Chapter 358: Chapter 358 After All, She Is His Biological Daughter

Cheng Zhiwei silently looked at the message; she didn’t know how to explain.

Cheng Shang really made it hard for her to accept.

Cheng Zhiyin’s call came through.

Cheng Zhiwei hesitated, but still answered.

After all, she couldn’t let her sister worry too much.

"Zhiwei, what’s going on? Where are you staying now?" Cheng Zhiyin asked a series of questions excitedly.

"Are they still arguing?" Cheng Zhiwei asked in a soft voice.

Cheng Zhiyin sighed, "Mom got so angry she went into her room and hasn’t come out, Dad... he left, and I can’t contact him."

She had also heard that Cheng Zhiwei moved out and, with Cheng Zhiwei not answering her phone, had gone to Guo Cuihua, only to encounter them arguing.

"What were they arguing about?" Cheng Zhiwei asked again.

She thought Cheng Shang wouldn’t dare to mention Seo Zhenzhen’s matter.

So what was their argument about?

"Dad wanted to take something back to his hometown, but Mom disagreed, and they started fighting. Mom even said that you moved out because of this. What exactly is going on?" Cheng Zhiyin urged, clearly anxious.

Cheng Zhiwei: "..."

How could she say that Seo Zhenzhen is an illegitimate child when it might not be appropriate, but if she said Seo Zhenzhen is the legitimate daughter of the Cheng Family, then what does that make Cheng Zhiwei?

"Zhiwei, are you listening?" Cheng Zhiyin asked, "Why don’t we meet and talk in person? Where are you now?"

Cheng Zhiwei gave an address, "I’m waiting downstairs."

"Okay."

Half an hour later, Cheng Zhiyin appeared downstairs.

Cheng Zhiwei stood at the entrance of the complex with no intention of inviting her inside, instead suggesting they take a walk nearby.

"What exactly happened?" Cheng Zhiyin asked bluntly.

She desperately wanted to know the truth.

Cheng Zhiwei kept nothing from her, and laid out everything, including the possibility that Seo Zhenzhen might be the true daughter of the Cheng Family and not her.

Cheng Zhiyin stood there in shock, "You mean, you were adopted by Dad, and Seo Zhenzhen is the one who... How is this possible?"

It was too fantastical to believe.

Who would willingly give up their own child to take someone else’s?

"He said so himself." Cheng Zhiwei felt a dull pain in her heart, finding the news that Seo Zhenzhen was Cheng Shang’s illegitimate child more acceptable than this.

Seo Zhenzhen wasn’t Cheng Shang’s illegitimate child — she was rightfully a Cheng.

And her, she was not supposed to be a Cheng.

"Perhaps... maybe it’s..."

"I’ve already done the DNA test; the results will be out tomorrow," Cheng Zhiwei interrupted Cheng Zhiyin’s speculation.

By tomorrow, everything would be clear.

Cheng Zhiyin sat stunned on a bench by the roadside, "So that’s why Dad wanted to take Zhenzhen’s belongings back to his hometown, and even said he wanted to add her name to the Cheng Family’s genealogy... why on earth would he do that..."

That’s his biological daughter.

How could he...

She couldn’t resist looking up at Cheng Zhiwei, who somehow appeared a bit unfamiliar to her, perhaps due to the lighting.

Although she felt Cheng Zhiwei resembled Cheng Shang before, now she seemed not to resemble him at all.

If Seo Zhenzhen really was her sister...

Cheng Zhiyin couldn’t bring herself to think further.

Cheng Zhiwei saw all of Cheng Zhiyin’s expressions and felt somewhat hurt, yet she knew her shock was justified.

After all, the person who should have been her sister was now gone.

She wanted to call out "sister" but couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She could only stand silently by the bench, waiting for Cheng Zhiyin to come to terms with the news.

Everyone knew, even though the DNA test results weren’t out yet, that the truth was almost certain.

After who knows how long, Cheng Zhiwei finally heard Cheng Zhiyin’s voice again, "Does Mom know about this?"

"She doesn’t," Cheng Zhiwei said quietly. "He asked me not to tell Mom."

Cheng Zhiyin closed her eyes, her turmoil slowly settling down; she stood up, looked at Cheng Zhiwei, and gave a bitter smile, "No matter what, you’re still my sister."

Cheng Zhiwei nodded, "Okay."

But they both knew that once the results were confirmed, their sisterly relationship would be precarious.

The oppressive atmosphere made breathing feel uncomfortable.

Cheng Zhiyin said with some difficulty, "Right, we can’t tell her about this matter for now."

"Dad wants to take Zhenzhen’s belongings back to his hometown... I’ll try to persuade him to wait for your results," Cheng Zhiyin struggled to continue.

Because the results could very well be just as expected.

She didn’t know how to break the news to Guo Cuihua.

It was too cruel.

"Okay," Cheng Zhiwei agreed. She had no place to say anything.

"I... I should go now," said Cheng Zhiyin in a low, helpless voice.

She needed some quiet.

"Yeah."

Cheng Zhiwei watched her hurry away, and only after her figure had disappeared did she slowly take a seat on the bench.

The world was so vast and she suddenly found herself without a home.

Her phone chimed with a notification.

Cheng Zhiwei checked the message, only to find that the DNA results that were supposed to come out tomorrow were already available.

The expected results.

She and Cheng Shang were really not related as parent and child.

It also meant that Seo Zhenzhen was truly Cheng Shang’s daughter.

She let out a slow breath and screenshot the results to send them to Cheng Zhiyin.

After putting the phone in her pocket, she walked back to her new home at a leisurely pace.

Both children were already asleep; Cheng Yang was with Aunt Wang, and Cheng Xing, running a fever, was with Cheng Zhiwei.

The night passed silently.

Early the next morning, Aunt Wang prepared breakfast, and the children both loved it.

Only Cheng Zhiwei seemed to be distracted, with little appetite, eating very little.

Right after sending the children off to kindergarten, Cheng Zhiwei received a call from Cheng Zhiyin.

They met at the same spot as the day before.

Cheng Zhiyin slowly began, "I’ve already asked him about that matter. He wouldn’t say specifically why he did it, but he admitted there was indeed such a thing."

Cheng Zhiwei fell silent; of course, he wouldn’t say.

Such a big issue, the truth must be more than anyone could bear.

"Zhiwei, no matter what, this matter has nothing to do with you, and it’s not your fault," Cheng Zhiyin comforted.

She looked much haggard overnight.

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t respond.

Even if it wasn’t her doing, she still had to bear the responsibility.

"Zhiwei, don’t overthink it," Cheng Zhiyin comforted again, "This time I will go back to the hometown with Dad, and I’ll try to get the whole truth from him."

No matter what, Seo Zhenzhen was her sister.

By emotion and by reason, she had to go.

Cheng Zhiwei understood, felt miserable, but could only offer her blessings, "Yeah, let me know when you do."

"Okay."

She gathered up all her emotions and went to the studio.

He Ye was already there, dealing with some matters. He frowned when he saw the dark circles under Cheng Zhiwei’s eyes and asked her in a low voice, "What’s wrong?"

"Nothing, senior," Cheng Zhiwei managed a wry smile, "You continue with your work, I’ll go to the recording room."

"Okay."
