The Temptation of CEO's Pregnant Ex-Wife -
Chapter 334: Why Choose Seo Zhenzhen
Chapter 334: Chapter 334: Why Choose Seo Zhenzhen
"You did the right thing," Cheng Zhiwei said gently. "It’s correct to protect your sister, but next time, try to use a gentler method, like telling the teacher. Of course, if the other party persists, you can fight back, but only in the moment. You mustn’t hit anyone afterwards, understand?"
"Ah? Why?" Cheng Yang didn’t understand.
"Because if someone bullies you, you can fight back, but if you didn’t fight back at the moment and retaliate later, then it becomes your fault," she explained.
"I get it, it’s like taking revenge right on the spot," He Yuming suddenly understood.
Cheng Zhiwei laughed, "Where did you learn that? Taking revenge on the spot, is that something a child should say?"
Although that was the reasoning, He Yuming was still just a little child.
He Yuming pretended to sigh, "Although I really dislike Zhou Ruoki because he took my dad, my dad is a bad dad, he’s not my dad anymore. Since Zhou Ruoki has been protecting Xingxing, I guess I’ll reluctantly accept him."
Cheng Xing rolled his eyes slightly, "I’ve told you, he’s a good friend."
The friendship of little children is always simple.
Cheng Zhiwei respected their choices.
When they arrived home, Cheng Yang spilled the beans about everything at kindergarten, leaving Guo Cuihua startled at first. When Cheng Yang announced that he and Zhou Ruoki were now friends, her face turned complicated as she looked toward Cheng Zhiwei.
Everyone knew that Zhou Ruoki, Cheng Yang, and Cheng Xing were half-brothers sharing the same father.
Who would have thought that their relationship would be so good now? Could it really be the bond of blood?
"Grandma, grandma, can I invite him to eat the rice cake you make?" Cheng Yang anxiously asked, worried that Guo Cuihua might refuse.
Guo Cuihua snapped out of it and hurriedly agreed, "Of course, you can. Next Saturday is both of your birthdays. How about we invite him to your birthday party?"
Although she was reluctant, she still chose to accept Zhou Ruoki.
Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing got excited and ran to ask Cheng Zhiwei, "Mom, can we invite Zhou Ruoki to celebrate our birthday together?"
Next Saturday, Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing would officially turn three years old.
"You can, invite him yourselves," she responded.
"Thank you, Mom."
Cheng Zhiwei rubbed her forehead, still experiencing a slight fever. She had taken medicine, and although she was weighed down by another matter, Cheng Shang was not at home; she decided to rest for now.
Just as she lay down, He Ye sent a video call. Seeing Cheng Zhiwei in bed, he immediately asked with concern if he should come over.
"I’m much better now," Cheng Zhiwei yawned slightly and started asking about the studio.
He Ye’s previous studio had boomed, especially after receiving an investment from Zhou Group, but now that Zhou Group had stopped investing, their growth had slowed, they were still going strong.
But two tigers cannot share one mountain.
He Ye’s new studio flourishing inevitably encroached on their interests and, coupled with previous grievances, had led to a clash.
The studio had faced a lot of issues lately.
He Ye became busy handling them.
Cheng Zhiwei was also concerned about this matter and asked proactively.
He Ye reassured her, telling her to focus on recovering while he handled the studio issues.
"It’s tough on you, senior," Cheng Zhiwei sighed, "I’ll get better as soon as I can."
"Zhiwei, do you still need to be so formal with me after all this time?" He Ye’s voice was low, helpless yet amused, "Have we been together so long and you still need to call me senior?"
Cheng Zhiwei fell silent, then corrected herself: "He Ye."
He Ye’s laughter was joyful. "Rest well,"
The call ended, and Cheng Zhiwei held her phone and lowered her gaze, her agitation slightly soothed, but her drowsiness had vanished as well.
After lying in bed for a while unable to sleep, she got up and went to the living room.
Cheng Shang had just returned not long after she sat down. He had gone fishing with a friend and was in a very good mood.
Cheng Zhiwei watched him change his shoes and tidy up his belongings. He then spoke with Guo Cuihua in the kitchen. When he came out, he hugged Cheng Yang and Cheng Xing; no matter how you looked at it, he was a family man.
However, thinking of what the director of the welfare institute had said, Cheng Zhiwei’s mood still felt somewhat heavy.
She took the initiative to approach him and said, "Dad, there’s something I want to ask you."
Cheng Shang looked at her in surprise, and they both went to the balcony. "What is it?"
Cheng Zhiwei didn’t hesitate and asked directly, "Who exactly is Seo Zhenzhen?"
Cheng Shang’s expression changed momentarily, but he quickly recovered to normal and frowned at Cheng Zhiwei, "Why do you ask such a thing?"
He refused to answer directly.
Cheng Zhiwei felt a chill in her heart. Could it be that Seo Zhenzhen really was her half-sister from the same father?
Then this world would be tragically bizarre.
"Today, I met the director of the Sunshine Welfare Institute. She said that when you initially went to the institute, you actually wanted to adopt Seo Zhenzhen, not sponsor both of them."
Cheng Shang stiffened for a moment. "What were you doing there?"
"Dad, that’s not important, right? I just want to know why you initially chose Seo Zhenzhen."
If it wasn’t for some relationship, Cheng Zhiwei couldn’t think of any other reason.
However, even though Cheng Shang had been stubborn and headstrong over the years, his marriage to Guo Cuihua was still good. It didn’t seem likely that Cheng Shang would betray Guo Cuihua.
So Cheng Zhiwei had to get a clear answer.
Yet Cheng Shang refused to comply, merely evading, "It’s all in the past. Why ask so much? Just live well now."
Cheng Zhiwei almost wanted to laugh, her tone sarcastic, "Could it be you and some other woman’s?"
She asked bluntly.
Cheng Shang’s face reddened in anger, like a fired cannon, angrily saying, "Cheng Zhiwei, what are you saying?"
Cheng Zhiwei wasn’t afraid of his anger. Since she had asked, she definitely wanted an answer, "If you don’t want to tell me, then I’ll ask Mom. She probably knows something."
"Are you threatening me?" Cheng Shang was incredulous.
Does she even act like a junior?
"I just want to know the truth." Cheng Zhiwei glanced at Guo Cuihua, who was approaching, her demeanor indifferent, "Dad, if you don’t talk, I can still find out, but then things might not be so simple."
As her words fell, the balcony door was pulled open. Guo Cuihua looked at them, "What are you talking about?"
Cheng Zhiwei and Cheng Shang never communicated alone for so long.
"Nothing." Cheng Shang walked back to the living room, "She told me to cut down on fishing and spend more time at home with you."
Guo Cuihua: "..."
Cheng Zhiwei tugged at the corner of her mouth. She had certainly never said such a thing.
But... the unease in her heart grew more substantial.
Cheng Shang refusing to clarify the matter could only mean he had something to hide.
"Let’s have dinner." Guo Cuihua pulled Cheng Zhiwei, "Stop thinking about it. You’re still sick, so rest more."
