The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 398: He Is Not My Son

Chapter 398: Chapter 398: He Is Not My Son

Apologize?

Cheng Zhiwei stared at He Mingzhu. What He Mingzhu wanted wasn’t an apology but the sense of triumph from superiority.

Her hand was gripped tight as Zhou Lin pulled her close to his side and spoke in a deep voice, "Uncle He..."

"I’ve already said there’s no need to apologize," He Mingzhu said, lifting her hand to touch her still red cheek.

The bright beauty of her face drew pity from the slap mark.

He Rongwei became even angrier at the sight and spoke in an even colder tone, "Zhou Lin, I already gave you face by just demanding an apology from her."

If it wasn’t for the fact that Cheng Zhiwei was Zhou Lin’s woman, she would have already disappeared from Yucheng.

"Don’t forget, our families still have a collaboration," He Rongwei threatened.

Wen Yongan immediately interjected, "Rongwei, that’s a bit much."

How could he use the collaboration as a threat?

As expected, a storm of darkness quickly gathered in Zhou Lin’s eyes, and he suddenly laughed, "Uncle He, are you trying to conflate the two matters?"

He Rongwei did not like Zhou Lin’s suddenly inquisitive attitude.

It was his own person who had been bullied by He Mingzhu, yet now they seemed to be in the right.

"Zhou Lin."

"Regardless of the reasons behind Zhiwei hurting Miss He and how she should compensate, I’ll acknowledge it, but you have no right to press my wife aggressively."

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t want to apologize, so she wouldn’t.

Zhou Lin could still take that responsibility themselves.

Wen Yongan shook his head in disapproval, "Ah Lin, don’t say things in anger. Cheng Zhiwei hit someone, so she should apologize. It has nothing to do with you."

"Forget it," He Mingzhu lowered her head, "let’s not let such a trivial matter affect the collaboration between our two families."

"What collaboration? They clearly have no respect for you," He Rongwei said sternly.

"Dad."

"You shut up."

Cheng Zhiwei pulled free from Zhou Lin’s hold and took a small step forward, her expressionless face speaking out, "I will not apologize to you."

"Zhiwei," Zhou Lin frowned, attempting to pull her back, but Cheng Zhiwei avoided his grasp.

"Miss He, regarding the matter of hitting you, I will never apologize," continued Cheng Zhiwei.

Disbelief flashed across He Mingzhu’s eyes, but she quickly recovered, "Zhiwei, what do you mean by this? If you won’t apologize, then don’t apologize. I’m not the one forcing you..."

Cheng Zhiwei looked at her with icy eyes, "Miss He, what goes around comes around. Spreading nonsense about a three-year-old child, don’t you feel guilty?"

He Mingzhu was stunned.

She thought with so many people around, Cheng Zhiwei would be forced to lower her head.

He Rongwei sneered repeatedly, "That’s your son, why would he listen to Mingzhu? Stop causing trouble here."

Wen Yongan too was extremely shocked by Cheng Zhiwei, "How can you become so aggressive?"

Cheng Zhiwei turned her head, her unemotional gaze landing on Zhou Ruoki’s small face, meeting his stubborn look, she said coldly, "He is not my son."

Zhou Ruoki stiffened in Zhou Lin’s arms.

Zhou Lin’s lips pursed, "Zhiwei."

Cheng Zhiwei spread her hands, "I don’t know how they managed it, but what I’m saying is true. He Mingzhu has been contacting Zhou Ruoki and even instigating him."

"Cheng Zhiwei, you are slandering me," He Mingzhu said, infuriated as she sat up straight.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t even look at them and quickly walked away.

He Rongwei fumed, "Such an unqualified woman, really... really..."

Wen Yongan hurried to calm him down and then pulled Zhou Lin outside.

"Ah Lin, this Cheng Zhiwei is no good person, don’t be deceived by her."

"Uncle Wen, Zhiwei is not the kind of person you described. There’s been a misunderstanding; I will clear it up," Zhou Lin said as he left, taking Zhou Ruoki with him.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t wait for Zhou Lin and Zhou Ruoki; she hailed a taxi and went straight back to Sparkling Sky City.

Her heart was filled with discomfort from anger. She must have been crazy to agree to that three-month deal. How could she naively believe she would use that time to get closer to Zhou Ruoki?

The same blood ran through his and Zhou Lin’s veins.

Her phone rang before she even got home, and it was Cheng Zhiyin’s anxious voice, "Zhiwei, mom is asking for you."

Cheng Zhiwei had no choice but to ask the driver to turn around and head for the hospital.

Zhou Lin knew Cheng Zhiwei’s character well.

Guo Cuihua’s health worsened from day to day, and she was haggard.

When Cheng Zhiwei arrived, she was sitting on the sofa, turning her head to look out the window. The sunlight fell on her body, making it look hazy.

"Mom," Cheng Zhiwei’s voice was nasal.

Guo Cuihua turned to look at her, her smile forced, "I haven’t spoken to you for so many days. Are you angry with me?"

"No," Cheng Zhiwei hurriedly shook her head and sat down beside her.

Guo Cuihua took her hand and gently patted it, "I know it wasn’t your fault."

A warmth touched Cheng Zhiwei’s heart, and her eyes immediately reddened.

"But my conscience can’t get past it," Guo Cuihua said with a hand on her heart, tears falling.

"Every time I think of her growing up by my side and then disappearing because of such an incident, suffering so much hardship, my heart aches unbearably."

Guo Cuihua knew it wasn’t Cheng Zhiwei’s fault, but deep down, she had a stumbling block.

"I’m sorry," Cheng Zhiwei apologized with sadness.

Filled with guilt.

"I asked you to come today because I remembered the name Yu Man," Guo Cuihua had kept thinking that the name sounded familiar after hearing it from Cheng Shang but couldn’t recall where from.

Only today did she suddenly remember.

Yu Man, she actually knew her; she was a senior from the history department, a year ahead of her, very pretty, very gentle, and soon after graduation, she had married. After that, there had been no news.

"About that incident, I remember later hearing someone say she was entangled with someone she shouldn’t have, that her suicide by jumping was coerced."

Guo Cuihua had limited information, but it was extremely valuable to Cheng Zhiwei.

"Thank you, Mom," Cheng Zhiwei said, choking back tears.

If it had been someone else in this situation, even if they didn’t hate her, they would hate Yu Man, and they wouldn’t share this information.

Guo Cuihua hoped she would go looking for her biological parents.

All kinds of guilt and gratitude filled Cheng Zhiwei’s heart.

"And there’s your dad... for the time being, let’s still call him your dad," Guo Cuihua murmured, "regardless, he did save you back then and raised you for over twenty years, so don’t hate him too much."

Guo Cuihua did her best to plead for Cheng Shang.

He had wronged her and Seo Zhenzhen, but considering the life-saving debt and over twenty years of nurturing, he had fulfilled his duty to Cheng Zhiwei.

People should not be blinded by hatred and forget the kindness they have received.

"Alright," Cheng Zhiwei agreed.

She vaguely knew that Guo Cuihua had specifically asked her to come to say these words because she was about to leave.

As expected, Guo Cuihua then said, "I’ve decided to go back to my hometown."

Cheng Zhiwei teared up, "Have you forgiven him?"
