The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife
Chapter 335: He Became Superfluous

Chapter 335: Chapter 335: He Became Superfluous

Cheng Zhiwei didn’t manage to ask anything, so after dinner she told Cheng Zhiyin about the matter, and Cheng Zhiyin was also incredibly shocked.

"Illegitimate daughter?" Cheng Zhiyin felt it was impossible, "Dad, who cares so much about his reputation, how could he possibly have an illegitimate daughter."

It was absolutely impossible.

Cheng Zhiwei also thought so, Cheng Shang regarded his reputation as more important than his own life, and an incident like having an illegitimate daughter that could tarnish his reputation was something he wouldn’t do.

But why did he go to Seo Zhenzhen.

And he refused to give a reason.

"Next week is Yangyang and Xingxing’s birthday, I’ll come over, then find a chance to ask him," Cheng Zhiyin told Cheng Zhiwei not to think nonsense.

Cheng Shang might be hiding something, but definitely not something like having an illegitimate daughter.

"Okay," Cheng Zhiwei calmed down and then asked another question, "How are you and Huo Xuan doing?"

When it came to Huo Xuan, Cheng Zhiyin was silent for three seconds before she smiled faintly, "We’re not suitable."

Cheng Zhiwei knew Cheng Zhiyin had issues, thinking Huo Xuan came from a decent background, and the family still didn’t know what the situation was, so she didn’t say anything more.

She was feeling very headache, so she hung up the phone to rest.

Not long after she lay down, she heard voices outside, then Cheng Yang ran in, "Mom, mom, Zhou Ruoki is here."

Zhou Ruoki?

Cheng Zhiwei was stunned for a moment, just about to get up, when she saw a tall figure enter through the doorway.

Zhou Lin’s palm naturally landed on Cheng Zhiwei’s head, and he frowned slightly, "Why are you still running a fever?"

Zhou Ruoki obediently stood aside, her voice was immature, but she spoke with great coherence, "Aunt Cheng, are you not feeling well? Have you taken any medicine?"

"Hmm, just a little cold, Qiqi, would you like to go outside and play with Yangyang?" Cheng Zhiwei didn’t want to infect the children.

Cheng Yang immediately pulled Zhou Ruoki out.

But Zhou Lin didn’t budge.

Cheng Zhiwei’s face was pale, "Please leave as well, I need to rest."

This was her room, and she did not welcome others barging in so abruptly.

Zhou Lin stood by the bed, his voice soft and deep, "I’ll have Zhang Yuanheng take another look."

"Zhou Lin, please leave," Cheng Zhiwei rubbed her forehead; did he never care about what others said?

Zhou Lin’s lips moved slightly, putting away his phone, "I heard about what happened at the kindergarten from Qiqi, thank you."

When Zhou Ruoki was mentioned, Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t hold back the words she’d been wanting to say in Zhou Lin’s presence, "Zhou Ruoki hasn’t done anything to offend you; can you not always bully him?"

It was either sending him abroad or neglecting him in the kindergarten.

Even someone raising a small cat or dog would grow attached, let alone a living, breathing person.

Especially a child who still depends on adults.

Zhou Lin observed Cheng Zhiwei’s expression with lowered eyes; he could tell that Cheng Zhiwei genuinely cared about Zhou Ruoki.

From the bottom of her heart.

"Such things won’t happen again in the future."

Zhou Lin promised, bending over to tuck her in, "You rest, I’ll go out."

As the door closed, Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t sleep at all, feeling uncomfortable at the thought of Zhou Lin taking Zhou Ruoki outside.

Guo Cuihua found a moment to come in and asked in a low voice, "What does he mean by that?"

He not only came over but also entered her room without any reservation.

Does he even remember that they are divorced?

Cheng Zhiwei explained helplessly, "He came to say thank you for what happened at the kindergarten today."

"I think he can’t let go of you, don’t you ever agree to remarry him," Guo Cuihua warned Cheng Zhiwei, afraid that she might agree to Zhou Lin again.

After all, she had once loved Zhou Lin so much.

Feelings are actually very hard to forget.

"He Ye is quite good, you know. If you’re thinking of marrying, you might as well choose He Ye," Guo Cuihua was very satisfied with He Ye, considering anyone who treats Cheng Zhiwei well a good person.

"I won’t," Cheng Zhiwei said indifferently, "I won’t agree to remarry him."

But He Ye...

Cheng Zhiwei tried to act like a normal girlfriend in response to He Ye’s affections.

"That’s good," Guo Cuihua smiled upon receiving the answer she wanted, "Although Zhou Ruoki is not your biological child, he is still a kid after all, and has become friends with Yangyang and Xingxing. I, as a grandma, naturally won’t be biased against him, but it’s better if Zhou Lin makes fewer visits."

"Mhm, I’ll talk to him," Cheng Zhiwei said as she got out of bed and changed her clothes to leave.

The three little friends were happily huddled together, and Zhou Lin, sitting on the side, didn’t find it boring at all, occasionally joining their conversation.

Cheng Yang originally didn’t like Zhou Lin, but gradually, he even accepted his participation.

Cheng Zhiwei then quietly slipped away.

She went to the kitchen to help out, where Guo Cuihua had made millet cakes for them.

Soon after, the doorbell rang. When Cheng Zhiwei opened the door and saw the visitor, she was taken aback, "Senior?"

He Ye was holding cold medicine, and also carrying cake and fruit.

Seeing Cheng Zhiwei, he asked with concern, "Why didn’t you rest?"

With that, he stepped into the living room.

Almost instantly, the gazes of the two men met.

He Ye greeted with a light smile, "President Zhou is here too? Here to see the kids?"

Cheng Yang had already rushed over, affectionately calling out, "Uncle He."

He Ye patted his head and didn’t show any awkwardness despite Zhou Lin’s presence, as he calmly set down the cake.

Cheng Xing asked him, "Uncle He, is that for me?"

"Mhm, all three of you can share it," He Ye beckoned even Zhou Ruoki over, a model of generosity, smooth as jade.

After settling the three kids down, He Ye put his hand on Cheng Zhiwei’s shoulder and pulled her to one side, then touched her forehead, "Still feverish?"

He reached for the medicine.

Cheng Zhiwei quickly said, "I’ve already taken medicine."

He Ye frowned, eyes full of concern, "Should we go to the hospital?"

"No need, it’s just a cold, it always takes a few days."

"But you must be uncomfortable."

"I’m okay."

The two spoke in low voices, shoulder to shoulder, and from Zhou Lin’s direction, their closeness was glaring.

He looked down at his long fingers, a touch of mockery at the corner of his lips.

He seemed to have become superfluous.

But as he was always calm and self-possessed, he just sat there alone, busy with his phone, showing only his indifference to the onlookers.

He didn’t feel awkward about it either.

Fortunately, Cheng Shang came over soon, glanced at Cheng Zhiwei and He Ye, then sat beside Zhou Lin and inquired about Zhou Chenyuan’s condition.

Zhou Chenyuan was seriously ill and spent most of his time in the hospital.

Zhou Lin responded flatly, "He’s staying positive."

Already so ill, living another day was a blessing.

He looked at the three children sitting in a row eating cake, a hint of a smile appearing in his eyes, "I’m thinking of taking the kids to see him tomorrow."

After a pause, he slowly added, "My dad has always been quite fond of Yangyang and Xingxing."

Cheng Yang was by nature cheerful and vibrant, a beacon of hope for Zhou Chenyuan who was gravely ill.
