The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 390: Played Hide and Seek Today

Chapter 390: Chapter 390: Played Hide and Seek Today

Remarriage is a major event after all.

According to Zhou Lin’s wishes, he wanted to invite all relatives and friends to gather, but Cheng Zhiwei simply refused to agree, so in the end, Wang Mei prepared a lavish dinner.

Wang Mei was very happy for Cheng Zhiwei, but still secretly said, "Are you really not bothered by the hurtful things he did to you in the past?"

She had witnessed those events, so she actually didn’t think Zhou Lin was someone worth entrusting her life to.

She respected Cheng Zhiwei’s decision, yet she also hoped that Cheng Zhiwei would not come to regret today’s decision.

In the end, it would still be her own heart that was wounded.

Cheng Zhiwei appreciated her concern, but she couldn’t reveal the three-month agreement they made, so she smiled and said, "There’s no helping it. The children will always have to grow up; they always need a father."

"His guilt toward me is also advantageous for me."

Cheng Zhiwei had not held herself in higher esteem nor pretended the past incidents hadn’t happened just because Zhou Lin had remarried her.

She was very clear-headed.

Wang Mei nodded, "That’s true."

Her gaze shifted, and looking at the three children, her tone lightened, "Fortunately, the three of them are very close."

Cheng Zhiwei followed her gaze and could see the three children sitting together, engaged in some game, and could hear their joyful laughter.

Her thoughts stirred, and she asked Wang Mei, "Is Qiqi willing to play with them?"

Thinking about how Zhou Ruoki had looked when he returned, the scene seemed somewhat bizarre no matter how you looked at it.

Actually, she wasn’t against the three children being together.

It was just that... she always felt a knot in her heart about that issue.

Wang Mei laughed and said, "Of course. Earlier, the lady called asking if Qiqi wanted to go over to her place, but he said he wanted to stay here with his brother and sister."

"But..." Wang Mei seemed hesitant to continue.

"What’s wrong?" Cheng Zhiwei quickly asked.

"I think Yangyang doesn’t seem to like Qiqi very much. They only play together because of Xingxing." Wang Mei said, then smiled to herself, "They’re just kids; small conflicts are normal. It’ll get better after a while."

Cheng Zhiwei knew Cheng Yang felt that way because of the words she had said; he was there to protect Cheng Xing.

She approached the children, stroked their hair, and spoke softly, "It’s time for bed. Go take a bath. Who wants to go first?"

Cheng Yang immediately raised his hand, "I’ll bathe first."

"Okay, mommy will bathe Yangyang first." Cheng Zhiwei took Cheng Yang upstairs to bathe.

While playing with bubbles in the bath, Cheng Yang asked Cheng Zhiwei, "Mommy, can I have a phone watch?"

"Of course you can. Which one do you want?"

"The same kind as Qiqi’s." Cheng Yang pursed his lips, feeling a bit embarrassed. Mommy had told him not to play with Zhou Ruoki, but he coveted his phone watch.

Cheng Zhiwei paused, Zhou Ruoki had a phone watch?

Of course, it wasn’t anything usual.

After all, Zhou Ruoki was raised in the Zhou Family.

"I even heard him making a call today," Cheng Yang said enviously. "If I had a phone watch, I could call mommy any time."

"Really? Who did Qiqi call, grandma?" Cheng Zhiwei wrapped Cheng Yang in a bath towel, asking casually.

"It wasn’t grandma, it didn’t sound like her," Cheng Yang wrinkled his small face as he recalled, "But it was a woman’s voice."

He nodded firmly, "Yes, it was a woman’s voice."

Cheng Zhiwei thought in surprise, a woman’s voice that wasn’t Lin Yu’s, who could it be?

Zhang Xiaoman?

"I overheard it, mommy, you can’t tell Qiqi," Cheng Yang said, for a man must not eavesdrop on others’ conversations, so this incident absolutely could not be divulged.

"Alright, go to sleep." Cheng Zhiwei took him to the room, changed him into comfortable pajamas, and let him go to bed.

When it was Cheng Xing’s turn for a bath, her little face was flushed with excitement, "Mommy, we played hide-and-seek today."

"Qiqi is so silly; he always takes so long to find me and Yangyang." Cheng Xing really liked this game.

The good relationship among the three children was naturally the best outcome.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t know what to say and simply cautioned her not to play too wildly.

"Mommy, you like Qiqi, right?" Cheng Xing asked earnestly, her eyes clear and bright.

"Mommy, of course, likes Qiqi." Cheng Zhiwei replied affirmatively.

He was her son; how could she not like him?

"I knew mommy was the best." Cheng Xing was thrilled because she felt that meant they were truly a family together.

Cheng Zhiwei tucked Cheng Xing into bed, giving the two children company, then went downstairs to find Zhou Ruoki.

Zhou Ruoki was still sitting alone where they had been playing earlier, fidgeting with a toy car.

Cheng Zhiwei walked over and called his name tenderly, "Qiqi, shall I take you for a bath?"

Zhou Ruoki looked up and shook his head, pressing his lips together.

He was unwilling.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t dare to force him but hoped to ease their relationship through some one-on-one time, so she spoke softly, "Qiqi, can we talk for a bit?"

Zhou Ruoki continued to play with the toy car, his head lowered.

Cheng Zhiwei sat down beside him and started a casual conversation, "Xingxing said you played hide-and-seek today?"

Zhou Ruoki paused in his play and quietly mumbled, "Hmm."

He was willing to talk, and Cheng Zhiwei was overjoyed, becoming even more patient and gentle.

Most of the conversation revolved around Cheng Xing.

Gradually, Zhou Ruoki talked more and more.

The atmosphere became exceptionally warm.

When Zhou Lin came out of the study, Zhou Ruoki had a smile on his face in Cheng Zhiwei’s presence.

Seeing his father, he stood up proactively, "Daddy."

Zhou Lin picked him up and kissed his forehead, "What have you been chatting about that made you so happy?"

Zhou Ruoki nestled into his shoulder and let out a tiny yawn, "Daddy, I want to sleep. Can you help me with my bath?"

It was rare for him to be so affectionate, especially since he’d grown closer to Cheng Zhiwei.

Whatever he requested at this moment, Zhou Lin was ready to agree to.

After Zhou Lin bathed Zhou Ruoki, he accompanied him back to the room for bedtime.

Zhou Lin asked softly, "Qiqi, is mommy good?"

Zhou Ruoki looked down, his fingers clutching the blanket, "Good."

Zhou Lin stroked his hair warmly, "It’s best that you understand. Qiqi, from now on daddy, mommy, brother, and sister will all be with you."

"Daddy, goodnight," Zhou Ruoki burrowed into the blanket.

"Goodnight."

Zhou Lin returned to the master bedroom; Cheng Zhiwei had already finished washing up and was in bed.

To her, an extra marriage certificate hadn’t made much of an impact on her current life.

So, seeing Zhou Lin enter the room, she immediately sat up and furrowed her brows, questioning him, "What are you doing here?"

Zhou Lin hesitated slightly, "I’m here to take a shower. What’s wrong? What did you think I wanted to do?"

Cheng Zhiwei: "..."

She had only asked a question; why was he so verbose?
