickly hugged him, gently comforting, "Qiqi is the most sensible. How could you be wrong?"

Wang Mei brought a tray of food upstairs, knocking on the master bedroom door, persuading, "Zhiwei, you’re not eating, but the children need to. They’ve been waiting at the door."

Cheng Zhiwei heard her, paused for a moment, then hurried to open the door, only to see Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing lined up outside. At the sight of her, they both called out "Mommy" with a look of distress.

Cheng Zhiwei squatted down and hugged one in each arm, her voice full of sorrow, "Who asked you to wait here for me? Go eat."

Her hair was a mess, her eyes still swollen, her appearance far from optimal.

The children immediately became upset as well.

"Mommy, don’t cry," Cheng Yang lifted his little hand to wipe the tear marks on Cheng Zhiwei’s face, his mouth turned down.

Cheng Xing hugged Cheng Zhiwei’s neck and kissed her cheek, his eyes reddened and on the verge of tears.

Cheng Zhiwei felt even worse, but she couldn’t cry in front of the children.

She led the two children into the master bedroom, washed her face, and said reassuringly, "Mommy is okay. Now, will you eat with Mommy?"

"Then I’ll go downstairs and make something fresh," Wang Mei immediately said.

"That’s not necessary, just some little wontons will do."

"Alright."

Cheng Zhiwei took Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing downstairs, Zhou Ruoki subconsciously stood up from the couch, but no one paid him any attention.

He bit his lip and sat back down, his gaze occasionally drifting in that direction.
