Chapter 354: Chapter 354: Even Less Willing to Let You Have Your Way

"He..."

"We’re not going."

He Ye said indifferently, "There’s still some work to finish up at the studio, Zhiwei and I can’t make it, you guys go ahead."

He didn’t give He Mingzhu any respect.

After He Ye spoke, those who had agreed to go felt somewhat embarrassed but immediately changed their decisions.

"Miss He, I’m sorry, I just remembered, I have some overtime work to do, so I won’t be going."

"Same here, I need to prepare some materials."

"I have to go home, it’s my mother’s birthday."

No matter how many excuses there were, in the end, everyone decided not to go.

The courteous smile on He Mingzhu’s face finally began to falter, but she couldn’t get angry and could only manage to say, "Then, maybe next time."

The staff members quickly dispersed.

The smile disappeared from He Mingzhu’s face all at once, and she released all of the pressure that came with her superior status, angrily saying, "Xiao Ye, what do you mean by this?"

"I said it before, I don’t want others meddling in the studio," He Ye was direct.

He had agreed to the previous social gatherings because he regarded He Mingzhu as his sister.

But when it came to the studio, he wouldn’t allow He Mingzhu to interfere.

Cheng Zhiwei could hear the seriousness in his voice; He Ye was not speaking out of anger on her behalf, but had always felt this way from the beginning.

However, He Mingzhu blamed it all on Cheng Zhiwei.

She said unpleasantly, "Miss Cheng, I really hadn’t seen it before, but your influence over Xiao Ye is quite substantial."

Cheng Zhiwei met her gaze calmly, "Miss He, you flatter me."

He Mingzhu scoffed, "You’re so ungrateful, the He family’s door isn’t that easy to enter."

She finally lost her patience, warning Cheng Zhiwei.

"Sister, that’s enough, this is my own business," He Ye said coldly.

Cheng Zhiwei pulled at him and stepped forward to stand beside He Ye, saying calmly, "Miss He, our matters do not need your concern."

He Mingzhu clenched her fingers, "Cheng Zhiwei, if you’re willing to go abroad to develop, I can invest in you, but if you insist on staying in Yucheng, I’m afraid things will be difficult for everyone in the future."

She revealed her true motive.

She wanted Cheng Zhiwei out of Yucheng.

With the matrimonial alliance imminent, she wouldn’t allow Zhou Lin to be distracted by Cheng Zhiwei.

He Mingzhu dropped this remark and left.

Cheng Zhiwei felt uneasy inside; for Zhou Lin’s sake, He Mingzhu had personally come here and probably would do as she said.

"Zhiwei?" He Ye said softly, trying to soothe her, "It’s okay."

"What if she takes action against the studio?"

Claiming not to be worried would be a lie; this was He Ye’s studio, painstakingly rebuilt, and he had promised everyone that he would work hard to grow it stronger and have everyone’s talent recognized.

But now, once again, they faced a crisis.

"It’s okay, I’ll talk to her," He Ye said, lowering his head to touch her forehead, "You go back first."

"Okay."

When Cheng Zhiwei got home it was already past five o’clock, but the two children who were supposed to be home by three hadn’t returned.

Guo Cuihua was cooking and said with a smile, "Your dad took them out to play, said they’ll be back later."

"Out to play?" Cheng Zhiwei immediately sensed something was off.

With Cheng Shang being emotionally upset these days, it wasn’t likely he would take the children out just for fun.

"Where did they go to play?" she asked.

"Said it was to the park outside."

"Okay, then I’ll go find them and tell them to come back for dinner," Cheng Zhiwei turned and went out again.

After standing outside and calming herself for a moment, she got in her car downstairs.

Cheng Shang, troubled by the affairs of Seo Zhenzhen lately, would definitely not simply take the two children out to play.

Cheng Zhiwei worried that he was using the children as an excuse to attend to Seo Zhenzhen’s funeral affairs.

After contacting the hospital on the phone, indeed, Seo Zhenzhen had already been sent to the crematorium.

Cheng Zhiwei had called the crematorium again and learned that Seo Zhenzhen’s ashes had been claimed by a middle-aged man.

It was Cheng Shang.

And he had brought Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing with him.

Rage surged, engulfing all of Cheng Zhiwei’s reason.

She drove straight to the cemetery.

The largest public cemetery in Yucheng was located on the outskirts of the city. It took Cheng Zhiwei forty minutes to get there, and as she got out of the car, a drizzle began to fall.

She asked the cemetery keeper and indeed saw Cheng Shang’s name on the registry.

Step by step up the cemetery, Cheng Zhiwei searched carefully.

By the time her hair and clothes were almost completely wet, Cheng Zhiwei finally found Cheng Shang.

And those two children.

The night came a bit earlier because of the rain.

As Cheng Zhiwei walked up to them, they hadn’t noticed her.

The two children shivered from the cold in the rain, leaning on each other.

Cheng Yang cautiously asked, "Grandfather, it’s so cold, can we go home now?"

Cheng Shang’s stern voice blended with the rain, "What’s the rush, come here."

"Grandfather."

Cheng Xing called weakly, "I want Mom."

"Don’t mention that mom of yours." Cheng Shang roared, not even wanting to hear the name of Cheng Zhiwei.

Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing burst into tears.

They were both cold and hungry.

"Stop crying," Cheng Shang shouted irritably.

The two children cried even louder.

Cheng Shang stamped his foot fiercely and yanked Cheng Yang over, "Kneel down."

Cheng Yang, caught off guard, nearly fell over.

"Yangyang," Cheng Zhiwei reached them just in time, pulling Cheng Yang into her arms and dragging Cheng Xing to her chest, burning with rage, "Dad, what are you doing?"

Upon seeing her, Cheng Shang’s expression turned icy as he pointed to Seo Zhenzhen’s tombstone, "She’s dead, have your son and daughter kowtow to her, and we’ll consider this matter over."

Kowtow?

Cheng Zhiwei was so angry her face turned pale and she began to tremble, "What do you mean? She’s dead, and you want my children to kowtow to her?"

Not to mention the way Seo Zhenzhen treated Zhou Ruoki, she didn’t deserve forgiveness.

And he wanted Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing to kowtow to her?

That was too much.

Cheng Zhiwei grabbed Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing and started to leave, but Cheng Shang followed, "Cheng Zhiwei, you cannot leave."

Cheng Zhiwei shook off his hand with a cold gaze, "Have you lost your mind?"

"Just this once, as your father, I’m begging you. After this, we’ll cancel all debts with her," Cheng Shang pleaded more softly.

"Impossible," Cheng Zhiwei said, shaking with fury, rejecting him sharply.

Seeing her refusal, Cheng Shang’s attitude turned cold again, "Cheng Zhiwei, she’s already dead."

"What does that have to do with me."

"She is..." Cheng Shang looked at Cheng Zhiwei, a pained expression on his face, but in the end, he didn’t finish his sentence.

Cheng Zhiwei finished it for him, "She’s your biological daughter?"

Cheng Shang remained silent.

Silence meant it was true.

Cheng Zhiwei had never expected her long-held suspicion to be the truth. She thought of Guo Cuihua, and a chill rose from the bottom of her heart.

Seo Zhenzhen really was Cheng Shang’s daughter.

How could he have done that.

Cheng Zhiwei walked up to Cheng Shang, the cold rain falling onto her eyes, all of it icy.

"Then I am even less likely to let you have your way."
