The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 394: Qiqi, Kiss Mommy

Chapter 394: Chapter 394: Qiqi, Kiss Mommy

"Impossible."

Zhou Lin frowned, he had arranged for the paternity test himself, and Zhou Ruoki was indeed his and Cheng Zhiwei’s child. Besides, the police had already thoroughly investigated the process through which Seo Zhenzhen had bought the child. The evidence was clearly laid out in front of him.

Moreover, since Seo Zhenzhen had been dead for so long, where was Cheng Shang getting his paternity test from?

Cheng Zhiwei’s mind, originally a tangled mess, finally began to sort itself out. Her eyes, brimming with tears, slowly calmed down, "There must be someone who has been speaking to him behind the scenes and given him a fake paternity test to make him suddenly so agitated."

It’s known that after Seo Zhenzhen’s name was added to the family registry, things had quieted down for a considerable period.

His sudden call for her to come over today must be because he had just recently received that so-called paternity test.

Zhou Lin’s brows furrowed, his gaze gentle and restrained, "I’ll look into it."

Cheng Zhiwei whispered a sigh, "Thank you."

Zhou Lin couldn’t help but hug her tightly, his warm kiss landing on her forehead, "Be good."

It was only then that Cheng Zhiwei realized she was in Zhou Lin’s arms. She immediately sat up straight, her body shifting to the side, her fingers combing through her hanging hair, "Sorry."

His embrace suddenly became empty, the emotions in Zhou Lin’s eyes churned but quickly settled.

Back at Sparkling Sky City.

Cheng Zhiwei entered the door tiredly, her gaze lifting to meet Zhou Ruoki, who was sitting on the living room sofa.

Her heart suddenly skipped a beat, a senseless panic gripping her heart because only Zhou Ruoki was in the living room, Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing were nowhere to be seen.

She controlled that panic, calming herself down, and asked Zhou Ruoki, "Qiqi, where are your brother and sister?"

Zhou Ruoki tilted her head, a vague smile appearing on her face, "They’re hiding."

"Hiding?" Cheng Zhiwei suddenly remembered Cheng Xing mentioning that they were playing hide-and-seek.

Her fingers curled slightly, yet her lips gently curled into a tender smile, "Ah, will you go find them now?"

"Uh-huh," Zhou Ruoki replied, slipping off the sofa and running away.

Shortly after, the happy voices of Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing could be heard.

Zhou Ruoki had found them.

Cheng Zhiwei lowered her gaze, wondering if she was making a big deal out of nothing—after all, it was just a children’s game and happening inside the house.

"Sister Zhiwei," Zhang Xiaoman’s voice came from the kitchen doorway.

Cheng Zhiwei walked over.

Zhang Xiaoman smiled, "Sister Zhiwei, don’t worry, they’re just playing a game."

"When did you get here?" Cheng Zhiwei asked.

"President Zhou asked me to come help my mother take care of the three kids; I just arrived not long ago." Zhang Xiaoman stretched her neck to peek outside, "Yangyang and Xingxing are both so well-behaved and sensible, Sister Zhiwei, you really know how to take care of children."

She finally understood why Cheng Zhiwei had previously said she was neglectful.

Seeing Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing made her realize what well-behaved children from other families looked like.

Comparatively, Zhou Ruoki fell a bit short.

Cheng Zhiwei felt a bit relieved; she had been thinking that it was too exhausting for Wang Mei to take care of three kids all by herself, and had planned to discuss hiring another nanny with Zhou Lin.

Zhang Xiaoman’s timing was perfect.

"You’ve worked hard," Cheng Zhiwei nodded.

"But, Sister Zhiwei, don’t you like Qiqi a bit less?" Zhang Xiaoman asked.

"No," Cheng Zhiwei immediately responded.

How could she not like Zhou Ruoki? In fact, she liked the child more, but it was because Zhou Ruoki didn’t like her being close, which made her tread so cautiously.

Zhang Xiaoman leaned in close to Cheng Zhiwei, whispering softly, "I know Seo Zhenzhen wasn’t a good person, and Qiqi, raised by her, might have some quirks. So, Sister Zhiwei, you need to be patient with him."

Cheng Zhiwei froze there, taken aback by those words—it sounded as if she had treated Zhou Ruoki badly because of Seo Zhenzhen.

She had no idea where Zhang Xiaoman’s comment was coming from.

"Did you misunderstand something?" Cheng Zhiwei furrowed her brows, her expression turning unpleasant.

Zhang Xiaoman was about to speak when Wang Mei called out from inside, "Xiaoman, come help."

"Sister Zhiwei, I’ll go help then," Zhang Xiaoman turned and entered the kitchen.

Cheng Zhiwei looked towards the living room where the three children were now standing together, obediently following Zhou Lin to wash their hands in preparation for dinner.

Everything seemed very harmonious.

Yet, she still felt uneasy.

Zhou Lin, after washing the kids’ hands and seeing them settled, then noticed Cheng Zhiwei standing by the kitchen doorway, lost in thought.

"What’s wrong?"

Cheng Zhiwei lowered her head to look at the three little bundles, bent down, and first hugged Cheng Yang, pointing to her own cheek, "Kiss mommy."

Cheng Yang planted a kiss on Cheng Zhiwei’s cheek and declared loudly while hugging her neck, "I love mommy."

Cheng Zhiwei’s heart warmed.

Cheng Xing stepped forward and tenderly kissed Cheng Zhiwei’s cheek, whispering softly, "Xingxing loves mommy too."

"Baby, mommy loves you too," she embraced Cheng Xing.

Then, she turned her gaze to Zhou Ruoki, her lips pursing into a faint smile, "Qiqi, would you kiss mommy?"

In order not to provoke Zhou Ruoki’s aversion, she had always made sure to keep her distance.

This was the first time she made such an open attempt to be close to him.

Zhou Ruoki’s entire body stiffened. He wanted to run away, but the pressure of Zhou Lin’s gaze above him was immense, making his feet immobile.

"Qiqi, what’s wrong?" Cheng Zhiwei asked quietly and gently.

He couldn’t run away, he had promised Auntie He to be friends with them.

Slowly, Zhou Ruoki moved in front of Cheng Zhiwei, his head lowered, fists clenched. He bent down and, like a dragonfly skimming water, lightly kissed Cheng Zhiwei’s cheek.

Before he could move away, Cheng Zhiwei embraced him tightly.

He nearly panicked enough to push her away, but he restrained himself just before doing so, his voice trembling, "Aunt Cheng."

As expected... Cheng Zhiwei’s heart sank a little.

He didn’t like her, but pretended to have already accepted her.

Zhou Lin, discontent with the use of "Aunt Cheng," furrowed his brows but was immediately silenced by a glare from Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Zhiwei gently patted Zhou Ruoki’s back and affectionately kissed his forehead, "Qiqi is great."

Letting go, she intentionally pretended not to notice Zhou Ruoki’s pale face, taking Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing to eat.

Zhou Ruoki ate very little before returning to his room.

Cheng Zhiwei found an excuse to follow.

She deliberately entered Zhou Ruoki’s room, spoke a few words, and when leaving, didn’t close the door completely but discreetly left a hard-to-notice crack.

Leaning against the wall, she heard Zhou Ruoki’s voice in the room.

"Auntie He, when can I go to grandma’s?"

"She kissed me, I hate her."

"Auntie He..."

"..."

Cheng Zhiwei leaned against the wall, rage tightening her heart.

It turned out to be... He Mingzhu...

Zhou Ruoki was close to He Mingzhu.
